push fit Plumbing Fittings

Shark bite, proline, etc.    They seem to work fine in places that have plenty of room... the sort of places that I'd have no trouble with a solder fitting. But in locations that I almost have to work by braille, places so tight that getting a torch in is nearly impossible, the places that an $8 press fit elbow seems suited for,  in those locations, the press fittings  leak like seives!  Then the release tool wont release the fitting, and it is a huge headache to tear apart. Do they leak if pushed in too far?  if slightly out of alignment?  and if one is in a location where precise alignment isnt gonna happen, Then what to do?

The best fitness plans?

Hey, ive been researching a lot of different fitness trends and exercises, and i was looking on how to combine them into a fitness schedule. I prefer bodyweight exercises with minimal equipment (jogging, planks, push-ups, etc.). i am fairly fit as it is, but like i said i need a plan. I go for 3km jogs twice daily, and every 3 days i do over 100 push-ups.

jewelry box fittings

I am making my daughter a wooden jewelry box and want to spiff it up with brass fittings - corners, edges, etc. I can't find a supplier. All local stores have cabinet fittings ( drawer pulls, hinges, etc.). Any suggestions? If I bought thin brass sheets would I need special tools to make my own fittings? i want nice sharp 90 degree angles and curved edges.

Snap-fit design

Hello all, The left panel in the image I have uploaded represents aluminium frame, 1mm thick. What I would like to do is design another aluminium or plastic piece that can snap into the inside of this frame (something like the right panel in the image). The frame, once positioned in, would be a permanent fixture. I have looked at different kind of snap-fit joints but I'm not sure on what's the most appropriate design in terms of simplicity and functionality. Another issue is calculating the actual dimensions of the snap-fit joints. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

How do I get past a weight loss plateau?

I started in January and lost about 20 lbs. I count calories (between 1500-1700 per day) and I exercise everyday for and hour or more. I also take my dogs out for a walk every day for about an hour. I stopped losing weight or getting thinner about a month ago. So then I tried kicking up my workout but there's only so much I can do. I don't have all day to dedicate to working out. I don't want to eat less calories or it won't be enough. Also it's pretty depressing to eat healthy food all the time and workout everyday without any results. Do I just have to accept my body at this point? I weigh 143 lbs. now. I'm only 5'2" I have a very curvy but also very muscular frame. I wear a size 9/10 jeans. I'd like to weigh like 135 if possible, which I don't think is unrealistic. UGH! it's very frustrating!

DIY Pilates Machine (sort of)

Hi,I was just wondering if anyone could offer me some advice or pointers, it would be very much appreciated.I love doing pilates. I used to so it a lot when I was a student but now I travel a lot and the machine (this sort of thing https://youtu.be/m-CtD9Km1aM )is just too bulky to set up and put away.So I’ve been looking at alternatives, either something smaller and more portable or an alternative that would do the same thing. I found this https://youtu.be/CjFY1NjhJrg but unfortunately it isn’t sold in the UK. Shipping a heavy item, paying the customs charge and then if anything breaks I won’t be able to get it repaired. So I am now trying to build something myself. I was thinking something along the lines of a skateboard or hoverboard with resistance bands clipped on. I was just wondering if anyone has any thoughts, suggestions or alternatives as I’d really love to hear them.Thank you.

Will this GPU fit in my computer? Answered

As recently as January I've bought a new GPU for my HP Pavilion Slimline (2009). It works great (AMD Radeon 7750) however, my PC is coming up with problems here and there. If I however choose to change computers, I saw this one that has decent performance, but the GPU is terrible. It's a low profile but doesn't do well on BF3. On my current computer and GPU I'm able to run BF3 on Medium graphics perfectly no lag at all. I would guess maybe 40FPS. So my question is, if I were to buy the HPE H8 1360T desktop pc, would my AMD Radon HD 7750 GPU fit in the HPE H81360T? The Radeon came with 2 different holders for the back and I used the smaller one, but would the larger one fit? I measured it as about 4.75 inches. If it's too small, are there any custom fittings to make it fit? Would my GPU be compatible with that PC? Thanks! (Im buying it from shopping.hp.com too for about $720)

Shorten the lead on a light fitting.

I bought this ceiling light: http://www.diy.com/departments/colours-cantemir-ceiling-light/234751_BQ.prd As you can see from the picture, it seems to fit fairly snug to the ceiling. However, when I got it home I found that the cable length was slightly more than a metre! I mean, who has ceilings that high? Anyway, I thought it would be no problem just to cut the cable down and refit it into the ceiling rose. My wife pointed out that the instructions say, "Caution! The length of the cable cannot be altered." The fitting has 4 x led bulbs. Can anyone tell me if there could be a problem if I shorten the lead? Frankly, otherwise I will take it back for a refund.

air tube fitting (seal)

Greetings, I need to pass an air tube (1/8 or 1/4") through a plastic soda bottle (or milk jug) and need to seal the penetration point with some type of rubber gasket -- that the air tube will pass through the center. note: been looking all day. I think I might not be searching on the correct word. I've seen these silly things, but can't seem to locate one today. They are like little rubber donuts with a slit around the center (for wall of jug)

What doesn't it fit here?

Hi everyone;  I wrote an instructable last week and I tought it could get featured. However, the instructable didn't get featured. I think the project is a good and original idea but I don't know what I did wrong. I checked the Featuring Checklist and I should have at least a featured in channel level. Maybe I'm forgetting something, so thats why I'm asking for help here. The instructable im talking about is Ghost Lamp. I'm not looking for a homepage featured, because it must be an epic one, but at least a channel or category featured. Should I may change the intro image? Did I write poor instructions? Is my English so awful?   So much thanks to all constructive responses.

The shapes of the handles look quite complicated on some models. Anyone like to have a go at designing and making some? Paul W.

tap and die do not fit together

Hi...this is also posted in the "community" forum, sorry for the duplication. For the bolt/nuts I have that are cross threaded or damaged I bought a tap/die set. Then I dropped it on the floor and it's all jumbled up. And the sizes on the taps/dies are very small....hard to see. So I thought I'd match them up by fitting them together but none of them fit together (die/tap). I'm curious, shouldn't they fit together?

Building boxes to fit existing doors

I have about five Tasmanian Oak cupboard doors and they are an odd size (W:490cm x H:575cm). I want to use some of them on low-hung overhead cupboards in the kitchen. They have a board insert with a plan board on top and sides. They would look good, I think, just lightly stained and sealed or painted white in the farmhouse style. Problem is, because they are not a standard size and I cannot by stock cupboards to fit. I thought I could buy mdf or pine boxes to attach them to but the odd size makes this difficult too. So then I thought - I will have to build them myself. As I am a total novice, does anyone know how I can do this, tactically and in the most economic way? Thank you in advance ...

What amp would fit these speakers?

I'm looking to buy an amp to hook some speakers up to but I don't know the specifics of what I should be looking for. I'd like to get it from a store and know what to get ahead of time. The speakers are two combo woofers/tweeters and rated at 200w peak power and 4ohms. How many watts should the amp be? The amp needs to take bare red/black water, have a 3.5mm line in, and plug into the wall. This isn't going to be part of a big home theater system, just a little unit so what would be a good cost of a low end amp? Thanks for the help.

American light fittings, working in a UK house

Im fitting 2 external light fittings purchased in the US in a UK house. The fitting have an inbuilt PIR sensor.  Most fittings of this type here are designed to be wired straight into mains voltage but given this has a built in PIR sensor could that cause problems on the fitting working in the UK? US mains voltage is 110-120v @60Hz UK is 240v @ 50Hz Im trying to find the best option to ensure they work so would 2 such fittings still work on UK current if wired in series with a 150w DC output transformer when they run 2 60w bulbs or Is there some other solution I am not thinking of ?

Help fitting a low voltage indicator into this circuit?

Hello,I know very little about circuits and electrical components, so please be kind.Attached is a picture of a simple circuit. "A" is a 4,5V AAA alkaline pack, "B" is a latching pushbutton switch and "C" is a nicrome wire.In the simplest and cheapest way possible, this circuit needs to alert the user if the battery pack goes below 3V. The indication signal needs to be a "beep", just like a 9V fire detector. (I can't have a LED signal). After some googling, I found that a 3V "low signal relay" could be one option. I prefer to use wires, and not a PCB in my circuit. My questions follow below:1. Is a low signal relay this the cheapest and simplest way, or are there others?2. What components do I need to achive the "beep" and where in the circuit do these components go?3. Will these components draw any power in standby mode, or do they only consume some power when the "beep" goes off? Because if they draw power continuously, I will need to add an extra (coin cell?) battery, as I need to save my alkaline pack for the nichrome wire. The extra battery shoud last for min 3 years. All help highly appreciated.Thanks!/Karolina

"Steps" in instructables don't fit my needs

I am writting and instructable which will be rather long (5 hours of works to make the "thing", about 20 photos to document everythings). I like very much the "steps" because PART of the instructables fit really well in them, basically it's good for telling "do that, then do that, then that". BUT, often between steps you have things that are not steps, in my case there is : -Introduction (how I've found the idea, skills and knoledge involved, ...) -Discusison about why I do what I do in the steps (when I tryed 4 differents solutions, I want to include the discussion so people learn, but in the "step" I'd just want to put what must be done, not the things which did not work. So, what I'd like to write my instructables is : -Chapters will allow to put texte about the project, but not about how to do it (introduction, discussions, sourcing the parts / material, references, links to other instructables, ...), chapter would have their own comments and pictures. -Chapters would zero or one "Working Sessions", which correspond to a set of step one should do in a row (same tools involved, same place, no need for things to dry, ...). They would include a name, an optionnal "time definition" to tell how long / when the included steps are made ("days one", "days two", "after glue has dryed", "once the plant has grown more than an inch", ...), and a "preparment" part (including the needed tools / material for the steps, things to check for security, ...), and, of course, one to any number of steps. -Steps would only tell "how to DO the thing", no discussion. They would include comments (for help on how to do this particular step), and pictures. It would be very fine grained. As an example, you would have 'step 1 : cute the tube, step 2, sand the edges of the tube", and you could have one photo for each of those steps. Actual steps are more like "step 1 : introduction (nothing to do), step 2 : "cute the tube in pieces, sand them, and glue them together" (thought other people may make 3 different step for those three actions). -A special view (aviable only to registered users ?) would present only the "working sessions" with their steps, so you can have "full view" (with blabla) when you read about the instructable, but only the needed tools / part / time and steps when you are actually doing your new BMW Z3 Mario Kart Mod'. Also, I'd like to be able to refer "working session" or "chapters". If i write an instructable about making a mushroom shaped led lamp, maybe I'll want to write all the part about doing the mushroom and puting the leds in them, and then say "no make the power supply and put the resistors as describbed in XXXXX". Of course, the "XXXX" (chapter of working set) is not part of my instructables, but would be included when I select the "working sessions view". Mmm... I am a Domain Analyst, I work with computers and all... I Hope what I just took the time to write makes sense and don't bother everybody :-$

I want to make a free-standing frame for a TRX/gymastics rings type system.

I don't think I can drill holes into my walls in my apartment to attach them to, so I thought a free-standing frame would be a good solution, but I can't find plans or prototypes anywhere! Ideas? I would be open to other ideas that didn't involve a frame, as long as they didn't require me to drill holes into walls or rely on possibly unstable studs in an old building.  I'd like something that wasn't in a door frame, but if its easy to use and put up and take down, I'm in.

What is the best multivitamin for men to take?

Hello community, I am banging my head against the wall trying to figure out which men's multivitamin is the best for me to take. The more research I do , the more complicated things get. I read that multivitamins in pill form are the worst because of extremely low absorption rates (As low as 10%). Do capsules offer a high enough absorption rate or should I go with a liquid or spray? Spray multivitamins seem to be all the rage right now claiming an absorption rate of 90% and higher. The next problem is finding something with natural ingredients. I keep hearing about how synthetic vitamins can cause more harm to your body than good. One article said that natural vitamin A fights cancer while synthetic vitamin A isn't even suitable for a dog. To complicate things further, there are 20 other similar factors that make finding the best multivitamin very difficult. How do I tell if all the ingredients are in natural form? I just want to make sure that I am taking something that is healthy and good for my body. Does anyone have a good multivitamin recommendation for men (age 32)?
