I'd like to build wire frame shapes of lizards, geckos, insects and etc for lighting up at night. I've built a 4 foot gecko out of conduit tubing and fencing wire. It is very strong but was difficult to work with. I think there must be easier materials to work with. I've seen shapes made out of plastic filament, and then there are zoos that do the Christmas shows. Garden centers also sell the wire frame shapes for topiary. The typical size is going to be between 1 and 3 feet long. The material doesn't have to be hollow like tubing, it can be a solid like wire. Ideally, the material would be something I could heat up, bend to a design, then it would retain its shape when cool. A little flexibility is good but the design has to withstand being outdoors. Thanks for any tips.

When posting a message, the "preview post" radio button ceases to work at random, not allowing me to preview my post before posting it. All other buttons work, but this one stops responding at random. I have found no pattern to it. I am reviewing Darth Gecko Man's latest sniper! What to expect: Strength: 8/10 Why: Small chance it will break. Range: 7/10 Why: Too effected by wind with the original bullet Looks: 8/10 Why: Looks good. It is nice and small. Parts: Handle: 5/10 Why: Way too small. Cant fit my hand Stock: 0/10 Why: No Stock!!!! Barrel: 0/10 Why: No Barrel! Fake barrel: 8/10 Why: Works easily and look good Bipod: 0/10 Why: No bipod!!! (This is not necissary. I am just noting that it does not have one. Please no more argueing) Modability: 10/10 Why: This gun is very easy to modify and would be great for beginners to play around with. Even I made a mod of it by adding a stock and moving the front handle to the rear and making the rear handle part of the stock. In the end: Erganomics are not too good. Feels too small. BUT in a knex war it would be good not as a sniper but as a secondary weapon. The trigger system cant hold too much pressure but for a medium range weapon it is good Creator: Darth Gecko Man Gun: Blazer v1 Sniper Rifle

Consistently, the links in the weekend builder do not work for me. After spinning for a long time at the "app.streamsend.com" referral counter, the page times out. To visit the projects featured in the email, I have to either search for the project in the main page, or parse out the instructables link from your "streamsend.com" referal counter, both of which are rather annoying. I have tried viewing the links using firefox 3.0.10, Midori (webkit based) and Epiphany (gecko based) in Ubuntu 9.04 with the same results in all browsers, on different machines and networks. streamsend.com seems to be faulty.

Here are the rules. The sniper must be your own and it must be rated over 3. They will be judged on range, pierceing, accuracy, and amount of pieces. I will need a judge or two for each. I am hoping I am not the only one with this issue: The new ebook downloads are currently very difficult to download in Firefox here. In Firefox 4-6, the links that should show up are covered almost completely by the text box above them, leaving a two pixel high sliver that can be clicked on. This makes it very hard to download the ebooks in Firefox. In Firefox 7, the buttons are mostly covered. You cannot read the text, but you can at least tell the buttons are there, as a 10 pixel high orange stripe appears. The links work normally in other browsers I have installed (Iron, Opera), as well in Firefox 3.6.x (confirmed from another user's computer). I've attached a screenshot that exemplifies this issue. For reference, I'm doing this on Windows 7 x86, SP1. Display resolutions are 1600x900 pixels for secondary, 1900x1080 pixels for primary. 96 DPI - nothing strange here. I have gone as far as reinstalling the operating system, with no change. I also have a Linux machine running Firefox 7, on which I cannot replicate this issue, even with the same set of add-ons installed to it. On Windows: Current browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:7.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/7.0.1 On Linux: Current browser: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:7.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/7.0.1 Update: This issue has persisted for four full versions of Firefox, and STILL hasn't been addressed by staff. This is why I let my Pro subscription lapse, and don't want to renew it.

About a year ago I bought a 10 gallon fish tank for about 10 bucks and 3 small comet feeder goldfish. I had a spare filter and some gravel then tossed in some hides. It look great but now that the fish are about 3-4 inches each I decided they would like a slightly larger tank. I don't want to spend 50 plus dollars for another tank. I was talking to another fish owner the other day and mentioned a large plastic storage container, He said he had used one and built a wooden box around it to support it. My idea is to buy a 30 gallon storage container or cheap plastic pond and build a wooden frame around it then spray great stuff in the gaps for support. How does this sound? I have a desk with a couple cricket keepers on and a leopard gecko. I planned to put wheels on it so I can slide it in and out of the space under the desk. I have a light that I can mount to the bottom of the desk. Does this sound like it would be okay or a disaster waiting to happen. Thanks, Clemsonguy1125

The Grand Knexpert Tournament has started. The first challenge for all of the contestants is to make a knex gun. Yes that's right, just make a knex gun. Your gun will be judged by power, reliability, ease of use, and looks. You have to have an instructable or a video for your gun. In the video you have to demonstrate the power, ease of use, and reliability. Slide shows and forum topics are not permitted. You cannot enter a knex weapon that has already been posted, but you can enter one that you are designing right now. The top 8 will move on and the rest will be out.DEADLINEYour gun has to be entered by November 10th, 2008.How to EnterJust post a link to your instructable, slide show, etc.REVISED List of contestants1.TheDunkis [ENTRY]2.Dsman1852763.I_Am_Canadian [ENTRY]4.Jollex [ENTRY]5.Trauts [ENTRY]6.Bakenbitz [ENTRY]7.Dutchwarlord [ENTRY]8.The Jamalam [ENTRY]9.S0lekiller [ENTRY]10.Katarukito [ENTRY]11.Knexguy 12.The_Burrito_Master13.Darth Gecko Man [ENTRY]14.Pineapplebobthegreat15.Oompa-Loompa [ENTRY]16.Viccie.B1993 [ENTRY]17.Dutchj [ENTRY]18.Yerjoking [ENTRY]19.Bartboy [ENTRY]20.Shadowninja31 [ENTRY]

Hi im building a vivarium for my fat-tail geckos the standerd 1s boar me so i wont something diffrent so i need some help. The viv i have no problems with im already in the middle of the build its just the electrics i cant do. i have an idea it just seeing if it can be done or something neater or similer . At the minut im useing a plastic vivarium with items (3), (5), (6). But item (5) the manul timer is being use instead of item (2) The Microclimate day/night dimming Thermostat as the manual timer is a cheaper option and using it to turn the mat on and off to regulate the temp...... So what im trying to do is have Some thing like item (1) useing this as the main controller . This is what im after :Item (1),(2),(3)(4),(6) in 1 neat package well to run off 1 plug ... I was going to use a fan controller (pc) as this already has 3-5 small neat temp sencers and reads temps and the fan controller disply would looks cool and small and its 12v like the LCD lights ..and was going to use the the fan controller knobs to control White/Blue LCD Lights to turn then on and off ie:White for day and Blue for the night .and 1 of the other control knobs as my be a dimmer switch for the heat mat ...I think ive put that as id like it .. ( Sorry im dyslexics if spelling and dosent make sence in place's) Thanks hope some 1 can help . Oh im rubbish with electrics and forgot to mention that my viv is getting wall mounted as the need for 1 plug.

EDITI will NOT post the gun. Don't ask. However, I will be nice and get more pictures/closeups of the gun tomorrow so you can build off of that. This is my own oodammo pistol. Its not as generic as the others out there, because its the first one to have a slide. The slide can pull back more force that it looks like it can, because of a simple 3 part mechanism in there. It also comes with better ROF, but I haven't done tests as to how fast it can shoot yet.The gun also comes with a new (Well u8mycookies on KI made it first, but I made mine without looking at his. BTW, Darth Gecko Man can go sod off.) removable mag (Well, I have never seen it done before anyways.), it holds 8 shots and can be preloaded and stored in pockets for knex wars. Its pretty powerful, even with one band, I haven't done proper range tests yet, but I think it can shoot 40 feet with one band. I've been shooting this in my parent's bedroom, and it can hit the wall and return 5 feet from my position. 2 times the ammo has returned to my position broken in half.Credit goes to zak for trigger and handle. EDIT- I have had some complaints that the mag isn't mine. I made my mag without looking at the one on KI, I never knew it existed until today, and I DO NOT GO LOOK AT KI SH*T ANYMORE. Now with that taken care of, if you still have a problem, go away and don't come back. Video:

Registration and password update accepts a password that cannot be used on the site for logging in later
According to "How to Submit Bug Reports" here come the details: (A) Registration and password update accepts a password that cannot be used on the site for logging in later 1. Acer laptop, T4400 Dual-core CPU, 4GB RAM with Win7 (6.1.7601) Home Premium x64 Service Pack 1 running 2. Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:33.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/33.0 3. Instructables dot com Signup 4. Screen shots attached 5. Steps to reproduce: go to Signup, enter a valid e-mail address You remember and enter a random password e.g. 34 characters long, containing A-Z, a-z, 0-9, and some special characters, e.g. #%'(*.:?@ (I can send You the exact passwords used upon request) You can repeat this as many times You wish with the useful feature called Forgot Username/Password -> You will get the code, You can enter another password like the above and still cannot login. Another strangeness was to me that the 'restored' account had a totally different username from that I originally entered when signing up. Interesting 'phenomenon'. This does not happen with other types of passwords (weaker passwords) Suggestions & ideas: while I did not check page source, input field checking might need improvement. (Bobby Tables: A guide) Another thing (B) is that SSL on the site 'has its limits' B.1, B.2 Same specs apply B.3 Instructables dot com Signup via HTTPS B.4 I trust Your imagination, maybe there is no need for a screen shot B.5 NET::ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID *.a.ssl.fastly.net certification provided by DigiCert (High Assurance CA-3) Steps to reproduce: - reset or check out certificates in test browser - just open the site via https:// Suggestions & ideas: the website could use StartSSL Free or StartSSL Verified Certificates An issue connected to this one is that the SSL Signup page is useless anyway, since captcha cannot be seen and/or entered the via the HTTPS version... (screen shot attached) Suggestions & ideas: make the captcha work on the https page and redirect signups and logins there by default (and then redirect back to http if the original login request came that way) Best Regards, pc-fan

Well, i got the idea from a topic talking about a knex war. Then I thought "why dont we have one?????"so, i found out about how to get halo for free on the internet (from the microsoft website), and i have participated in a few multiplayer games. However, there can only be 8 participants max because that is the limit my internet will support (and it is very fast too.) So, i have set a password on the game, and you will be a participant on a first-come-first-serve basis. the first 8 to sign up will receive the password to the game, and will have the pleasure of getting killed by me.PARTICIPANTS1. DJ Radio2. Benfoxg3. Derinsleep4. 5. 6. nerfer 1927. Darth gecko man8.for the participants, here are the instructions:click here to download the trial version. when they ask for your age, click 18 on the drop-down box. Set it up, and name your profile your ibles username. you might want to sort your controls at this point too. To join the game, click on "multiplayer", click on "internet" then "get list". Click on "instructables", then enter the password.a few ground rules on the game-when you join, make sure your profile name is your ibles username. I do not want to think a hacker got into the game.-if someone says they are typing, if you spot them, do not shoot them, as it ruins the whole game experience. if they say they are typing, but you see them moving, you go ahead and shoot, they are lying-NO VERBAL FIGHTING-you can post comments mid-game, but no fighting people. If you shoot someone, its all right, but no "f you" or stuff like that.-FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE RULES WILL RESULT IN THE GAME BEING SHUT DOWNA word of warning to you guys:-make sure you have a fast processor (2 ghz at least), and at least 2 GB of ram. the game will run smoothly if you do-make sure you have a fast internet connection, as the game file is large in size. I need the fastest connection, as i am the game hostok here's the lineup for what we will do during the game.first, every person must stay at a base until i say ready. when i do, you may move out to try to look for a flamethrower hidden in the game arena. you may shoot whoever, but you only win if you find the flamethrower and shoot me. After, we will have a warthog race, the first thing we do is try to fight our way to the hog, and then drive to the starting line which is near the place where the flamethrower was found. then we do a 4 lap race along the perimeter of the arena, and the 4 who do not participate in the race get to shoot us down along the way. the next game will be a free-for-all slayer where the one with the highest score wins
