wall water fountain

I would like to make a fountain that about 2 ft wide and would be almost ceiling height. I saw one on a web site for over 36,0000. which I could never afford in my lifetime if I want to continue to eat. It looks like it is raining behind a glass or clear plastic wall. I have seen them with glass bead inbeded into something and then water washes over them. How would I do something like this ? Thank you Karen

A water vapour fountain?

I´m just wondering if this is possible at all. If you use a sunoven you can concentrate sunlight, or a set of mirrors in the same way as those sun energy centrals the sunlight creates a hotspot. Or so I think. Could you then use a normal fountain like sprinkler to get water to that hotspot using a solarpump, a pump on solar energy. If the water goes through the hotspot would it then evaporate on place ? Or am I mistaken that the hotspot would not be in thin air ? Would it be possible to somehow create one then, and get something like that ?

Arduino soda fountain?

I would like to make a arduino soda fountain but i need some advice. Heres my plan Take an 8 channel relay board hook it up to the arduino. Then I take a 8 key keypad and hook to the arduino. I would buy 8 solenoid valves and hook them to relays. The valves would hold 1 water line and 6 flavors. Then i get stumped how do i get the last line to be carbonated water because if you had to take a soda stream to make the water it would take away from the effect of the machine. If any body knows how to do that i would love to hear I will also take any other advice Thanks Kaden

How do I keep outdoor fountain water clean?

I just made an outdoor garden fountain for my balcony....and I love it!!  What would anyone recommend I add to water so that it does not get slimy or get nasty. It is a large planter type pot with another planter type pot within it and then I added a pump that can bubble or spray...but water is retained in the pots at all times.  I also have cats and dogs...so I would like the additive to be safe (I do not let them drink fromit...but just in case)  Thank you!!!

A new parker fountain pen. After a few words starts to leave gaps, as if ink isn't flowing smoothly

. I have two other pens of the same type that both flow smoothly over the same papers, so I beleive the problem isn't the paper.  It's been over a month, and I've cleaned it with water several times.  Another clue to what is happening is that, even though I only use dark blue ink, occasionally it flows out... green after being left for a few days. Since ink flows well on newsprint, the ink flow from the cartridge isn't the problem.    I've tried pressing on the nib, as in the instructions, but that doesn't make it flow smoothly. searching for a pump that can handle pudding

I dug through a few forums, trying to decide which this was best suited for. I settled on tech since its a physical computing project. I'm looking for a resource for a water pump that can handle something like pudding. the initial thought was use an air pump and a bag or maybe have the bag be squeezed closed but i need it to cycle through.  Like a water fountain of pudding! The pudding spurts out, then there is also an intake which is recycling the goop. Does anyone have a resource on pumps which could handle something so thick?  (and since its a small scale project, cheaply and small!)

I know it is possible to build a fountain that runs on gravity and water pressure, but I'm not sure how to go about making one. I understand that you can't get something from nothing, and I'm not looking for a fountain that would run endlessly. If someone could show me the basics of how such a font might work, I would greatly appreciate it.

Homemade Water Fountain Help

Homemade Water Fountain Help So I am doing a project for my fraternity, Lambda Chi Alpha, here at Ohio University. I have $150 and an awesome idea, but I am not sure how to approach it. I received this picture my dad found on the internet and I want to replicate it because it'll be cheap and fairly easy: As you can see in the pic, it is a 3 tier water fountain made of kitty pools and I would like to say laundry baskets. I love the idea of the water draining into the bottom pools and that is pretty starightforward - drill holes in the top pools. However, like any other fountain, you need a pump to bring the cold water back to the top. Again, my entire budget is $150. So the pools will be like $10-20 each, and same with two baskets. I'm pretty good with tools, so if construction of any sort needs to be done, by all means. Again, I'm not familiar with pumps, but I don't need anything extravagant. Also, our fraternity colors are gold, purple, and green. It would be sick to paint the water fountain with some cheap, waterproof paint. I can go over $150 a little if need be, but my budget is very limited - which is half the fun with this! Final thing, this needs to be able to be taken down and stored away when we're not using it. So nothing can be permanently attached. I assume then we'd have to cut holes in the middle of the pools and laundry baskets for the pump to go to the top. But then we would need some sort of sealant on the insides of the pool to keep the water in. Thanks for any and all help. I'm new to the website, and I look forward to using it more often as I see some other cool things on here!!

Making a wireless fountain for the backyard??

I am not trying to be babied or anything just need just basic advice. I picked up a few books on hobby electronics and want to get into it. For the first project that is not a "book" project I want to know how to use a small DC water pump to power a backyard fountain. In an Ideal world the pump would work from 100m+ away but this might not be a reasonable request. I purchased a pump and this is it:http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ultra-quiet-DC12V-Mini-Brushless-Motor-Submersible-Water-Pump-3M-240L-H-New-KN-/221703041910?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash;=item339e87f376[1] Very simple. I want to plug and play into a transmitter and a receiver. http://www.ebay.com/itm/DC-12v-10A-relay-2CH-wireless-RF-Remote-Control-Switch-Transmitter-Receiver-/171743350808?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash;=item27fcb39018[2] Will this system work? The way I understand it I need to connect a 9 volt battery to the receiver and I am assuming its soldered in. Then I can run wire to the motor directly. Am I missing anything here - I know this is very amateur but I am never done electronics stuff before. I will be taking a few community classes in the summer which could prove interesting. What else do I need to do this? Is there a plug and play system (receiver / transmitter) that would work easily?

Outdoor water fountain...how to silence homemade pump

Hi Guys, I love this website. I've been living in Egypt and can't really do all the hobbies that I love. We recently moved and I have a little patio area. So I wanted to build a waterfall. It's 10 feet high and I didn't realize it would be such a futile task trying to find a water pump that will pump that high. So I decided to make one. I attached some images showing the centrifugal pump made from two plastic containers, a water bottle, plastic coat hanger, and construction adhesive that is driven by a drill. It works really well. It gets up to the twelve feet I currently have the hose running up to. But in order to do this, the drill has to be almost full speed which is obnoxiously loud.  I'm looking for some ideas on either how to silence the drill motor, or go a different route. I have to rebuild the shaft as I snapped the plastic rod (hanger) I was using, so I'm open to some rebuild ideas. Thanks so much for the input! I'll post a tutorial once I get a fully functional, stable, and practical prototype.

Can anyone give me instructions on how to build a solar fountain? One that fits into a large plastic planter.?

I'm still working on "green" craft items and I am thinking about using soda pop bottoms for the center piece of a fountain that water falls from one bottom down to the next and having it recycle the water. It would have to be a small pump...but would like to find the pumps that work on solar ( and battery) powered and where to buy them...really CHEAP LOL . I am going to use a plastic pot, about 8 " x 14" or more for the base of the fountain. I could use anyones thoughts/ideas on how to make the pump recycle and what type of pump I should buy? I think I have the rest of this worked out in my mind ....but I'm totally clueless when it comes to power of any sorts  : o

Is there any point in putting a storage battery into my solar water pump circult?

I have a small pump that I use to move water in a birdbath outside of my office window. It's solar-powered. Here it is on eBay. According to the very minimal information sheet included, the "Power of Solar Battery" is 7V/1.2W. The "Power of Pump" is 7V/1.05W. The pump only runs when the panel is in direct sunlight. Is there any reasonable way to add a larger storage battery to the circuit so that power is stored when the sun is brightest and the pump can run for a longer time?

what do i need to do to use sparkler fountain black powder in a homemade fuse?

Hi, a fireworks sparkler fountain that i had lying around in my room has dropped its contents as the base clay stuff crumbled away, and what i was left with was a paper case full of fountain powder. the kind of fountain is the kkind that is it a paper tube like normal fireworks, but make a spray of sparks fames and colours of the ground, not a sparkler stick, now sparkler fountain powder isnt like gun powder, this stuff burns slowly, probably because it has less oxidizer. what i need to know, is what i should do to the powder to make it suitable to use as normal black powder when making a fuse using dextrin in the proportions 10/1. i have access to a large amount of potassium nitrate, do i perhaps need to add more of it to the sparkler powder.

It uses 3 AA batteries. I am willing to get something that would reduce the amount of amps allowed through. Even if it's expensive or complicated, I'd like to know how. I feel like I could probably figure it out myself, but it'd take too long, and have too much of a risk of me making something short out, and since I live in a dorm, that would be very, very bad.

Seeking ideas/thoughts for fountain pen traveling inkwell

I own a certain fountain pen that fills in a special way and is best filled by using the traveling inkwell of the maker of that fountain pen-- by using that traveling inkwell, one can fill the pen with a maximum amount of ink-- filling by dipping the nib end into a bottle of ink doesn't let the max amount of ink to enter the pen. But that traveling inkwell produced by the pen maker is VERY EXPENSIVE. A guy apparently in Australia made his own and I'd like to make one. I have ideas but seek from you more thinking and ideas on this homemade traveling inkwell. [You can see the Australian's clever, simple traveling inkwell here: https://imgur.com/a/fkzTs ] I thought I'd use a straight-sided plastic pill bottle for the vessel that holds the ink and is the main part of the traveling inkwell. The bottle I'd probably use is ~ 28mm ID. I don't know what to use and don't know where to find the rubbery "plug" into which the section of the fountain pen is pushed before inverting the plastic bottle to fill the pen. [The section of a fountain pen is the part that one holds when writing with the pen. It's also called the grip and is the area immediately behind the nib and feed.] All I have so far: - 8.5 cm tall x ~ 28 mm ID straight-sided plastic pill bottle which has near-the-top internal threads for the cap that can also be screwed onto external threads. [I'd use the internal threads for the cap.] Requirements which have come to mind-- tell me if these are sound or should be re-considered: - Whatever rubbery one-hole plug is used, it has to yield a bit to the fountain pen section (which is 11 mm OD) when the section is pushed into the one-hole plug-- the plug hole I suppose should be ~ 9.5 mm to 10 mm. The rubbery material around the hole has to grip the section so ink leakage doesn't happen during filling. - The one-hole plug should not move downward into the ink when the fountain pen section is pushed into the one-hole plug. Maybe the plug would have to be glued in place so it doesn't move? What glue or bonding substance if that's best? - The one-hole plug would be set/glued/bonded immediately below the near-the-top internal threads of the pill bottle. - I suppose the height of the one-hole plug would be ~ 1 cm to 2 cm. - I suppose a straight-side plug vs. a tapered one would be the ideal (but a straight-sided one would, I suppose, have to be glued/bonded in place so it doesn't slip or move). - Ink leakage shouldn't occur when the section is pushed into the one-hole plug and the bottle then inverted for filling. If leakage occurs, then ink runs down my hand and arm during filling. - What kind of not-hard-but-yielding-a-bit "plug" or maybe a stopper is best and where do I find just one? [Fountain pen inks are mainly water with dyes and maybe some additives in them.] Thanks for your attention to this posting!

AA Battery Emulating Transformer?

One of my many hobbies is collecting tabletop water fountains. I have about 6 fountains, two independently powered and 4 that run on 2 AA batteries. Since I have these fountains on all the time, as you can imagine they are costly to power. One day I finally got sick of putting new batteries in these things and rewired their battery wires in a parallel circuit for running on DC power from a wall. Now the only thing I need is a power supply. Now, motors aren't too picky about voltage. They'll operate on different voltages but if it isn't just right the motor will be too loud or too weak to pump the water correctly. This rules out and transformers I have in my bin. Upon measuring the current from the 4 fountains, I found that it uses about 440mA. I have kept my eyes open for a good power supply but have not yet seen one. I've also toyed around with the idea of using the closest one I have (Nokia 3.7v 500~?mA) and applying a voltage regulator on it, but I don't want to buy one yet as I am still a novice at some of the mechanics of most electrical components. Would that be an effective plan? If not, any other ideas? My fountains haven't turned on in a few weeks and there are starting to urge for the sweet trickle of water down their dry, dusty flumes.
