Aerosol Flamethrower

I've searched almost all words associated with "Aerosol flamethrower" on instructables, yet I see nothing of the sort. Where I come from in England, they're very common, has anyone else ever made one and would the subject be to easy to make a whole instructable out of it. (even if other ways of using them were included?)-=EDIT=-I've established it IS a bad idea, but also just to clarify:~Spray~ can flamethrowers will NOT randomly blow up unless (to my knowledge)You hold it the flame so it burn the nozzle. You pierce the valve. You douse it in and light or chuck it in a fire.

Flamethrower vs. fire extinguisher

The video for "Ritalin" by Dancing Pigeons features some lovely slo-mo footage of a battle between a flamethrower and a fire extinguisher. Well, the battle itself isn't as intense as it sounds, really, but the footage is pretty damn cool. The footage was shot with a Vision Research Phantom, a camera I truly wish was affordable. I would be shooting everything in slo-mo. via engadget alt

What do i add to my alcohol fuel for my flamethrower, to make the flames brighter? Answered

Hi Im working on a flamethrower which is turning out pretty well, the only issue is, since im using alcohol as the fuel, the flames are pretty much invisible, i was wondering what i could add to increase the carbon content. Normally ide experiment with adding a little gasoline, or diesel to it, but i have to be careful with my pump, its made from either ABS or PLA, and for some reason everyone on ebay who sells them are very sketchy, ive bought 4 in the past and only the last one ever arrived. Anyway, what can i add to my fuel to make its flame more visible? Fortunately my flamethrower does not leak at all so its safe to move up from alcohol to something with a higher burning temp. What can i add that will not dissolve the plastic, increase flame brightness, and not increase the burn temp too much. Before hydrocarbons, are there any salts or chemicals i can dissolve into the alcohol to do this? i beleive i can dilute the alcohol a bit with water so it will take sodium, but will that have any significant effect? The sun is pretty bright here so alcohol flames are invisible, gasoline flames however are very visible in contrast. Thanks

when making some sort of "flame thrower" using an aerosol and lighting it, is there really such thing as suck back?

I dont see how flame would go through such a small opening, have air to fuel itself, build up pressure, and make it thick metl can explode. Even if it is possible itdoesnt seem easy. Cause axe cans and bugspray has some thick metal. Please respond

What's the best way to shoot fire out of the back of your motorcycle?

I'm going to be building a system to where I can shoot fire out of the back of my motorcycle. I do a few stunts and things and I think a flaming wheelie would end a show pretty well. So what'd be the best (and safest, I don't want it to explode if I lay the bike over) way to do this? Thanks in advance!

How To Make A Motion Sensor Flamethrower

I have been tinkering with an idea on how to make a motion sensor flamethrower, I start with an "Air Wick" i-motion then i am trying to add a light or igniter attachmentl. I made a prototype but then it lit on fire and then exploded so im working on an idea that wont have the metal burn. If you have any ideas on how to make this work better comment or just send me a message!

Propane flame thrower

Please read full post before making any comments. First of all yes, I know real flame throwers use napalm and compressed air to operate, but I don't want any crazy range and lethal power. I don't intend on using this thing in combat. I'm thinking something with a 4-5 foot flame, more if possible, (I don't think it would be with propane, but please, correct me if I'm wrong). I don't want a jet flame so I'm assuming I'll need to lower the pressure to get a more "violent" looking flame with the desired ranged. A "gas pump handle" for the flame control (sorry I don't know the proper term for that type of mechanism. it's not really a trigger. A lever valve?), or I might use a solenoid, not sure yet, Whatever would be more effective. Again, please give me any input your may have. The fuel source would be a large propane tank that I will have strapped to my back, I already have a design for that. If that seems too extreme I might do what this guy did and use a small tank with a reservoir, but with two tanks for more fuel. ( )  I'm undecided on whether I want electric ignition if anyone could give advice on that as well it would be appreciated. Anyone who has made something like this or knows what they are talking about please give me your input. Yes, I know this is a dangerous project and I take full responsibility should anything go wrong.    This is a video showing the flamethrower that in the above video being used. It displays the kind of performance I am looking for, except I don't want it strapped to my wrists.

Handheld Flamer- No pressure tank?

Alright fellow instructables, here's the lowdown: I'm currently attempting to build a hand-held flamethrower that you only need one hand to use, sort of like a pistol. However, when I was looking at a diagram for a regular Army flamethrower, I realized something: The fuel tanks on the flamethrower werent pressurized, and the fuel was pushed out using a pressurized tank that was fed into the fuel tanks. Now here's my question: Because I'm just trying to make a little hand-held that I DON'T need to shoot 50 feet, can I skip the pressure tanks and just jump to a commercial fuel source, like one of those miniature camper stove fuel tanks? Thanks Outdoors!

What is the best way to have a clean looking flame thrower on the back of my bike?

My bike is a standard mountain bike and I wanted to give it a more custom look than my paint job. I thought the best way to do this is to add a flamethrower to match my custom paint job which will be a red pinstripe around the flame, when the flame itself is grey. The flames will have skulls airbrushed in it. The rest of the body will be black with a little red pinstriping action. Maybe even some lettering reading : "Beast". probally with the same skull and red paint scheme. I want the flamethrower to fit in with everything else well, but I don't want to change the frame much, or paint the flamethrower.

How to wire servo motors?

I'm building a wrist-mounted flamethrower, much like the Pyro system (Google it). I've got my design, unfortunately, I have NO experience with servos and electronic motors. How do you build a small High voltage high frequency power supply? Answered

I need the plans/general guidance to build a high voltage/high frequency power supply like the one used here  . He describes it as "A small ignition-coil, driven by a simple NE555-circuit feeds a 2-stage-multiplier. 12kV out...almost no current, but as you see: Enough to start a fire." Im not sure how to build that.

How can i make a rc care controlled by a keyboard?

Okay so I'm making this rc car/robot, decked out with the works. Right now, in my design plans, I'm planning on it including a webcam (with usb adapter) a Walkie Talkie system, so communicate is possible through this, a flamethrower for self defense, and yeah, a lot of the works. ANYWAYS..... I need to be able to control all of these functions and its mobile stuff from a distance, and a keyboard is the only thing i can think of that would have enough buttons to do this. Any suggestions on how to wire all this stuff to remote controls from my keyboard?

My buddy and I are starting a webshow called Duo's In Rhyme. We are starting broadcasting tomorrow June 24, at 1:00 PM EST. We will be talking about Tech, Crafts, Science, and maybe some Games/Music, and we'll try to make it a bit funny and make some jokes. Tomorrow I will be showing/telling about Pineapple Grenades, and incendiary devices. I will be demonstrating a pocket handheld flamethrower that has a 10 foot range, but is less than 5" length! All real-time live! Just need some viewers, and the Instructables has always been supportive through friendly comments and featuring Instructables. I even got a message from Threadbanger asking me to do a bit because of this wonderful Website! Thanks! -HazardRush

Wireless Igniter?

I just recently made a pushbutton igniter system for lighting fireworks. ( a 9v battery goes through a momentary switch then to alligator clips which connect to the two wires coming off a Christmas light with the tip broken off. The end of the fuse goes in there and when the switch is pushed, the fuse lights) It works consistently without fault and I was wondering how I could make this remotly ignited. I understand that there is a way to just "replace" the momentary switch with some sort of receiver but I don't know where to go from there. If someone has knowledge of how you can do this or can redirect me to a sight with the parts I would need to accomplish this it would be greatly appreciated. thanks for the help   -flamethrower

HALO for us knexers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, i got the idea from a topic talking about a knex war. Then I thought "why dont we have one?????"so, i found out about how to get halo for free on the internet (from the microsoft website), and i have participated in a few multiplayer games. However, there can only be 8 participants max because that is the limit my internet will support (and it is very fast too.) So, i have set a password on the game, and you will be a participant on a first-come-first-serve basis. the first 8 to sign up will receive the password to the game, and will have the pleasure of getting killed by me.PARTICIPANTS1. DJ Radio2. Benfoxg3. Derinsleep4. 5. 6. nerfer 1927. Darth gecko man8.for the participants, here are the instructions:click here to download the trial version. when they ask for your age, click 18 on the drop-down box. Set it up, and name your profile your ibles username. you might want to sort your controls at this point too. To join the game, click on "multiplayer", click on "internet" then "get list". Click on "instructables", then enter the password.a few ground rules on the game-when you join, make sure your profile name is your ibles username. I do not want to think a hacker got into the game.-if someone says they are typing, if you spot them, do not shoot them, as it ruins the whole game experience. if they say they are typing, but you see them moving, you go ahead and shoot, they are lying-NO VERBAL FIGHTING-you can post comments mid-game, but no fighting people. If you shoot someone, its all right, but no "f you" or stuff like that.-FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE RULES WILL RESULT IN THE GAME BEING SHUT DOWNA word of warning to you guys:-make sure you have a fast processor (2 ghz at least), and at least 2 GB of ram. the game will run smoothly if you do-make sure you have a fast internet connection, as the game file is large in size. I need the fastest connection, as i am the game hostok here's the lineup for what we will do during the game.first, every person must stay at a base until i say ready. when i do, you may move out to try to look for a flamethrower hidden in the game arena. you may shoot whoever, but you only win if you find the flamethrower and shoot me. After, we will have a warthog race, the first thing we do is try to fight our way to the hog, and then drive to the starting line which is near the place where the flamethrower was found. then we do a 4 lap race along the perimeter of the arena, and the 4 who do not participate in the race get to shoot us down along the way. the next game will be a free-for-all slayer where the one with the highest score wins

Can someone help me with this circuit? Answered

I'm working on a fireworks ignitor based off of Bill Gurstelle's design in his book Absinthe and Flamethrowers, and I'm having some trouble. Instead of two switches, mine has three switches.  Like Bill's design, it runs off of eight AA batteries. One end of the battery pack goes to a toggle switch and a keylock switch, and the other goes to a pushbutton. They both end at a bolt. I have two long wires with alligator clips on both ends. Each clip clips to the bolt, then to a piece of nichrome wire which is wrapped around a fuse. In theory, when all of the switches are flipped, the nichrome wire lights the fuse. But this isn't happening. I've tested all of the switches, and they all work. The bolts and the nuts holding them in place both conduct electricity, but no power is arriving at the bolts. All of the components were purchased from Electronic Goldmine, except for the battery pack, which I bought at Radioshack. The ignitor is housed in a wooden (and therefore nonconductive) box. What's wrong?  (Attached is an awful drawing/collage I did of the circuit. If you need a picture of the machine itself, I can take a picture.) Thanks, Noahh
