I recently watched Bones (it was on FOX) , and they had a computer genius who somehow killed a person, arranged a code out of the victim's spine, and carved malware onto bone, shutting off their computer system's fans. My question is this: is it possible to carve a worm/bug/virus on to bone (or anything for that matter) so that, when scanned, it wreaks havoc on computers or mainframes?

I bought some flavored bones for my dog at a store and found that they are pig bones. She had blood in her stool (lots). I gave her peroxide and she threw up about 30 shards. they were sharp enough to remove a sliver from your finger. Never give you dog pork bones, EVER. I don't know everywhere they are sold but I got mine at TSC My dog is fine by the way.
Question by VICPETERS | last reply
A few weeks ago I was digging a new garden and I uncovered an old beef rib bone buried next to a rusty tin can. I presume one of my dogs put them there several years ago. The bone had developed a nice patina, infused with a reddish-brown color, most likely from the rusty can. It would work perfectly as scales (handles) for an old hunting knife of mine if I could flatten it out somewhat. Remembering an old trick from my youth, I have been soaking it in white vinegar and it has softened nicely without losing the patina. From my past experience I know it will re-harden if I allow it to dry out, but it will be more porous and brittle. My thought was to dry it then coat it liberally with super glue or to soak it in a clear acrylic paint for several days to fill the pores. I am looking for any ideas or suggestions that will help me in this project, whether they be ways to make my ideas better or something entirely different. Thanks.

Ok so the Beagle Board can run Windows Compact, and Linux and stuff right? Well I've been looking up descriptions for the Beagle Bone, and I'm not sure if it can do the same thing. I want to make a wrist-computer thing, but the Beagle Board is to big and a bit on the expensive side. The Beagle Bone would be an ideal replacement, but I'm not sure if I have the same capabilities as I do the Beagle Board. Can someone tell me if the Beagle Bone can run Windows Compact or a small OS like Linux?

So when I was a kid I found this nice rack of white tail deer antlers, 8 points. Moved out of my mom's house and forgot about it, but recently they resurfaced. I'm thinking it would be really cool to wear them for Halloween.. I've done a lot of battle with search engines for the past few days but it doesn't seem like anyone uses shed antlers for anything terribly interesting. Much light-fixture-ing and car key racks abound. And the guy who made a USB key casing. Does anyone have any ideas on how to wear them such that they look about as natural as a human suddenly having horns could be? I'm not bald, so that's not an issue, but I don't have access to a lot of tools since I'm still getting started.

Hello! :) I am hoping someone can help me. I carve faux claws, fangs, and bone rings. There are times I wish I could soften the bone, as when carving a claw from a rib bone, It would be nicer if I could remove the marrow , soften the bone and bring the 2 curved ends together, or when making rings using sections cut from a thigh bone, I end up with piece's that are odd shaped and too thin walled to carve out room for a finger. If I could find a way to soften the bone i could squeeze the bone some to get a usable round shape ,(after bracing and letting dry.), and I would have more usable maternal I remember when I was growing up, we were up in the villages and a VISTA volunteer came for the summer. He had in his room a bone in a bottle, not soft, but hard , no cuts in the bottle . Us kids tried to figure out how he got it in there as the bone was a little bigger than the opening. Before he left he finally told us he had soaked the bone so it was pliable and able to fit through the smaller opening, once inside it went back to it's shape and dried hard again. For the life of me I can't remember what it was he soaked it in. If anyone knows, or has a idea , it would be greatly appreciated if you would let me know. Have a great day, or night ( I know I spend hours here when I can't sleep and am "Night owling". lol ). I love this place!! :) :) Leo4613 :)

Did anyone watch the Military bone yard episode on the History channel? It is amazing to see how they can repair a vehicle that is in as bad of shape as it was and make it like new again. On the other hand, I could not believe what they do with equipment that is outdated or too much work to rapair.M16 being tossed into grinders Vietnam and WW2 era tanks smelted down into a hunk of metal. Amazing pieces of engineering destroyed along with its history. All because of the idiots in Washington who want to keep this stuff away from the public. The episode pained me so much, that I could not watch the rest of it.

I found this in the black sea, and I have no idea what it is. It feels kind of like a bone, is a bit thicker than 3 peices of paper towards the wide end, and has a hollow tunnel going through from the small end and opens out in the wide end (see diagram). If anyone has any ideas, please tell me.

I would like to use whether six AA or one 9Volt external battery for a diy "bare-bone" arduino* (*just the 328p atmega, 8MHz oscilator, capacitors, resitor, LED) & tested LM317, LD1086, LM1117 voltage regulators (it's a "budget" project – hence didn't try any step-up/step-down switching regulators though they seem to be the best solution ...); ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ SUITABLE POWER/CURRENT? can i "simply connect" any of the regulators (incl. the necessary resistors/capacitors according to their datasheets) or do i need to add resistors to reduce their current in order to not "over-power"* them? * according to the values i measured (i am a novice to arduino's power management … could have made mistakes whilst measuring) LM317 = ca. 2A @ ca. 3.3V with 100 & 160 Ohm resistors LD1086 = ca. 1A @ ca. 3.3V with 100 & 160 Ohm resistors LM1117 = ca. 1A @ ca. 3.3V without resistors according to dataheets/descriptions of several arduino boards (but i might have misunderstood – this might not have any impact on the power source … ) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ TRYING TO PROTECT & REDUCE POWER FOR ADDITIONAL FEATURES ... LED to indicate that there is power flowing … hoping that this reduces the power consumption: - a 20 KOhm pullUp resistor ? Protect from charge … hoping that this protects the circuit from capacitors' stored charge: - 2* 1N4001 on voltage regulator? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ i look forward to your advice …

I have two small pork rib bones ( about four cm each max.) and, on a whim, have decided to whiten them. I don't know how to do this. The bones almost no meat on them, but I'm not sure whether or not they have marrow. I was thinking of boiling them, since I belive it is easy, are there any setbacks to this method? please help (note: I am thinking of trying scrimshaw on them, so I dont want to weaken the bone)

I want to measure a very tiny gap of about 20-30 microns(0.02-0.03 mm) using a sensor with the help of arduino and then display it using a 16x2 Digital LCD Display. Can someone help me out with the sensor that I will need for this purpose with exact name and its working. The gap that I want to measure is the gap between the the joints of a healing fractured bone.(the joint where the tissues develop to join the broken parts together.)Since this is a leg bone any person walking with such a fractured bone will put pressure on the bone and the gap present in the bone will reduce. So that is what I want to measure using a sensor and arduino. Since this gap will be too small (20-30 microns) I am unable to find a suitable sensor for the same.PS: Main issue I am facing is the measurement of gap using a sensor and arduino since I can find a suitable sensor for the same. Please find the attachments of the bone and the gap I want to measure. Also the thing I am doing is a close case of greenstick fracture. refer to the attachment of greenstick fracture.

Hi, I am a researcher and I am interested in the piezoelectric qualities of certain materials, specifically quartz or bone and wondered whether anyone had experience of passing sound through quartz/crystals/animal bones? Is it possible to use one of those material to carry sound? I know that glass windows can be used as large bone conducting speakers, just wondering if anyone has any experience of this? I haven't done any hands on experiments myself as I am still at the research stage. Any advice would be appreciated and a big help! Thanks

I'm having some trouble deciding whether to buy a bare bone kit computer for less and build it, or buy a more expensive pre-built one. Here's one of TigerDirect's bare bone kits-http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3825393I like this one but the main problem is that I'm worried i will get all the connections messed up (serial cables, pin connectors, etc.) But it is about $100 less than this pre-built one belowhttp://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8885575&type;=product&id;=1212192194316So here's the whole thing in short- the bare bone kit computer i might screw up, but it is a lot less than a pre-built one (I'll probably trust the pre-built one more). Please help me decide which one.

Monster Hunter Monster Forest Elder Trade List FAQ FAQ written by S-Hiryu, WorldZero.com Created on October 3, 2004 Version: 1.04 Contents 1) How to Use this Guide 2) Forest and Hills (Area 7) Alphabetical Order 3) Forest and Hills (Area 7) Order of Priority 4) Jungle (Area 5) Alphabetical Order 5) Jungle (Area 5) Order of Priority 6) Swamp (Area 1) Alphabetical Order 7) Swamp (Area 1) Order of Priority 8) Free Items 9) Contact and Copyright 1) How to Use this Guide The Forest Elder is an NPC who may be spoken with, and depending on the items in your possession, he may offer you a trade. Below is a list of each trade depending on what map you visit the Elder in. The Elder will only be in one specific area on each map. This is located in the parenthesis after the name of each map. For example, "Forest and Hills (Area 7)" means that the Elder may be found in Area 7 of the Forest and Hills map. Each map has two lists, an alphabetized list and an order of priority list. The alphabetized list is simply a list of the items given and received in alphabetical order. The item given is on the left, the item received is on the right. For example, "Gravios Carapace -> Diablos Spine" means if you have a Gravios Carapace in your possession and speak to the Elder, he will offer you a Diablos Spine in return. If you possess no items the Elder wants, he will instead offer you advice. The list is alphabetized by order of the item received (item on the right). The second list for each map is the order of priority list. The Elder will always look to trade the items highest on this list first and foremost. This means if you have an Insect Husk (the item with the highest priority) he will trade you for that before he will offer to trade for the item next on the priority list. If the item next on the list is not in your possession, he will move on to the one after that, and so on. The Elder will only trade with you four times on a single quest. The Elder will always base his trades on the priority lists. The list is prioritized by order of the item given (item on the left). During certain quests, Special Mushroom trades are not available. In such situations, the Elder will instead look for Iron Ore and offer a Small Monster Bone in its place. 2) Forest and Hills (Area 7) Alphabetical Order Gravios Carapace -> Diablos Spine Garbage -> other opportunity to trade with him (based on the fact that the Elder will trade with you four times before getting angry and shooing you away) he may give you a free item for nothing in return. This list is the same as the order of priority list, in which the game checks the item on the top of the list first, only this time you have a random chance of getting that item. If the top item was not "won", the game moves onto the next, and checks to see if you "win" that, and so on, until an item is finally obtained or you fail to win every item. The percentage after the item is the chance you have of obtaining said item before moving on to the next opportunity (only if the previous item was not won).
