View count not consistant

Hey guys, i have noticed a problem with view counts when you are logged into instructables and logged off. When i am logged on, my instructable * https://www.instructables.com/id/My-400-Ikea-Ramvik-Arcade-Table/ * has over 3,150 views and 14 favorites. When i am logged off, or someone else views the instructable and isnt logged in, the view count drops to 947 and only has 9 favorites. After refreshing a couple times the view count goes up to 2,144. And then if i log back in again, the view count is back to over 3,150. Whats going on here?

Consistent output with arduino

Hi guys! I have a little project that i could use some help with. I am quite new to the arduino, and not that steady in the code, but im hoping on getting there! The project im building is a litte controller that drives a relay output. The controller is connected to a photo-cell that has a two pin output. This output is shorted at various times depending on the movement in front of the photocell. What i need is for the arduino to close the relay for the same period (say 0,5s) each time the photocell circut is closed. And maybe block a repeating signal from the photocell within 0,5s Is this possible in some way? Any help much appreciated!

What thickener gives a gel-consistency, and not jelly-consistency?

Hey people! I have a liquid I would like to thicken to the consistency where it can be spread on bread. I just don't want to blend in too many calories, so I just want to use some thickener. But what thickener gives a gel-like consistency, and not a jelly-like? The difference (in my head) is that if you poke the surface of a gel, your finger sinks into it, and if you do the same with a jelly, the surface bends. So jelly is the wobbly stuff like jell-o, while gel is more like hairgel. Problem is just that I don't know which thickener to use... I have these in consideration: Cornstarch, tried, worked kind of, but not when cooled down in the fridge. Went from almost tolerably jelly, to very jelly Tapioca, should be like cornstarch, but more fridge-tolerant. Any thoughts? Flour, not very powerful, and gives a bad taste in those quantities Agar agar, less wobbly than gelatine, but still kind of jelly. Pectin, still haven't tried it, but know it is used for jam, and jam can be spread, but can also be kind of wobbly, any thoughts? Also, any other suggestions?

A Perplexing Plurality of Privacy Policies

Near the bottom of many of the pages found on Instructables.com, there is a section labeled "About Us", and underneath that heading there is a list of various links,  titled: "About","Advertise","Press","Contact","Jobs","Legal","Help", and "Privacy Policy" The problem is this:  The link titled "Privacy Policy", does not always link to the same URL. On some pages it links here: https://www.instructables.com/about/privacy.jsp However on other pages it links here: http://usa.autodesk.com/privacy/ One of those pages is the simple, honest PP that Instructables has had for as long as I can remember, going back to the distant bygone era of at least 2008, by my recollection at least. The other page is, what I am guessing is, the privacy policy "inherited" from Autodesk, back in 2011, which was a long time ago, but not that long ago. In contrast to the old Instructables PP, the newer Autodesk PP seems to me to be a little bit more labyrinthine.  You know:  you follow a link, then you follow another link... http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/item?siteID=123112&id;=14175119 http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/item?siteID=123112&id;=14175119#9 http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/item?siteID=123112&id;=13252943 and that leads to an op-out form, which contains the plural question: "Would you like to receive information from Autodesk, our affiliates, or partners including information about new products and special promotions? Via Email?Via Phone? Via Postal Mail?" And there are three little [Yes][No] radio buttons for those. For some reason, maybe it's just the voices in my head,  I don't even want to know what happens to anyone who submits that form. I mean its probably mostly harmless.  Probably.   But, still, I don't want to touch it. Anyway... my point here is that even though no one ever actually reads the privacy polices, it would be nice if all the links that say "Privacy Policy" on Instructables point to the same page.  I think it  would look more consistent and sane that way. Moreover, it would be extra special nice, if the PP page all Instructables pages link to is the nice, simple one, on the Instructables domain, here: https://www.instructables.com/about/privacy.jsp And maybe everyone here could just ignore that other PP on the Autodesk domain. I mean, that's my suggestion for solving the consistency problem. In fact there exists a clause in the Instructables PP under "Business Transfers", and the language in that sort of infers  the Autodesk PP may be in effect.  That is, assuming everyone knows about Instructables being owned by Autodesk. What I'm saying it that you could just leave it up the members who read the Instructables PP, to conclude that the AutoDesk PP may be in effect,  that might be good enough, and interested persons could look into that can of worms, on Autodesk's domain, on their own if they want to. In conclusion:  Just change all the links titled "Privacy Policy" to point to: https://www.instructables.com/about/privacy.jsp and call that good.  Because the alternative, links to plural PPs across different domains, is confusing, and kinda looks inconsistent and bad.

Title image for instructable isn't consistent

I posted this instructable this morning, and only just noticed that the main image you see when viewing the instructable and the main image you see when browsing or looking at my instructables on my member page are different images. Is there a bug, or is there something you need to do to specify the main image in the new editor?

how can i be consistent in printing with rubberized innk?

I have a problem with rubberized ink.. . some tutorials say that I have to press it hard but when i do, it's like the paint is being scraped and the "shiny" effect is not achieved.. . I don't know what to do with the rubberized ink.. another thing is that, where does "bleeding" come from? I mean, what mistake can I possibly commit to see that on my shirt? is it because of not enough pressure? another thing, about the sides of the image, sometimes i do get a "scraped" line on the side of the image.. .why is that so? Can you give me some insights on what errors to prevent? thanks

What are these devices consisting of audio jack and LED(s) OR IR-transistors OR similar looking parts? Answered

I was cleaning in the office I work in and found these two devices on the picture. Now I'm curious what are these for as I couldn't derive the purpose from the looks. One of them has a mono 3.5mm audio jack and two LEDs or similar looking parts - 5mm round transparent things. One side of the enclosure around each "LED" has a sticky tape. If they would be attached to something then the "LED" would face 45 degrees from the surface. The other has a stereo 2.5 mm audio jack and one dark IR-reciver-like thing in a small round enclosure. The enclosure has two small holes on the other side, but I'm not sure if they are important. I tried the one with two "LED"-s in a headphone socket but nothing happened.

Can I make a 15W+ 1-5Ohm resistor?

I'm making a yard sprayer with a 12V, 5amp pump.  It works great, but I'd like to add in a 2nd, slower speed setting for situations where I want less fluid going through the sprayer.  It needs to a be a simple fast/slow switch, not a variable resistor, since I need the flow rate to be repeatable and consistent.  Ideally, I'd like to make about a 2-ohm resistor, that would need to be able to handle about 15W.  Unfortunately, no local shops have anything like that, and I don't want to wait for an on-line order to get shipped. Is there any way to make a DIY resistor to roughly achieve these characteristics?  (Like I said, the important part is that it will be a consistent resistance value, not a specific resistance value, and not burn up with 2-4 amps going through it..)

Up and Coming

Contrary to popular belief, I havent left instructables, and I havent died. I have however been working on bunches of projects (some of which you may remember from my "Things I'm Going to Post Soon" slideshow). Unfortunately, most projects, such as a crossbow, slide-action pistol, semi-auto sniper, etc., have miserably failed. And even worse, several projects (FAMAS, M6G, and the D.R.A.G.O.N) have been demolished for lack of pieces, and will need to be rebuilt. The first project to be posted will be my M6G Magnum (halo 1 pistol), which should be up by the end of the week, followed by my completely new Sniper, the KSR (at least until I find a better name), which I have made since, according to previous feedback, my R700 simply wasnt cutting the jib. It features an extremely comfortable handle, an upgraded trigger system, and better overall statistics (range and accuracy). After that is posted, I might be able to rebuild the FAMAS, or the DRAGON, but dont get your hopes up, they are hard to remake, so I'll probably just make a new gun, such as the Shipka SMG. Stats: M6G Magnum •Range: ~ 20-30 ft. •Accuracy: Consistent •Mag: Loads 9 pcs. KSR •Range: ~65-70 ft. (depending on bands) •Accuracy: Very Consistent •Mag: Single shot / rail system FAMAS •Range: ~30-40 ft. •Accuracy: Good consistency •Mag: Loads 12 pcs. D.R.A.G.O.N •Range: ~50-80 ft. (depending on ammo type) •Accuracy: Medium consistency •Mag: Single shot / dual rail system PS - Constructive critisism is welcome, but dont just say: "wow _____ gun sucks" The pictures are as follows: 1. M6G Magnum (w/ comparison) 2. KSR 3. FAMAS (w/ comparison) 4. D.R.A.G.O.N

Atmel AVR IDE/assembler won't run (Windows 8)

I'm trying to write some code for my AVR in assembly, but I cannot get either the Atmel studio 6.0 (with or without sp1) or AVR32 studio 2.6 to run. Studio 6.0 with the service pack states that it will work on windows 8 but consistently gives the error message "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b)". AVR32 generates a Java error. This is consistent across all compatability settings and running as administrator. This is on a pretty much clean install of windows 8 pro x64, with all updates and the latest release of both 32 and 64 bit Java. All other software has installed and run without issues, including the equivalent software for microchips microcontrollers. I would appreciate any suggestions as to how to get this software to run, or any alternatives that may work. Thanks in advance for any help.
