Vibrotactile Device

Hi, I am trying to build a portable device that takes vocal vibrations (from a piezo mic attached to the throat) and outputs them as tactile vibrations elsewhere (say at the sternum). I've found and built simple circuits for preamps that run off 9V like this one (https://www.instructables.com/id/Make-a-Simple-Audio-Amplifier/?ALLSTEPS) but I'm struggling to work out how I can connect and power a vibrating device (e.g. another piezo mic) for the output.  I guess I will need to include a low pass filter too to prevent the device creating audible output (I just want low frequency tactile vibration). I've seen a similar project here https://www.instructables.com/id/Representing-audio-through-vibration-with-Arduino/?ALLSTEPS but it's using an arduino and I feel like that's unnecessary for my purposes.  Any ideas really appreciated, Oli

Hugging device

We are in search for ideas and/or off-the-shelf solutions for a mobility and toileting issue in response to the following request: "I apologize for posting again so soon, but I forgot to describe my disability, and why I'm physically unable to hug someone. I was born with a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy called Nemaline Myopathy. My disability affects me in many ways, but in this case, I'm unable to independently raise my arms, wrap them around someone, and have them stay in place. A device I'm seeking would have the ability to suspend my arms in the air, and be able to bring them together. One suggestion was to somehow hook it up to a motor, and operate the device by a remote. Also, when I was a kid, I had a device that was like a sling for my arms. The two slings were attached to two separate metal rods on both sides of me that were able to attach and detach from the back of my wheelchair. Someone would slide my arms into the sleeves, and I was able to bring my arms together, or do various tasks, like typing, with my arms suspended in the sling. I do have the strength to squeeze my arms together, but without assistance, my arms eventually do slide down due to gravity. A device similar to the sling idea would probably be ideal, plus no motor or electronic devices would be needed. I realize that this project could be timely, and possibly expensive, but to me it's worth it. I'd love to be able to give someone that I care about a real hug, and experience another form of intimacy and closeness." Happy to hear your ideas! IOT devices

Hello. Please suggest some thoughts on the below: i am new to the IOT programming. just started learning with Intel Galileo Gen 2 board and Grove starter plus kit. I have a question in mind.. How can we package all the pieces and make as a product.. mean.. lets say when i do the temperature control that uses temperature sensor and display value in RGB screen, how do i make it as a packaged product so that i can make it portable instead of having the chips, wires etc..  i have basic idea that we can use 9v battery and run on it, but my question is, are there any ways that we can wrap all the things into a component box or something? any simple ways..??

How to make a pairing device with an alarm?

Dear members, My vehicle was stolen from my house depite it had an external steering lock and a romote controlled door lock. The thieves had all the knowledge how to bypass these. In fact they have can work with every car anti-theft device sold in the market. I am wondering if we can make a device, one placed in the car and other inside house. Both get paired when I park my car in house and if the car is moved away the signal becomes weaker and then disconnects and the device inside the house starts beeping. My garage and bedroom are approximately 150 feet apart. Thank you

Powering multiple devices with different voltage using one wall wart.

I really hate to post such a remedial question here but after searching the better part of the entire weekend for an answer I'm not much further along than I was at the start. I even went as far as hauling my butt to the radio shack to ask them.... I don't know what I was thinking there... It's always been obvious to me the guys there don't know much more than how to push cell phones - not to say they are all like that but the one by me has never been any help in terms of electronics. Anyway, I want to power a 5mw (3 volt) laser and one PC cooling fan (9 volt?) from one spare 12v wall wart. I've never been much for electronics but I'm thinking I can run the power to a breadboard, then run 2 seperate feeds through various resistors and/or regulators... just can't get any straight answers as to the best approach for this.... what's the best way to cut the voltage to a safe level for each device. I'd be happy with a good instructable for something like this if someone can point me toward one. Thanks for your help!

I want this cellphone thing, please construct?

This is my dilemma and I am sure I am far from alone.  I work for an employer that does not allow me to bring my cellphone into the building because of data sensitivity issues.  because our cellphones all have nice cameras in them now, it's a no-no. I am a parent who would still like to be notified of an emergency.  What I want is a small device, I'm picturing a little disc or square that can fit in my pocket and vibrate if I receive a call from 3 to 5 specific numbers.  For example if the school calls, or if he calls from his cellphone.  I can know I need to run out on my break or find a way to call from inside the building and call him or the school back.  Kind of like a call notifier for emergencies.  Maybe similar to Life Alert. I am not into electronics and have no idea how I might equip a device and make it communicate with my cellphone through possibly an app or something.  I just want this.  If this happens to be some new idea and you'd like to develop it as a company, I'd appreciate some notification, credit and cut of the profits or purchase of the intellectual property.  You'd really be doing a working mother a favor.  Otherwise create this thing and sell me one.  I will definately buy one and sell some more for ya.

These brainport things look cool. Basically they use your highly-sensitive tounge nerves to feed data into your brain. Totally safe and non-invasive, they can even allow blind people to see, which is, of course, amazing.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNkw28fz9u0I'd like one for fiddling with (eg, monitorless computer? what kind of other data can you feed into your brain? Other stuff??) But since the gizmos are like ten grand apiece... not likely! Then again, its just an array of contacts that deliver 5-20v at low amps so how hard could it be? Thoughts? Links? Circuit ideas?

Anyways, I am thinking about rigging a bright LED to the top of the windshield that comes on when I go above a certain speed. Right now all I can think of doing is like in the old movies when then make a time-bomb is drill a hole in the face of a clock (speedometer in this case) and have a wire come in contact with the speedometer when it reaches a certain speed. Need tracking device...

I have a horrible problem with keeping cirtain objects of mine within my grasp. As such, I was wondering if there was anything I could put together or attain that may help me keep track of these things. I have no knowledge of these things, so forgive me if what ii'm asking for sounds far-fetched. I'm looking for something like a small thing little beacon that could be attached to something like a shoe or book that sends out a some form of radio waves on a constant frequency, that can be picked up by the receiver that essentially lets you know how close you are by the sound it makes, whether it be through beeps or noise level. I believe things like that are out there, but i'm wondering i';f I can do anything on a really really small level, like the size of a watch battery with a piece of adhiesive on the back. Any kind of help, even just to let me no that its not possible or whatever, would be great. Thanks in advance.

How to send and receive an electrical signal?

I don't know much about radio waves and oscillator circuits , AM/FM and stuff, but I need to send just electrical signals wirelessly, without any information on it, to some other device which activates when it would detect the signals. I would prefer to make the devices myself, if it is possible, without needing to buy anything, like RF oscillators and other stuff.    I was told that whenever electricity passes through a wire, a radio wave is emitted outwards from the wire, and is emitted every time the current flow stops, starts or changes direction,  I was also told that whenever a radio wave crosses a wire, it induces a very small current in it. I don't know if whether the above information was correct or not but I think I can use it in making such a device.

12v device to switch on a 9v device (signal to switch on only)

I have a device that is switched on by a sensor, powered by 12v, 1.3amp battery. I have another device that is switched on by a mechanical push button switch, this is powered by a 9v battery. I want to piggy back on the wires that switch on the 12v device and take the signal (to turn on only) to the device that is already powered by a 9v battery and normally turned on by a push button switch. ( I want to replace this mechanical push button switch with an "electronic switch" turned on and off the the presence and absence of the 12v signal) I want the 9v device to switch on only when the 12v device switches on and switch off when the 12v device switches off. Also I want the 9v device to only run on the original 9v battery (not accepting power from the 12v device and not returning any power from the 9v device to the 12v device. Is there a switch device/relay that can do this? A device that I can just connect between the wires going from the 12v device to the 9v device? I am a novice to electronics please be kind. I an open to using part from another device, and basic mods. Thank you
