What would be a creative addition to a Surgeon costume I'm wearing as a Halloween party? Too generic by itself. ZZZzzz.

I work in a hospital where I was allowed to bring home a gown, gloves, cap, booties, & a facemask. You guys always have some awsome creative & original ideas. $cheaper&-the-better. THANKS 8)

Warrior Dash Costume

Www.warriordash.com This event is coming to Florida and I am going to participate in it with a few of my friends. Before this competition takes place I would like to have a costume made for me to wear during the race. So my challenge to any DIY'ers who would like to engage is to make a costume I could wear to Warrior Dash. The creator who makes the best costume will be rewarded by me wearing it to this event. Usually the people in costumes are the ones the film crews capture video of at all the Warrior Dash Events so there's a strong possibility your costume could show up. I will pay shipping and handling if required. Tomorrow I will post up my measurements. I would need this costume made & shipped to me before the 22nd of January 2011. Costume requirements: Can be any design relative to Warrior Dash or vikings, knights, animals, any tribes/clans/kingdoms, video game characters, etc. Whole costume not required could be anything from just a mask, gloves, body armor, signs, leggings, gloves, accessories Creators are encouraged to collaborate in order to be more efficient and merge ideas together Best of Luck Thanks, to anyone's intrigue I may have peaked

Can we get a channel for costuming?

There's a lot of costuming content on this site, and from what I can tell there are only two channels that currently contain these instructables; halloween and props. Some of the costumes aren't really "props", and "halloween" (1.) includes all kinds of non-costume related things and (2.) doesn't really cover costumes for cosplaying or larping or whatever other reason you might have for dressing up. I love costuming and I want to suggest a channel specifically for costumes, costume accessories, and the like. That way if anyone wants to look at costume ideas they don't have to sift through hundreds of ways to decorate your house for halloween. ::EDIT:: It appears a channel has been added for costuming since I asked this question. Thanks Instructables!

I need to make fake hipster glasses

Hello.  In two weeks, I need to look something like this guy: http://dsc.discovery.com/fansites/mythbusters/meet/gallery/mythbusters-adam-savage-bio-2-324x205.jpg I've already got someone doing Jamie Hyneman.  The only problematic bit for me is the glasses.  See, I already wear glasses, and my frames aren't that thick.  So, in maximizing authenticity, I'd like to do a DIY-conversion for my glasses to make them look like Adam Savage's hipster glasses.  Here's my working hypothesis.  I get some kind of thick, lightweight, cut-able material and cut it into two parts, with a groove lining the inside.  Then I glue the two halves together, fitting around the frames of my current glasses. I'm thinking my best option for a material is thick posterboard - the stuff that's sort of foamy in the middle, with card paper on either side.  The foamy bit would make it easy to carve a groove and fit it around my glasses. Here are my current blueprints: Would love to fish for a few more ideas, though, before I dive headlong into this.  Are there any other materials that might do me better, or a better method altogether?  Input of any sort is appreciated!

Can someone suggest any costume pieces that could be integrated into casual clothing?

I was surfing some instructables and came across one for Sonic's shoes. This got me thinking: what if there were parts of characters from games, stories or movies that could be added to t-shirts, hats, pants, shoes, accessories, etc. I have always been a huge fan of dressing up, but have done it less and less so that i don't seem look to crazy or childish (even though thats how I act most of the time anyway :P). Franchises that i like are Halo, Bioshock, Fullmetal Alchemist, Bleach, Pokemon, Death Note, Star Wars, Gears of War, Lord of the Rings, etc. I am heavily into Fantasy and First-Person Shooters. I was thinking that objects such as a drill bracelet (bioshock), COG necklace (Gears of War)  or Ash Ketchum hat (Pokemon) could be subtly incorporated into my attire that could go a long way to expressing myself and my interests. Any links to instructables, websites or just general ideas will be appreciated.

Moving Ears

Hello,I was just wondering if anyone could help. I have an idea for something I want to build, however I just need a push in the right direction.I’m working on a costume with antenna ears. I could just make them static however I want to add a bit of movement. Basicially I want them to, when I tilt my head down, the ears flatten (think a cats ears when angry) and when I lean my head back, they point up. The rest of the time they stay in the middle.I want them to be automatic. I really hate triggers or controls, as soon as someone notices how you are operating it, the illusion is ruined. I also don’t want to use electronics (the sound of a motor).I am absolutely sure I can oull this off, however I’m not sure the best way of doing it. I was thinking fluid filled tubes, as the water exits one it enters the other. Or the mechanism in dolls so they sleep while lying down.Does anyone have other ideas or pointers?

What props/armor are a must-make in the DIY world?

I'm currently looking towards making something like weapons, armors, etc., specifically those with origins from movies, cartoons, video games, etc. Other than the ones everyone does such as Halo, Iron Man, knight armor, etc. what other armor, weapons, or accessories are a must-make or just plain awesome? Think along the lines of something like the Batman gauntlet, except from movies (or something) that are old but still remembered and cool. Also thinking of a long term project of a chiken-walker mech costume, exoskeleton costume (NOT Iron Man), or AT-RT. What do you think?
