I have been saving pop bottle caps for a short time now. But with the amount of pop my wife and I drink I am going to have them coming out of my ears in no time. So anyone have any crafting ideas to do with pop bottle caps? One thing I thought of was to make a computer case out of them. But maybe I have watched that video of the guy making an 8-bit Zelda case out of wooden blocks too much.

Ok.... I have literally exhausted every avenue I can. All I can find are already done bottle cap beads and their finished jewelry. NO WHERE have I found the instructions on how to actually make the beads themselves. I need help. This is driving me INSANE! Basically you take to bottle caps(and MAYBE you round em out with a ball peen hammer) Then you weld? glue? them together and drill holes thru them. I have hundreds and hundreds of bottle caps for this project. All I need are the instructions to do this project. I am begging anyone out there who knows of, or has made these please, please... Write me here, communicate with me telepathically.... Something.. Anything! I am begging my fellow Instructians for assistance! Thank you in advance!! Johana P.S. I am posting a picture of what the finished things look like. Some have the wavy edges and some don't I don't care if they have one of the other. I just need to make these guys!!

I, for some reason, save these things, and I have a lot. Is there anything that's at least a little functional, other than a noise device, that anyone can think of using them for. I hate to throw them away. Something that serves a function would be great! Thanks

I have an issue with some bad capacitors and I have read conflicting information on the matter and hope someone can help me. I have 2 different caps that have to be replaced one is 10v 1500 microfarad and the other is 6.3v 1500 microfarad. First can I use the capacitors that are all silver in color with no plastic sheating (not sure of the name; pics included) because I have a bunch that are 6.3v 1500 microfarad? As for the other capacitor I do not have that exact value, I have 10v in 1000 microfarad, 1200 microfarad, and 2200 microfarad, but I have one that is 16v 1500 microfarad, what I'm mostly wondering is what can be changed the voltage or the capacitance? And would one of those work for the 10v 1500 microfarad capacitor I need or should I just ebay it? Due to a postal strike I may not get it for a while and like most I needed it fixed yesterday. I am fairly new to trying to learn electronics and hope someone can shed some light on my problem.

Working at my desk, I realized I need a nice restock for my parts- I have a lot of resistors on order (pretty much the Radioshack assortment but cheaper), but I need capacitors. I dont know a whole lot of electronics, so I dont know what values are common and widely used- so I need to know what values would be good in a large capacitor assortment (Values anywhere from nf to 4700uf are available where I am ordering.. so a good large assortment) Thanks! -Astroboy907

Hello, I want to fill my beer bottle cap table in with clear resin and I am wondering how much resin i will need. I have done the math myself but I think I may be wrong. The table is 85"x36"x.25" (has trim up to the cap height) If i did the math correctly I will need 2 gallons of resin. I just want to confirm before I buy $120 worth of resin. The beer bottle caps are roughly 1"x1"x.25" and there are about 2300 of them. so what i did for math was 85x36 = 3060 (x .25) = 765. 765 / 12 = 63.75 square feet 1 gal of resin covers 32 square feet 2 gals needed correct? but then i tried to plug in how much space the caps take up and if i can get away with just 1 gal. so 2300x.25 = 575 square inches 575/12 =47.91 square feet 63.75-47.91 = 15.84 square feet which means 1 gal of resin would be plenty..... am i doing this math correct? thanks for the help!

You know those caps they had back in the 20s and 30s, the ones where the top would kinda hang out over the bill, kinda like the one in the pic, but not exactly. Well, does anybody know how to make one? If you can make one, then please post an I'ble, 'cause I've been needing one for a while and can't find any. By the way, the one on the right is sideways, incase of any confusion. I was kicked off of Yahoo! Answers today. I never realized how much of a slave I was to them. You Instructables people are smarter. I am leaving Yahoo! I have switched over to my Gmail account, and I'm happy. I've asked about this cap on Yahoo, and never got an answer. But you guys/gals are smarter and craftier, and I can actually go a good while on here without calling someone an idiot, unlike Yahoo. Well, have fun crocheting, knitting or sewing a cap from the long ago(if you'd like to).

Hey guys, recently I scored a Samsung 943nw monitor from my friend who says it's broken. So i thought, why not try repair it? Upon opening the lcd monitor up, I can see that the caps were bulging, samwha brand. The infected caps were three 25v 820µF and two 10v 1000µF. I went and sourced the caps from a couple of devices (a modem, and a power supply) When I turned the lcd on, the led was blinking. After the repair(with my crappy soldering skills), the monitor turned on, but not the backlight. I figured that the cc backlight inverter was spoiled. Then, after a probing at the components, I reset the monitor in hopes that the inverter would work. Instead, now the monitor showed no signs of life. Probing again showed that the 5v rail was 8.45v and 15v rail was 4.5v and 3.3v was ov. I still can't find the problem after hours of searching. (and a fatal electrocution from the mains input cap). Could it be my bad soldering, parts or some transistor problem? DId I also accidentally fry the image processing module?

If not, what industry would have old capacitors cheap that still work, I'm looking around 300 volts 1 Farad or more

Here is a concept I came up with a while ago. Basically, it is just a mechanism that allows a normal grey connector mag (I.e. One that would be used vertically) to be used horizontally, and so solving the problem of the low capacity of traditional knex horizontal magazines. However it is not without issues. The model used in these pictures is rather large, and there is an issue where the pusher cannot push the last connector out fully. Anyway, I thought I'd just I'd post this so if anybody is interested, they can use this concept and/or improve it so all issues are fixed. Just make sure to give me credit pictures: 1) overview 2/3) overview of the mechanism 4) the red rod blocks the rotating mechanism so that no ammo falls out when not in use. Pull it out to initiate feeding

I was looking at this instructable ignition coil and I built it without a capacitor, it worked fine except the coil gets hot after even very short run-times. So he confirmed that I needed a capacitor to stop the overheating. So I added one. I used the kind he told us to use (film) and I tried multiple ones, but none worked. He told us not use the metal can type so I didn't at first, but later I got a really big one and tried it. It was the only one I got to work, but then it exploded, so now I don't know what to do. He hasn't gotten back to me, although it hasn't been very long so I don't accuse him, I would just like to know. The capacitors are storing a charge, its just not running the coil for some reason.

I need some help. For a project I need to charge a few large capacitors to 350+ volts ( 2x 6000uF, 400 volts) . Normally, you would use a flash-circuit from a disposable camera. Unfortunately, they are quite hard to get these days. None of the stores who sell them here have any leftovers, and buying 10 of these cameras for 4 € each would become a little to expensive. When I used one of them (which I found somewhere hidden away) it started to overhead and lighted itself on fire. I would also like to avoid having to plug anything in the wall outlet. That is why I need some ideas for circuits that can boost a voltage of between 1.5 and 12 volts DC, to something near 400 DC and somewhere near 40 mA. Is there anybody who has some ideas?

Please post links to sites or supply any ideas. thanks.

I have desoldered a couple of old radios etc. and am trying to identify all the components I have harvested. Amongst them I have some green mylar caps. One such cap has the markings: 2A473J I did a bit of research and found out that usually the first two numbers is the significant figures and the third is the number of zeros. Assuming its not counting the 2A, I'm guessing this cap is 47000pF or .047μF. and I found out that the J is +/-5% tolerance? Firstly, is everything I have worked out/ assumed true and if so and the cap is .047μF, what does the 2A mean? Others say 2A73J, 2A103J, 2A332J, 2A222J, 2A102J Ceramic ones say 4, 22, 30, 33, 102, 103, 104, 203, 221, 222, 331, 332, 333, 473, 682, 683 And I also have 4 of another type of cap that I don't know the name of- they are shown in the 3rd picture. the two smaller ones say 474 on, one say 8.0M and the other:16.93M Thanks in advance

I'm currently trying to fix my Xbox One power supply. I'm curious about the microfarad rating for my Xbox power supply I have discovered a bad capacitor and now I'm looking to replace the blown capacitor with a new one from my Xbox 360 power supply but it is 2200 microfarads instead of 1600 microfarads I was wondering is it acceptable to replace them with the 2200 rating instead of a 1600 rating. I also have a 1200 rated on all of these are 16V.

So i want to make a coffee table/beer pong table. like this http://media.pongalong.com/images/bestbeerpongtables/BudLightBeerPongTable.jpg So it is going to be 3' x 8' and i want to have 2 sets of legs underneath of it. A short set for the coffee table and another set that are taller to use it as a beer pong table, or just a regular table for that matter. So my main question is where can i find locking hinges for the Table legs? I have found some, but don't seem to be very heavy duty. I want them to be able to lock the legs in the horizontal position to hide them under the table while the other legs are locked in the vertical position. Also does anybody have any suggestions for cheap fiberglass or resin to coat the bottle caps. Didn't realize how expensive the stuff is. Cheaper is better.

I am trying to build a nice sleeping arduino, using schematics from here (http://interface.khm.de/index.php/lab/experiments/sleep_watchdog_battery/) I need to know if I have to include load caps for the 16mhz crystal. I am using interrupts mostly, but I will aadd delay functionality. It will have to be off for possibly 4 hours at a time- maybe up to 24 hours if I go really slow- exact timing is not a problem, I just need it to be power efficient. About how much drift would I have using a watchdog timer for a 24 hour delay? Would it just be easier to have an RTC?
