Do you think there is going to be a Halloween contest this year? I hope so b/c I'm working on something Halloweeny. Plus it seems like during the Halloween cotest someone always complains/whines about their project not being a finalist or someone pirating their idea, which can be entertaining. I had some other contest ideas: Most Likely to be Sold in an Infomercial. (Stuff that is in the tradition of Ron Popiel) Practicallity Contest. (Stuff that may not be sexy, but is very useful) Dark Ages Contest. (The projects couldn't contain LEDs or electronics.) Vacuum Contest (Ibles for the vacuum cleaner or that use a vacuum. You'd want them to suck. :) Just a couple of thoughts.

Just wanted to ask if yous are able to make the contests open to New Zealand? I see you have Australia in there but what about us here in NZ? I work at a after school center for youth and I have a few members that would really like to enter the LED competition you have going at the moment. They have just started thinking about something and then I saw the fine print that the comp was not open to us. Could this change anytime soon?

Is there a time limit for how long after you publish an instructable, it can be entered into a contest? (if not, there should be...maybe a year) Is there a limit to the number of times the same instructable can win a contest? (if not, then it should be limited to once)

If i submit multiple entries in a contest, will they have an effect on the judging of each other asides from the fact that only one can win. Will he user be kept in mind while judging the entries or will they all be judged separately and the highest scoring one be awarded? ty

So where is the total of votes for our projects? Sorry this is my first contest here so I do not know these things. I see page views and favorite but how do we know how many votes we have? Someone said that winning is not by votes alone, so does this mean we could have a low number of votes and still win a contest? I am confused, lol

Hey Gang, I thought I would share an idea with you guy. Lately when I hear about a contest, it is usually way to late to do anything about it. SO I went to the contest page to look at the and noted that there is no real organization to them. They are all in a vertical line down the p[age but their dates don't correlate to their position at all. At the very least, please fix this. Also, can you make them into an ICS as well as put them on a publicly shared Google Calendar? I really need notifications on this kind of thing! Thanks!@ DragonDon

Hello, one of my friends is working on designing and manufacturing products related to schools, education etc. These products are all made of PP sheets. He is also producing those sheets. Project bags, sheets, files, school bags, bookcovers form some of their product line. A PP (Poly propilene) sheet is an environment friendly new technology which can substitute older plastics in the manufacture of lots of products. PP can be molded into products, can be produced as wide sheets. And the material is very colourful, produced in any color you like. My friend and his company is very willing to sponsor a new contest about products made of PP sheets. And can supply the winners' presents etc. can someone from instructables.com contact me about this? thanks.

It seems that all contests have the same "Criteria" originality, usefulness, simplicity, and clarity of instructions. I have looked at some of the past contest winners and wonder how these "Criteria" were applied. Some of the past winners have been anything but simple, and the instructable may have many questions in the comments about what is meant in the instructions or asking for clarifications. Also the "usefulness" of some of the winners is very questionable. It looks like the more complicated and outlandish the instructable the better chance it has to win.

I have a question, how come every time it says a contests ends, for example "wear it contest, judging ends Oct 28, 2014" You guys never actually show the winners until much later? Its Oct 30 and still no sign. I really want to see if the instructable I voted for won! Is my computer just late to get the results or does it take a long time to show the winners? No offense but you guys really should follow your deadlines better. (Please don't think im rude, Im really just wondering why its delayed so much) Anyway, Thanks for listening to my feedback.

Ok, why shouldn't there be a contest, for kids 0-16 year olds... this is because many contests contains electric things like circuit boards and programming where many kids like me cannot understand at all! Also, why couldn't kids enter most contests, such as the back to school contest. This is why I believe there should be contests or challenges that kids can enter. Comment below if you have any suggestions or disagreements.

I am really bummed that there are all these cool contests, especially in the food category and I can't enter because my husband works at Autodesk? Is this true? He has nothing to do with Instructables. We did enter the Halloween contest for employees but all of the instructables on food are mine and not his. Do I need to get a divorce? ;-)

Ok, I feel like a goof for asking this, but what is the mechanism by which one votes for an entry in the pie contest? (No, I don't mean how do I vote for my own. *grin*) But there are some groovy recipes that have been entered. I've rated a few, and commented on one or two, but I don't see a clickable button or link to vote for a specific entry, like there is for the book contest. I'm sure I'm just missing it, could someone tell me where it is? Thanks. :)

I was thinking of entering the Party Food contest and Monster contest but I was wondering...if I become a finalist in both contests (hopefully :), will that affect my chance of winning each contest? Like I probably wouldn't be given a prize for the monster contest if I'm being considered for one in the party food contest?

I love the contests that you run on here, however the voting part does not seem to be fair to everyone who has submitted entries. When you have 500 entries to look through & only 15 on a page, some people may not bother or be able to get through all of them. They appear to always come up in the same order, my point being that the Instructables listed on the first pages are the ones that will most likely get the most votes, regardless if there is an incredible entry in the last pages. Everyone is seeing the same first 15 entries. My suggestion would be to randomize the entries so that not everyone sees the same ones on the first page, so that the voting would be spread out. At the very least fewer pages with more entries on them should be considered. Only reason I brought this up is that when you had the contest for the Instructables book, I never did get through all of the entries and feel bad that someone's entry that was further back didn't make it into the book because few people even saw it. Thanks!

My screen name is Fallental, I entered my instructable, "Duct Tape Tool Tote", to 3 contests. Craftsman tools contest, Epilog Challenge Contest, and the Duct Tape Tough contest. It was accepted into the Epilog Challenge very fast. 48 hours are not up for it to be accepted into the Duct Tape Tough contest, but I was wondering if it was going to be accepted or not because its already in another contest (Epilog challenge)? I really want it in the duct tape contest. Thank you, Fallental

I was looking at entries for the Glovebox Contest and saw a couple that didn't seem to have anything to do with cars or travel of any kind. Did the moderating system change? I also saw an ible for a bike in that contest. Is the contest open to motorcycle/scooter/bicycle entries as well?

It seems like the Paint It! Contest has been stuck in judging for a while now. I was wondering when the winners will be announced. Also, (I may have imagined this) weren't there "runner up" prizes initially available in the contest? https://www.instructables.com/contest/paint/
