I was following the instructions on apcmag for dual booting XP and Vista with Vista installed first and ran into a problem. Once I had gotten to the part about adding an entry for XP to easybcd I got stuck. The drive letter selection was grayed out. I added XP to the list anyway, and went into change settings. I set XP to the correct drive letter there, but when I rebooted and selected XP from the menu, I got a ntldr error immediately. Any help would be much appreciated.

I am looking towards creating a dual boot scenario on my computer (XP, and Ubuntu) and I am in need of a bit of assistance. Some background and foundation: Present OS = XP SP2The main partition is NTFS, however the "backup" partition is FAT(16 or 32, I am not sure)Now, to my main question: I realize I can partition this further so I can have a dual boot situation, but I am worried about losses that may occur. I haven't had much time lately to read up on the process, but I have seen warnings about loss of data files, etc. and my being cautious to a fault, I haven't proceeded any further in my quest. So, what precautions should I take, and what is going to be the process I need to follow to get to where I want to be?

I've had my pair of Danner boots for 5 years, going on six. I do everything in them, hiking, welding, motorcycle riding, only taking them off to go to sleep, so they get alot of abuse. I use Mink oil on mine, heating them up a little from the inside then applying the oil. Of course I clean them off first with a damp rag and a little bit of soap if needed. I've had my Danners re-soled once so far and had a few seams re-sewn. Who knows how long they'll last. They have a little crack where they get toe creased but other than that they're great.

Im trying to find hooks that are used most commonly on boots. These boots are a good example: http://www.whitesboots.com/assets/img/categories/boots.jpgIve looked all over the web, but can't seem to find anything even similar. I don't make shoes, so I really don't know where to start to find them, I may not even have the right name. I need them to make a type of corset. If anyone knows what Im talking about and could help I'd appreciate it alot! I just am completely clueless! Please help!!

I dunno if you have ever seen this guys 'rocket boots' (not really rocket powered) but they are sort of neat. They do not get the same results as simple mechanical leaf spring sort of moon boots I see, but the concept is pretty interesting for those of us who are fans of combustibles. this is a video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7s-tnzPZ3c article http://www.technovelgy.com/ct/Science-Fiction-News-Comments.asp?NewsNum=740 Now my question: How would you improve this sort of unimpressive piston powered boot? I was thinking if one could double or even triple the chamber size of that piston, or use multiples of them, maybe use a more potent combustible than gasoline.

I had installed Ubuntu as a program that I can run within windows, just to try it out. Turns out it didn't quite fit my needs. When my computer boots up, it gave me the option to boot from windows or Ubuntu. Well, since I no longer want Ubuntu, I uninstalled it following the directions given by their website. I still have the option to boot Ubuntu when my computer starts up, but when I select it, It won't boot. I want Ubuntu out of my options to boot from. Anybody know how I would remove it from the list?

I have a nice ($15) pair of steel-toed work boots that are great, but they aren't waterproof. Being too lazy to buy actual boot waterproofer, I would like to know if anyone knows whether spray enamel (clear coat) would do the same thing. My boots are leather (synthetic, I'm sure) and nylon (I think). I could probably mask the leather off, so it would not be affected by overspray. I was just wondering, in case anyone ha ever done this before. Thanks!

Last night, I wanted some files off my laptop drive, so I stuck it in an external enclosure and plugged it into my desktop (whilst on). I then turned off the desktop without unplugging my laptop drive and turned it on again today, forgetting to unplug it. I have USB booting enabled, so it tried to boot from the laptop drive and as I was out of the room when it was booting, it entered the recovery partition as the hardware is incompatible. I have done this before, so I just turned off my computer, unplugged the drive, and restarted. Instead of booting from my primary internal drive, it got stuck on the post screen. It detected it, but wouldn't go any further. I then thought that it was still looking for the USB drive, so changed the boot order and removed usb boot, same problem. Removing my primary drive just returned the error "disk boot error, insert boot drive and press enter to continue", so I inserted the primary hard drive (I have it in a hot-swap bay, so it can easily be removed, although being my primary hard drive, not "hot"). After doing so, it kept returning a similar error. I then figured that it was still looking for my laptop drive as a primary boot device, so I cleared CMOS with the jumper and after setting it up again, disabling every other bootable interface except the sata port my primary drive is connected to, and it still just gets stuck on post. I have left it about 10 mins and still get the same problem. It is also hard to enter BIOS or any of the other utilities, as it waits until after post, so I have to either remove all drives or insert the laptop drive in it's enclosure. How can I get my desktop to boot from the primary hard drive again? Inserting the install disk is also hard, because I don't actually have a DVD drive yet, so I installed Windows 7 extended trial through a memory stick from my laptop with a disk drive. I have since deleted it off my memory stick, and my laptop is now in pieces hooked up to my monitor/keyboard/mouse instead of my desktop. It is on it's back and the hard drive bay is open in case I need it again. My BIOS is award with additional features on a Gigabyte GA-H55M-USB3 board. Both drives are Hitachi sata-II drives, one being 3.5" and one being 2.5".

I recently built two computers with amd fx-4300 processors, geforce 650 ti video cards, generic 4Gb memory, generic power supplies and GIGABYTE 78LMT-S2P motherboards. I installed Ubuntu 12.04 on the systems and began installing various programs I needed. When I was done for the day I shut down the computers and turned off the powerstrip. The next day when I went to start them up, I was getting a boot error. After inserting an Ubuntu live disk into the computer, I checked the hard drive, which opened up no problem and still contained all of the files from the os. The rule out the software I was installing, I reinstalled Linux on both computers, and rebooted, after which point there seemed to be no problem, until I turned off the powerstrip again and I got another boot error when I went to turn them back on. Thinking it might be the disk I was using to install linux, I burned another disk with the same os and tried that, and the problem persisted. The fact that it happened on both systems leads me to beleive that it isnt a hardware defect, but possibly and incompatibility between hardware parts, or a bios issue. Has anyone else ever encountered a situation like this where the os doesn't load after the power supply is switched on and off? If so, what causes it and what can I do to fix it? Edit: It seems that it actually fails to boot every time it is shut down, though it works fine when it is only rebooted. Edit#2: Interestingly enough, if i run a hard disk check from the live dvd, and then reboot with the disk in, it loads from the hard drive, but then after the next shutdown, it does the same thing Edit#3: After doing a disk check and it says no errors, it says to click a button to reboot. When I do this it gives me this message after it reboots, "Errors were found while checking the disk drive for /. Press F to attempt to fix the errors, I to ignore, S to skip mounting, or M for manual recovery" on the one computer I hit f to automatically fix it, which isn't a permanent fix because the drive coninues to have problems, but will boot after i hit f, and then not after i shutdown again. On the other computer, I hit m, and it gave me the message, "Root filesystem check failed. A maintanence shell will now be started. CONTROL-D will terminate this shell and reboot the system." The shell is from the hard drive, not the cd.

Hullo. I was wondering if anyone could advise me on a suitable paint to be used on Wellington boots (aka gumboots). It would have to be flexible and waterproof so that it doesn't crack when the boots are worn. I have some plain black boots and it would be nice to jazz them up a bit, and I don't want to buy ridiculous 'designer' boots.

I've been thinking about this all day, and have even doodled a few ideas down. if you were to say cut the front of the wellys open, cover the boots in a canvas like material through which the laces would flow, made a tongue out of some sort of rubber stuff, maybe lined them with something nice an soft, i was thinking felt, and maybe even add a few extra straps, and finally some kind of water proofing layer over the canvas so as to keep the boots watertight...could it work?

I just want to make sure I have this right before I go ahead... So, right now I have two drives. One is partitioned into two, one half is Win Xp(about 60gb), the other completely blank(about 20gb). Then, my slave drive is just for backup. I'm planning on installing Ubuntu onto that blank partition. By doing so, it shouldn't affect any of the files on either of the other drives, right? And when it boots it should boot into Windows as usual unless I directed to go to that partition since the windows drive is the first in the boot order. This, I think, should work without worrying about anything getting wiped right? And this setup won't have the OS's conflicting with each other? Would I have to use GRUB and if so how? Help, is greatly appreciated.

Well I finally went clothes shopping, a rare occurrence for me. Mainly I was looking for new boots, my old ones have holes worn right through them in the soles, which are detaching from the rest of them slowly, the metal spines fell out long ago via the holes... My new boots are 14 eyelet NPS, they're great, though breaking them in is a little rough on it, along with that they're the most expensive boots I've ever had, £105! the last ones were around £30 and so were most of my previous ones, though I did once make a pair of £10 boots last two years, by stapling the soles back on with a high power staple gun eventually. The suit's a good thing too! we were in TK Maxx, a cheapish store full of loads of stuff, I've gotten some interesting shoes from their random buckets before, so they were first port of call while returning jeans I'd been given that wouldn't fit me... I came off with a two piece suit instead, despite owning many vintage jackets and a couple of pairs of trousers I've never owned a suit, or a new suit jacket for that matter, which is cool... Last one, on sale perfect fit on me, well the jacket's only a 38" chest so it makes it a tight fit but not uncomfortable since it has a little play in it. The boots are good and very solid but I'm having to get used to the big soles on them since most of mine have been smaller than that, they look taller than they are on the outside though so it's not too bad. I'm proud of myself for making a decision on things in a day, it's not likely me to buy clothes unless they're impractical or over the top, well the boots may be a little... Also I've decided to quit smoking, went to doctors office on friday having set that date and the fool told me to go on through the weekend and wait until monday, saying that can be my date... I wasn't amused, however I have one left and it shall be my last... Along with this I've got a few job interviews lined up, it's hard getting a chance at jobs in these times but it's a start... My quitting smoking is directly related to 'ibles - I want money to fund projects, and I want money to socialize etc. Next week I shall have a project that's been long awaited by many if I get the metal working done in tech... Speaking of tech all is well there too, course is brilliant and I've been doing loads of interesting stuff. It's seems a bit odd to be posting all this stuff but many an 'ibler has given me abuse about smoking, though it was far beyond their rights to criticize me personally or make irrelevant comments I do think it's about time I quit, 5 years wasting money. Anybody else any life changes?Notable lack of lovelife rubbish, it's too topsy turvy to get in to without a ten thousand word essay...

Hello, I bought a new system with Segate 2 TB internal hard disk about a week ago. I have Windows 7 running on my PC. Till yesterday my system working fine. Today when i tried to start my system, I see the Intel logo and press f2 for bios and F10 for Boot menu. It does not move from there. I am not able to access BIOS Setup. And BIOS is accessible if I remove the hard disk. If i connect hard disk it does not move from the Intel logo. I tried to connect my hard disk (2TB Segate) to another system, it booting and working fine. I even tried other hard disks (500gb & 1TG Segate) in my new system it booting and working fine. But when i try with the 2TB in my new system I see the Intel logo and press f2 for bios and F10 for Boot menu. It does not move from there. I am not able to access BIOS Setup. I did not get any error message. I would like thank everyone for the support in advance ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Intel I5 3470 Intel DH77EB 2TB Segate 16 GB (8*2) RAM 2GB Graphic Card.
