How do people make cartoons smooth? Answered

Hi, I am wondering how people make animations that are smooth, because in the stop motion animation, things always come out choppy for me.  Do you have to take an amazing amount of photos, than speed the play back time up, or do people use a program that fills in the gaps?  THIS IS WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO DO.(CLICK THIS)   The video is just passed the little intro.  Any help and info would be great! :D  Thanks in advance.

Arduino/Lilypad to play sound effects?

Hi there. I am looking to turn myself into a living cartoon. What the hell am I talking about you say? I want to use various accelerometers, bend sensors, and the like to detect certain movements/actions and play a certain accompanying cartoon sound effects (think Johnny Bravos whip noises when he poses. etc.) How would I go about using either lilypad or a regular ol arduino unit to control sounds? I would obviously need mp3/wav capability.

I may have selected a username that not only represents me as a poor speller, but also someone who is unfamiliar with the relative intelligence of the gnu. It's certainly no raven, magpie, or blackbird. (Though cartoons have taught me that laboratory mice and platypi are unusually bright as well.) Warning: this video contains graphic cuteness and an unsurprising ending.

What do the symbols on the head of Japanese cartoon animation mean?

While watching some Japanese cartoons on TV, I always noticed that some symbols appear on the head of the characters. Sometimes a sweat drop appears when they are aggravated or embarrassed. Sometimes I have seen what looks like crosses, periods and other symbols and shapes. Since I am not familiar with Japanese culture, can someone explain me what these symbols mean? Thank you.

Another Star Wars?!

When I entered the lobby of our movie theater after watching the funny (yet disgusting at times) Zohan movie, I caught a glimpse of this trailer. At first, I thought it was a cartoony parody of starwars (perhaps a joke in that Panda movie, all I saw was Yoda). This could not be serious, the animation looked like something straight out of the Incredibles. After some investigation I discovered it was totally cereal. It is a trailer for a 90 minute long preview of a cartoon network series. Who would pay to go to the movies to watch a 90 minute preview?! This is the description of the youtube video:The 90-minute premiere episode of the CGI animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars will have a limited release in U.S. cinemas starting August 15th.Not only will this be the first 3-D animated movie for the highly-successful saga, but this will also be the first Star Wars movie not released through Twentieth Century Fox. Fox released all six Star Wars movies, plus the original microseries The Clone Wars on home video. But Warner Bros. and Turner Broadcasting will release Star Wars: The Clone Wars this time. The principle reason is that Turner's and W.B.'s subsidiary, The Cartoon Network, managed to snag the rights to the series from creator George Lucas.Star Wars: The Clone Wars on The Cartoon NetworkThe new series will premiere this fall on The Cartoon Network, later airing on TNT."I felt there were a lot more Star Wars stories left to tell," said George Lucas in the press release for Star Wars: The Clone Wars. "I was eager to start telling some of them through animation and, at the same time, push the art of animation forward.""Nothing like this has ever been produced for television," said Stuart Snyder, President/COO Turner Animation,Young Adults & Kids Media. "For 30 years, Star Wars has shown that it appeals to a huge breadth of fans. Star Wars: The Clone Wars on Cartoon Network will be appointment television for everyone in the family. We're thrilled to be working with Lucasfilm again and very excited to be playing a role in bringing this remarkable adventure to viewers."The Star Wars we all know and love has been reduced to a cheap cartoon, made with the sole purpose of trying to squeeze as much money out of the name as possible. Star Wars looks like a cheap joke now, it's just sad, really.

How to watch the second season of Survive This?

I love all things survival, and I used to love Survivorman with Les Stroud. After he stopped his Survivorman series, he made a new show called Survive This. It's about survival among kids. I love this show, and have watched the entire first season. The second season is out now, but it being a Canadian TV show, I can't seem to watch it on my TV, or even find a place to watch it online. Season One was on Cartoon Network, so I could watch that. Cartoon Network dropped the show, though, so now I can't find a place to watch Season Two. Can anyone help me? Thanks!

Snow Globes

This is a fun winter craft project and/or holiday present! Make a Snow GlobeEveryone loves snow globes, except perhaps those with hearts that are two sizes too small. It's easy to make your own, featuring an object that means something to you or to the globe's delighted recipient. You can choose something traditional, such as a little plastic Santa, or something unexpected — maybe a golf tee or a figurine of a licensed cartoon character. Pink flamingoes are always appropriate.Read more:

Mice or mouses?

I was going to go off topic on an I'ble, but thought the question would be better asked in the forums. I have always wondered if the plural of mouse (as in the one connected to your PC) is the same as the plural of mouse as in the rodent (or favourite cartoon character). I think that the PC mouse is named after the rodent because of the physical similarity, but does that mean that they are the same? Plural of mouse (rodent), is mice. Plural of mouse (PC), mice or mouses? What are your thoughts? N.B. I have been drinking.

Is this a copy right problem? Using google images.

Instructables seems strict about authors using their own images.  If I want to use a cartoon figure of Garfield, for example, embedded into other art work I'm doing, would that be allowed?  The Garfield image would just be something I would google image, but it won't be standing alone - it would be incorporated into some other diagrams I'm making. Just wondering if that's allowed or if I should just stay away from it totally.

NOT Ratfink, but Batfink. Has anybody ever seen this show? You know, with Batfink's super sonic sonar radar, his wings of steel that cannot be harmed, evil genius Hugo-a-go-go, his sidekick Karate, the Battillac that looks like a VW-bug and always makes Batfink glad that it has a thermo-nuclear plutonium insulated something, the announcer that always stops right before something horrible will happen to Batfink and asks us what will happen, and the chief. I used to watch it on Boomerang, but they stopped airing it. It's a funny and cool show, made by Hal Seeger.

Simpsons Map

The Simpsons are awesomely hilarious. I remember when my parents thought it was too vulgar for my child mind to handle. And now it's a very tasteful and often smart cartoon. Some dude took the time to collect all the different locations from every episode and created this completely insane map.I guess if you ever plan to visit The Simpsons you'll know how to get around.Oh, if you want to brush up on your episodes, here's where you can watch them online for free, legally:The Simpsons Episodes.

Little magical dancing toys... how do they work?? Answered

I was in Italy, and I saw a few street vendors selling these little paper figures in the form of Disney cartoon characters that would dance when music was played. They had little strings for legs, and they seemed to hover magically in the air and bounce around in time to the music. When the vendor turned down the volume, the little thing stopped dancing. I looked at the back of it, and all I saw was a little strip that looked magnetic. I am mystified. Does anyone what these things are called or how they work?

Do you have any method for interactive bedtime stories?

I have a question, do any of you have any method for interactive bedtime stories? When I come home from work, and it's  late, Molly's already slowly getting ready to sleep. I read her stories, we watch cartoons together, but it probably is not the best way to spend time the evening together. I don't want to play with my kid in activities that envolve motion, because I know that even after 15 minutes, Molly will awaken and will never go to sleep.

What props/armor are a must-make in the DIY world?

I'm currently looking towards making something like weapons, armors, etc., specifically those with origins from movies, cartoons, video games, etc. Other than the ones everyone does such as Halo, Iron Man, knight armor, etc. what other armor, weapons, or accessories are a must-make or just plain awesome? Think along the lines of something like the Batman gauntlet, except from movies (or something) that are old but still remembered and cool. Also thinking of a long term project of a chiken-walker mech costume, exoskeleton costume (NOT Iron Man), or AT-RT. What do you think?
