Five more to go!

Rachel recently moved all of the guides I've written out of my account and into Instructables Guides and now I have an accurate count of my total Instructables: 95. Which means I'm just five shy of a full 100. Number 96 should go up tomorrow. I have plenty more ideas to do and even a few that just need to be written up, but if anyone has any suggestions for a 100th Instructable, I'm willing to hear it.

Next week: 5 Instructables in 5 days

I have a backlog of Instructables that I need to clear out of my office and my brain. All of which are only an hour or two away from completion, not including the write-up. One has been waiting to be completed for over a year now and all it needs is a little tape and hot glue! It's reached the tipping point. No, that already tipped and fell all over me and I've been pretending not to notice as I wade to and from my office chair. My self-imposed deadline is for next week. My goal is to publish one a day Monday through Friday. I figure that that will make me finish them once and for all and get started on the next batch of projects that I've been meaning to do. The list is getting long. So... who's with me? Anyone else have some projects that are thisclose to being finished? You don't need to do one each day, but maybe just one or two.

Electronics for five year olds?!

Hi everyone, I joined the forum and became a member because I'm getting rather starved for ideas... A community centre (or center as you spell it south of the boarder) asked me to design/ come up with some drop in classes for children and their care givers. Some kids could be as young as five, and they want the class to have an electronics, hackery, tech based focus. I've done this with 12-17 year old, but this 5 year old thing is throwing me for a loop. I'm thinking about joule thieves and home made robots, but does anyone else know of a project that's gone over really well with young kids they can share at all? I'm not sure if this is in the right category, apologies if it isn't.

DarkOwlKnex's Project Update Five

As of late, I have been modding Bijou, my magical rifle, and making Short Deluxe Extended Playtime Albums for certain characters.   (You can see the four original Homestuck Kids' soundtracks here.  Don't fret, you don't have to be a fan of Homestuck to enjoy the albums; in my opinion, it's good music, and as the albums are based on a certain character, they are based on a theme to some extent.) (There is going to be soundtracks for the ponies from My Little Pony; Dr. Richtofen and I have been collaborating on what songs to pick.) In addition to those two things, I have been working on a new pistol, that I'm going to call Insight.  It is a super compact pistol that is different from all others because of one thing: it has a tubular magazine.  To my knowledge, it's the most compact tubular magazine gun to date.  The pictures show the gun and how to load it. Insight also: Shoots green rods. (A downside for some, but a pro for others). Uses a red rod sized firing pin. Has a comfortable handle. Can hold up to five bullets at a time. Gets about 25 feet as of now.  (This is just the pre-beta version, so I will keep modding it until it goes farther) Requires no cut pieces. (Nor do any of my posted guns, come to think of it.) And... Yes, the gun has a theme song: Insight by Joy Division. That's pretty much it. DarkOwl Out...    ,     ,  (O,O) <(IIIII)>    I    I

School supply sword!

Well, I'm thinking of posting another I'ble. This time it will be a fully functioning sword ( well, it is low quality, but you can get it to work ) made from school supplies I found at the bookstore. This is sort of like Pat sower's binder knife I'ble, where you can turn a school item into a weapon. ( But unlike that, the blade will be that long, metal yardstick ( sharpened ) ). It turned out pretty cool, and is pretty good for a weapon I make with school supplies, and is actually the only weapon made from school supplies I kept with me and not throw away after use. I managed to slice a watermelon in two with this, and I thought: Hey, this ain't bad for a weapon you make at school! In fact it rules! So, is anybody interested in building a fully-functional sword out of school supplies? P.S: I know that it's low quality, but considering you can make it for about an hour or less with supplies that only cost you 5 $, this is pretty cool.

What would you do with eighty-five pencils? Answered

Found a big bag of pencils in all sorts of colors at the thrift store, and I know I have to do something with them - I'm just not sure what. They're about 1/3 standard pencil-yellow; 1/3 standard pencil-orange; and 1/3 a full rainbow spectrum of other colors, including glitter effects and multicolor patterns. Lengths vary: 28 are unsharpened & 7" long, there are 24 at 6" or more, 10 at 5"- 6", 15 3"-5" and 8 sub-3" stubs. My only ideas so far are a pencil box made of pencils (not completely lame), and a miniature log cabin with a stockade fence (totally completely lame). There have got to be some better ideas than those two - anyone able to help me out of my creative quandry?

Five to ten 10MM LED require what power supply?

I am planning on making a LED reading light for my nephew, but I'm not sure what kind of power supply would be needed, or how long it would last. I have bought plenty of 10mm LED's and I'm planning on using one or two per light points, with there being five light points in an 8x11 inch space. What kind of power supply would I need for these? I was thinking of going with AA batteries, since they're readily available, but I'm not sure if I'd need one or four (put into one of those cheap battery holders, I think they're setup in series.) Also, is there a way to do it without resisters, or would resisters be required, no matter what? Thanks for any assistance! The Atomic Soul

will putting five volt regulators in parallel reduce the strain on them?

I'm using a peltier plate and some CPU fans to make a micro fridge for my car. for testing purposes, I'm going to need a pretty beefy power supply. because the plate draws four watts at twelve volts, I need a supply that can push out around three and a half to four amps. however, I don't want to go out and buy something, because I have a very limited amount of money. what I do have, however, is a large amount of leftover twelve volt regulators from an earlier project, rated to work with up to one amp. will connecting several of these in parallel (maybe five of them, just to be sure) be enough to reduce a thirteen and a half volt power supply with 3.9 amps of current to twelve volts? this is the closest I can get to a twelve volt supply with the materials I have, and I already have a heatsink for the regulators (I tore apart a dead computer power supply).

Is it possible to adapt a domestic Aircon unit to feed five dog kennels,

I have been asked to supply cool air to five kennels, adobe built, in a row.  I am proposing to Build a funnel box around the inside unit to feed air through pipping (drainage/plumbing) to the individual units. The engineer/salesman has told me it is immpossible to do this and a much larger/expensive system will be required.  Would any one care to comment on this ? I was planning to fit a small fan at the far end of the tubing to aid in the flow of air and take back pressure off the unit.  As with most of the instructables I have seen here, I know this is not the "correct" way of doing the job, more of a hack but at the moment I have more time than money
