Search for commenters in Topics

Does anyone see my comments?

Am I missing something? Does anybody know how to order comments oldest first. This most recent comment first thing is making me nauseous.

On a instructable i recently published https://www.instructables.com/id/hidden-outlet-camera/ amberrayh commented on it and now the comment  is not there

I've avoided making any bad comments, but even tho I'm signed in, I can't make comments any more.

Ok so I noticed that my comment tracker disagrees with my instructables card thingy. Help?

The comment system on the itouch does not work can someone fix the font back to wiki

This is sorta a bug, more likely bad programming When a comment is deleated, it doesn't neccesarly delete the comment If someone posted person information and deleated it, you can just go back through the comment tracker and read it what needs to be fized is that the comment tracker to deleate it too

I can't seem to comment on instructables!  I'm using an iPod touch 4th gen, safari, and every time I press add comment, it reloads the page, and the new comment box will not open up.  Is this just because I'm on an iPod?  It worked just fine a few days ago...

     Howdy there!      NK here, with a new problem with the comments. Up until recently all was going well with commenting, until all of a sudden, a bug popped up where one click did not post a comment. You have to double click now to post. This can be frustrating because the user may not notice the comment hasn't posted, and leave the page, and the comment disappears. On the other hand, someone may click to many times to post a comment, and cause multiple copies of the same comment to be posted. This can be quite bothersome...      This issue occurs on Google Chrome, Puffin, and Internet Explorer. Commenting is impossible on iOS 7 Safari, which can also be bothersome...      Thanks for taking the time to read this report. When a person reads reviewer comments serially, over a period of time, the order 'newest-to-oldest' works well. But if a person reads a bunch of comments (often spanning a number of days) at once, it is much easier if the comments can be viewed 'oldest-to-newest'. Any chance of adding that option to the instructables page?

When I try to leave comments on Instructables, they won't post. The button seems inactive, and the bottom of the browser screen says 'Error on Page' when I click. I've tried on Chrome, Firefox, and IE. Anybody else having this issue today?

Just a few hours ago I had a very nice comment on my latest Ible. I replied. My reply was posted. Now, both the comment and my reply have vanished.   Between numerous comments not being posted and then, when they ARE actually posted only to disappear.... This is beginning to be so not fun.

Double comments? I have been noticing this a few times within the last few weeks. Such as today. I got a comment from DJ Radio someone and then about 40 minutes later, I got the exact same comment. I'm pretty sure people are not doing this as a joke. When I'm talking about this, I'm talking about the comment tracker, it doesnt appear twice on the actual ible it is on. Has anyone else seen this happening?

I haver noticed that there are not as many people commenting on new Instructables anymore. Maybe we should comment more to make the people feel more welcome. What do you think?

Last time I added pictures to an 'ible I'm still writing, I put comments on the pictures, but the yellow boxes don't stay in the same place if I comment more than one picture - every time I look back at what I've done, the boxes have moved! Saving the instructable is unpredictable in terms of where the comment boxes will end up.

Recently, when replying to multiple comments on the same page, it started copying my first comment into my second, for example: First comment "Yes, I recently became Pro" Second Comment Should say: "Hi, how are you doing today?" Instead says: "Yes, I recently became Pro" ______________________ That was the best way I could explain it, although it doesn't happen with the sampled comments, it happens with all the comments on a page. It says what I intended when I type it up, but changes only after posted. It doesn't behave this way if I refresh the page after my first comment. I don't think it's related to my Specs, but here they are... FireFox 3.6.3, Windows 7

Is it just me, or has the robot separated the comments and answers on our user profiles? My number of comments rose, my number of answers dropped and my best answer % just jumped from 4 to 7. (yay!) My mum always said that I talked too much.

Your Comments Section really sucks. Actually, it's pretty much non-existent as far as I can tell? There is no way to follow up on comments you've made, (or even find them), there's no subscription, there's not even any kind of sort function. (Newest, Most Popular, Oldest). C'mon.. look at any random internet page, and they will have a more functional Comment engine. It shouldn't take much to improve this.

Hey can everyone please stop with the first comment crap!as some people just go onto the instructables just to get (first comment) and they dont even care about the instructable and if thats true then they can just sod off!

I am new but I have posted many comments.  When people reply I get a notice under my user name page.  I like this feature but I have like 12 replied comments now and I want to get rid of the old notices I have read.  How?

When I try and make comments, or reply to comments, the comments box doesn't appear. Instead, I get a faint grey 503 message, and the processing icon overlaying it and not stopping for several minutes (at which point I get bored and hit the back button). Hey, quick question. I've noticed today a problem with my comment notifications. Usually your profile page lets you see comments people have made replying to you or on your forum topic. But just today I've noticed once that it showed their being a new comment on one of my forum topics but I couldn't find the comment. Twice someone replied to me (hitting the reply button) but it didn't show up in my discussions tab. Does anybody know why it's malfunctioning, and/or how it can be fixed?

When I check my homepage, I notice that by putting my mouse over the "Youv" I get a small menu of options. One of the options is "Comments." When I have new comments, it will say "Comments (x)." I really like this feature, I find it useful, but I am having a problem where it will say "Comments (2)," but I have only one new message. This is not a very urgent bug, nor am I sure it is even a bug, but it would be much appreciated if it could be fixed or amended in the near future. Thanks.

Is it me, or are comments, and the author tab and the related tab not showing up? Also, instead of white, only the top is white. The background is no longer white for the whole instructable. It is really bugging me

Hey guys i have found a bug with this website. I have found out that i cant click(site wont let me)on pictures in comments to make them bigger. This is a huge bother to me since i build the things in those picture comments most of the time. Um i hope this helps the admins fix what ever it is going on here.

I'm not entirely sure if this is the right place to post this, or even if it's a real bug, but my problem is that I can't reply to comments.   Following the bug reporting guidelines: 1. I'm using Windows 10 Home ("Version "1511") 2. I've tried using Google Chrome, version 51.0.2704.103 m, Firefox, version 43.0.1, and Internet Explorer, version 11.420.10586.0. 3. This problem occurs across all of my projects.  I got one comment to go through a couple weeks ago, so I wondered if maybe I've just been waiting too long to try to respond?  (I specifically just tried replying to this comment to check the problem: https://www.instructables.com/id/Warm-Rice-Bag/?comments=all#CGQZOVTI84H1BPN) 4. Screen shots are boring, since it just shows a comment box like I need to hit 'reply'.  When I press reply nothing happens though. 5. Several family members are now Instructable members so occasionally we like to check and see what each other has said about an Instructable. On every occasions when we go to the Instructable comment section we can not find each other's comments. To double check we swapped member names and passwords but as feared we could only see the comments for the member names we were logged under. Ironically we can see all (?) comments by other members. I logged this as a bug and sent several emails to info@instructables.com but nothing, no response and no reply. Has anyone else experienced this trouble or have any idea of the cause?

I have the same problem as the previous user who wrote Recently whenever I comment on a question the page "scrolls" down like I have commented, but no text shows up. Sometimes this happens with my version of Chrome (15.0.874.121 on Mac osX lion), but a page refresh usually shows the comment. I checked again once and about 4 hours later, but nothing shows up... Any help? :) I am having this problem on a bunch of different machines. I am sad as I want to post to the contests but cannot. I cannot answer comments on my 'ibles. Another thing is that the front page seems to not refresh either. i.e. I recieved congratulations your on the home page messages, but I don't think that I am. I would have posted on the other users thread, but can't comment

Hello, I'm sorry if this has already been covered but I've gone back two pages and have not seen it mentioned in the bugs section. It's not a big thing but I've noticed recently that when I comment on an Instructable, that I cannot preview my drivel first before I post the comment. It's not really a problem but I thought that you might like to know. I am using Safari. Thanks FOH PS I could preview this though.

Alright so evidently the buttons to view next / previous pictures have been enlarged, not that big a change but it does screw up some of my work; with some of my ibles I use a small comment box to indicate what number picture is being viewed. Now these comments fall beneath the previouse / next buttons so you cannot hover(mouseover) to view the text....... if you cant refer to a picture number it gets confusing rather quicky when confronted with large amounts of text. if any solution can be given other than redoing all the comments please help!!

I just noticed I made my 500th comment today! I'm sure no-one cares, and I'm probably spamming, but I didn't know a more appropriate place to post my victory. So there. HAH!

My apologies if I'm in the wrong place for this. I took out a pro membership (I was a pro member 2 years ago) as I wanted to be more involved in Instructables as I'm now 66 I have more time to build stuff, but after commenting on Scraptopower's excellent instructable "Build a coke can sterling engine" I can't find the comment I made several days ago. Its frustrating when you take the time to leave feedback about a particular aspect of someones work and then can't find the damn thing because its not where it should be. Perhaps some one could point me in the direction of my comment or explain what might have happened to it. Thanks a lot.

Ok so whenver i comment on someones instructables or topic it doesnt alert them or sometimes even show up. i dont want to reset my account or have to use a new one. please fix this. it is making me very mad. i domt want to be rude but after every update tnings keep getting worse with this site. there are more problems. thank you, please fix this very soon or im gonna have to move to a different site

Even when I stay away from Instructables alltogether, some people find it compulsive to insult my wife in my Instructables. I'm seriously considering removing all of my instuctables.

As you know, we're always updating the site to try and improve it for you. Sometimes we go a bit overboard... Recently we changed how you're notified when someone comments on an Instructable you wrote, or a forum you started, or replied to a comment you wrote, etc. People were getting a ton of emails, each with just one comment in it. So we created the ability to bundle these up into just one email, which you can get hourly or daily (or not at all). (Oh, and you can still get individual emails if you prefer - just update your user settings to suit you.) All well and good! But there was a small problem deep in the guts of the notification code, wherein it periodically skipped notifying some people of some comments, some of the time. Since a lot of people were getting notifications normally, it took a while to figure this out. I just fixed it... and there were a LOT of old comments that hadn't been sent yet, that just went out all at once! At least one user got notified of 93 comments. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that that was a backlog, and not normal, and going forward you should only have the one hour's worth, or one day's worth, depending on how you've set up your account.

I've noticed that everyone's comment counters are much lower than they REALLY are.  Let me just post some examples: Me: Real comments: 14,000+ Today: 6,000+ Goodhart: Real comments: 20,000+ Today: 1,500+ Lemonie: Real comments: 9,000+ Today: 4,000+ Kiteman: Real comments: 16,000+ Today: 4,000+ So what's up?  If my theory is wrong, feel free to correct me, I wont be embarrassed much lol.  =P

Lately it has become increasingly more difficult to respond to someone's comment on one of my Instructables. It has also become more difficult to leave a comment on someone else's Instructable. I click on the appropriate button ("Comment," "Reply"), but there is no response. Sometimes I can comment or respond during some very strange hour of the night when Internet traffic is very low. I have checked this on different computers, but the same problem persists.  Today I also noticed the yellow text boxes have disappeared from one of my earlier Instructables. If I go to "Edit" I can see ghost images of the yellow text boxes, but cannot read or edit them. For some time I have not been able to edit or add text boxes in the Edit mode, only when I am viewing steps of the Instructable.  Are transitions underway on the Instructables page that make these temporary problems? Also, the words "Instructable" and "Instructables" always show up as misspelled. It seems strange the site name is identified by the spell checker as a misspelling.

Some days I can't see the comments on the instructables.  Sometines that's the best part!! Today is one of those days. HELP!!

The problems with bug https://www.instructables.com/community/Cant-reply-to-comment-or-post-a-new-comment-on-my/ are still happening. I wasted 1/2 hour disabling all my add-ons firewalls etc trying to figure it out, but it seems to not be at my end. Comment box at bottom of comments, none of the buttons respond. Comment box at top of comments works. So now I know what to do, but I don't comment that requently and no doubt will get caught again next time.

I found a bug with the new comment update. In a chain of comments, if you pick one, then click reply, the box shrinks slightly as it should for a new comment so you can see it's indented. When you click cancel though, it doesn't go back to its original size. Clicking reply and cancel again shrinks it more. Woops! Picture 1: the bug Picture 2: what it looked like before I broke it

Sorry if this is in the wrong area, but the category was not really there (bugs), so I put it here.  When ever I create a comment that is a reply to another comment, that first comment turns into a reply as well. Confused? Let me explain What it should be: (Comment Irrelevant): BLA BLA (Commenter1): OH that was G!              (Commenter2[Me]): YAH, Right? What Happens: (Comment Irrelevant): BLA BLA               (Commenter1): OH that was G!                                  (Commenter2[Me]): YAH, Right? See what I mean? Any reply I make indents the original comment, making it look like another comment is being replied to when it is not, this also happens when there is no (Comment Irrelevant) comment! This also seems to happen on other computers, Macs at work and my home PC. Both of which are totally separate of each other. Is it a problem well known problem with instructables, or is it just a glitch with my profile. I see a comic book super hero in the making: Secret admin controls, given to an random user. He now has the power to make people reply to other people, and he is: Secret Admin Who Randomly Got Powers to Make People Reply Man!

Something that bugs me is if I make a comment directed to a specific answer if someone else comments to the same answer there comment separates my comment and now it looks like my comment is meant for the other comment and makes no sense. I wish they stayed in the order that they were written.

I am at a all time comment shortage so SEND ME COMMENTS ON MY POSTS!

The Grand Comment-Chain, it simple, below I have posted a comment, then you have to reply to my comment, then someone else will reply to the comment you commented on. And it will go on for as long as you want. Please join in, all you have to do is reply to the last comment made then you can get on with your lives!
