Magic Freewheel & Bike Frame

The machine shop I work for had this "great" idea about 10 years ago. Wouldn't it be nice if you could pedal backwards on your bicycle and still go forward? It's like 2 things in one! Not as glamorous as it sounds. So I'm getting rid of some old parts to various "Super Gear" projects including the Magic Freewheel, an Aluminum bike frame, and if you really wanted them I an go dig out some of the old gears in storage too. Make an offer if you want something. We can ship UPS.

freewheel for micro scooter wheels

Is it possible to make or source some kind of freewheel and sprocket device for a wheel of around 80 - 100mm diameter? i've googled a bit and found micro folding bikes with similar sized wheels but i haven't found replacement parts listed for them, the closest thing i have found is parts for rockboard scooters but rear wheel assemblies cost $80 each which seems a bit steep...

What to do with old bicycle rims?

OK, here they canibalize bicycles. Usually all that they throw out are old frames and rims. So your mission, chould you decide to accept it is to find something more interesting to do with a discarded bike rim than making a crab net out of it. (ps. spokes and freewheels are included with most rims)

Circuit for electric vehicle? Regenerative braking / free-wheeling?

I'm working on a circuit for an electric trike I plan to build for the local EV challenge competition. I plan to incorporate regenerative "free-wheeling" to recharge the batteries on the down hill sections. S1 closed and S2 open to accelerate the vehicle. S1 open and S2 closed to recharge the batteries while freewheeling down hill. Batteries: sealed lead acid batteries 12V or 24V (depending on motor) Motor: brushed DC motor Would this kind of circuit work? Is it possible to recharge SLA batteries in such a way? Any help and/or suggestions is appreciated. PS. I know it would also be possible to implement regen braking using a full H-bridge, but i think we would be doing more freewheeling than braking on the race track.

My Bicycle chain skips when it's on the smallest gear and there's too much pressure on it. Anyone got any ideas?

I am speaking of the rear cassette. it and the entire rear wheel is months old, so i don't think its a worn out freewheel. Ive adjusted the derailer numorous times with no luck.

charging electric bike by it own?

Hi all, this is my first time on instructable and i think i can built an electirc bike with self-charging feature when pedalling or not using motor or downhill of freewheeling but i doesn't have any electric background i'm just a car mechanic from pakistan. i think if i put a 36v mid drive blcd motor kit in my bike as a drive motor and also put two 72v hub motors in both wheels then will it can be able to charge the battery or not? i know that hub motor produces AC volts and i neet to use 3-phase bridge rectifier, i just want to know is it possible or not? if possible then what are the pros and cons will i have with this system? sorry if mistaken in english. millions of thanks, ali shamsi.

Help for a wheelchair + resources for the winter project ...

Hello everyone, I am a wheelchair user and lover of winter sports, especially skiing. During my time as a walker, I used to go to the ski slopes as soon as it snowed because it was between snow and snowy landscapes but now it is difficult for me because my wheelchair sinks into the snow and prevents me from moving. I am aware that there are resources for my case, be they the http://www.polarstroller.com/en/store/2-Set-of-4X... or also an option for hiking such as freewheel http://www.polarstroller.com/en/store/2-Set-of-4X... or other options like that. The point is that they are really expensive and difficult to get in Spain. For what I plan to do it myself but I'm not very handy. Could you give me some clue, instruction how to start step by step? Thank you for your time and help in advance.Sorry 4 my poor english !!!

Self charging an electric bike?

Hi all, I am always amazed at the ingenuity here and after many years of being fascinated I would like to ask my first question.  I'm thinking of getting or converting/building an electric cycle.  I've been told by local dealers that none except the very expensive have a recharge facility for sat when you go downhill or are freewheeling,  That seems a waste to me so I am thinking ... why not buy a used wheel with a hub motor and fit it at the front wheel and that raises the following questions in my mind ... Can hub motors be used in reverse as generators?   Would the output be speed (rpm) dependent and if so then if said cycle has say a 36 volt system would it only charge the battery if the 'generator' is producing 36v or close to? If so would it be better to find perhaps a 24v hub motor to use as a generator and charge the battery via a variable input, 36v output step-up? I appreciate it will be less than 100% efficient when both using electric at the motor and charging at the 'generator' but would anyone have any idea how inefficient?  I'm fit enough to cycle on the flat but would appreciate help on the hills!! I assume I will need a diode or similar ... does anyone know where I can find a suitable circuit diagram Lots of questions I know ... sorry. David
