I want to slow down a electric motor on a dishwasher timer.

Motor is 115v 3w ac . With low water pressure the timer shuts off before enough water enters to wash well. Their is an over fill safety so I don't need to worry about that. I realize that this will also increase all function times but that is ok. Thank you.

Wifi Dish Umberella

I'm pretty new to the WiFi dish stuff and picked it up pretty quickly. What I wanted to know is if anyone has thought of modding an umbrella slightly to use as a dish and what might be involved. I thought of this when watching The Matrix Revolutions(again)when a dish thing comes out of one of the Sentinels.

small screw dish

I just wanted to say, if you have a broken floppy drive laying around, take it apart, get the small stepper motor out, take off the LED (bicolor if you are lucky) and contact switches, and anything else useful like a IR photogate, and chokes, desolder the huge pin headers, but after that... remove the round plate that is a part of the main spindle motor, it has a ring of magnet on the inside, it is absolutely perfect for holding small screws when you are taking apart something just felt like sharing

Drinking water safe foot pump?

I am trying to make a dishwashing station for camping, and I havn't been able to find a design for a pump that seems food-safe. The designs that I have found for DIY use petrolium jelly for a seal. I would prefer a foot pump, as most of the people that I camp with are young, short, or both. :-) Help for the DIY and physics impaired, please.

Automatic pet food dish

I want to make a pet food dish that rations out pet food at specific intervals. Something similar to this http://www.petronic.com/sixday.htm it doesn't have to be a circle, I could probably figure out how to do it with a pulley system and motor if it was straight, but I need to find a timer to trigger the motor. Does anyone know where to get a timer like that, or what I should search for. I've never built anything before, so I don't know anything, or what to search for. Thanks for any help.

Is it possible to repair chips in dishes so they can be considered microwave and dishwasher safe?

Tips to mod a single basin kitchen sink into a double-basin?

Greetings All, I have a largish single basin sink in my kitchen. I don't have a dishwasher, and I find that its easiest to do dishes with two basins - one for washing, the other for rinsing. I beleve this is also an efficient use of water and energy (to heat the water). Since I rent, I can't replace the sink itself, which is the most direct solution. I have tried using various tubs and buckets in the sink. To date I haven't found any that work well. Usually the geometry is all wrong. The bucket is either too small to be useful, or too big to fit in the sink. Or, the shape of the bucket or tub makes an awkward fit, and won't lie flat, etc etc. My dream solution would be to make a custom tub whose outer dimensions match exactly one half of the existing basin. Ideally out of pliable silicone. Is this feasible? THanks!

Is it safe to put a metal dish in a freezer? Answered

I recently bought a stainless steel mess kit. Would it be safe to use it as a freezer dish; for instance, if I were to make a lasagne in it and then freeze it? I know you're not supposed to put metal cans containing food in the fridge, so I thought I'd check. Thanks! :-)

Looking for more info on dish actuator

I received a free actuator from my friends cottage. 11 years ago it use to angle a 8ft dish. It was removed some time ago, and the label is fully off. The bottom says its a saginaw performance pak actuator, aka PPA, and it has a 24" arm. I was trying to find more information on it, and all I can find is that it can be heavy, regular, or light, 600-1,500 pounds dynamic linear. Anyone have one or any ideas? I cant find a model number on the case cuz it faded, but the motor says 7821645 or 1821645. Either way I found a tiny chart listing models but not that one.http://www.galaxy-marketing.com/images/7822260.jpgLooks similar to that one there. I just want to find out how much force it has. Most I done so far to test it works aftter 11 years of rusting on the main shaft (the moving piston is fine) is sit on a box. It manage to push me with no change in motor sound. Any more details? Please ask!

How do you clean a dish washer?

I was wondering can any one give me pointers on this? Lately our dish washer is leaving spots on our dishes, glasses and est. I figure it is a build up of minerals in the spray and drainage holes of our poor dish washer since our house water system does have hard water. Even though we regularly use things like Jet dry to supplement the dish washing there comes a time where even that is not good enough to keep away crusty minerals. We had this dish washer for years now and never have issues until now. I plan on using a product like CLR in the dish washer but I'm not sure what to do next. Do I just pour the whole bottle of the product in the machine or do you pour it in a certain place? After I do imagine that I would have to let it sit in there and then run a few cycles? What do you guys suggest? Thanks for your input.  :)

Battery powered outdoor water dish heater

I have 3 dogs who are kept outside at our Pennsylvania home.  None of the shelters are near an electric source. With winter freezing temperatures on the way, is there a way to keep their water dishes from freezing, especially overnight?   Is there a way I can use one of the electric dog dish heaters to run, say on a battery without it costing an arm and a leg (I have 3 dogs!!)??  I'd buy the dishes at a pet supply place (see site below) for about $30, but running electricity to their kennels is not possible.  Any advice? http://www.petfooddirect.com/product/15045/K&H-Thermal-Heated-Pet-Bowl;?utm_source=nextag&utm;_medium=cse

The best salmon dish youve ever had!

I made up this recipe one day and it became an instant hit with my family and my cheese-a-holic boyfreind! Its super easy but really impressive, great for dinner parties! Definitely not for those on a diet..... :) Serves 6 Rachelles Super Fantastic White Wine Poached Salmon W/Havarti Dill Cream Sauce over Herbed Rice! Sauce: 1 Lb. Harvarti w/Dill (usually sold at Safeway in the specialty cheese case in small ~half lb. blocks) 2 Pints Heavy Cream Salt&Pepper; to taste Fish: 6 Skin on Salmon filets 1 Shallot 1 clove garlic 1 Tbs olive oil 1 bottle white wine (I use Chateau St. Michelle Geswurtzraminer) Salt&Pepper; to taste Rice: 6 serving of your favorite rice (white brown, wild, minute, doesnt matter, use what you like) 1 tsp basil 1 pinch rosemary 1 pinch rubbed sage 1 tbs butter In a large shallow sauce pan, sweat the shallot and garlic on low heat in the olive oil until the shallot is soft. Salt and pepper to taste. Spread the shallots and garlic evenly across the bottom of the pan and place your fillets on top, skin side down, dont stack them! Pour the wine over the top until its covers about 3/4 of the way up the fish, cover and turn heat up a notch, medium low heat. Now just leave it alone! dont peak, dont poke, dont move your fillets around, just let them sit and cook! Depending on your stove, you may need to bump the heat up to a solid medium heat, you want it simmering, not boiling. Cook until tender 20-30 min. Now start your cream heating. Put it in a large round bottomed sauce pan and place over medium heat, stir occasionally to prevent the bottom burning.  Now start your rice so that by the time your sauce is done, your rice is too, so you can plate up immedietly and you wont have to worry about your sauce setting. Just cook your rice the same as always, only add the sage, rosemary, basil, and butter to the water so that the flavors cook into the rice While your cream is heating shred your havarti. I like to use the cheese grater attachment in my food processor because its super fast and you need top be able to watch your cream too! As soon as your cream is hot (NOT BOILING, JUST HOT) start slowly whisking in your cheese. Whisk constantly while adding about a half cup at a time, keep your heat on medium low while doing this or your sauce will break. It will take a little while to get your sauce smooth, so keep your heat low and just keep whisking until its nice and smooth. Salt and pepper to taste. Plating: Mound your herb rice in the center of your plate, spoon a little bit of the cooking liqiud from the fish over the rice then place your fillet on top. Drizzle a good dose of Your havarti dill sauce over the top and DIG IN!

Traditional food from any country of the EU Answered

For my history class project I have to prepare a small collection of traditional dishes from one of the countries of the European Union. It's important that all the dishes are from the same country of the EU. I'll have to carry it all to school, so it has to be transportable. Some salads, cakes or pies would be great for this. If the dish is well known, just tell me the name. I can find the recipe on the Internet. The original names of the dishes would be great, too.

I want to model rays of light bouncing off a parabolic dish with technical drawing, How do I do it?

Basically I want to model the sunlight as it bounces from both a parabolic and a compound parabolic dish. I want just to use technical drawing. It is no problem to model if the dish is pointed straight at the sun but I want to model the rays if the dish is NOT pointed at the sun. On a curve, I will gestimate a tangent to an arc and light bouncing off goes off it at the same angle as it hits it. NO problem it the light arrives parallel to the plane of the dish but most of it will not arrive like this. How do I do it? Just with elevation plan and sideviews and sections through the dish. Thanks Brian It is in relation tohttps://www.instructables.com/id/Compound_parabolic_dish_making_a_template_with_te/

So I'm trying to find the focal point of a satellite dish.

The dish is oval, and I am not sure if it is parabolic/spherical. Here is a picture, with measurements: http://s753.photobucket.com/albums/xx180/EternityTransfer/ I'm not too sure how this dish focuses, as it seems that vertical waves will be focussed differently to horizontal ones, due to the oval shape and that the depths are different depending on which axis is measured. I ideally want to make a parabolic microphone from this dish. There seems to be a focal point about 60cm from directly above the center of the dish, but when viewed from very off-centre angles, the dish seem to have other points too. How would I determine the "optimal" one? It is coated in a thin layer of aluminium foil, which I put on to reflect light when finding the focal point. Unfortunately there are no serial/part numbers, and the dish is missing its feed horn and support so I can't approximate the focal point form there or from datasheet(s). Any help would be greatly appreciated. EDIT: Oh and the dish originates in South Africa, and is stamped with a number which looks like a date of manufacture: 19950610. Googling the number yielded no results so its probably a date.

Looking for an indian/pakistani chickpea recipe Answered

A few years back I was invited to dinner by my neighbor, he was from Pakistan. They served a dish with chicken and chickpeas. He told me what it was called but i can´t remember the name of the dish, and I lost his email adress... I´m trying to find a recipe for it, but all I find is "Punjabi Chole" or other recipes for a more gravy-like dish...The dish they served was different, more like chickpeas and chicken in a spiced (hot) oil, not thick as gravy. Maybe one of you knows this dish and can tell me a recipe....
