Have you noticed that the menu system does not appear to work with Firefox vs. 8? When I search using this method on Firefox, I never get a link to an actual instructable. Also, the adds seem to hover in the way of links. However, In IE vs. 8, the links work, but some of the text and link fields overlap. It just seems like there are some HTML programming issues that need to be addressed to make the site more navigable.

Hi, just wondering why the site keeps placing links where they arent supposed to be? i press page compatability button on IE but it does nothing...Is it a bug that is known to the admins at the moment? things are ALWAYS out of place, and when clicking links the wrong option gets selected. Its getting really annoying honestly. Net specs: IE9 WIN7 64 BIT

Some of the usb micro cables i have for my solar cell battery don't work, but when i plug in the usb female adapter and use the usb cable i use for my computer, my droid x charges just fine. being the way i am, i had to know what was going on, so i got an old bluetooth headset and desoldered the female usb micro plug and put some leads on it. then i plugged the cables in and tested continuity and i found out that the cable that works had pin 4 connected to pin 5, but the one that didn't work had no internal connections at all. i find the position the cable sticks out when it's plugged in kind of annoying, so i might be able to kill 2 birds with one stone by making a small extender with pins 4 and 5 connected and just leaving the extender connected all the time or would my dx detect that pin 4 and 5 are connected without a voltage and cause problems? i would really like to just make this, plug it in, and not have to worry about cables not working or getting in the way, but i don't want to test this on my $600 device when i don't know what might go wrong.

DIMM 400 is obsolete, so it not easily available in strips of 1G or higher. But 512 MB of DIMM 400 is almost the same price as a more modern memory strip of 2G! Since the pin-out is the same, I was wandering if the more recent kind, like DIMM 800 would still work, but perhaps at a slower rate. If I would try, would it just not work, or would it fry (or fry the motherboard)?

OK, noob question, but google holds no clear answers (I just get lots of "convert iTunes to MP3" hits). I'm thinking of buying a music player with a much larger memory than the current 2G. There are iPod-dedicated birdwatching products that tempt me towards Apple products, but I have hundreds of MP3 tracks. If I get an iWhatever, will it play ordinary MP3 tracks "as is", will I have to convert them to iTunes, or will I have to start from scratch?

Hey everyone. I'm very new to microcontrollers. I've never dealt with them but I do know how to program. I'm interested in creating a wall-avoiding RC truck on a tight budget. I'm mostly going to be following this instructable https://www.instructables.com/id/RC-Car-to-Robot/ as well as this one https://www.instructables.com/id/Simple-RC-car-for-beginners-Android-control-over-/?ALLSTEPS I'm thinking about getting this arduino-compatible board. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tosduino-MEGA2560-R3-Board-Arduino-compatible-/330947766756?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash;=item4d0e0629e4 This is a motor module I'm looking at. http://www.ebay.com/itm/L298N-DC-Stepper-Motor-Driver-Controller-Module-Robot-Dual-H-Bridge-For-Arduino-/370966436323?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash;=item565f5299e3 I'm wondering if anyone has experience with arduino-compatible boards or maybe even tosduino specifically. Are they fairly reliable? Is this motor module something that could work? Why is it only $4 while the motor shield for arduino is $20 - $30. I really have no idea as I would just be following tutorials to get my feet wet in the arduino world. Thanks, BlueShorts

Hi,I love my technology and have attempted to build many small electronics projects with varying levels of success and completedness.I have an idea that I would love to put into action but having a lack of knowledge in ZigBee I wanted to put it to the community to see who else has a need and if anyone else has had any success with the aforementioned Hue system and a DIY ZigBee project of any kind.My idea comes from a need to make things simple for the family and guests in my home to use the Philips Hue system I have without having to re-wire the house. I would like to have a single push button that uses the ZigBee network with Hue that can do multiple things based on lengths of push and number of pushes etc. Much like the remotes can already. However I want to make it so you can put any kind of momentary push button on it.In New Zealand I use a very common style of switch plate made by a company called PDL. The plates have a variety of options and one of them being a modular system that has a push button available. There is even one that has a small LED on it.Having the ability to add a second module to my light switches that allows you to push the button for simple on/off functionality. Long press for dimming and multiple press for scenes or set brightnesses. Now i've coded for Arduino and used this on ESP modules but never done anything in the ZigBee space.Has anyone done something like this before?I'm not asking for anything to help me do this but rather pointers. I will continue to research this project and hopefully one day make something worthy of an instructable for all you kind folk out there! Happy building!

Hi everyone, I was selected for the IoT invitational of Intel + Instructables and I as I was going to start testing the sensors I received, I noticed that there was no base shield for the sensor connections included in the package. I suppose the rest of the chosen participants didn't receive the base shield as well. Since the local stores near me do not have that shield (http://www.seeedstudio.com/wiki/Grove_-_Base_shield_v2) I wonder if other Arduino compatible sensor shields can be used on the Intel Edison expansion board, since it operates at 1.8V and I don't want to fry it. Thanks in advance!

Hey again- while working on itunes and ripping our DVD library to ipods (using handbrake), i had the entire library created with the screen size for a 5g ipod nano. I recently got an Ipod touch 4g with retina display- so I have been re-ripping the library for the larger screen. Now i have copies of High and low quality videos (because some in our family still use nanos), so is there a setting for videos that looks good on retina displays, but can be played on a nano too? so that i could only use one copy at a time (having 2 copies is increasing my library size a lot more than i would like) I am on a mac- use handbrake for DVD ripping but would be fine using other freeware :) -Astroboy907

The plug for my HP laptop's AC/DC adapter has a loose connection, so I am using my old Compaq adapter. All the specs are the same; 65w, 18.5v, and 3.5a, except for the input amps, 1.7 on one and 1.6 on the other (probably just because of efficiency). The plugs are the same. I just wanted to double check. Is it okay to use the Compaq(actually says HP on it) instead of the HP one? Thanks in advance! AI

For those who may it concern, thanks if you can help. So, I have recently found another CMO chip, one strangely on an old modem + audio card, and I want to use it use it on an motherboard I'm going to flash (fear of failure, so I'm going to hot swap with another one it if I can). I'm not an professional in chips, so I'd like to see if anyone can help me out here. Here is the two CMO chips (both are 32 pin PDIP):On the card: AM29F010-90PChttp://www.datasheetcatalog.org/datasheet/AdvancedMicroDevices/mXxzrq.pdfAnd on motherboard: SST29EE020http://www.ourchip.com/NZILIAO/chips/memory/29EE020.pdfThe motherboard using: GA-6BXChttp://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Spec.aspx?ProductID=1445The only slight difference I've had notice is that the card one had 1MB of memory and pin 30 is not used, while the other is 2MB of memory and does use pin 30. The BIOS awards, updated to the current beta version, and as well I think 1MB is enough room for the flashing (I hope).

So, I want to build a computer, and this would be my first computer. I don't know how to tell how parts are compatible with other parts, and which parts are good. I just want a computer that can surf the web, and support gaming with little to no lag, or freezing. This is more of a programming question, but can Seeed Studio "shields" or modules be programmed with the BS2? Most Seeed components say they are compatible with Arduino, but I cannot determine whether or not the BS2 can control it as well. Also, if the BS2 is in the Stampduino, would I be able to program the Seeed module using PBasic? Thanks, these are a lot of questions and I would greatly appreciate any answers/comments.

You can play this game with 2 players and the purpose of the whole game is to reach the finish earlier than your apponent. To this game i want to add educational quistions with yes or no as a answer. When a guestion is answered right the levers should open. If you answer a question wrong the levers should stay closed. I also want to make sure that if the player reaches the finish some LED lights blink. Is there a quiz program that i can use or could you help me make my own quiz program ? could you help me. OK, I have a Dell XPS M1710 that has an overheating issue. I have done the oven re-flow around six times and it works, but it will eventually keep dying. I'm afraid that the card has finally come to its end but I'm willing to give it one last attempt. I'm going to attempt to convert the laptop into somewhat of a desktop. I'm going to get a large heatsink for the CPU and hopefully find one that will fit the graphics card. I'm hoping that with better cooling the graphics card will stop going out on me. I have found a heatsink that i believe will work for the CPU but I'm not exactly sure I can find one for the graphics card. I'm not even sure if it's possible. If it is, that would be awesome if anyone could find one. If there isn't, however, does anyone know another option? Maybe, 3D print an adapter and connect it to a heatsink and then throw a fan on it? Any suggestions? The problem I have is that the screw holes on the graphics card are in a rectangle rather than a square. I'll try to provide pictures to show what I mean. If you need anymore I can get those to you.
