Zipfizz Containers

Javafix containers?

I'm reasonably certain that I didn't dream this up, but if I did I am sorry. No, not really because somebody should make a coffee brand called that. Anyway apparently there was back in the DDR a coffee brand called 'JavaFix'(spelling uncertain) Which is either a mistranslated or made up name  or it was actually called that in which case it's awesome and I have to know where to get a tin or two. (or at least a high resolution image.) Yes I did google it and no I didn't find any appropriate links. (Presumably Britney Spears owns the whole coffee industry with something weird called a "latte" or a 'frappuccino' I assume it is some type of hard drug made of amphetamines ground toddlers and the anguished cries of dying orphans...)

Reusable To-Go Food Containers

I've been thinking of this idea for a while now. Everyone is using those reusable shopping bags these days, so why not design a reusable, resealable and collapsible to go container? I say collapsible so that when you're not using it, it can be stored in a purse and not take up a lot of room.

what is this copper container? Answered

I am going to AJ2013 (23 australian jamboree in maryborough) and i need to raise funds to pay for entry. i have been looking through the cupboard trying to find things to sell. i remebered this which i bought for $15 at a garage sale a few years ago. if anyone could help with identification of this and how much money i could sell it for that would be awesome. it says that it is quell fire fighting equipment, automatic, and made in 1957. it is a copper tank with copper rivets, a brass screw lid and rubber hose with brass fittings. my estimate on the capacity would be about 9 liters/2.5 gallons/20 pints. i think that you are meant to hold it upside down and the weight of the water pushes it out the nozzle. i dont know if that is right because it doesnt come out very fast.

Easy way to strip paint off plastic containers?

I am trying to take paint (printing) off of a plastic container -- the body is a 5 and the lid is a 2. I can do it by hand using sand paper but it is taking a really long time. (And I have 18 containers to strip.) Any suggestions for something that would strip this and not be too crazy with fumes, bad for environment, yadda yadda yadda? Thanks for the help!

Suggestions on making a plastic-free push-up cosmetic container? Answered

I absolutely despise plastic and don't want it touching my body or anything that touches me any more than absolutely necessary. I've been working on some home-made body care products, and have made the deodorant posted on Instructables by scoochmaroo...but she re-uses an old plastic bottle, and that's just icky! So I'm open to suggestions...aluminum, glass bottles converted somehow, toilet paper tubes, ceramic, birch bark...whatever! I'd like it to sit at 1-2 oz, and have push-up-from-the-bottom capabilities. Or if you know where I can find what I want, I've been looking all over the net and haven't found a thing!

Shipping Container Workshop To Kenya

Howdy, My friends and I are building a workshop out of a shipping container, and we want Makers' suggestions on equipment. We'll be sending a 20' shipping container from Austin, Texas to Bungoma, a city in Western Kenya. The primary goal will be constructing chambers in which we can create biochar ( http://www.re-char.com ), and we want to make the shop as versatile as possible. Thus far, we've definitively spent ~$8,000 of our $20,000 budget, mainly on a used plasmacam 4'x4' CNC with 2 plasma cutters, and allocated <20% of our space. Here's our list of some proposed equipment: https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AsejLtLc70nwdG5DeVJmOVA4OUxpcXl6alFaNzh5Unc&hl;=en_US What are we missing that we just shouldn't be without? We'll have access to (dirty) grid power, standard industrial building materials, and (slow, expensive) shipping from the West. Please add your ideas to the spreadsheet and your broader comments below. We'll read everything, incorporate the best suggestions, and let you know what our final inventory becomes. We need to have our container in transit by the end of the month, so don't delay! Thanks, Luke

Recycling chemical containers in Tanzania

We're situated in Tanzania on a cereals farm. Needless to say - plenty of empty plastic chemical containers, creating massive headaches when it comes to destroying it. Does anyone have some pointers as to how we can do re-cycling on the farm - keeping in mind we're about 800km (500miles) due west from Dar-es-Salaam. We'd like to make some 5-7 mm sheeting out of the stuff to be used on the farm - to replace stolen sheet-metal water gates used for regulating water flow into rice paddies. Any sparks out there to light our fire? Kind regards Hendrik Neethling Kapunga Rice Project Limited (KRPL) Tanzania Mail: hjn@krplbio.com Land: +255 752 44 5572 Cell: +255 768 299 813

how does this tea container work? Answered

My parents have had it for as long as i can remember, and then a bit more, its branded by Tetley, and as i recall, it is some sort of limited edition container, there is no date stamped on it anywhere, its made by Royal Winton. when you poen the lid, the container will play a tune, and its only when there is light visible by the bottom of the lid, if you set the lid on a flat surface or turn off the lights, it stops singing. which brings me to the question: how does it know its open, how does it make noise, and, most confusing, how has it managed to keep working even though its at least 20 years old? surely if it ran off of a battery it wouldve burnt out by now, right?

Small self-contained energy source

Hello,            I am interested in making a energy source similar to iron man's arc reactor in the fact that it is small, self contained, and and powerful. I would like it to be hand-held, but I can deal with slightly larger or even desk size. It needs to be long lasting. I am well aware that an arc reactor is fictional, but I just need something that may be similar. It can be a large project (I have time) but needs to be not super expencive. Around $500 is the max I can go for!  I hope someone can help, 13islucky

Cutting Tin - Candy & Mint Containers

Greetings all,   I have an interest in cutting patterns in the smooth tops of tin candy & mint containers but am a complete noob to this sort of fabricating, would appreciate any helpful offboard links or posted Instructables here. What I'm wanting to achieve is a 'finished' item that looks plasma-cut but since the item itself is quite fragile as well as small in general size I have no clue other than the very time-consuming process of 'routing' out such with a mini-Dremel.     Fairly tight budget here too so a dedicated C-N-C setup is a bit unlikely but no impossible. Thanks in advance !

Mk 219 fuze container value? Answered

I got this today at goodwill for $2.68 USD From what i got off the label Its some sort of ammo can for mk 219-3 fuze. Made by Nash-Kelvinator (automobile meets refrigerator) in 1943.  I know in the 40's everyone was into the war effort so its not that strange that an appliance/auto company would be making bomb fuzes. the MARK designation means Navy. My question, i picked this up to utilize as a small box for my smaller tools. Its in really good condition for being 68 years old. The inside is only scratched where the fuzes would have been rubbing the paint. (almost as if it contained live ordnance up until now). I checked ebay and havent seen any of these online.  Anyone have any idea how much its worth or rarity?(if its worth more than a tool box ill just sell it and buy a nice craftsman or something)

"This video contains content from SME" message

Hi everyone.  I have an Instructables I recently posted which contains some videos. I've never had trouble with people viewing my videos on previous instructables I've posted, but on my most recent one, E4-B4 Astromech Droid, on of the videos has the following message... This video contains content from SME. It is restricted from playback on certain sites. Watch on YouTube." So first off, what the heck is SME? If it's such an issue, what does it leave a link to view the video on YouTube, which it plays in anyway? How can I get rid of it? And why is it that Instuctables.com is one of the sites that has this issue? This particular video does contain some third party content which I do have their permitton to use, so I don't see why I get this rather annoying message.  Thanks guys.

Heat conduction containment between windows and curtains

How do I contain the heat rising between curtains and windows in east and south facing windows? (on the cheap, please) It will spread across the ceiling and blast into the room...ugh...? I just installed new thermal draperies that go from floor to above window but there is that gap at the top...and no room for a valance type box... The east windows span 124" x 69"--5 Anderson type windows. The left and right ends of the windows (5 panes) are the ones that open. The south wall is 124" by 56"--two panes, both crank open. Any good easy practical suggestions?

Would a container in space maintain its temperature?

It space where there are no particles in the air (metaphorically), would a container maintain its heat.  A vacuum doesn't conduct and in theory that would remove any chance of something losing its heat energy.  And if so would the earth lose all of its heat in the even't of the sun going away.  Or would it average out all of the temperatures, which would still be very cold and would leave the earth feeling about 0 degrees Celsius.  But in theory this would allow us to use some vast heating operation to raise the temperature of a planet and maintain it for us to live on.  I know that there are some things on earth that use the heat and convert its energy to other forms therefore heat is removed from within earth, but could those be eliminated?  This is all just food for thought for people and I kinda wondered what people would say.  Its all in all just fun to learn new things.

Thanks for the advice on my earlier question guys but now I'm wondering what the best size to make my tank. Just so everyone knows I'm trying to improve a pneumatic  air soft gun I made a while back. I just want to know if a really small canister, like one with an aria of 12 square inches for instance, could launch my air soft bb just as fast as a 100 sq inch canister if they both had the same amount of pressure inside. If not then whats the best canister size in between the two to launch my air soft bb. Thanks for the help : )

How to seal a system containing ethanol, but low friction?

Still working on my solar device (in Copenhagen now), and it's coming along fairly nicely. Should hopefully have a full instructable in a couple of weeks. However, I'm having problems at the moment trying to keep the thing water tight, where the axle leaves the system, taking out the rotational motion. I'm using the bearing housing from an old bike wheel (photos to come) and I've got it sealed well where it's attached to wall of the container, but the ethanol is flowing pretty freely through the bearings themselves. I need it not to. I could use something like an O ring to seal the axle, but friction is a big issue. I wanted to pack the whole axle and bearing housing with grease, but grease dissolves in ethanol. Solutions? Is there anything grease like which isn't soluble in alcohol? Salt, maybe? Cheers all. (Nearly there...)

Self-Contained Laser Trip (All in one unit)

Hey y’all, I have been searching for a way to create a laser trip wire that doesn’t involve two units that line up to have the beam broken. Is there a way to emit a laser that triggers LEDs or buzzers just when the laser is broken, all coming from one unit? I’ve read about the LED/IR type projections and that’s the closest I’ve found. Any help is welcome. Thanks!

How to connect a solenoid valve to my water container? Answered

I have a setup in my mind, consisting of a plastic bottle(filled with water) with a male threaded neck. This bottle is sitting upside-down so the threaded neck is on the bottom. I want to transfer this water to a cup(by freefalling water) through an electrically controlled solenoid valve. The problem is, the plastic bottle I have picked out has a neck outer diameter of 1-1/2 inches, and assuming I want to directly connect the solenoid valve to the neck, I need to get a 1-1/2" diameter valve, which is above $100. Is there any way to connect this container and a valve(still not picked out) without that high a cost? Maybe a reducer of some sort(i looked but cant find any with 1-1/2" diameter on one side)?  Thanks guys, and sorry if the question is kinda weird and simple. For a reference, check this project. https://www.instructables.com/id/Robotic-Drink-Mixer/ What i want to do is similar, but instead of using a pump, I want the water to freefall into the cup.I'd like to eliminate the tubing too.

Anyone got thoughts on this instructable idea?

I own a foodsaver with those airtight containers. The rubber piece came off the other day and got me to thinking. Almost any container could be used by drilling a hole in it. Maybe someone could come up with a DIY to make containers that work with foodsaver or those Zip pumps that take the air out of containers. Those pint containers that come with Chinese food might work. Or Tupperware or Ziploc containers would do also. I just have the idea but not the talent to do it. I'll leave that to others. ha ha.
