So I just built myself a new computer with the following specs gigabyte motherboard model: GA-MA770T-UD3P (rev. 1.0) phenom 2 tri core processor 4gb ddr3 mushkin ram radeon 4670 tp link wireless card 2 LCD's hooked up to the 4670 Windows 7 64-bit/ XP 64-bit (not at the same time) +tons of cooling so nothing is over heating I installed windows 7 and it kept freezing up every once in a while and I tried just about everything to fix it. Updating bios, cleaning the registry, making sure all the drivers are up to date, all sorts of things. So I thought it was Windows 7 giving me the problem. I uninstall windows 7 and installed windows xp. I loaded up everything got the drivers up to date and after a couple of hours it froze up. Then I rebooted and bam another freeze 3 minutes into being on the computer. And again the next time 15 minutes into being on the computer. Now Im not sure if the freezing is happening on windows 7 for the same reason as on Windows xp and it is driving me crazy not being able to use my new computer Any ideas on what I can do to fix the problem? Thanks for any help. Got some more details. 1) I noticed when I move a window around I my cp usage spikes from 1% to close to 30%. Not sure if this is normal but with tri core 2.8ghz doesnt seem like this is good. 2) When I have 3+ windows open and I drag them over each other it leaves a trail or shadow of its edge so it looks like I am dragging many windows. Sometimes this shadow is just white. 3) Also when I try to install a game the computer will always freeze before it finishes and most of the time right at the beginning. 4) When I press the button to force it to go off and then turn it back on it often just comes up with a black screen and I have to repeat. it always turns on the second time. How can I tell if it is my hardware? Just did a video stress test and benchmark. Everything was normal. Ran "cpu stability test 6.0". Watched it for 20 minutes then I left the computer and came back to see it frozen in screen saver. Speedfan temps- Temp 1- 26c temp2- 25c HD0- 26C core- 15c It is pretty cold in my room. I also found something that makes it freeze every single time I have done it so far. When trying to install world of warcraft as soon as I click agree in the install setup it freezes. 6 out of 6 times. My power supply is 500w "stable power"

My Xbox 360 is having a problem that causes it to freeze up, (in a sense). I can hear, what sounds like the drive, make a clicking sound. Then after a number of clicks, a window pops up saying that it cannot read the disc, that it is dirty. The disc is clean. I also had the three ring problem, which I just recently fixed by fixing the x-clamp problem. Does anyone know what my problem could be?

Again my Power Mac G4 is acting up again. This time it freezes usually after about an hour and a half of use. When monitoring activity monitor, the process called SustemUIServer turns red, and the computer freezes, also the CPU's shut down completely. If I an watching a video the sound will repeat in a little clip over and over again like a broken record. I have downgraded the computer from 2Gb of RAM to 1.5 as one of my sticks of RAM was bad, so obviously it is not a RAM problem. Yes I have ran various RAM testing programs such as MemTest86, and that had no issues. Also with YouTube videos the video will freeze and the mouse wont move. I will post specs of the mac soon so you know exactly what we are working with. And for anyone wondering, it's running Mac OS 10.5.8, Leopard

A couple hundred people created an event in Grand Central Station in NYC simply by freezing in place. The event was coordinated by Improv Everywhere, a group that has managed to create some wonderfully amazing events with good coordination, a lot of volunteers, and not much else. Who needs a big budget to do something this fun and memorable? The plan: Get a couple hundred people to freeze in place in GCS for five minutes. People stopped mid-conversation, mid-stride, even mid-paper drop. The execution: Flawless. Improv Everywhere pageNote: my landlord participated in one of their events at a Home Depot. He loved it and if you're near NYC, check out one of their events in the future.

Ok, so I've done a little searching and so far no one has said this can be done without expensive equiptment so I'm not getting my hopes up. Here's my idea: Place my flowers in a container with silica gel, seal it, and put the whole thing in a deep freezer for a couple weeks. Then I would unplug the freezer to allow the temperature to slowly rise. I THINK the silica gel will eliminate the need for a vacuum by absorbing the moisture instead of pulling it out. Its a long shot, I know. Has anyone tried this? Does anyone think it would work? Has anyone found another way to preserve flowers so they maintain their shape and color? I plan on coating them in resin to use in jewelry designs so they need to look as fresh as possible. Thanks for any ideas you can give me!

(I want answers, not OMG YOU'VE BEEN DEAD) When ever my Acer Aspire one d250 netbook's bottom is impacted, or dropped on my bed, it freezes. The only way to restore it is to manually restart, then it usually freezes after the splash screen. Occasionally, it will just freeze. I've tried checking the temperature of the cpu, but it comes up as normal, 110 degrees Fahrenheit. I want to crack it open and check out if anything is loose, which would make perfect sense, but I want to do a system backup first, and I'm afraid it'll freeze during that. If anyone could provide links to instructions on how to open such a computer, or a solution to the problem overall. Also, I checked my ram already, and did a full scan with avast and AVG10. -NYPA UPDATE I believe the problem to be that the hard drive is failing. As of now, my computer will randomly lock up, particularly during intensive HDD usage. When i drop my laptop, it'll lock up because the hard drive shakes and gets unbalanced, causing it to scratch. My computer will lock up randomly because it'll hit some of those scratches. This is all my reasoning. I'm not sure if it is right, but it seems to be. I'm going to do a backup and restore, just to make sure it is a hardware issue, and if it is, I'll get it checked out. Thanks for the support. UPDATE I took it in and the problem proved to be a tiny crack in the motherboard. Lucky for me, however, my family just received a brand new desktop! WOOHOO!

I would like to know how to freeze dry food. Could some create an Instructable How-To,... Can someone build a machine that freeze dry food? There are essentially three categories of freeze-dryers: the manifold freeze-dryer, the rotary freeze-dryer and the tray style freeze-dryer. Two components are common to all types of freeze-dryers: a vacuum pump to reduce the ambient gas pressure in a vessel containing the substance to be dried and a condenser to remove the moisture by condensation on a surface cooled to -40 to -80 C (-40 to -112 F). The manifold, rotary and tray type freeze-dryers differ in the method by which the dried substance is interfaced with a condenser. In manifold freeze-dryers a short usually circular tube is used to connect multiple containers with the dried product to a condenser. The rotary and tray freeze-dryers have a single large reservoir for the dried substance. Thank You

I am finally getting a good crop of edible pod peas, also known as snow peas and/or Chinese peas. These are the ones that are really sweet and you pick and eat the whole thing while its small. I have tried freezing them before but it didn't work very good. What is a good way to freeze them that will preserve the taste and texture? Will it work better if I cook them first?

I've written quite few instructables and I'd never run into this problem. Whenever I uploaded a certain picture into my latest instructable, the whole thing would freeze. I couldn't delete the picture, save the work in progress, create or delete steps or do anything! I thought my file must be corrupt and recreated the photo but I continued to have the same problem regardless of what browser I was using (Firefox or Safari). I can't delete the uploaded pictures from my library either because they are "in use" by unfinished instructables I can't change, publish or delete. Finally I tried to change the file name of my picture. It's original name was quite long, so I changed it to muff.jpeg. This solution worked! But I still had to recreate a new instructable from scratch. Even if this is just a parameter which all users need to be aware of when uploading their files I think it could be improved on the website end... it should not be possible to upload pictures unless their filenames are compatible with the site. Now I've no idea how I'll get rid of those useless draft instructables, and the photos with the bad file names in my library....

There's a supermarket right next to my apartment, so I usually go there once a week to buy groceries for the next 7 days or so. I notice that a lot of food has an expiration date that is not far off, so it feels like I have to hurry and eat all of my meat and fruits in vegetables and then if I'm trying to stretch food for another week, all I have left is rice and some odds and ends. I don't know much about freezing/thawing and what you can and can't freeze. My question is, how can I learn about the proper ways to freeze things to extend their usability and not have to buy food again every week. Any pointers

I do not use the trackpad. I use an external mouse. Whenever I log in to the computer, the mouse pointer is freezing up. When this happens, I can only use the trackpad to move the mouse. I found a temporary fix: Unplugging the usb and replugging it. It is still quite annoying though. Is there a permanent fix to this?

If I go to my "comments" list ("You" -> "Discussions" -> "comments"), and click on a comment made on my orangeboard, the little pop-up version of the comment appears, and my whole browser freezes - I can't even change tabs. On my Wondows/Firefox PC, I have to close the browser and start from scratch. On my Linux/Firefox EePC, I cannot even close the browser - I have to restart the machine. (This has been happening for a week or two, I just keep forgetting to post the report.)

(first paragraph is blah blah, skip if you wish) As some of you know, there are two approaches to a solar water heater. One is a close loop with a coolant type liquid that wont freeze. The problem is that you must build and exchanger of some sort to gather the heat. Expensive and troublesome. The second is an open loop in which you circulate the water. Possibility of freezes. I have a plan for an open loop system that will latch on to an existing tank and supplement the heat but wont freeze. What i need is a circuit that will shut off the pump when the sun is down and a water thermostat i can stick in the existing tank that will also shut the pump off. I think they should be one circuit somehow and should be 12v DC so the pump can be solar powered. They should also be as cheap as possible. I'm not good with circuits so i could use some help. Perhaps there is some way to reverse a dusk-to-dawn switch. Please help.

When this happens the mouse cursor and keyboard do not work. The old "Alt-Control-Del" doesn't do anything. I have to reboot and sometimes it freezes up during the boot process. It doesn't seem to be related to what windows I have open and will not happen for hours and then sometimes twice in a few minutes. If I leave it alone for some time it will sleep and not always awake. Does anyone have a solution or need more information about this problem? Any help will be very appreciated. Jerry
