Hello, i have a creative project that i need some advice on. The idea is based off the old chinese cricket cages. From purely the electronics design perspective i would like the following features. 1. A very small solar panel (think the garden light instructables projects) 2. Rechargeable battery pack (size dependent on power needs) 3. A speaker capable of reproducing the sound of a cricket. No volume control needed, just a realistic replication 4. Something to play the sound (this is where i am lost) 5. A single green led bulb 6. a light sensor that would flip the system to on when it is dark. (I would like it to be able to operate light and sound for maybe 3 hours on a full charge) The hope is that all of this could be fit into a 8"x3"x7" space, with the solar panel mounted externally. The installation i can handle, but some of the electronics are beyond my skill level. The best i have managed is the moon jars made from a mason jar and a garden light. This project is basically like that, only with sounds, and placed in a custom enclosure. I suspect that sound is much harder than solar LED lights, and that is what i would most like some input on. If i can get the things made i will gladly share any info, though im not sure i have the skills and equipment to actually write a instructable.

The report needs to be a How-To speech on playing cricket. Basically how to be safe when playing, what stores to get it from, what equipment you need, and how to play and understand the game. It has to be 5-6 minutes long which means it has to be brief but make the audience understand fully by the time I'm done. Any help would be most awesome. thanks

Cricket is a game played in most parts of the world. Somewhat similar to the baseball game.it has a wooden bat made of willow.(please look it up on the net.) the shape of the bat is unique, with almost no flat surface to it. Even the front is slightly curved. I make these bats by hand.... which takes away a lot of my energy doing mundane shaving volumes of wood to get to a basic shape. This is further shaved to a specific shape. I would like to have a machine... to help me do this. I have seen a surfboard shaper that is close to getting the curves on the willow blades. if i could achieve this as cheaply as possible (i am not well to do, with limited funds at my disposal) this would be of a great help. I live in mumbai...which is a city in.. India. Thanking all the guys who could help ..........in advance.

I'm trying to figure out a way to produce a realistic cricket chirping sound, using something mechanical (i.e., not electronic). So far, I'm not having much luck. The only examples I've found of what people are calling "cricket noisemakers" are either big carved wooden cricket-shaped toys with a serrated part that you rub a stick against (which doesn't sound remotely like a cricket) or the WWII metal clicker that was called a cricket, but sounds even less like one. A cork twisting in a tapered wooden hole produces a squeak, but crickets use "stridulation" which, if you slow the sound down, is actually comprised of about 6 individual tones in rapid succession. That's a complication I'm still trying to wrap my head around. Any suggestions? Point of reference: https://youtu.be/CQFEY9RIRJA

I want to build an automatic cricket feeder for my lizard (bearded dragon) because I have to stay home at her eating times and sometimes I want or need to go out. * Ideally I would like to build a small "cabinet" with 1-3 drawers and somehow make the doors open at 11am, 4pm and 9pm, * If this is too hard one door will do but I would need to reprogram it constantly. (crickets would be inside and they would get out as soon as the door opens) * I already have a timer that I can plug and program to 23 different times so I was thinking on using that (or not), It could be something that when on opens or keeps the door open, and I can keep it off the rest of the day with the timer, I just don't know how to do this and how to do something that won't burn after a minute on because that's the minimum time the timer works. * It doesn't need to close back (and that is safer too) * It can't be light activated because some lights are on at all times and another has a timer and goes on for 20 minutes every hour. *It needs to be small because the terrarium is 18inchX18X18 and I don't want to take a lot of room Thank you so very much!!

It has been brought to my attention, after many years of being a proud American, that we are all believing a lie. We are all subjects of the British monarchy. Our good people, the conspiracy theorists, whom never have lied to us before are informing us to that fact. Therefore to show my new allegiance to the Crown, I will sing "Rule Britannia" every morning and I will renounce baseball as my favorite sport and I am gladly replacing cricket as my new spectator sport (I still have no idea how the game is played but I will learn sooner or later). God save the Queen! Watch the video!

I was wondering with all the home crafted weapons what you would classify as the MOST painful moment in you life so far. When were you in the most pain of your life time, was it after being shot with a paint ball gun or when you stubbed you toe against that stupid door. Ohh and once you have remembered remember to give it a pain rating from 1 to 10, 1 being not too painful and 10 extremely painful. I'm sorry if it brings back bad memories but i was just interested. My most painful moment was when i was playing cricket we used to whittle out points to make the stumps then flick them in to the ground, one time i over judged it and it hit me hard on the shin I sat with an ice pack on it for about 2 hours and had a lump the size of an egg!

I just got a bearded dragon and i had him in a 10 gallon tank. i realized it would be much too small for him eventually so i moved him into a 60 gallon tank. its about a constant 85-90 degrees and his basking area is about 100. humidity is at about 40%. i am aware all of the controversey of using crushed walnut, but its a pretty fine grain and not sharp at all, i will replace this if i must. my dragon today isn't eating very well, he is healthy and moving around alot but he won't eat like he used to. just curious if any one has suggestions. i know about the problems with crushed walnut but i dont think that would have much to do with his appetite and i also cant seem to get him to eat any thing but crickets, i have tried alot of different veggies and what not but its all he will touch.... any help would be much appreciated thanks

About a year ago I bought a 10 gallon fish tank for about 10 bucks and 3 small comet feeder goldfish. I had a spare filter and some gravel then tossed in some hides. It look great but now that the fish are about 3-4 inches each I decided they would like a slightly larger tank. I don't want to spend 50 plus dollars for another tank. I was talking to another fish owner the other day and mentioned a large plastic storage container, He said he had used one and built a wooden box around it to support it. My idea is to buy a 30 gallon storage container or cheap plastic pond and build a wooden frame around it then spray great stuff in the gaps for support. How does this sound? I have a desk with a couple cricket keepers on and a leopard gecko. I planned to put wheels on it so I can slide it in and out of the space under the desk. I have a light that I can mount to the bottom of the desk. Does this sound like it would be okay or a disaster waiting to happen. Thanks, Clemsonguy1125

FYI to anyone who has or wants to know what you can feed praying mantis babies right after they hatch. The egg sack i have been "protecting" (i thought) til spring has just hatched a day ago and its only december, my plan was to let them go after they hatched in the spring, but since i didnt keep the sack cold, it hatched now. After i freaked out for abit seeing i have about 50 or more TINY mantis all over the container i put the sack in, i called and called ALL over but no one would take them, and i cant let them just die. Everything i read about them says they only eat LIVE bugs..and they have to be small...really really small..like pinhead crickets or fruit flies...well...YUCK..i dont want that in the house...but if thats what they need then so be it..UNTIL...i called a bait store and the guy (i wanted to KISS him for this info) told me to put RAW MEAT on a string so it sticks in small peices and hang it in the container..IT WORKS!! they went right for it!! SOOOO.........if you dont want or cant get tiny live food for them...FEED THEM RAW HAMBURER MEAT on a string!! this picture is the mom, isnt she beautiful! haha..i mean it!

If you are able to commit time to help us designing or building, please post to: Inscape Access Control System - If you are interested in the project, please go to the group and sign up. - There will be opportunities to work on embedded firmware, electronics, mechanics, encryption, and the membership software application. - You can then control whether to get each email separately or receive a digest once a day. About the project: This project will provide an electronic door access for our new building. The project will involve providing several badge readers (probably RFID), and door lock controllers as well as a car park induction loop. Finally there is a need for software that manages the keys and access privileges. This software must be easy to use as the building landlord will use it. -- Jigsaw Renaissance is a learning and making community, a collaborative community dedicated to collective education and creation. Round 2 will be a less friendly round, it's time to bring out the guns! The gun you built for this contest has to have at least more then 100 parts. I know that sounds like much but it really isn't. Where you're gun will be judge on: - Reliability (Does it jam a lot, is reloading easy enough?) - Structeral Integrity (When you drop a gun, you don't want it to break or jam up, so is it strong?) - Looks (Of course, you wanna show off with your gun so it has to look cool too, so does it?) - Innovation (Innovative mechanisms and other never-done-before stuff, will get you big points!) Anyone interested in a bit of work...I could also run it as a competition. Apologies in advance if what I am doing in not allowed on instructables, but I couldn't find a place to offer this work. Peoplehour does not specialise in tech gadgets! I am a one man band training business in the UK. I am trying to find someone to make this gadget to work with my Gravity Ball Game. Gravity Ball is a two hour team building activity. Gravity Ball requires teams to design and build a construction capable of transporting a ball from one zone to another; the ball must roll freely along the construction using gravity only. There will be a shared zone that will require team collaboration, cooperation and coordination. Everyone needs to contribute to the overall team objective whilst ensuring their own structure functions to a specific brief and works correctly. All teams will release their designated ball (tennis ball, golf ball, cricket ball, squash ball. Etc.) at the same time. Each team ball will roll freely along the team structure, into the shared area and the fall into a collection container. When all the balls are in the container (and a specific weight achieved) then the Weight sensitive relay switch will detonate a electronic confetti cannon. Alternatively, an infra red or sensor can count the number of balls that pass at a particular point and when the designated number is reached, the confetti cannon will detonate The detonation will give a wow factor to the team activity. Considerations: I need a gadget, Arduino, raspberry pi or beaglebone that can measure or count the number of ball and then detonate a confetti cannon or sound an alarm • Programmable weight or ball counter setting • Maximum weight 300g-400g or Maximum number of passing balls is 10 • Work with standard electronic confetti cannon from Confetti Masters, alarm or Siren (http://www.confettimaster.com/streamer.electric.confetti.cannons.html) or Showtec electric cannons (http://www.sblite.co.uk/598-80cm-multicolour-electric-confetti-cannon.html) Message me if you are interested! My first day at Instructables, I found myself sitting on a chair fabricated by the guy next to me, listening to plans for a living salad which would grow through your plate, fertilized by worms below the surface and a stained glass window made of dried fruit, trying to focus on absorbing all the information Vanessa and Noah were dishing out. Just beyond loomed the amazing fabrication facilities, with rows of 3D printers, zillion-axis CNC machines, a stocked electronics room, every kind of adhesive you could dream of, and even a test kitchen! It was a makers dream, Pier 9 had the material and equipment resources to allow us to realize nearly any idea we could dream up, and dream we did. It was immediately clear that the one month my collaborator Kyle (https://www.instructables.com/member/kylemcdonald/) and I had planned to spend there was not enough. Sadly, it was all we had, so we got to work immediately on Noodle, a little robot with the I/O of a machine but the thoughts and feelings of a human. I could go on about the shop at Pier 9, but the thing that really made the experience for me was the people. Hosting 10-12 AIRs at a time, the studio was always full with people building crazy things. One day we'd experiment with Nick's instruments fashioned from rocks, sticks, and water jugs while sampling cocktails from Ben's machine and Rima's cricket ganache, the next day we'd admire Aaron's work on hoodies that zipped around your hands while being serenaded by Andreas' makerbot which seemed to be singing the future. We were all so excited and inspired it wasn't unusual to find half the group there all weekend long or into the wee hours of the night. I won't go so far as to say anyone slept the night there, but... Not only did we get to hang out in the AIRea, but we also got to know all the others working at Pier 9. This was a building full of people willing to chat about anything from caustics to contests, lend you their skateboard so you could learn how, or demo their latest projects. Vanessa and Noah couldn't have been more supportive and helpful, and it was so inspiring to run into them in the shop on weekends hacking away on crazy things of their own. With so much going on, we sometimes had to work hard to tune it out and stay focused on our Noodle. Luckily, Kyle and I had worked together before and we were able to divide and conquer pretty productively. Kyle handled the fabrication aspects, spec'ing all the hardware and designing and lasercutting then 3D printing the physical enclosure for Noodle. I was heads down on the software trying to hook up our raspberry pi to Amazon Mechanical Turk, speakers, a display, a camera, and an interface. Thankfully, the long hack sessions were broken up by Vanessa coming by to peek at my computer over my shoulder and ask, "what's taking so long? how hard can it possibly be!" ;) I will end this post here and get to work finishing up our instructable before Vanessa hunts us down. If the specifics of our project are a bit cryptic still, all will be revealed with the instructable post (see attached pictures for more mystery). And to all of you considering applying to the AIR program, DO IT! If you are a motivated, curious person with energy and ideas you will have a blast. And the weather is ok, too. Thanks Vanessa, Noah and Instructables!

Monster Hunter Monster Forest Elder Trade List FAQ FAQ written by S-Hiryu, WorldZero.com Created on October 3, 2004 Version: 1.04 Contents 1) How to Use this Guide 2) Forest and Hills (Area 7) Alphabetical Order 3) Forest and Hills (Area 7) Order of Priority 4) Jungle (Area 5) Alphabetical Order 5) Jungle (Area 5) Order of Priority 6) Swamp (Area 1) Alphabetical Order 7) Swamp (Area 1) Order of Priority 8) Free Items 9) Contact and Copyright 1) How to Use this Guide The Forest Elder is an NPC who may be spoken with, and depending on the items in your possession, he may offer you a trade. Below is a list of each trade depending on what map you visit the Elder in. The Elder will only be in one specific area on each map. This is located in the parenthesis after the name of each map. For example, "Forest and Hills (Area 7)" means that the Elder may be found in Area 7 of the Forest and Hills map. Each map has two lists, an alphabetized list and an order of priority list. The alphabetized list is simply a list of the items given and received in alphabetical order. The item given is on the left, the item received is on the right. For example, "Gravios Carapace -> Diablos Spine" means if you have a Gravios Carapace in your possession and speak to the Elder, he will offer you a Diablos Spine in return. If you possess no items the Elder wants, he will instead offer you advice. The list is alphabetized by order of the item received (item on the right). The second list for each map is the order of priority list. The Elder will always look to trade the items highest on this list first and foremost. This means if you have an Insect Husk (the item with the highest priority) he will trade you for that before he will offer to trade for the item next on the priority list. If the item next on the list is not in your possession, he will move on to the one after that, and so on. The Elder will only trade with you four times on a single quest. The Elder will always base his trades on the priority lists. The list is prioritized by order of the item given (item on the left). During certain quests, Special Mushroom trades are not available. In such situations, the Elder will instead look for Iron Ore and offer a Small Monster Bone in its place. 2) Forest and Hills (Area 7) Alphabetical Order Gravios Carapace -> Diablos Spine Garbage -> other opportunity to trade with him (based on the fact that the Elder will trade with you four times before getting angry and shooing you away) he may give you a free item for nothing in return. This list is the same as the order of priority list, in which the game checks the item on the top of the list first, only this time you have a random chance of getting that item. If the top item was not "won", the game moves onto the next, and checks to see if you "win" that, and so on, until an item is finally obtained or you fail to win every item. The percentage after the item is the chance you have of obtaining said item before moving on to the next opportunity (only if the previous item was not won).
