Combining (Rewiring) Earphones Together

Hello! I'm having trouble rewiring my Ipod earphones. Currently I have two sets of nonworking earphones. One is an Ipod 3rd generation earphones. Pretty standard, ones you can find anywhere. The earbuds are completely busted on this one, and thus it does not work. The second one is Iphone earphones, and thus has a little mic component along the right earphone cord. This one, the bottom jack is completely busted. What I want to do this cut and combine the bottom 1 inch (including the jack) of my ipod earphone with my Iphone earphones. I understand this will render the mic capability useless. The ipod earphones have 4 wires inside, yellow, red, green, and red/green. The iphone ones have 6 wires. green, blue, yellow, red, red/yellow, and another yellow. How do I match these up to work? Thank you so much in advance!

Voice-cancelling earphones or headphones

Many brands compete with noise-cancelling technology, but all offerings seem tuned to mitigate frequencies other than voices.  I appreciate that on an airplane or gun range, but in an open office plan, the only common attempt at mitigating vocal pollution is to add white noise variants.  White noise systems have limited effectiveness and alleged health drawbacks.  My noise cancelling headphones cut the white noise, effectively enhancing voices that I want to shut out.  I can use "sound-isolation" instead of "noise-cancellation" but they are bulky and hot.  I'd think it would be possible to use noise-cancellation technology to target vocal frequencies.  Thoughts?

Broken Headphones Oh Noes

Hey, what's up everyone, I'm new.  Hopefully I'm not breaking any rules. So I'm sure you've gotten tons of these already, but, I have a pair of broken earphones.  Two pairs actually.  On both, the right side is broken (as in, no sound). I took them apart and found that on one of them the coating of the wire seems to have melted or something (there was sticky black stuff all over the inside), and on the other the diaphragm thingy is detached. So at first I thought there were frayed wires somewhere, but the electromagnets on both still work (I tested them with a piece of metal, the attraction was still really strong), so I figured that there must be something wrong with the diaphragm (what are those things called?  the plastic cone thingies?). My question is:  Is there a way to test the diaphragm thing, and if that's the problem, is it fixable? Thanks very much in advance.

Sennheiser audio question?

So I've owned a pair of Sennheiser HD555's for about 4 years now and while they haven't broken in any way, I'm looking to buy another pair of Sennheisers that are more portable than the HD555's (10 ft. cable and bulky 1/4 inch jack + open design -_-)   I've been considering 2 choices in the Sennheiser 400 series.  The HD439's and the HD449's While I know they are both very similar, there are big differences in my opinion.   HD 439's: I really like the detachable cable on these, and I've always been in love with the cloth ear pads from my 555's, so i know these would be super comfortable.  Also these present a bit more bass than the others in the 400 series, which i don't know if I'll enjoy, because I really only have the HD 555's to compare audio quality to. HD449's: These headphones are apparently a bit more powerful than the 439's because of stronger magnets in their monitors, which is a plus because I mostly listen to music on my laptop, phone, or zune (YES I SAID IT AND I SAID IT PROUD--ZUNE).  Also I'v e heard that they have a better range of sound quality not just regarding the bass and treble.  The one thing that scares me to death about these cans is the pleather or "leatherette" material for the ear pads.  While i know that these are better at blocking outside noise, I can't help but feel like they'd be very uncomfortable.  The only other cans i've used with the pleather are the Bose AE2's, so one question is how do they compare? also to beats leather pads? In general, I listen to a broad range of music from classical to rap to indie rock.  Pretty much anything but country.  I like to have a bit more bass and high tones than mid, but not too much.  For this reason, I think the HD439's would be better in regards to sound quality and better design/comfort.  The only thing that keeps me looking back at the 449's is the offer of more powerful magnets and better sound when playing from a mobile device or something with a low power output.  I also really like the fact that even if i do like lows and highs better, I can always put an equalizer on the HD'449's to tailor their more balanced sound to my wants.  But I'm still afraid of the comfort the 449's offer compared to the cloth pads of the 439's.   Again I own a pair of Sennheiser HD55's and love their sound quality and comfort.  I also own a pair of AKG K181DJ series, but those are mostly for listening to house, dubstep, and drub&bass.;  I've owned the Bose AE2 (second edition) and have used beats studio for a time.  These are really all of my reference points for sound quality and comfort. Anyways, I digress.  I'm very torn between the two and I've given all of the info I can.  Any suggestions/ratings/opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Want to convert TV audio to headphone or speaker. What impedance transformer ratio is reasonable ?

Present speaker is 14 ohm. I tried a 1000 ohm to 16 ohm, it cut output to speaker by 75%. Thinking I need 1:1 transformer and probably impedance is not critical as long as it is 50 ohms or less. I will be switching between earphones or speaker. No fidelity requirements.

How do I convert a pair of aeroplane headphones to be used with a normal 3.5mm jack? Answered

The pair of headphones are from QANTAS business class. They have 3 prongs: 2 x 3.5mm and one 2.5mm The two 3.5mm prongs are for left and right sound but the 2.5mm is (i think) for power for the headphones and the noise cancelling ability. I'm not sure how to incorporate the 2.5mm prong into a normal jack or whether it's even possible. I want to use these on an mp3 player or if the power needed is too big then on a laptop. Your help or ideas is appreciated! Cheers, Tal

How do you remove that static noise on your computer when you plug in your earphones?

Well, whenever I plug in my earphones to either my laptop or my desktop, I would hear static noise. Rather, on my second desktop's amplifier I've hear little or mostly no static at all (from a sound card, through a audio plug to RCA into the amplifier) and as well seems to be little suppressed using a toroid band on the plug of the earphones. Through little research, I've found out its the grounded prong fault, where different resistance causes this noises. So, without either doing A) REMOVE THE GROUNDED PONG or B) Grounded loop isolator, unless I could find a cheap one, how would I stop this problem? Snowy *Updated: No, muting it will defeated the purpose of having music on*

Creative repurposing old earbuds?

Good day all, I have four pairs of old earphones that I could like to creatively repurpose.  All pairs are functional and all are Nokia branded.  I received these earphones over the ages along with cellphones.  Their connectors however have proprietary jacks, not even the same types, with one having a 3.5 mm jack, they also include mics for answering calls. Thoughts I had so far:  trying to create a dock/speaker box using it all simultaneously - concern, will probably be soft. Any advice? Thanks! Xaveos

how to wire an earphone jack from my bose radio to a speaker 50' away.?

My bose radio does not have an outlet for any speakers I might have. Bose said the only way I could activate a speaker 50' away in the basement is to use a headphone jack wire that is plugged into the Bose. It should transmit juice to the speaker to transfer the sound. I have a breathaudio speaker  with two sets of red and black spring loaded terminal posts. When the jack goes into the Bose radio it naturally cuts the sound from the Bose radio itself and that's fine. I just want the juice from the jack to go to the speaker in the basement to enjoy. Is this possible? I'm working with very fine headphone wires from the jack wire itself to transfer power to the speaker via speaker wires that will attach to one set or both sets of the black and red spring loaded terminals on the speaker. How can I get from HDTV optical digital to analog volume controlled earphones??

My Toshiba HDTV has only one audio output, Digital Optical. I am hard of hearing and need to use earphones with volume control to listen while others are in the room. I believe a small, single purpose audio amp with digital, optical input and maximum volume analog output would do the job. No one builds such a device. The ones available have multiple options and resulting high price. I know how to read, BUT NOT DESIGN, circuits. I would prefer a design that would work off of a standard available "wall wart"/ Can anyone provide such schematic?

Wireless FM microphone real time voice/play transmitter

Hello I am looking to buy/build a small FM wireless transmitter with built in microphone (similar to karaoke but not exactly ) to transfer voice or sound  from playing  musical instrument  to earphone. It is meant only for practice purpose so does not need  high power, the distance between the microphone (the transmitter ) to earphone  is like from mouth to ear a few centimeters say about  50 cm. I am electronic junior engineer and have knowledge and experience in electronics mechanics and wave buy. Before trying to develop a new product  I was looking for a readymade shelf product. The first way I have searched the internet and reached manufacturer of Bluetooth solutions because of the plenty of Bluetooth earphone that are on the market, but quit a short time after I got some answers from the the Techs engineers  of the manufacturers that Bluetooth will not be my solution because It was not originally designed for true real time transmitting. The main problem is the latency time because there is a delay between the voice or play start until I hear it in the earphone there is improved in Bluetooth 4.1 and 4.2 that is 38 MS and may be not enough while fast playing, So as I was advised I started looking in the RF FM area. FM transmitters are long time in the market of stages and performers, there are high power grate quality transmitters that cost hundreds of dollars. Here is the summary of what I need :        I will need the smallest device (PCB) can be like FM spy bug transmitter. built in microphone (on the PCB ) , built in battery compartment (on the PCB ),built in antenna a copper loop on the PCB (no wire) Since there may be some problems like saturation of microphone or other problems with band width or  sound and sensitivity, sensitivity and control for the Microphone is important. Easy calibration of  tuning and stability , may be digital tuning is better. One option is to use the standard of radio FM 88-108 , but it possible that I can use FM VHF or UHF system that have both transmitter and receiver . If there are no ready made products thatn I can easy build a kit , or from schematic diagrams I will be thank full if you have any ideas. Nevat Ben Haim Recomp Computers
