My brother gave me his old Ipod Video for Christmas. Because he has a mac and I have a PC, he had to erase all the Data on it. i was cool with it, because it would've done that anyways. I just wanna know. He had my DVD of Transformers on his ipod, but he told me he used no software to get it on. I'd like to know how to do this on my XP. Also, I'm watching it right now on Windows Media Player. Can that help me?

I am wanting to be able to line up the dvds something like a carousel but would rather have them in a row so that i can make more rows to add more disc. I was thinking of using those clear plastic discs that are packed in spinals of discs but i cant even figure out what to call them so i can order bulk of them. If I cut each one in half (the clear plastic disc) then they would be good spacers. and help would be Great. Thank You In Advance. A robot arm will be doing the retrieval.

Hey everybody, I have been trying to find a free program that will allow me to put a DVD into my computer and convert the '.VOB' files into '.avi' files. If anyone can help me out by showing me a program that will do this for me, then that would be awesome. If there is no converter for '.avi', then '.wmv' would be good too. Thanks, SC-Ghost

I BOUGTH A SATA DVD WRITER. YES IT WORKS FINE BUT THE WRITING SPEED SUCKS. I MEAN IT CAN TAKE 4 MINUTES TO READ A WHOLE CD BUT BURNING IT ON ANOTHER CD TAKES ABOUT 11 MINUTES CONSIDERING I HAVE ANOTHER IDE CD WRITER WHICH TAKES ONLY 6 MINUTES FOR THE WHOLE PROCESS(COPYING AND BURNING). WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM WITH THIS SATA WRITER?

Has anyone found a way to transfer 8 or 16mm film to dvd? It can be done by shooting a video of the projected image and using video to dvd software, or just use a dvd recorder. But, is there a way to mod an old antique projector to transfer it to a dvd recorder? Sending the 20 or so films that I'd like to save to a professional would cost a fortune.

I've got a DVD camcorder (Samsung SC-DC173U), and am trying to finalize the disc so I can edit the video on it. Problem is, whenever I do what the instructions tell me in order to finalize it, a problem occurs. The "disc Finalize" option is unavailable. The manual says that the cause of this is most likely because the camcorder is low on power, but it is fully charged. Any suggestions? Need I take pictures or do anything else to help?

I'm working on repairing my 360's disk drive. When a disk is put in the drive it starts reading the disk but after awhile it goes back to open tray. The weird thing is I've put in disk cleaning cd that it will read just fine. The only problem is that it won't read any dvds or games. I'm having trouble figuring out what is going wrong with it. Any ideas would be great, I'll try them asap and get back to everyone right after testing them. EDIT: I forgot to mention that the drive is a BenQ or the Phillips LiteOn.

This lady gave me an older dvd player (Toshiba SD-2150) and she had it hooked up at her house, but the cd started skipping about half way in, and it would contiunously cut out for 10 seconds then resume playback and then cut out again and so on and so forth. As you'll see in the pictures, I've taken it apart down to the laser assembly (only took me 10 minutes incase you're wondering). The apparent problem to me is something is wrong with the gear assembly that moves the laser head. When I turn it by hand, it moves freely for about half a turn then it feels like the gear is catching on something, and if I turn it harder it keeps moving, it's not stripped, but it almost "feels" like theres a hump in the gear or something. I keep looking at the gear and nothing looks wrong with the teeth or anything! I was just going to put 3-in-1 oil on it and see how that helps and put it back together. Does anyone have any suggestions? *********UPDATE********* I tried many things with various tools I had sitting here to try and straighten out the one tooth on the gear with no success. However with the little bit of melting/bending I did and the 3-in-1 oil, I got it to catch on the gear less easily. After re-installing the optical assembly and testing it on my stereo with the cover off, it appears not to skip anymore, DVD's too. However, I'm still not confident in how long this "repair" is going to work. The best solution I think is to replace the smallest gear on the motor, but I cannot find one close enough.

Dream Box of Goodies? I have a box full of circuit boards, motors, gears, lasers, power supplies, LED displays from several VCRs and DVD players, as well as internal parts from a DirecTV DVR with Tivo (not including the hard drive). All circuit boards contain chips, resisters, capacitors, etc intact on the boards. If you have interest in this or can point me to a place where I can get some value out of this lot, please let me know. Would most like to sell all together, but will consider selling piece-by-piece. Or maybe someone could direct me as to what parts to salvage. At this point, I have removed the boards and mechanics from the the enclosures in order to save space. I have recycled the steel/plastic enclosures. I am in the Dallas, TX metropolitan area. I would appreciate any offers or constructive advice.

A few users may have heard about me speaking at a conference with some other youths to 350 people, this was the launch of a great DVD made to help teachers, counsellors, youth workers and many other people understand about bereavement from a teenager's or a child's perspective. It was a great project collaboration between Cruse Bereavement Care, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Macmillan Cancer care and Barnardos. I was on this project from the planning stage, after the grant from the Big deal lottery Fund had been approved. The project took us to the Share centre on a planning day followed by a weekend where we got all the footage for the final project. Not long after the same project took me to Westminster Abbey to speak to MP's and Lords about the state of government help and counselling for bereaved children and teenagers, that initiative was started by MP Alex Davey who was in the same position as a teenager and hopes to improve care for these things throughout the UK. The project was a great thing to do and I personally enjoyed the hoohah out of it. The end product is a great resource and I would really recommend it to any teacher or counsellor who deals with teens, it could help a lot of people, even the likes of clergymen and ministers. I'm not just saying this because I'm in it but that surely helps, it was received really well by everyone at the conference which broached many topics and had a lot of interesting material at it. We also did another youth panel though this time we were asked set questions about the project rather than the audience be able to ask. The DVD should be available from cruse soon, I honestly do think it's worthwhile...Some press about the launch... Medicalnewstoday.comPress release[

We have a huge selection of old videocassete tapes from home movies, TV recordings, and feature films that we want to archive onto DVD. I have the software to edit and burn the DVDs, but no way to get it onto the computer. I have a Lenovo 3000 J series, with 1 GB RAM, an AMD Athalon X2 64 2.01 GHz dual core processor, a 250 GB hard drive, and a dual-layer DVD/CD burner. nVidia GeForce 6100 built-in video card. My VCR has only RCA-composite video, but S-Video is possible through an old high-quality VHS camera. Would I need to get a new video card, or just a converter for RCA-USB? Low-budget recommendations would be appreciated.

Hi Everyone! I've gotten lots of great response to the info that I posted on Instructables about my electric motorcycle! https://www.instructables.com/id/Build-Your-Own-ELECTRIC-MOTORCYCLE/ Many people have asked for additional information on the project and how they can build their own. As such, I created an instructional training DVD set that takes you through, step-by-detailed-step, what it takes to build your own electric motorcycle. I gots a question, I have this Panasonic X410 dvd player, it's a real nice unit for 1999, and makes a real nice big single disc cd player..but on my stereo when I play music, it keeps lighting up the peak indicator on my reciever, which probably isn't too good to do that often. I wanted to know if there was a way to "tune" this thing down a bit as far as the line level outputs, but there's not onscreen volume control that I can find. Also, I'm fairly pertubed as to why there's two sets of video rca outputs and two sets of the audio jacks, respectivly, set side beside each other. There's no specific labeling of their function other than just video and audio out, not video 2 or nothing and I don't remember any mentioning of in the manual a few years back when I still had it. This unit has a nice 10 bit video dac with a 24 bit audio decoder (96khz something), I really want to hear what the fibre optic on it sounds like, but hey I can't afford a $3,000 amplifier right now, does anyone know of any kind if "converter" or way I could install a fibre optic board I can get my hands on into my surround sound unit I have now. Ideas ideas, I guess I have spring fever eh?
