Hi guys. as some of you may know, there is this amazing online FPS called Combat Arms, and since i know that a lot of people like this game, i created this forum in which we can all share our experiances and other cool things that happened to them while playing the game.If you are interested in Knex, you may also submit cool ideas for guns or other things from Combat Arms that you would like others to build.I would like this forum to be as friendly as possible, so please no calling eachother nerds, n00bs, addict, or anything else ok?if you would like, leave your player user name so that others can add you to their Combat Arms accouts and make buddies with each other. Also, to make this more interesting, you can also put screen shots here for others to view.I have provided a link to the combat arms website for those of you who would like to know a little more about the game and those who would like to download it.http://combatarms.nexon.net/Intro.aspxRemeber! I looked around a bit in the forums and didn't see anything on this topic, but I may not have looked far enough... I keep tabs on Instructables.com by watching my RSS feed, and I'm frequently annoyed by seeing blatant SPAM coming up in the feed. Usually SPAM instructables have a photo/video with hyperlinks to an external site, and they're the very first published instructable under an account that was created only hours (or minutes) earlier. Is there a way that new accounts would be put on probation, requiring that their first instructable pass the sniff-test before being published in the RSS feed or elsewhere? Perhaps long-established or trusted members with good karma / reputation (yes, borrowing concepts from other sites here) would have the privilege of giving a thumbs-up to non-spam instructables? Now, I'm not suggesting that this be a complex moderation system or that the instructable even be halfway decent -- just that it's not blatant spam. If a first-time publisher posts spam, they get a thumbs-down with a boilerplate explanation of why their post isn't in the RSS feed. They continue to be on probation until they post their first non-spam Instructable. Now, of course I realize that logged-in members to Instructables have the ability to hit the "SPAM" flag on an instructable, but in my opinion the damage has already been done. At the very least, these users can be directed to the Marketplace forums. I look forward to your constructive criticism. :)

I am going to be soon thinking about designing a combat robot for fun. Probably won't be any real competing (unless it's among friends). I am however at a loss for what kind of motors/ where to get them to use for the driving mechanism so the bot can move. Any ides anybody? *Finding old cordless drills and removing the motors did come to mind

I am making a combat robot and would like to purchase a drive system which can power two 6cm diameter wheels with a resonable amount of toque. I have a 9.6v motor of which i would like to power it with. Thanks Oscar

Hi everyone I am currently in the process of designing a combat robot with a max weight limit of 250lbs. the current drivetrain motors that I am using need 200 amps minimum to move the robot if fully loaded to 250lbs. The max stall amperage the motor will draw (when the stall torque is reached) is 856 amps I can not currently find an electronic speed controller that can safely handle that many amps or is in my price range. So my thought was to buy a 300-400 amp ESC and then set up an amperage regulator so that if the motor stalls and asks the ESC for more then 300-400 amps (whichever I decide to buy) when it asks the battery for that many amps the regulator will either block the current or only allow a safe amount of amps to the speed controller. I'm very new to detailed electrical side of this stuff so I don't know what exactly I'm looking for or where to find it. I would use a fuse but if the fuse blows in the middle of a match then I cant move which will cause me to lose by KO so what ever I do it must limit how many amps the speed controller can draw from the battery and then after it no longer asks for that many amps it allows it to function as normal. Thanks Guys!!

I have some designs I'm mainly looking for recommendations and references for the materials needed. Also need some advice on kinetic energy replacement for high drops and jumps. Frame material needs to be light weight and strong. Outer armor will be interchangeable. Weapons are still in development more posted later. Also all metals must be nonferrous.

Hello everyone, So, out of the blue I decided to take a walk down memory lane and watch some old K'nex gun videos on YouTube. After some time, I came across a video from several years ago. I'll link the original below, but basically it was a video by KILLERK about wanting to build a more war-worthy shotgun. There were a couple of these videos where he basically talked about what he wanted to have on this gun. At the time, I didn't see a video or any post on a finish product, so I decided to build it myself based upon his wants. Note this gun is unfinished as I just wanted to show it off. However, it will be completely finished, and if there is a demand I will make instructions for it. The following are the guns features, along with its characteristics: -Pin guide -Charging bolt -Straight-pullback rolling trigger -Comfy stock -Comfy handle -Trigger guard -Finger separator -Sturdy construction -No broken parts (None are required) -Good ergonomics -Looks nice/clean -Shotgun turret, with KILLERK's shells -Because of the design, trigger strength, and shell design, the gun is very powerful -Good spread of bullets, thanks to the shell Now for something a little more personal. Personally,I think it is the best gun I have ever made. I wanted to make one last gun that revived old concepts as sort of a thank you to the community that I've been on since 2011. This community has been a considerable part of my life, as I used to spend a lot of timing playing with these plastic toys. With leaving for college in a month, I don't see myself really building anymore, not to mention posting anything new. The post I make for this gun will be my last K'nex related post. However, like most, I'll still lurk around. KILLERK's video Thank you to all. -Didexo

I am building a combat robot and need a 24v , 100A Motor Controller to power the motors. I will be using a 2.4ghz Turnigy 9x Transmitter and Receiver. I have seen the Victor 885 (link) motor controller that perfectly fits my need, but is too expensive for me. Could someone please help me in building a motor controller similar to the Victor 885?

OK, so i downloaded Combat Arms to see what it was like, i downloaded it, installed it, made a user. then when i started it, it worked fine, i logged in, joined a server and a room, then it said the game was starting so i waited, it counted down 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 then the game froze for around 5 seconds, I thought the game was starting so I waited. Then a message popped up: Failed to join battle. Connection timed out? I have tried re-installing the game twice, allowed CA through my firewall and anti virus (AVG 2011) and yet it still wouldn't let me join a game. I then disabled my firewall and AVG to see if it still happened, STILL DIDN'T WORK! by this point I was getting annoyed :S I exited CA and re-enabled both my firewall and AV software. any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance. P.S. We recently got a new router so it's not our internet, i am also running windows 7 64bit, running CA in admin and compatibility for xp sp2 thanks in advance :D

Apart from my Calico M-950 and my Magpul Masada ACR, the RMACR is my favorite build of all time. I sorta consider it my TR8 of magazine guns. As this is the case, I bring you the RMACR V.2. While it is not a huge change from the first version, it is still a great gun. Moreover, it may be generic to some people, but if a generic gun does its job, and does it well, what does it matter if it is generic. With ranges exceeding 50 ft., a 16 rd. magazine, a new (sturdy) stock, nice sights, this gun would excel in an indoor K'NEX war. Features: Looks great (IMO) Sturdy (except the pistol grip) New stock Really nice pin-pull-length 16 rd. magazine Relatively good rate-of-fire Really accurate Fun to shoot This gun can fire the ammo you see in pic #14 (which is THE best ammo, IMO), or it can fire white rods. It is very customizable, as you could change almost anything (except the mech) and it would still work great. Sadly, it does use broken pieces, and it's magazine is not "preloadable," but the gun is nice overall. I am posting this as a forum topic because I want to gauge interest in me posting a full set of instructions. -The Red Book of Westmarch

It's a small robot and it needs to shoot marbles, its a combat robot, so it needs to shoot with high velocity and the shooting mechanism needs to be automatic. It should keep shooting marbles until the motor, or something else, stops any ideas on how to make this mechanism.Just like the one in the link below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8sBvgOQHX4

Sup all! I'm really interested in becoming a modern ninja, so I googled it a bit. In order to be an urban ninja, I will have to learn parkour and the highlighted of the traditional 18 ninja skills, others will be useless.(Horsemanship? It's Urban Ninjutu, in a city...) Check wikipedia here for more info. unarmed combat sword techniques stick and staff techniques throwing weapons techniques pyrotechnics and explosives disguise and impersonation stealth and entering methods water training tactics espionage escaping and concealment meteorology geography I need to find a good book/DVD series that will teach me traditional Ninjutsu, thus will teach me all of the listed skills. I want to focus mainly on unarmed combat, followed by stick, staff and sword techniques and weapon throwing. The rest is stealth, to sneak into places without being detected. That should make me a basic ninja. Finally, after I'll know these, I will study the less important skills - the italic skills. What I ask for help is, to give me a good DVD or a book that will teach me either parkour or Taijutsu(unarmed combat). These are the things I want the most, explained before. I prefer the course to be free, like an online study course.

RoboGames is sort of like the olympics for roboticists, featuring events such as Autonomous Fire Fighting, Kung Fu, Bartending, and a crowd favorite: Combat Robots. This will be an epic event, I'll be out there for sure! See you there! Here's a video of the Combat Robots from Maker Faire this year: Also, keep in mind that Instructables is holding its Instructables and RoboGames Robot Contest where you can win a chance to go to RoboGames 2009, among other prizes like a RoboPhilo android kit!

So i was bored one day and i made a knex underbarrel chainsaw attachment, it works tho, but the chain doesnt have little hooks so its safe to use in and out of knex combat it was really really bulky and rather heavy, it uses a modified knex motor and a micro chain you should be able to build it from the pictures oh by the way the gear closest to the handle is a bit to the side so the chain is a bit crooked

14-year-old Anshul Samar has created his own science-based fantasy card combat game Elementeo. Check out the interview with him below.Elementeo is a strategic battle game where you use your elements across the battlefield in reducing opponent's electrons to zero. You do that by harnessing the strength and moving properties of the elements and compounds, and by using their reactionary powers. For example, Oxygen can rust any neighboring metal or Copper Conductor can shock any metals and send them back to the deck. via Wired's Geekdad

Would any of the resident geniuses here at Instructables have any ideas for keeping graffiti off of my cedar fence? I live in a fairly rough neighborhood in a major urban center, and we exclusively have the bad type of graffiti-- crappy tags from juvenile delinquents delineating their turf. Any ideas on how to combat this problem with a DIY, cost-effective solution? I'm thinking it might just be something that most spraypaint won't stick to, or a surface that will destroy paint pens. Heat-sensing, motion-sensing automatic machine guns are not an option due to the rampant stray population ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TqIHlnfGKV0

It is the best gun i have ever made! look at the vid to see more. made for max range and accuricy.(i had the idea for it long before the sr-v1 was made.) still in developement. i thought that it was ready to be posted in a forum. there is just a shadow in the vid because the gun may go under lots of moding and may never look like what is in the vid when i post it. this gun can also be changed to a shotgun in about 15 sec. the shot gun is a little less powerfull then the sniper verson but is for short range combat the the sniper can not do.

If so, let's whine about it together. :D I'm ready for the semester to be over. I think I have a little too much on my plate this year. I have to go to a big conference next Friday, and I have so many papers and presentations coming up that I want to scream. The only class I really care about is A & P - and that's making me suffer in my other classes because I'm not studying for them as much. But of course, I'll be procrastinating instead of doing something right now to combat my anxiety. Sort of like this five page statistics midterm that I'm working on right now... which I've had a week to do. It's due at 4:30. :P

It seems every year we get ants in our kitchen. I don't know if its a seasonal thing or just coincidence. This time, however, we were able to effectively combat them with a home remedy. We mixed boric acid & sugar in water and set the concoction in a few little lids across the kitchen. We used roughly a 1:1:1 ratio, but it isn't an exact science. It's also not important if it doesn't dissolve completely. The idea behind this is that the boric acid will not kill the ants instentaneously. In fact, the sugar will lure ants to it. Also, this amount of boric acid isn't harmful, even to most pets. I don't have any pictures to do an instructable, so I thought I'd share it here. If someone else does this, feel free to do an instructable. (no credit needed)

I have been cast as Merlin in a medieval fair living chess board act. We have a few reliable magic tricks we've used in the past, but I'm trying to find/think up new ideas. This is a live show and I will most likely be standing on an elevated stage for most of it. I don't mind cheesy tricks (I might even do the string of handkerchiefs up the sleeve gag). Illusions that can be used in "combat" are very welcome. So, if you have ideas, or know of any websites that will help, I'd really appreciate. I've looked through Instructables, but haven't found much, so if you know any good ones, assume I missed them.
