Dice-o-Matic

The Dice-o-Matic is "a 7 foot tall, 104 pound, dice-eating monster, capable of generating 1.3 million rolls a day." It was built and is used by the owner of a gaming website, who received too many complaints of insufficient randomness on his previous computer-generated dice-rolling strategies. It is true that computers cannot generate TRULY random numbers... The Dice-o-Matic, however, is exactly as random as an actual dice roll. Because it does actually roll dice! A LOT OF DICE!More info, including an awesome video of it in operation, here.

Batch/.bat Programing Answered

I would like to create a variable that is between two preset numbers but they are randomly created that runs in a batch program. For example if I wanted to create a program that would act like a dice where there is a 1/6 chance (for a 6 sided dice) of the dice landing on any number between 1 and 6.

A more efficient way to stamp paint

Hi all! I have been working on a crowd source campaign for elaborately designed dice for a while now and have a problem with my home manufacturing process...hopefully, someone can give me some ideas. I need to find a quick and efficient way to apply paint to the raised surfaces of the dice faces. You can see in the rendered pic the 3d printed file that I'll be making the mold from. I made the numbers extend out instead of going in to simplify the painting but need to get down a system of applying the paint. I was thinking some sort of stamping but thought that was only good with ink. Any input is appreciated...

How can I make my homemade 3x3 matrix show numbers like 2, 3, and 5 like the are shown on a dice?

I made a 3x3 matrix with my arduino, with transistors on the collums and the rows hooked up with wire, going to the output. I have a arduino, with 6 PWN outputs, luckily, and 14 total digital pins, and also 6 analog pins. So I need help having a 2 show up on my display, because it looks like a 4. and this is shown like it is on a standard dice. Soo... what am I doing wrong? I am just turning the collums and rows on and off to show lights and stuff. So ... help!

Can't reliably log in to instructables

I can't reliably log into instructables. This has been happening sporadically for several months now. There seems to be a bug that when I go to log in it just keeps going back to the login prompt. This usually happens a couple of times and then it lets me log in, but today I am stuck not being able to log in at all. I even tried re-entering my user name and password, but still no dice. Now that I have written this, I see that I am logged in, but when I was trying to log in on the instructables home page it indicated that i was not logged in.

Random number generator

I am looking to purchase or looking to make or looking for someone to make or show me how to make a simplistic ramdom number generator with a simple 2 digit lcd readout. This will be used as an automatic dice roller for a board game. The random numbers can be fixed to read out from 1 - 12 or even up to 24. Or, if not too difficult, programble, to make it more versatile Perhaps a prototype could be made by using some existing components such as from a digital clock or watch. Can anyone tell me if; 1. There is anything like this on the market? 2. There is an easy, inexpensive way to built something like this? Or 3. If someone would be interested in building something like this for me?

Lighting An LED With A Left/Right-Click

So I've been working on a project and have run into a snag. I'm trying to wire up a mouse to light one Led when I left-click and another when I right. For now I'm just trying to get the left working. The power that goes to the switch normally isn't enough to make the Led bright, only flicker dimly. So I thought I'd connect it to the power coming straight from the computer and just add a resistor in between. It was bright but was stuck on constantly. I've connected it every way I can think but no dice...have any ideas? RockerX

Lego Rpg or Other game

I was thinking of making a lego based rpg or some other game(like a strategy game). That will comprise of some basic rules and game workings that every one could play. I'm going to try and make it simple enough to be played easily but complex enough to keep people interested. I will also try to make sure that gaming equipment is kept to a minimum. So you don't need to go out and buy like a 100, 20 sided dice or something. If anyone is interested in helping or testing please say so. I could use all the help i could get. Please say if this is a bad idea though- i don't want to waste my time on it.

Weird glitch in "Answers"

I was surfing Instructables as a "non-member" on our new laptop today, which doesn't have many passwords installed. The Answers side bar had a older question I'd previously responded to, so I followed the link...RE: this Answer thread:https://www.instructables.com/answers/i_want_to_use_the_same_preamp_circuit_of_the_65_f/My response with the schematic links was not present (added two or three days ago.) Several browser refreshes didn't matter. But it's certainly still visible on my normal computer. I'm drafting this bug report there...Both computers are running Firefox 3.0.6. I went back and checked the laptop a second time (was shut down between) and disabled Adblock Plus (I don't ible ads on my main PC.) But no dice, still doesn't display.

Woodpigeon Stroganoff

My friend got permission from a local farmer to go shooting on his land. As a result he gave me 4 wood pigeons and a recipe. I didn't take enough pictures for a full instructable so I thought I would post it here on the forums for and foodies interested. It's delicious, tastes a little of kidney but without the pissy irony taste you sometimes get. I'd recommend cooking it until it's pink inside but no longer, it's beautifully tender when still pink and gets tougher as you cook it longer. I used double the recipe below to serve 4 people. The pigeons were quite large, I plucked the feathers from the breast to clear it then cut a slit in the skin before peeling it all back. I then slit down either side of the breast bone and stuck my thumbs in to peel out the breast. A slit at the bottom and top end should allow you to pull it free. WOODPIGEON STROGANOFF breasts of 2 woodpigeon cut into long 20mm thick strips 1/2 400gm tin of chopped tomatoes 1 medium onion sliced not diced 1 red pepper sliced not diced 1 tbsp of smoked paprika 1 oz of butter 142 ml carton of sour cream A handful of chopped parsley 1 - Gently sweat the onions and pepper in the butter for 2 minutes then add the paprika and cook until onions are soft. 2 - Increase the heat and when it starts to sizzle add the pigeon strips and fry until all sides are sealed. 3 - Add the tinned tomatoes a little at a time so the pan doesn`t cool too much then add 1/2 the soured cream a little at a time. 4 - Check the pigeon strips are cooked to the doneness you like(pink for me) then throw in the parsley stir and serve with rice and a dollop of sour cream on top.

SONY Flash Drive HELP!!!

Help!!! Today I had my flash drive with me and was working on some school projects. It worked fine in the morning. Though later I was messing with Batch and saved them to the drive root. Now when I plug it in windows waits for about a min. then says that new hardware was found. When it's done it says that the device is malfunctioned. I don't know what to do or if that batch file is even the problem. If it is I think that it changed the devices properties into making windows think it is bootable. I have plugged it into my Linux machine but still no dice. It won't even come up there. Oh, and I can't reformat it because it's in a way not there. I really need those files for school any way to get them back would be great. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Games and Random

Last night we added a new "Games" category, and brought back (and made better!) the random sorting. When we first added categories, the theory was to add new categories as they emerged. I'd say that games has pretty clearly emerged. There are great Instructables focused on video games, video game cabinets, homemade game consules, board games, card games, magic tricks, dice games, how to cheat at games, and lots of other ways to have fun. Explore the games category, and have fun. If you come across an Instructable that should be included in games, but we missed adding to the category, leave a note here.A great way to see if there are any we missed adding to games, or just to explore the site in general, is the revived sort by random. It's new every time you click it in the Explore pull-down menu, or click "Spin the Bottle" on the explore pages. I bet you'll find something cool you've never seen before. As always, let us know what you think.

DIY Projector bulb problem ?

In reading some of the instructables on DIY projector lamp replacements I decided to give it a shot. So I purchased a Proxima Ultralight LX1 off of ebay, and when it arrived it contained no previous bulb, so I purchased a MR16 style 100 watt halogen bulb and installed it (with a seperate power supply). When I started it up and connected it to my laptop it worked fine for about a minute or so (give or take) but then the image went blank (not the bulb but the LCD screens showed blackness) for five seconds, then the image popped up as nothing had ever happened. I have tried everything to prevent this, other computers, killing the ballast (which is quite easy, only one wire to disconnect) different video sources and no dice. But I do know that it has nothing to do with the light bulb because it is on a completley different power supply and is not connected electronically to the projector in any way, there is something wrong with the controls of the unit Any Help would be appreciated, Thanks Bwpatton1
