Clear Wireless Router?

I'm thinking about subscribing to Clear Wireless.. they want a $7 mo lease for the router. 1. Is their router proprietary or can I buy some generic wireless at Walmart or such? What do I buy? don't need anything fancy. 2. Radio Shack is carrying their product. The guy was going to give me the USB router but I'm worried I have to sign up for the $45 mobile service rather than the $35 home version. And money is super tight for me. If I buy a wireless printer will I have to buy a router to access it if I have the mobile/USB version? Thanks in advance to all you wise ones that help me. BTW: You watching Watson on Jeopardy tonight? Should be fun. WIPEOUT... humans that is.

Clear Pool Table

Not only is this pool table pretty amazing for being see-through and having the same action as a regular pool table, it's also a senior project that has been turned into a real business. Personally, I'm still a sucker for the felt and not being distracted by all the slick rails underneath. Also, at AUS $40,000 it's deep in luxury territory.I still hem and haw about dropping a few bucks to play on a nice, clean table at a parlor and only get a few games a year in at a friend's house (thanks, Jeff!). But if you have pools full of cash, here's one for you. Link

Machinable Clear Casting Resin

Hello, Does anyone know of a clear casting resin that when cured is also machinable?  I have an idea for a project that involves encasing objects in resin and then using power tools, milling machines, lathes, etc. to partially expose the object by cutting though it and the casting.  Any thoughts on what resin to use and where it can be purchased? Thanks!

Source for TOUGH CLEAR PLASTIC?

A lot of my tools like screwdrivers, combination wrenches etc lack a nice organized spot. I'd like to make tool rolls, but those I've made in the past don't really get used.  What I'd like to make is transparent tool rolls. Sometimes craftsman screwdrivers etc come in clear flexible packs. But I don't have those. I think I could fuse plastic to make my own, but need a source for that plastic. Ziplock bags? Transparent, yes, but Too flimsy.  So where to get somethin tougher?

Best Clear coat type?

Hello craftsmen! I like making props and thing from games and media i play, such as Corvo's sword from Dishonored. However, i have a problem with protecting them. After painting them with either acrylic spray or brush paint, I need a clear coat to protect it. I would prefer to use a aerosol paint, due to the ease and lack of smudging it gives. I generally use acrylic paint, either applied by brush or spray cans onto wood, pvc and metal. Does anyone know a good brand or type they use? I would prefer something available in the international markets and in places like dubai, singapore, india, etc. Thanks for reading, and please help!

Printing a circuit on clear plastic?

Hi Guys Inside most modern keyboards, you find a rubber membrane that presses a sandwich of three layers of plastic, with the upper and lower parts having circuits on them that make the contact. Is it possible to 'print' this type of circuit at home on standard laser or inkjet printers?  I could use Amanda's method with bare conductive ink, but printing would be better. Any info appreciated ;)

could someone cut a piece of plastic for me?

I have a mp4 player i got a few days ago, but i find that the original cover plastic has a sort of paint that, when combined with the glare of ambient sunlight, makes it totally impossible to use the player outside. not only that, but the plastic on the front got a really nasty scratch on it when i was cutting open the box. There isnt a screen protector on the player. if i gave the dimensions of the plastic part thats scratched (gold-silvery part of the player) could someone cut a new piece for me, be it laser cut, cnc milled, or by hand, whatever. all i ask is that its clear plastic. for those who would like to know the plastic is 1mm thick. if it could be done for free it would be so greatly appreciated.

Melting clear plastic (PET) into sheet

Aloha, I am working on recycled PET plastic for art projects. I have read everything that I can find on melting clear PET and reforming it. My issue is it keeping it clear or at least translucent for the art projects. I cut clear water bottles into small pieces and place on a cookie sheet and place in 500F degree oven. In about 3 mins it is liquid, still clear, and in the shape of the round pizza pan it is in. Almost immediately after I pull it out it begins to cool and turn white and opaque. So, my question is, is there something I can do to keep it clear? Is there possibly a cooling process to do this? Maybe slowly drop the temperature? Any help or tips will be greatly appreciated. Aloha, Tim

Electrically conductive clear resin or additive?

I'm looking to craft some tiny 2mm buttons for a smartwatch face plate. I've got the design down, but I can't get the screen to register the presses. After some digging I learned enough about touch screens to know why. The buttons are going to be cast in a clear orange resin designed to pick up light from the screen below them. Does anyone know of a clear additive or resin material that can sufficiently conduct electricity over a distance of no more that 5mm? If you have any scraps of clear white or clear orange resin. Try using it as a stylus on a smart phone or tablet. If the screen registers the press, let me know please! Also, first time posting here, so bare with me if I have overlooked any sort of etiquette.

Source for sturdy tubes + clear stuffs

I'm going to be dropping a submersible (on a rope for now, no motors yet...) about 600 meters into open ocean. This 'Sub' will need a clear viewing window for a camera, and be sturdy enough to withstand about 700 PSI, according to WikiAnswers (apparently, one vertical meter- 1.09 PSI, right? I'm missing something, aren't I.) So, how thick/ what type of tube will I need, and where can I get it? The project is secret for now, don't ask why I'm doing it.

Clear vinyl film sticking together

We have a problem with 2 layers of plastic/vinyl film sticking together. When we purchase this product it comes in 48" X 150' rolls and has a kraft paper that separates the layers while on the roll but when we use this stuff we have 2 layers about 3/8" apart after a time due to heat contraction or sitting something on the 2 layers it meets and will not easily pull apart. Is there any chemical or product of any type we can apply that would remove its ability to stick together. If you have a solution please keep in mind there can not be any residue as this needs to stay crystal clear.

Creating hollow, clear mold. What materials?

I'm trying to create a Metroid from the titular video game series but I'm not sure of which direction I should go. As you can see, the top (i''ll call it the "head") is semi clear but contains a nucleus within it. So far the only method I can think of is with clear resin. Issues though are that I dont know how to leave an empty space for the body to fit within the head and I dont have a pressure pot available. I've never created a mold before and my only experience is clay sculptures. What methods could I use to create this? All I have to work with is my garage and some clay at the moment and although I'm willing to go out and spend some money, I wont be buying something like a $300 pressure pot.

ISO 4in diam clear tube 3-4ft in length for sm pet slide

Hello, I was watching a video where someone was using a mailing tube a hedgehog slide. I wanted to do the same with our heggie as he loves to burrow and will dive off any ledge he can find if we don't watch him. I think the one she used was 3in, but our heggie needs a 4in round and since here is a bit rounder; it needs to be about 3-4ft as well, though we could cut it down. I would like to find an alternative that is clear or semi-clear as it would be nice to be able to see him in the tube as he slides. It also needs to be fairly inexpensive. For anyone interested, our heggies name happens to be Burrow as well. Maybe a fairy whispered it my ear because we choose the name when he was no larger than a large spiky button and it was 6 weeks before we could bring him home. He has wobbly hedgehog syndrome and we really want him to have some fun.  Thanks for any help, Liocorno

In Spain, looking for clear teflon tube for a lightpipe.

I guess this question has two parts. I'm prototyping a solar energy device, part of which is a light pipe to transport the collected solar energy, about 300 - 2500 nM. I'm planning on making this from a flexible tube filled with a highly refractive liquid, stoppered at each end with clear plugs. It looks like the materials I should be using are: Tube: Teflon (PTFE, FEP, AF 1600, AF 2400) in that order of desireablitity, lowest to highest. The AF 2400 has a refractive index of 1.29, which is the lowest of any polymer. Apparently. Core: Mineral oil / liquid paraffin. Plugs: Acrylic or normal glass. Thoughts? Also, where would you suggest I try to find these? (I have the mineral oil already) Keeping in mind that I'm in Madrid, Spain. Getting this to work would make a huge difference to solar microgeneration, as transporting the energy is currently a bit of a nightmare. Thanks heaps, Daniel.

What adhesive to use for gluing zip lock bag material to fabric?

I have a project in mind which I want to line with a food safe material. After some consideration It boiled down to just using pieces cut from a zip lock bag and cotton material. I'm going to hem the 2 materials together but don't want the zip lock material slouching and separating from the cotton material in the middle. If I used a spray adhesive for fabric to adhere the zip lock material flat to the cotton will the adhesive show through the zip lock liner? I want it to look clear so cotton material shows through the plastic like laminated cotton but don't want to use that material. Any ideas or product suggestions? Thanks.
