I recently saw a show about extreme sports. This included mountain biking, street luge, and long-boarding (all of which I do) and it also showed mountain boarding. I had heard of it before, and I think that it would be very fun. But how much do they cost, and are they easy to use? I am willing to learn, but I cannot go out and spend $500 on one. Any info would be helpful, so please post! Thanks

Hey all, Today I bought a PC board (printed circuit). I plan on making a flashlight with it and some 10 mm LED's I have, but I need some info on how to use the board. If I have a PC Board, how would I put the LED's on the circuit board for all of the lights to show up at once. (hence the flashlight). My county just finished our new high school and we got the promeathean board and i really want to make a small device to interfaced them and screw with the board...i could put a touch screen on it and just use a pen and add bluetooth...promeathean accualy has a small board to let the teachers and students use and it has a software to install on to computer its connected to. im preety sure it is possable but i just need help i can buy a small touchscreen and i have a board in mind that runs off of a AMD geode prosseser and i also need to hook a battery to it Thanks for the help

Fount this on my daily Internet rumage. its a board that turns a servo in sequence with a poteniomiter. wonder if it could be made to control a more powerful motor?

I came up with an idea! There should be a place on the site called the "drawing board" in which you could sketch out ideas using your mouse and save them as a JPG. You could incorporate this into drawing plans and designs for your instructable! It could be a cool feature for everyone, but for pro membership you could have extra things (e.g. rainbow colors, a ruler, paint brush mode). I think this would be a cool addition to the website.

Does anyone know where to get cheap pcb boards? Blank ones I mean, not a place to get them done for you. I don't want a MASSIVE order but if there are some manufacturing companies with free samples too, that'd be nice :)

Also a second device has the 1a fan plus a 4watt element, plus another 4w on setting 2, plus another 4w on setting 3 So 1 is 1a and I think 0.4a= 1.4a 2 is 1.8a 3 is 2.2a. I think

Hi.  A basic question; I need to connect a breakout board to a strip board. What is the best method?  PCB Latch plug header? I have tried putting a wire through the strip board, through the breakout board and then soldering into place, but I do not get good connectivity.  Any help is much appreciated.

I built a generic board for pic18f452 microcontroller. But i am not sure if it is working or not.it is getting Vcc=5Vits reset button is working(i.e gives 0V on pressing)i want to know about how to be sure that this generic board is built correctly.

Is Fir Board some kind of compressed wood? And if so, can it be made from differrent types of wood or is it usually Pine? I couldn't find anything about it in Wikipedia.

I'm looking for a board (for the moment a development board would be the best solution as I am prototyping) with NFC and WiFi integrated. I saw that Arduino should launch one with NFC, Wifi and Bluetooth, the board is called Primo. I can't find anything else and Arduino can't announced a date for the launch. For now I'm working with a NFC reader and the Arduino WiFi Board both mounted on a separate Arduino Uno because the two boards are incompatible. Any idea ? Thanks Alizée

I want to build a LED writing board. It's basically a markerboard with a LED light behind it and it takes advantage of special fluorescent markers. My question is, how can I achieve that the board doesn't light up unless the marker is applied to the board. You can see in the video, that the glass stays black/dark until you write on it... I have this circuit board which I pulled from an iPhone dock. When I look at the bottom, it seems obvious where the wires and connections are running. Does this mean that the area marked in the photo below is fair play for cutting and removing without effecting the functionality of the circuit board? The project I'm working on would greatly benefit from being able to remove a small part of the plastic.

I am working on a DIY thumb drive.  I want one Flash drive sticking out each end of this casing. The two circuit boards will be nearly touching, nested, one on top of the other in opposite directions.  Should I be concerned, should I put something between them?

My sewing machine (a Pfaff 1171) dies after about 10 minutes. When I push on the peddle again, there is nothing... no hum - absolutely nothing. The light stays on.  Wait fifteen minutes or so, and it runs just fine...only to repeat the cycle.  Turning the wheel doesn't change the electrical situation.  It's almost as though a fuse is blowing and then resetting itself. I took it into the shop, and the verdict is that it's either the peddle (unlikely) or the board inside.  The board is no longer made.  If I turn the wheel, everything works... forwards, backwards, stitches and all that.  It's a great machine mechanically,  and I hate to lose it because of some glitch on a board.  Is there any way that a board could be bypassed?  I can survive without a bobbin sensor and being able to set whether the machine stops with the needle up or down.

I have a Sony hcd-fx10 dvd home theater system, and one day I turned it on and it went into protect mode. I contacted Sony and they said it needs to be serviced. I found a service manual online and took the unit apart. I consider myself handy, so this was not a problem. Upon further investigation and with use of the service manual, i found a brown burn mark on the bottom of the motherboard, which corralates to the protection detection module on the board; which is my prblem. My question is, Can I simply remove this module, or does it need to be replaced with a new one or something similar? I don't know much about circuitboards but have some skill at soldering. Attached are pictures, the best I could get of the small board, showing the actual module on the board and the burn mark on the bottom of the board. Any info would be great. Thanks.

I made two cutting boards and apparently I did a bad job cutting it or the wood was too roughly cut or something, I don't know, but now they both have gaps in them. I glued one up, and the other one I didn't but could tell it was going to be the same. Is there any way to fix my goof, or if there is not, what is another project that I could use the wood for as to not completely waste it? Thanks!

Hi there.  I salvaged 2 boards of LEDs from an old LED can at work.  They were previously DMX, and have an array of red, green, and blue LEDs.  There are four leads coming from the board, +, -, a dashed line, and an unmarked line.  I am looking to integrate these with another project, but am unsure how to go about finding how to control them electrically.  I was thinking it might be digitally controlled right on the board, but I see no IC.   All I am looking to do is figure out where voltage needs to be applied in order to have different RGB levels.  If I helps, the number printed on the board is FT140PCB GS.  I am able to attach an image if that would be helpful. Any ideas of how to go about this?  Thanks a lot, anything would help!

Just harvested a ballast board along with the lamp out of a rear projection tv and was thinking about making a Jacob's ladder with it since it outputs a suitably high enough voltage.  My only problem is bypassing the 'power on' signal to the circuit to instead manually switch the lamp on and off.  Does anyone have knowledge of the circuitry that would allow me to accomplish this?

Hello everybody, this is a new idea of mine that I want to share with you. the snap board concept. It is made of zip lock bags, card board, and duck tape. This idea could be used in notebooks or you could just make a wall of this and make all different bags and holders that snap on to the zip lock rail. You can slide the bags from side to side if you want. I might put this in a notebook case so that I can customize it with pencil holders and other organizers. Or I might make it so that I can snap on different covers and stuff like that . Please tell me any other ideas to use this idea and comments. I will post an Instructables when I make a true model and get feedback. Please comment and subscribe

My question is would you be able to cut off some of the unused keys on the bluetooth keyboard and still keep it functional?

I know that copper is a better conductor than tin or aluminum. But one of my friends a few days ago told me that instead of etching his layout on copper, he used the bottom of an altoids tin. he said all he did was sand the bottom until there was no paint of the altoids can and then he etched his layout. (Chemical bath, toner, etc.) So my question is, Does anyone know how to etch custom layouts (toner layouts) on tin or aluminum? **I figure this could save people some money and time on some projects. :)

So first and foremost, I'm new to DIY electronics and the forum, so apologies in advance, i was linked to this forum through google.(if this isnt the correct forum to ask or against TOS apologies in advance.) What im looking to do is make some sort of LED controller, that allows me to program strobe on/off delay (set how long the lights on, as well as how much time between each strobe)  Not too sure where I would need to begin im assuming, and arduino board would be the best start. I laready own a bunch of these (http://www.emazinglights.com/rave-microlights/elite/elite-multi-mode/elite-matrix-chip.html)  I'm just wanting to tinker around and make my own larger scale ones to incorporate into household items, and still have some of the same functionality.  I am not too concerned with size or anything like that either.

Hi all i am very very new to all of this and i am working to light up a model if you can help me i would be very great full. Ok so i want to connect Led 1 threw 5 to the 555 timer and 6and 7 to be solid on. The resistors are 1/4 W 5% 470R OHM I was told to put the resistors on the negative point of the LED for the chasers. Do i need to put some on the Solid ones? I am using 4 AA Batteries for power and that gives me 6V. All of the lights will be in a serial circuit. The chasers Led are 3mm 5.0V @ 20mA The solid Led are 3mm 3.6V @ 20MA The fun part: How do i connect it all together? I bought a Breadboard and i am trying to figure it out lol !!! Now i was told that the timer chip is to bridge the gap image 2 That i also has to connect the the bottom and top of the gap like so image 3 OK so on the breadboard the resistors go parallel? from the 555 chip image 4? And the Led goes like this for the chaser image 5 ? Any help would be great and thanks
