What's on your feet?

Nowadays shoes are one of the most important things you can buy. Shoes tell about your personality, your stereotype (if you are stereotyped), and how much money you are willing to spend for a nice pair of sneaks. Just post what kind of shoes your wearing and if you want the price. I am currently wearing two pairs, not at once though. Vans Classic Slip Ons (Black and White Checkered), and Draven Samurai Tattoo. Pics below. Sardines454

Pelt curing: how to preserve the ears and feet of a hare or rabbit? Answered

Yesterday got a hare from roadkill. (It is stewing right now). I want to try to do an attempt at taxidermy. I got the pelt off intact, except the lower part of the legs, and I still have to do the head. I was thinking of just letting the legs dry: Quite tedious to take the skin off, and hardly any meat on it. Can I do this, and can I just let the ears dry?

Shoes with toes?

So, i saw a post on a blog i watch about these shoes with toes.. like toe socks but shoes for running or w/e outdoor sport you do. I looked them up and it looks like someone got some of that liquid rubber stuff from home Depot and coated a set of toe socks with it and called them shoes. Does anybody know if it would be easy to make something like these shoes for under $75?The link below is the official site for these shoes. I have yet to find any other company that makes anything like it. http://www.vibramfivefingers.com/

I am trying to make a large array of leds, about 24 inches wide and 14 inches tall. I assume making  a PCB this size would be rather expensive but is there somewhere I can buy perfboard this large, or another alternative for making an array of leds this size? Thank you, Chris

How to carry 80 feet of PVC on a bike

We needed 80 feet of 3/4" PVC from the local hardware store. Since it's pretty much impossible to park near it and the nearest available car was a couple miles away anyway we decided to carry it by bike. All we used was a couple pieces of inner tube and Brian's Xtracycle. I bet I could've pulled this off on another bike I've recently adopted, but we wanted to be safe. Speaking of safe, this rode pretty well, but the left turns were a little touchy as the front wheel would rub against the PVC. Good thing I was only going a few blocks. Along the way guy in the street told us that that was how the Vietcong would attack them. "They used to strap missiles to bikes! Heheh. Yeah, they kept getting us."

How to produce 14,000 cubic feet of hydrogen? Answered

Okay, here is the deal. Me and a friend where thinking about filling two weather balloons( http://www.ebay.com/itm/GIANT-Weather-Balloon-Meteorological-Military-8-Dia-/330626487344?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4cfadfd430) with a lifting gas, sending it up with a camera and gps-cellphone. Now, we have everything else figured out but how to get hydrogen, as it is the lightest gas. Is there any way to produce those quantities of hydrogen within a 6-36 hours? I figure I'd ask here because there are quite a few hydrogen powered vehicles here.

What animal eats the body and leaves the head and feet? Answered

This morning there was the remains of a rat in my yard, The head, gallbladder, and 3 feet were in a little pile and the body had apparently been eaten.  Anyone know what animal does this?  I live in Fort Worth, Texas and we have rats, crows, possums, raccoons, coyotes, domestic cats, snakes, and mink in our area.  I know of several predators that will eat the heads and leave the bodies, but this one has me stumped.

Alcohol stove flames are 2 feet tall any ideas?

I built a pressurized jet alcohol stove and when I light it with no pot stand or windscreen, the jet flames are 2" tall. I add a windscreen and pot and soon I have a 2 foot tall blaze.  I tried taking off the wind screen and I still get tall flames. I am using red HEET, but I am not sure that the fuel makes a big difference. I hypothesize that the reflective heat from the windscreen and pot are making the stove heat up and vaporize the alcohol faster. I tried putting holes in the wind screen and I still get big flames! I want a safe backpacking stove and I'm sure others have had this problem-- any thoughts on why it is so dangerous?

How big should a water bottle rocket's parachute be?

I'm using a 2-liter bottle. Some of the sites I see tell you to make it really big, 3 feet, while say that you should make it about 1 foot in diameter, so it doesn't float too far away.

I'm looking for a high volume, small size air compressor but I can't find a good one. What do you guys recommend? Answered

I need an air compressor that has an EXTREMELY high CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) rating. It is for an air-powered exoskeleton (crazy idea, I know). It needs to be pretty small, backpack sized if possible, It doesn't need that big of an air chamber (fire-extinguisher sized). Continuous run is a must. Powering it shouldn't be a problem because I will be carrying ~ 30 pounds of Li-ion batteries for running the compressor. I also won't be needing more then ~ 100PSI. Weight is an almost non issue, I wouldn't mind a 20 pound compressor, I'll probably remove the frame anyway, so that will take away some weight.

Wanting to dye orange-wheat work boots black but not sure what material they're made of

They look like knock off Timberlands or those typical construction work boots. They're not a brand I've heard of (ShoeVibe "Tan Fly Ankle Boot") so I'm having a hard time even finding the manufacturer online and only finding out of stock retail options. It's definitely not leather and it doesn't appear to be faux suede. The description on a site I found said "man made" upper and lining. I'm basically just wondering if I could use black shoe polish to dye them or if I need to actually dig deeper into this material thing and get shoe dye.

Issues and safety precautions to take with a 50-70 feet 12v bus line?

Hi  i am thinking of building a emergency LED setup with some 1w or 3w LEDs which will be connected to a 12v bus line powered from a deep cycle battery. I will be using a fuse between the battery and the bus line. I am thinking of placing a cluster of LEDs every few feet(7-10 feet). Each LED will be powerd using a mr16 LED driver using power from the bus line and the driver should consume somewhere around 350ma of current. Each LED will be mounted on a heatsink. Max LEDs in a LED cluster will be 3 no.s . Total current used when all the LEDs are on should be around 6 amps max. So, the question is, what kind of safety issues should i look out for and what type of wire i should use for bus line and the lines to leds. Also, should i be using relays for LEDs or will switches be fine? And what precautions should i take  ?

Oodammo Pistol Contest

This is the contest me and TD were/are organizing. LOADING                                                                                                        MeZak: 4/5. Very, very quick. OodAst3.6: 4/5. Not quite as quick as the MeZak, but it makes up for it in comfort. TBOS: 1/5. Truly agonizing. EAP: 3/5. Not bad. Tougher and more time consuming than the OodAst and MeZak, but much better than the TBOS. STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY / DURABILITY                                                   (Note, I'm rating according to how "Bendy" they feel.) MeZak: 4/5. Really sturdy. Barely any bend. OodAst: 4/5. Really sturdy, but again, just barely less sturdy than the MeZak. But not so much as to lower it a whole point. TBOS: 2/5. Only 3 layers. Bendy, bendy, bendy. EAP: 4/5. 5 layers, so it's obviously pretty good. RANGE                                                                                                             (The first range is with 2 #64's, the second is with the maximum amount. Measurement was averaged out of 5 shots. I used Google Earth, but I promise I didn't cheat.) MeZak: 4/5. 39 feet. 63 feet. (Max. of 6 bands.) OodAst. 3/5. 44 feet. 52 feet. (Max. of 4 bands.) TBOS. 3/5. 41 feet. 41 feet. (Max. of 2 bands.) EAP: 2.5/5. 37 feet. 37 feet. (Max. of 2 bands.) FINAL SCORES                                                                                              MeZak: 12/15. #1 OodAst: 11/15. #2 TBOS: 6/15. #4 Ouch EAP: 9.5/15. #3 So, congrats MeZak, you win. (Though, I'd like to point out, this is based pretty much entirely on performance, not personal opinion.)
