Can you piggyback RF communications on cellular transmit/receive frequency bands ?

My question is purely hypothetical and there is no immediate plans for any such application. But I was just curious is it possible to make use of the cellular frequency bands (as set out by a country's regulations and by the cellular providers) for some sort of covert type communication other than for voice, data or text types of cellular communications ? Would it be too difficult and complex to develop such an application that uses cellular radio frequencies or could it be done without too much concern for potential interference or the sharing of channels of nearby normal cellular transmissions ? Could such an application be developed without having to cross over many hurdles ? If this covert communications is possible would the cell frequencies used not reach the base stations of the wireless carriers as noise or can a peer to peer communications be possible by passing the base stations ?

How to hook up a solar panel to power Wilson Cell Amp.

Hey guys, I've got this old solar panel my Grandpa gave me a while back. On the back it reads: Power  >5watts Voc       >22v Isc         >450mA Vop       >13.5v And that it has a built in diode to prevent feedback. I've got 2 6v batteries, about 1/4 size of a car battery. (they're pretty standard, so I'm sure they would relate to anything you'd see lying around). I want them wired in Series for the full 12v. I've also got a female cigarette lighter adaptor.  What I want to do is charge the batteries up with the solar panel and then power the Cell Amp with the solar panel too. I'd like them to both be there at the same time (solar charge and power the amp) if possible. I guess I want to know if I need some sort of voltage regulator, like the Burton one, and if this old panel will even charge up the batteries with only 5w and 450mA. Also, any estimates on how long I can power the cell booster on one set of batteries? I'm sorry for the novice question. I've taken a couple electrical engineering classes and forgot almost everything :(. Anyway, I just don't want to do something wrong and explode my batteries or overpower my $$$Expensive$$$ amplifier.

What about a Mobile version of Instructables?

Hey guys, What do you think of a Mobile Version of Instructables for your iPod touch, iPhone, iPad or what ever else !  Lots of popular websites have started do make the mobile version of their website so that almost all of the website features would be available for mobile users. Like Youtube, Facebook or eBay. It would be great because important features cannot be used on the iPod; - We can't comment on 'ibles or post questions and write on forums - We can't see the annotations in the pictures - We can only see 2nd or 3rd pictures in an 'ible by loading all the page again and get down to the correct step - A mobile version would be lighter and faster to load on mobile devices - We can't see slideshows - We can't use full size pictures - Some others.. So that is why I think there should be a mobile version of Instructables ! Tell me what you think of this idea !

Cellular NiMH battery pack; can they be charged directly ?

I have some perfectly good Nokia battery packs from useless 5165 phones (Model "bms-2s"). They are 3.6 - 3.7V NiMH and have 4 flat copper contacts which 'make' with the phones by sliding on. The Phones have matching 'teeth' and happily 'smart' charge either these or the newer LI batteries. (Clear pic here: http://www.jpldisplays.com.au/catalog/images/CPB-BLS2N.jpg ) I want to know if it is OK to simply connect the matching output from the charger across the +/- terminals (the 2 outer ones AFAIK...) and charge them directly ? These work great to power LEDs and I already made a 5165 LED torch, but it was a pain to do and I'd rather just use the batteries naked. Thanks for any info !

How can we build a cheap detector that senses a cellular (electromagnetic?) for use as a switch for a computer?

Hi all, we want to use a cellular phone as a "switch" to control a multimedia show. We thought of a cheap sensor that must be able to detect electromagnetic waves through a store window. We thought of phones because everyone has one in they pocket, phone is simply the source of the field. Idea is that customers can move their mobile phones in front of our store window to control a multimedia show in a simple way (forward, backward, pause), so in the end three or four different switches glued to the window would perform as a "control pad" for the computer. Maybe there is a way to base this project on products readily available which can be remodeled. Thanks for sour suppport and ideas! Nomax

Cell phone radiation boosts brain cell activity in brand new study

Brain cells are impacted by cell phone radiation in accordance with a recent study. The study detected an increase in the metabolism of brain cells. Brain cells were affected in the part of the brain near the antenna of the mobile phone. Brain cells are definitely impacted by cell phone use, according to the research, however further research is needed to discover out if that's a bad thing. Source of article - Cell phone radiation increases brain cell activity in new study by MoneyBlogNewz. Cellular phone brain cell research first done The first research undertaken to examining how electromagnetic radiation from cell phones impacts brain cells was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association on Tues. The research focused on how cellular phone use affects normal brain cell function, known as glucose metabolism. The rate of glucose metabolism in brain cells was increased more than researchers were hoping with cell phone exposure. When it comes to brain activity, the way it's done is with cells creating energy. This is done with glucose. The way brain cells work is that it is produced as necessary. The glucose is produce whenever it is needed by the brain. It's unknown if it's bad or not, however it was found in the study that glucose metabolism amounts are increased artificially with a mobile phone. Further research needs to be done though. How mobile phones affect the brain With all the phone calls going on, cell phone radiation has concerned medical experts. They have worried about what it's doing. The outcomes of previous tests have been inconclusive. A connection with brain cancer was found in famous cellular phone radiation studies. The proof that brain cancer was actually brought on by mobile phones in cell phone users was not there though. There are other things scientists have tried to ling cell phone radiation to. Such things as cancer or dementia due to brain cell mutation are examples. The effect of cell phones on children's brains has been a particular concern because children have thinner skulls, the radiation penetrates deeper and their brain cells metabolize glucose faster. Try to choose speakerphone In a statement responding to the cellular phone brain cell research, the Wireless Association said scientific evidence proves that cell phones, used within limits established by the Federal Communications Commission, don't pose a public health risk. The way cellular phone radiation affects the brain is nevertheless unknown really. Until more research is done, experts suggest Bluetooth earpieces and speakerphone should be used as often as possible. internet for xbox live

I used to have high speed internet., the service provider was AT&T. One day we could not get internet. at&t said we had it. The main point is that we don;t have any more. I was looking into one of those connect cards, and wondered is it fast enough for xbox live. Do you need 3G coverage for it to work.. I live right out side the boundry between 3G and the lower bit for Verizion. I checked a local cell phone service coverage and its the same thing as Verizion. My question is what do I do. Are the conect cards fast enough any way or what. And if so, who has the best. the cheapest, and the best MB limit.  Who should I go with and what do I do. My local cell company is Cellular South. I was looking at CS's Huawei EC 168 Data Card. Just google cellular south connect card to find it.  I am definetly going to get the 5 gigs of possible downloads.(if my parents will pay for it) I am only 14, so I can't do a whole lot. SAMSUNG GALAXY SII SKYROCKET TROUBLE!!! INFURIATING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE HELP!

I recently was given a samsung galaxy SII skyrocket that was being used on the AT&T network as a contract phone. I have a pay-as-you-go phone from straight talk wireless, which uses the GSM network on AT&T towers. Because of this, i thought that if i switched my SIM card from my previous phone into the Galaxy SII, it may work and function just like normal, since AT&T usually supports unlocking their phones and i know straight talk supports unlocked phones. To my surprise, and delight, it worked seamlessly for most aspects of the calling/texting portion of features. The only problem i've found is, despite both phones using the same towers and me paying for an unlimited data connection, the Galaxy SII refuses to pick up any kind of data connection or 3G signal. This means i cannot use many features of the phone itself, certain features of applications i have installed, or even get on facebook. however, the most annoying, frustrating, and honestly infuriating problem is; it won't let me send or download picture messages, which i do often!!! Is there any way i can get a data connection with the Galaxy SII without going back to my crappy old phone?????? or having to pay for an AT&T contract?!?!?!?!? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: dipole HD antenna?

I noticed in Home Depot 4' x 8' sheets of metal lathe used for putting stucco on housing exteriors.  It was cellular with each cell being an elongated hexagon approx 5/8 inches in length.  The long sides of each cell had been bent at 20-30 degrees (guess) to provide a cavity based substructure for the stucco.  My thoughts went to the fractal antenna posted by williamruckman  on Jan 3, 2009.  An interior attic roof would provide an invisible and safe location similar to the entry point for a dish cable.  The lathe could be shaped virtually without limitation for tuning.  Thoughts??  VR?

What would you take with you in case of catastrophe ...

Hi =o)Kiteman's story made me wonder that :If, in the middle of the night, you had to leave your home very quickly (in a matter of minutes) because of a coming great catastrophe (hurricane, flood, fire, alien invasion ...), and given that everything you'll left will be definitively lost, what would you take with you ?Personally, I think I'd try to take :- my cat (despite that's probably not the most rational decision as I don't have a box to carry her safely)- a bag with my most important administrative and official papers- my USB keys with all my work- my cellular phone- a flashlight- and maybe a bottle of water ...And if remains enough time, I'd probably try to gather as much things as possible into my backpack/rucksack ...What would be your list ?edit : of course, it's obvious to me that none of us would abandon someone he/she loves ! ;o)

Powering a Wi-Fi router from USB

Hello guys! Few days ago I bought a Huawei B260a 3G Wifi Router (http://www.mobilityminded.com/6685/huawei-b260-3g-gateway-review-routing-a-cellular-data-connection). The power supply has an output of 5V/2A and is connected to the router with a USB B plug. In my car I have a Belkin USB charger with 2,1A output. So it would be nice if I could use the router in my car. I tried to connect the Router to a USB wall charger (5,1V/2,1A) with a standard USB A to B cable, but this didn't work. Furthermore I tried to cut the cable and connect only the black and red wires, this also didn't work. Somebody told me that the layout of the plug is different (as far as I've seen, at least the contacts match to the standard), can this be true? And is there a possibility to realize my idea of a hotspot in my car? Thanks for your help!

homemade signal booster? Answered

I was trying to figure out how to boast my signal coverage in my area, and a got an idea: to use a UHF amplifier, to pick up the towers signal and rebroadcast it. of coarse since things like WiFi, Bluetooth, and cellular 2G/3G/4G networks use two way radio, the signal can go back to the reviving end of the UHF amp, and get broadcasting to hit whatever tower. my phone should better recognize the tower, as if i just magically made a tower 2 feet away. however this might also amplify stay noise. if this idea doesn't work, why not? i think i am going to need at least a 20dB increase in power, but as of now i  need to do more research. but if i can buy a product that does a similar thing for less than $40, i would. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_zone_(cell_phone)#Dead_zones  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Repeater http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless_spectrum (cellphones use UHF spectrum) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Signal_booster

Nanotube Radio

Nanotube Radio: Supplementary materialsK. Jensen, J. Weldon, H. Garcia, and A. ZettlDepartment of Physics, University of California at BerkeleyCenter of Integrated Nanomechanical Systems, University of California at BerkeleyMaterials Sciences Division, Lawrence Berkeley National LaboratoryBerkeley, CA 94720, U.S.A.We have constructed a fully functional, fully integrated radio receiver, orders-of-magnitude smaller than any previous radio, from a single carbon nanotube. The single nanotube serves, at once, as all major components of a radio: antenna, tuner, amplifier, and demodulator. Moreover, the antenna and tuner are implemented in a radically different manner than traditional radios, receiving signals via high frequency mechanical vibrations of the nanotube rather than through traditional electrical means. We have already used the nanotube radio to receive and play music from FM radio transmissions such as Layla by Eric Clapton (Derek and the Dominos) and the Beach Boy's Good Vibrations. The nanotube radio's extremely small size could enable radical new applications such as radio controlled devices small enough to exist in the human bloodstream, or simply smaller, cheaper, and more efficient wireless devices such as cellular phones....This is the site of the original article

Boy inventor re-imagines doorbell, gets VERY rich!

A 13-year-old boy from Croydon is set to make hundreds of thousands of pounds after inventing a doorbell that calls the householder if no-one answers the door. The boy entered a school "Dragons' Den" type contest, and ended up with his idea in production.  Orders made so far should earn him £250,000 ($411,000).  Three of his fellow contestants ended up with full patents on their ideas, and one other is negotiating with a Chinese manufacturer to get his idea on the shelves.  That boy is only twelve! Dubbed Smart Bell, the device came about in response to a competition hosted by Rook's London school. The contest, however, necessitated a working prototype. Rook's parents passed the plans along to a family friend, Paula Ward (crowned world's top female inventor of 2004 at INPEX), who sent the plans to China. Less than a year after its development, major U.K. retailers have signed up to sell the Smart Bell, which will retail for £40, or about $66. The Smart Bell has a built-in SIM card and other cellular technology that will call the owner's phone. The unit also produces some subtle white noise that mimics the effect of an intercom.

blutooth telephone

Hi people who are smarter than me! I have been searching the great Google for the past while and I cannot find something that does this. I love the portability of cellphones and i love the look an feel of landlines (you cannot beat the look of a phone on a a desk. What I want is a device that connects to my cellular telephone wirelessly and that a landline can plug into. This means that it must supply about 40 - 60 VDC to power an old phone that DOES NOT HAVE EXTERNAL POWER SUPPLY so it could operate a touch tone phone from the 80's and 90's. When I get a call on my phone I want it to ring the phone. When I pick up the handset I want it to answer the call and allow me to talk to the person. When I place a call I want to be able to pick up the handset and then dial a 10 digit number and then it place the call through my cell phone. During the call I want to be able to press a number on the landline and for it to press that number on my phones keypad. when i put the handset down i want it to hang up. Is this even possible? can it be done? let me know! Thanks! scott

GPS reciever from cell phone!

Okay, i just got back from an air force base on a extremely classified training mission. but while i was there i learned a little known fact about a device that almost EVERYONE has in there pockets right now! well let me first tell you about a law that was passed somewhere between 2000-2005 that states " all cellular devices produced after this date must have a Global Positioning Service "GPS" device/module installed". so all post millennium cell phones have GPS in them and enabled for mostly federal uses. Your cellphone service providers such as Verizon have barely caught on to the trend and realized that since they already have a virtually unused GPS device inside why not utilize it? so they added a GPS service to it. thought not bug free, it is and amazing device for its size. it can give you position, speed, and altitude! so my question is as follows... how in the heavens can we "extract" and "utilize" this chip from our old our spare cell phones? this is possible but how? possibly paired with and Arduino? if anyone has a degree in engineering or a local library and the ingenuity to reverse engineer a mobile device, then the possibilities are endless! this is up to you instructables community!

Is there something going on in my head? Answered

Well, I don't have a mental problem or anything, but it often gets weird and I just can't help but to ask. I'll recount several months before, around March or May last year. I was practicing Morse code, practicing with visuals, practicing with audios. After a few weeks of practice, I started hearing Morse code in my head, as in out of nowhere I literally hear it (completely random, it's not spelling out anything last I checked). I asked around about it (deleted the question though) and someone mentioned it's not normal/it's rare. Then fast forward into around November or December, I keep hearing that Morse encoded "SMS" ring-tone from a phone (it's quite popular here, heard it more than a thousand times). I kept searching for that cellular phone, but to no avail. I covered my ears with pillows, and I still kept hearing it. I then concluded that it was in my head. The end result was I couldn't fall asleep for 3 hours lying down on the bed. It's something like LSS (Last Song Syndrome, search it up if you don't know it) to the extremes (to the point that it resonates in your head and you can hear it as an audible tone not from your thoughts). Any thoughts as what may have been causing this?

IoT data logger for large file transfers - what protocol to use? (FTP, HTTP, MQTT, …)

Hi there, We manufacture CAN bus data loggers for use in e.g. cars, trucks etc.The logger records data to an SD card. When the logger is in range of a WiFi/Cellular hotspot, it will start pushing the data to a specified server. The files will be ½-20 MB in size and need to be transferred frequently (e.g. every few seconds). A user can have 100-300 loggers deployed, all sending data to the server simultaneously. Today, we handle this using the FTP protocol. It’s been a simple solution that most users understand. However, we fear it’s not future proof and we’d like to look into other options (e.g. HTTP, MQTT) - in particular also to enable easy transfers to e.g. Amazon/Google cloud servers.A few questions that we’d like input on:What do you believe would be the best protocol for the case described above? Do you have any examples of use cases, APIs, open source code etc. in such applications? If we switch from FTP to another protocol, is there a way to keep it simple for our “less techy” users that do not use e.g. Amazon/Google servers, but just their own PCs?Thanks a ton for your inputs! Martin

How can I get my Sony PlayStation2 Game Saves Transfered to my Laptop?

NO I DO NOT WANT TO MAKE A FLASH DRIVE OUT OF MY PS2 MEMORY CARD!!  What i want to do is maybe create an adapter that will plug my ps2 memory card directly to my laptop by USB?? like if possible a total plug & play type hack...  Be able to transfer my game saves to my laptop and also transfer other saves from my laptop back to the ps2 memory card so that it will still work and play when i go back to playing a game on the Sony PlayStation2.  Kinda like how i can plug my Verizon LG cellular phone from its charging port with the USB wall wart adapter to my laptop port and i can straight up just move/copy/transfer files around instantly and it still functions. **I've bought a PS2/PS3 memory card adapter unit from store and it did nothing, I tried on my friends PS3 to see if anything can be done there. thought for what I want/NEED it to do it WON'T so thats just a waste.  I've also seen somewhere someone posted a simple hack of a PS2 controller pinout to some other PC Port dunno if maybe can do similar for my purpose... pic included..

Re-purposing Cel-phone Li-ION batteries?

Excuse me Please: I have a rather advanced Q on the re-purposing of Li-ION batteries. {history} the tiny battery within the SanDisk Sansa, I found to have a deplorable duration. So in disassembling the Sansa, I discovered it had a seemingly standard 3 pin Li-ION battery (red, green, black). Since a celphone of mine recently died, which I retained it and its battery, I decided to wire the albeit, larger, battery into the Sansa. I was gratified in the the Sansa worked as expected, but worked for literal contiguous DAYS at a charge!! (seems I had forgotten to turn it off in coming from the gym, to return to it the next day and it was still playing!) Now, my conundrum: due to the change in cellular tower technologies, and being forced to change to the newer "G" phone, I have an abundance of batteries, to which I continue to collect for myself and friends Sansa players with rewired batteries. In that the Motorola BQ-50 battery has four(4) pins, which are suggested as the following: pin 1 is battery + pin 2 is a communication line back to the phone pin 3 is a temp line back to the phone pin 4 is gnd pins 2 and 3 are used to tell the phone the charge condition of the battery and when the charge cycle is complete. would anyone here have the deeper electronics knowledge to advise me which pin of 2 or 3 can be omitted and still allow the battery to be charged via the USB like the original 3 pin battery? Thank you kindly for your time and knowledge. CAH

PH BALANCED NO-RINSE FOAMING SOAP ANYONE??

HI. My mom is bed ridden and we have to give her baths in bed. We have tried several different foaming no-rinse soaps and have found on that works the best: Medline Remedy 4-in-1 Body Cleanser. It is good in so many ways, pH Balanced, Non-allergenic, leaves her skin soft, smells great...nice sort of mango-vanilla smell. Problem is, it's $10 + per bottle, depending on where we get it. Here is the product description: Remedy 4-in-1 Body Cleanser cleanses, moisturizes, provides mild protection against transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and nourishes skin in one step. Helps reduce odor. Optimizes shelf space and nursing time. Ready-to-use, no-rinse foam stays in place to prevent product spills, waste and patient discomfort. One bottle contains over 340 pumps of foam.Harsh soaps and surfactants strip skin of moisture and contribute to TEWL. Remedy 4-in-1 Cleansers have a phospholipid base that binds both water and nutrients to gently clean and condition the skin. Remedy cleansers contain ingredients derived from natural and organic oils that mimic the body's natural lipids. Remedy cleansers can also be used during showers in place of soaps. The phospholipids will gently cleanse the skin without stripping it from its natural oils.Olivamine is a blend of antioxidants, amino acids, vitamins and methylsulfonylmethane (MSM). These ingredients are all known to play a vital role in basic cellular construction and protection. Olivamine contains antioxidants like hydroxytyrosol, the most potent antioxidant known today (derived from olives). It also contains amino acids like L-proline, L-cysteine and glycine - three of the main building blocks of collagen. These components are also treated with photoacoustic resonance to help minimize the tendency for inflammation, and to ensure they can be rapidly accepted by the skin.No-rinse foam for head-to-toe cleansing and conditioning. Indicated for hair, body, perineal and peristomal areas.Remedy is a trademark of Medline Industries, Inc. UPC is: 0 80196 30616 2 CAN ANYONE COME UP WITH A LESS EXPENSIVE, HOME-MADE OPTION TO THIS? Thanks

Project Collaboration?

I'm REALLY bored at work at the moment and need a personal project to distract me. The problem with past projects is I often run into problems or lose interest and they fall by the wayside. I was thinking that if the project was a collaboration I'd be more motivated and could call on people with better skills than me. Anyways I'll propose a few projects, and let me know if you are interested. Or if you've got an idea, post it up. I'd love to do something robotics related, but m programming skills aren't great. I can use "wrapper" environments, like Matlab and Arduino, but raw C++ isn't a strong point. I've got access to all the CAD stuff that would ever be needed, Pro/E, Solidworks, AutoCAD, ANSYS, Strand7. I've got some skills in and access to composite manufacturing, like carbon fibre and glass but no vacuum baggin facilities anymore. My first project idea is a bargraph type watch - kind of like the awesome binary watches here, but the time increments on a bargraph. I think only one bargraph to show the minutes would be necessary - you pretty much know the hour most of the time, and you could work it out using the minutes if it's around the hour. A ten segment display would give resolution of 6 minutes - good enough for most purposes. I could do the hardware layout and manufacturing for this project, but I don't think I could do the programming. how about a homemade SMS device? not the most practical when mobile phones are so small and cheap and would be WAY more fully featured, but I think it would be cool to have a homemade device that could at least send SMSs. Open source, single sided PCB, would be awesome. obviosuly as small as possible but maybe aim for something the size of a blackberry of treo? Not stylish maybe but maximum hacker cred thumb keyboard ---> microcontroller ---> cellular module&LCD GPS based car locator - I know this functionality exists in modern cars but certainly not my 1994 feroza - a box that sits in your car that SMSs you GPS coordinates if your car alarm is activated. I've been looking for this for ages in a commercial product but the prices are outrageous. Other more outlandish projects are a CNC machine and single sided, through-hole, no (or very little) programming MP3 player Any ideas?

Robo-Goat Lives - At least I hope he Will

OK here goes. I work at zoo and I am a self taught geek, (mainly old school). I recently volunteered for a project mainly because I'm too stupid to know that it's not possible :~) Purpose of the program/project To - Engineer, Design and Build an Animatronic Robot Goat for: a Cheetah Conservation Fund in Kenya, Africa. This device will replicate a live goat in: size; appearance; movement; sound and smell (smell supplied by others), that can withstand the sever conditions of the desert, durable, possibly solar powered and easy to transport, setup and operate. Note: Up until this point real goats have been tried but they have not been too successful. They were either too stressed or they were stolen for by locals their meat. Objective(s): To lure Cheetahs into an area and enticement them into a cage trap with a simulated live goat (Robo-Goat), to provide a safe humane and ethical capture of wild cheetahs so that recently acquired state of the art GPS/Cellular tracking collars can be placed on them to help gather information to preserve this endangered animal. Analog Radio Tracking Collars have provided the only way to gather much of the information for many different wild animals. Radio Tracking style of the past has always been a difficult and time consuming endeavor, with old style tracking, large heavy radio collars that broadcast a ”beep” continuously, must be tracked with specialized hand-held radios and yagi antennas. All this to locate an animal being studied. Many times you would have to get close enough to disturb the animal just to find out where it is and then try to track it. Obviously not good “normal behavior” data gathering. The new GPS/Cellular systems track the animal in real time and send back data coordinates on the animals location, elevation, speed and direction as it travels. This GPS information is sent via cell towers, (yes they have them in Africa), to a computer that logs and graphs the movements. The research gathered through these efforts may provide the answers to saving these endangered animals. Project design/methods: #1. Establish parameters Record video & audio movements and sounds of normal & panicked goats Research and study movements and demonstrate what mechanical requirements will be necessary to replicate the minimum needed movements - [DONE]. {Raise and lower head; Look left and right; open/close mouth} Determine movement engine {I'm not sure here} {All of the movements are really axial in nature} {At first I was thinking motors but then there are end stops, control systems, ect. To deal with} {next I'm considering solenoids for the low energy requirements and simple full scale movements, except you cant control the speed} {But now I am becoming fixated on model airplane actuators for low weight, low noise and appendage like joints and accessories} {then I ran across "pager motors" and how they are small powerful and inexpensive some how I don't know where to begin} {can you tell this is all still up in the air?} Throw distance & Speed of movement - [DONE]. {Raise and lower head = 90 degrees of arc from base of neck = 5 seconds max} { Look left and right = 90 degrees of arc from left to right with return to normal center point half way = full movement l-r = 2 seconds max i hope} {open/close mouth = 45 degrees of arc from lower jaw = 1 second max} Repetition rate & pattern {random if possible} Determine audio requirements - [DONE]. {this is easy but requires playback trigger synchronized with mouth} The Cosmetics: Determine body and outer skin requirements – [Engineering]. {aluminum wire frame mesh} {foam sculpted head for low mass} {foam wrap suit for body & legs for low mass} {tyvek skin, airbrushed or penned for low mass} {stainless steel / nylon joints for low mass} DB level of normal and panicked goats - [DONE] {I have determined audio system requirements} Determine control system requirements {clueless at this point} Determine power requirements {I'm thinking deep cell marine battery and solar panels to retain charge autonomously} {amp hour rating for battery and solar charging circuit TBD after R&D; tests} {if solar is not feasible them battery exchange schedule TBD} #2 Acquire all electronic and mechanical parts #3 Create mechanicals Fabricate lightweight frame and skeleton structure. Assemble motion joints and motion engine Assemble and test motor functions Determine estimate of MTBF for spare parts, if any #4 Create & install sound system Edit custom audio media for both normal & panicked goats Utilize 12v Solid State Audio Playback Unit # 5 Create Control System #6 R&D; Testing Test charging and power circuit Final assembly #7 Final test Any help to provide suggestions to get me started on the type of engines would be great. tia

5 Things I Like About the Blackberry Torch—And a Few I Don't

Is the Blackberry Torch much better than an apple iphone ? No, but right here are the explanations why it is good sufficient for me personally . Research moving amazed us a week back if this delivered a Blackberry Torch review device . Evidently , the organization sent many of them . It appears as though individuals at Edge are greater than a small anxious concerning the marketplace wedding reception for this telephone and it is general probabilities for achievement . I do not fault them. This polarizing item has evaluations which are mostly free of charge yet others which are currently phoning the Blackberry Torch 9800 underwhelming or even worse . Its earlier sales—150K within the very first weekend—are nowhere fast close to Iphone product sales amounts , however they are nevertheless reputable . Last 7 days , I acquired into a disagreement concerning the BlackBerry Torch having a Gizmodo publisher . This person is most likely two decades more youthful than me and may only see the Flashlight with the prism of the Iphone . The technologies now has wrinkles he explained and also the display quality , in the current 800-by-480 globe , is awkward . I would recently been transporting the Flashlight close to for several days , and that i merely could not accept him. I will not dispute the truth that the apple iphone 4 is a superb item . And also the lot of Google android mobile phones , with and with out key boards , are great items . I love the Android By , for example , although I believe it is too large to transport close to on the day time -to- day time foundation . I love the initial Android and Android 2, although I believe Moto continues to have some function to complete on that computer keyboard . The keyboard—really any cell phone keyboard—is, to some extent , in the core of my difference using the Gizmodo publisher . He, like a number of other earlier 20-somethings, is completely comfy with no bodily computer keyboard . I am not . There are lots of individuals during my era much like me and in all likelihood numerous current Edge clients who nevertheless choose Messaging mobile phones . But departing apart the yawning generational variations , I love the Flashlight and that i appreciate utilizing it . Furthermore I not skip my BlackBerry Bold 9000, I'm not going it back again . Here is why: 1) The Internet browser : Indeed , chiefly a credit score towards the Rim Operating system 6, but with no touchscreen and accelerometer, which allows me change from landscape and portrait setting , the knowledge would not be fifty percent of the same quality . It is certainly quicker , deals with practically any type of Site , and it is supported with a display that, whilst not as high definition like a Android or apple iphone , is definitely razor-sharp sufficient for my eye . 2) The House Display : Edge has been doing a pleasant work using the accessible property about the Flashlight display , and that i adore the way the display techniques remaining to correct and down and up . I'm able to reside in the All display , however , just like other configurable cellular systems , I'm able to personalize it too . You will find a number of symbols about the All display , so having the ability to transfer some to Faves is really a encouraged alter . I am also happy the written text information image has become towards the top of their email list . On my small Daring , I frequently skipped texts since the image was crammed nicely beneath digital collapse . Additionally , I love that a few of the essential applications , like Tweets , are actually a fall behind area of the program . 3) The Touchscreen : I did previously personal a Hand Treo and try to valued the mixture of contact and bodily inputting . Given , the old Hand display was limited . The Flashlight , however , isn't . I love will be able to use actions to maneuver with the numerous displays . Adding the touch and move is encouraged , although , I can not picture somebody starting an impression display without them . 4) The Look : The Flashlight is weightier than my Daring , however it seems excellent during my hands . The line is good , although not groundbreaking . There's something really Rim - ant concerning the Torch—and I am good with this . 5) The Laptop Keyboard and Touch pad : Indeed , the laptop keyboard has a smaller footprint along with a little bit much more confined than my Daring , but Edge has because of the secrets somewhat formed sides , so they are simpler to really feel . I'm able to nevertheless perform some inputting with out checking secrets . Basically kind with an apple iphone , I must view my cerebral vascular accidents ( do not detest me simply because I am aged ). Those who have a mature Contour or very first - era Daring will value the track pad . Nevertheless , the main reason it is fascinating about the Flashlight happens because it life correct beneath a complete touchscreen . In the beginning I asked yourself the reason why you would want the track pad using the motion - powered display . Nevertheless , I quickly grew to become skilled at utilizing it for just one really significantly feature—something that's not very easy to complete with an apple iphone : shifting a cursor close to via characters , phrases , and obstructs of textual content . On an apple iphone , I location my hand exactly where I wish to choose and maintain it before the cursor techniques to that particular place . Basically maintain for any 2nd lengthier , my choice resources seem . There isn't any good way to browse via textual content . The Torch's track pad allows me transfer my cursor anyplace I want—in connects and text—and then begin choosing , duplicating , sticking , and so on . It is a delicate distinction but one that is essential for a particular type of person .
