Giant Ad

There's a huge National Geographic ad on just about every topic that takes up the whole page. So much that I have to scroll down just to see a title. Can we get this removed? I know it'll probably be gone after the premiere anyway, so I'd also like to suggest not approving these kinds of ads in the future.

Giant sprinkles?

I making a giant Doughnut for my friend's Birthday; I'm going for something Homer Simpson would eat. I have everything figured out, but I really want some giant Sprinkles for it; ideally they would about one inch long with proportional width. People have already suggested Mike&Ikes; and that does not appeal to me. Ideally they would be flavorless sugar, just like real sprinkles, but don't let that hold you back. Thanks!

Yesterday my teched teacher showed us an old battery. It looks like a supersized 9-volt battery. it was like 7 inches long or something like that and had a voltage output of something like 75.5 (yes, 75 and a half) volts. I think it's used for old radios? What are these batteries called?

Giant Plastic Cup

Hey all, I couldn't find anyone who sells these on the Internet so I'd like to find the best way to make them. The cups would be about 2ft tall, and would look just like a plastic cup used at beer parties. I'm throwing my buddy his bachelor party and this would be hilarious! I was thinking maybe carving half the cup out of a Styrofoam block then, laying fiberglass in it. Then gluing the two pieces together. I'm not sure about drinking out of a fiberglass cup though. Thoughts on building this, or a link where I could buy something like this would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

Giant Gourd Case?

I like watching Naruto and one of probably everyone's favorite characters is Gaara. Gaara carries around a giant gourd on his back and I figured, why can't I? I thought about making a snowman out of beach balls as a mold and covering it with paper mache. Using that as a base I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to harden and waterproof the case. I thought about layering fiber glass or using plaster, but I'm not sure how heavy it would be. I also planned on making compartments, one on top for general storage and one on bottom with interchangeable parts like a speaker and a drink container with a tap. Eagerly open to suggestions. : )

Giant Hanging Light Bulb Lamp

I'm wanting to create a giant hanging light bulb lamp, similar to the ones I've uploaded, but I'm not really sure how I would go about doing it. I think I would make it out of plastic. So I would need to create a mold and then make two halves on a vacuum form, but I have no experience doing that. I'm not sure how I would make a mold of a giant light bulb, what materials to use and how to make it. I had thought about maybe cutting something out on a lathe but I don't have a lathe and it seems like it would have to be pretty big. I also thought about paper mache but I was afraid it might be too bumpy and light bulbs are smooth. Also once I have created the vacuum form plastic halves how I would attach them together with out having a large seam show.

Giant Jacob's Ladder Project

Many, a many moon, ago I found an old Popular Science Magazine that detailed how to make one --it was an old issue! Any ways, about 13 years ago when the builder's for our neighborhood left, I took the flag poles from the front office with the intent of making an enormous Jacob's Ladder. Well, cleaning out some brush I found them again and want to make it again. I am sure the transformer will have to be huge but I am willing to go forth on this project. Does anyone here have any experience on making a giant one?

Giant Citroen DS transformer

Perhaps you've seen the Citroen transformer commercials like this one: In the March 2007 issue of Wired, a real-life Citroen transformer, built by Amorphic Robot Works with help from Squid Labs (particularly Corwin and Geo), got a nice, one-page writeup. I've included the page here, and you can also check out some more pictures here. I remember Corwin and Geo sweating quite a few bullets as they painstakingly took the initial idea, put it into CAD, animated it, checked for collisions, and finally did a safety analysis all on a tight deadline.

Giant Slip 'n' Slide?

Hey Guys     I'm graduating high school in two weeks and my friend and I were talking about something to do the day after finals. I brought up doing a Slip n Slide down a nearby sledding hill. I found a site that has some basic information on the hill. It's 200-300 feet long and has a 60 degree slope. Yeah pretty steep haha. So here's what I need to know: What is a good material for this slide that will hold together but is still relatively cheap? Tarps were the original idea but I was told menards may have large rolls of plastic you can roll down a hill. What is the best combination to get the slide slippery? We dont have access to water so we'll be bringing just enough in garbage cans to wet it down. So what kind of soap or lubricant is best for the slide? It would help if it didn't burn afterwards! Thanks for the help in advance. Picture of the hill in winter  3.bp.blogspot.com/_ymkfNB3shbw/R1sBuKwdScI/AAAAAAAAAUU/JD8auciBxMM/s400/sled22.jpg

Giant Mobile Pipe Organ!

Howdy! For those of you who've been around for a while you might remember me as one of Instructables' interns. I had the awesome privilege of being published in The Best of Instructables for my Guitar Hero controller hack. I'm currently working on a big project and would love your help. I've been nominated for an award through The Fun Theory. The proposal is to create a pipe organ, called the Anywhere Organ, in which each pipe is connected to an air supply via a flexible hose. This allows the pipes to be installed with special care and attention to any space, creating a unique instrument whose character is an aspect of that space. The system is devised around Processing with midi signals coming in from a keyboard and being sent out to an Arduino to control the pipes. A lot of the decision of what project gets the grant is your opinion and your votes. If you like the idea I'd love your support. Take a look at my proposal here. Vote for it with the little blue dots below the comments. They work just like the star rating system on Youtube. Thank you all for listening and have fun making. If this project goes through you know I'll be documenting all the cool stuff I discover here. Matthew Borgatt/bofthem/gianteye sinbox.org
