Removing entry to incorrect competition

I tried to delete an instructable, but it was entered into 2 competitions.  These competitions aren't even the correct category for my instructable and I don't recall ever entering into that competition!.  Any advice appreciated.

Games4Girls Competition

This is an awesome competition for any girls interested in computer games. The computer science department at the University of Illinois has a annual contest called Games4Girls (G4G). Teams of up to 5 college women collaborate to build a computer games designed for girls in middle school and high school.  Cash prizes are offered along with donations to your schools department. The best part  is you don't need to have any programming experience.  Teams are required to use the Game Maker development platform to put their games together.  Game Maker has an easy to learn drag and drop interface that has a built in programming language for customization. I actually formed a team at my school, Union College.  We had registered and everything, but we started collaborating on the project in January near the registration deadline and we found we didn't have enough time to build a full game by the deadline (April 5th).  If this sounds like a fun event, contact a professor at your school this summer or the beginning of the academic year and form a team ASAP.  Registration Deadline for Competition - 1/22/2010 Game Submission - 4/5/2010 website: http://cs.illinois.edu/outreach/games4girls

We are hosting our first makerspace only competition! This is a great way to build up a collection of projects that can be submitted in a build night application. The competition is open to all project themes, but we are looking for feature worthy projects. Rules: The entry must be a featured step-by-step Instructable. See below for more information on what it means to be featured. You can submit an entry before it has been featured, but it must get featured by the time judging starts to be considered (I would recommend doing this!). All entries must be published between 11/11/2014 - 1/19/2015 Only makerspaces are allowed to enter - not individuals. Although, individuals can submit projects on behalf of a makerspace. A makerspace may submit as many Instructables as they like to the competition! If an Instructable has been submitted for a build night it cannot enter the competition. NAR Competition

The "Not A Rectangle", otherwise known as "Untangle" or simply "NAR" is easily the best single shot in terms of range due to the power transfer at the front. Because this is the only needed feature of the gun, it also makes the NAR very customisable and therefore you can change your NAR to the extreme. With enough work, you could make the gun look however you like. It's because of this that I had the idea of making this competition. Your task is to create the best looking and most ergonomic NAR. Absolutely anyone can enter, there's no limit on entries, however all entries must comply to these rules: 1) It must use the NAR mechanism, and you must prove it in picture form. 2) It must be your own design. Any NAR's with Zak's handle on them will be disqualified, unless posted by Zak himself of course. For this competition I will need 2 judges to help me decide, so if you don't want to compete please consider this post instead. Judges: The Jamalam knex gun builder freak Lowney The prize for the winner will be a surprise and will be decided privately between the judges and I. We will be accepting entries up to and including, but no later than 15th September. The winner will be announced on the 20th. You have 20 days, starting from 25th Aug. Oh wait, that's now. Well, get building! Here is a link to the instructions for the NAR, thanks to silentassassin21 for posting them: http://knexinnovation.net/showthread.php?852-The-untangle

Thank you

Are real prizes given away in Instructables competitions?

Hi there, I was wondering, this sounds like a daft question but are the competitions on Instructables real? Has anyone on these forums ever received a physical prize from Instructables, and if you won, how long did your prize take to arrive at your house? Just curious. I have done contests in the past on other 'how to' websites and never won anything. The contests seem so popular on Instructables that I want to know if it's worth my while to enter. Thanks! :-)

Clothing, One of The Oldest Technologies

I was reading an article here http://blogs.howstuffworks.com/2011/03/23/funny-and-fascinating-the-importance-of-the-washing-machine/ and it points out that clothing is one of the oldest technologies that is still in use today. Marshall asks a great question, "What will replace clothing made of textiles?" Instructables has done a lot of work on modernizing clothing and I was thinking what treatment would the community here give that question? I think it would be a great competition!

FIRST Robotics Competition

Has anyone heard of the FIRST Robotics Competition? It was started by Dean Kamen. Instead of me repeating what their philosophy is, check out their website: FIRSTI'm on the first team from Nebraska, and this was our rookie year. We just finished up our regional competition in Kansas City, MO, and it was a blast. It is one of the only programs that I have found that encourages involvement in science and technology. The build process is almost similar to an engineering internship. If you happen to be in high school (or not yet there) or you are a professional engineer, electrician, programmer, or hobbyist (basically anyone who uses Instructables!), I strongly encourage you to get involved. Find a team in your area and contact them. There are over 2000 teams in the country, so there may be one near you.If you are already involved, let me know! I am interested in hearing what people have to say.

Rubik's Cube Competition

Lego FIRST competition

Well, today I went along with Caitlin's school robotics club to see them participate in qualifying rounds in order to advance to the New York City city-wide champs. Woot, they made it enough in the rankings to advance and fun was had by all. It was my first time at one of these things and it was pretty well organized considering the number of teams shuttling back and forth between rooms to do the robotics challenges/missions and presentations to judges. Kids use Lego Mindstorm NXT robot kits and build/program them to accomplish a list of tasks to be performed in the "pit". Of course, everything can go wrong from your batteries not being charged, pieces falling apart, programs not working, forgetting the laptop charger, and worrying about the school bus making it home before the snow storm. Fourth graders did research projects and presentations on how robotics impacted environmental issues. Fourth and fifth grader teams did the robot challenges and presented their robots to the judges. The FIRST program is really to have fun while using technology, learn something, and to develop teamwork and good sportsmanship. One of our teachers even wrote up a school cheer and song just for Robotics. The second pic is of another school who happened to have a live team mascot(where else can you wear a propeller beanie and be proud?). The amount of geek-strogen present was incredible. This happened to be Tetranitrate's stomping grounds but I didn't find any evidence of charred walls. I might just have to make Robohoodies for all the kids when they compete again in March. Anyone else out there doing Lego FIRST robotic league?

[6.6 feet per second] carrying as much payload as possible. A high performance prize will be awarded to teams that can move at 5 m/s. [16.5 fps]"Remember, this must be solar powered. Robot fliers in commando competition

People and micro-aircraft race to rescue 'hostages'Robots inspired by moths, locusts, flies and swifts will take to the sky this week in an international competition for micro aerial vehicles in Agra, India. Teams will vie for the title -- as well as up to US$600,000 in funding -- for their tiny flying machines. The mission calls for squads of aerial and ground robots to reconnoitre for human 'commandos' tasked with reaching 'hostages' in a building one kilometre from the launch point. The robots will need to detect and disarm simulated chemical mines in an urban environment, and guide the commandos past guard teams to the hostages -- all within 40 minutes. The robots will use a mixture of wireless communication with a ground-control team, and autonomous navigation."It's a tough competition," says entrant Hemendra Arya, an engineer at the India Institute of Technology in Mumbai. "It really gives a challenge for the designer."Micro aerial vehicles (MAVs) are hard to detect, maneuverable, portable, and more energy-efficient than larger aircraft. The United States is currently using first-generation MAVs the size of a rucksack to warn convoys about roadside bombs in Iraq.Larger unmanned aerial vehicles such as the Predator have been used for years to spot and attack enemies, but they need an airfield. The effort to build smaller craft got a boost when the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) began sponsoring competitions in late 1996. The US Department of Defense is co-sponsoring the Indian competition. more here

An invisible hallowe'en costume (Cost $10-30, much less if you have access to theatrical make-up, I have already sourced all specialist parts - I just lack an appropriate place to wear it)3. A pumpkin substitute for decorations - low cost, more novelty value than anything.I reserve the right to refuse to send ideas to members who do not seem to be set on actually making the 'ibles.
