Idea

This is one of those ideas that I came up with yet unfortunately I don't think that I will have the time nor effort to complete it. Yet I would love to see it come into fruition, and that's why I've decided to explain it here. What I would like to see is some crafty individual take the concept of the bristle bot and simply increase the magnitude of the dimensions and make it into a ride-able craft. This also could possibly be entered into the big and small challenge. Any questions that you might come up with I will gladly answer.

listing crafts

Other than knitting and sewing what would be crafts? I do woodworking ,metalworking as craft ,i do not think that those would quantify for this. Any ideas ? to expand this ie. leatherwork? wood carving? I am the guy that build stuff not the guy that thought it up.

Craft project ideas for hospitalized patients

The mission of The Crafting for Charity Club is to assist other charitable organizations and nonprofit groups by providing craft skills education and organizing the creation of handmade arts and crafts. That being said, we have been asked to make craft kits and teach craft skills to bed ridden patients at a local hospital. This will be a long-term thing for us and we need as many ideas as we can get. Another thing we need to consider is projects for parents to work on with their kids. We've got the following ideas so far: scrapbook kits crocheting knitting card making embroidery/cross stitch making games jewelry We've been told we could even make playdough and silly putty! While we have general ideas, we could use as much help as we can get for specific instructions. This isn't something we're going to sell these things, they are purely for use in charitable purposes. That being said, we will likely post our patterns in our members only section of our website.

So I've got this brick...

Sometime last year I received a brick that is very special to me. It came from the outside of the old technology wing of my school when they were knocking it down to make way for the new building, and I have a lot of great memories from those rooms. The only problem is...well...it's a big red brick. Its only current function is as a doorstop to my bedroom which I stub my toe on each time I enter. I'm growing sick and tired of it but I don't want to get rid of it either. I figured I might do something crafty with it instead, but unfortunately other than the creative application of paint and glue to make it a less-than-charming piece I can put on my shelf, I'm drawing a blank. Does anyone have any ideas?

A question - Can we post ideas than builds/crafts?

I was thinking about doing instructables on knowledge on survival in the wilderness. But I'm just wondering if it's acceptable here. It seems that most of the instructions I've seen are crafts or builds. Just a friendly question; if not; then I will find a way to make it craft-ish

Look here if you need Ideas!!!

Lots of people are asking for ideas for instructables. Here's a few ideas that might give you a new idea. If you have any ideas, post em here, so people can hopefully make em.Tech:* As suggested by Redrev: Take a DVD-Player/recorder that the DVD drive has died and take the tuner and video hook ups along with lcd screen(that shows the channel and dvd section numbers) and connect to the computer to watch t.v. and dvd's ala win-tv.Climbing Robot- a robot that can climb a little stairs of books or something. Or at least crawl.A model of an elevator- you know, you hit a button on a remote, and the elevator rises to that level.Model Train- one of those little trains. Would be cool to learn how to make one.Model Forklift- Its basically an R/C car, but can anyone make it lift a little notebook?Pencil Sharpener? (Electric)Introductions - Theres a lot of big words out there, but most of us have never heard of em. If you're good with something, why not shre your knowledge?FlexinolsmtOffBeat:Weird Uses for satellite dishes- I've noticed how many thing you can do with old satellite dishes. Be creative!Naruto Costumes and accesories (not paper)Dragon Ball Z style effects with smoke- how about pressurizing fog or something to have it shoot out of a tube? Would be neat.A DS Game CaseArtHow to draw Anime Hands- personally I find that hands are the hardest thing to draw. Maybe someone has a little trick to get em right?Bridge of toothpicks- Its a bridge made or little wooden sticks that can hold a grown man. I've seen it in a lot of science fairs, and it would be neat to learn how to make em.As much as I hate myself for doing this, yes this is another post of an old topic I had. Just saying it before anyone else.

Cross Marketing Idea for Instructables

I was checking out the instructable for the coffee bag wallet and had a great idea. You know how grocery stores have recipe cards seeded around the store? I think  Instructables should hook up with Target stores and make recipe cards of  recycling crafts,  placed in front of the product areas. In the past I have seen Target run a recipe card campaign on their own, versus relying on product manufacturers to place the cards and i know they are a perfect fit for the demographic of both this website and their market. Imagine how many altoids tins, coffee bags they could move!!  Another idea - Ikea! - How many times are those lack tables used in projects? Tons! for Ikea, an instore "re-craft show" would be super cool! Did anyone ever see all the marketing that Gallo wines put into bottle reuse - or their booth at Makerfaire? Made me go out an buy a bottle... It's all win-win!

Jewelrymaking craft area/desk/studio

I've seen ssooo many "shops" for guys making stuff, is there a jewelrymaker out there with any neat ideas about organizing/working space? I basically work at my 4'6" desk, with a smaller 3' typing table at my left side that holds my computer and several compartments on top and a 6 drawer cabinet that fits under it. I'd love to see how other jewelrymakers work, since we don't necessarily need a whole room. My "studio" is in my living/dining room, in my "mini-loft" apartment!

All I have is an idea (And a love of instructables)

Hello dear Instuctablists, You can't see me, but I am down on one knee. It's intended to show my deference to you. The reason? Well, we just finished rebuilding the ground floor of my house and there's now a big, deep-ish rectangular space above the toilet (about 70cm x 50cm and 15 cm deep). I was looking at it the other day, and had an idea for what I would like to put there that made me laugh out loud. The trouble is I have NO IDEA how to make it. Not only that, I can't think of any search terms that are leading me to 'how to' videos. In short all I have is an idea and no clue how to even begin making it. So, here's my idea. What I want to make is what appears to be a framed picture of two velvet curtains. BUT when you flush, the curtains draw back (like at the theatre) to reveal a small scene inside. Lights come on, some music plays, little toys/characters/puppets appear and then ten seconds later, the curtains close and that's that.  In other words and automated, electronic, toy theatre. So what I'm asking is either a) If you have any idea where I should start with this could you tell me where or b) If the end product sounds like something you'd like to see exist and you know how to make it, do you want to mentor me? (We could turn it into a YouTube video/series, do it over Skype or if you're in/near London, UK meet up IRL). Maybe I'm over-reaching in the help stakes, but every time I look at that blank piece of wall, I think: try. Any help gratefully received. Even if you can't help, thanks for reading this. RH (Also, I can't work out how to turn that picture round either. Sheesh. This whole thing is a TALL order)

What craft can I demonstrate or teach at a lunch & learn session for a 40-something aged crowd?

I volunteered to demonstrate a craft at my husband's office (insurance adjustors) early December.  Purpose is to have fun and give employees opportunity to interact.  I find people are generally creative or not, and I'd like something that can appeal to both groups.  I was thinking Chocolate Cherry Mice but question if I could accomodate a group of more than 5 with double boiler.  Office policy forbids use of office resources (photocopier, computer) for personal use.  Microwave is ok.  I would like to limit the craft to $2-$3/person as I will cover the cost of all materials and supplies.  I suspect people will not want to bring ANYTHING to the session (e.g. photos, ideas, etc)  Many thanks for ANY suggestions!

I'm trying to find a simple 365 project... any ideas? Answered

I have sewing, drawing, baking, photography, general crafting, and painting skills. I have some experience with crocheting, knitting, woodworking, gardening, writing, and scrapbooking. I like history (specifically American Revolution, Napoleonic Era England & France, and Victorian England & America), art (Impressionists are high on my list), anime and manga (although I'm still new to it), and science fiction. I don't know if I'm looking for one project to do every day for a year, or a "genre" of projects so I can mix up my weeks. I don't have a ton of funds to pour into this, but I have a lot of supplies for the things I mentioned above. Any help in narrowing down ideas would be greatly appreciated... I feel like I'm drowning in ideas and don't know where to swim.

Tape cassettes. Hundreds of the things. Any ideas?

Ok, my husband is a hoarder. But only of tape cassettes. There are hundreds (probably thousands) piled up in our bedroom in boxes as we've just moved. We are without a loft space (we had one previously which had a lot of them in) so even my husband was shocked at how much he had when we moved. So! I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what I could do with them? Things I could make? Do? Anything?!  I'm definitely going to be making a few tape cassette purses I think! But I'm definitely up for a little help and ideas :)
