For christmas I got a 4 channel GT-3386 helicopter. After battling it with my brothers hellicopter snapped the guards off the side fan and now it is unstabe. I could not find a spare part but after watching a review on my helicopter he called it a Z008 instead of GT-3386. So I searched online that number and found I could get spare parts that looked the same. Would Z008 parts fit on a GT-3386 helicpoter? or at least the side fan guards.

I've wanted to acquire the training of a Marine Scout Sniper for a while, but decided against it. I read and found out that me getting a chance for Sniper School were pretty small, and that I'd rather not spend a majority of my military career on a boat with the Navy. (No offense intended to either the Navy or Marine Corp.) Recently, I discovered the Army offers something similar. (ASI B4) Even If I wasn't able to get that training, I would still (probably) be Infantry, which isn't half bad. How does Marine Basic differ from Army Basic? How does Marine Sniper School differ from the Army School? Are they the same? How many schools are available for military use in the US? What is the washout rate for the Benning School? What is the psych evaluation like? How is GT score (I assume from the ASVAB,) calculated? Is there a certain AIT I would have to pass to be eligible for Sniper School?

Recently, a family member was trowing a non-functional Samsung Star away, but I kept it. There were two things broken: the side-buttons, that aren't really that necessary; and the touchscreen, which, even though it's pretty much indispensable, can easily be replaced for around 15$. Now, my question is, is it worth replacing it? I have searched quite a lot, but most instructables involving smartphones I find end up mentioning Android, and Android apps (specially arduino instructables), and so I'm not particularly sure this phone would be good for that. I don't want to use it as my phone, so the smartphone cases/holders/stands instructables aren't (by themselves) useful, in this situation. That being said, if you know of any (good?) instructables either about or using smartphones that could be done with a Samsung Star, please link me to them, I will be very thankful.

So, somehow my computer running Vista & a 8500 GT thinks it has DirectX 11, and I'm trying to figure out how that works. It's even an nVidia card, they don't even have cards or drivers for Dx11 out. I just ordered a Radeon HD 5770 for the Dx11 support and I'm feeling a bit cheated (not a big ATI fan). It'd sure be peachy if I could somehow run Dx11 games on my nVidia card (not that a 8500 GT could handle it, but perhaps a GTX 260). It's probably just some sort of wacky glitch with the frontend and I don't ''really'' have Dx11, but you never know... Anywho, anyone have an inkling what's up with this?

So I have two 8600 GT's in SLI, and lately I've noticed that the second one was running a bit hot. So I reapplied the thermal paste with some AC5 I have lying around. However, I accidentally got some on/around some of the extremely small circuitry next to the GPU processor. I cleaned it off the best I could with rubbing alcohol, and everything seems to work fine, except I've been noticing some artifacts in my games that weren't there before. I'm wondering if I might have caused a short circuit by bridging some connections with the thermal paste, which would then cause the artifacts. It is the conductive kind after all :(. So is this a plausible conclusion, or would a short circuit have already fried my card? Any other ideas as to what's causing the artifacts?

Meh, I was on a building spree and kept morphing a gun until I eventually came to this. After I was all done, I finally realized that I pretty much wasted my time because I accomplished nothing. Meh, it's a cool and different gun nonetheless, but it's nothing to get hyped over either. I was bored so I made a video for it anyways seeing how I haven't done that in a while. I've got a old Hp e-vectra (p3-633 with about 128Mb Ram) that I'd like to convert into a car-MP3 player with some video capabilities. The input rating is 19v DC with about 3 amps. I know that the alternator outputs about 14v at normal running speed, but how can I gt the 19v I need for the pc? By the way, the current power adaptor is dead, so I can't install an inverter to upscale the voltage to 120v. Thanks a lot! Le-SID

I've been wanting to build a Stargate helmet for a very long time but there was no way I could spend the cash to sculpt one in clay and do a fiberglass casting in a silicone mold so I had to improvise by using cardstock, paper mache and foam. I really wasn't going for screen accuracy as this is intended to be a costume helmet instead of an accurate replica. When I set out to build this I wanted it to be light weight, low cost and most importantly I wanted it to move. I still have quite a bit of work left to do- I still need to add the glowing eyes and do some filling, sanding and detail work plus paint. Watching it move for the first time was just awesome. :) <br>

Sometimes my computer glitches and I am not able to click on anything that has to do with the windows explorer process (desktop icons, taskbar programs, etc.) I have tried ending the explorer.exe process, but i cant start it back up again because starting explorer.exe opens an explorer window (my computer, my docs, etc.). The only way to fix this is by restarting. Does anyone know how to prevent this? The laptop I'm on is a Dell XPS L501X (i5 460M, 4GB ram (2x 2GB) NVIDIA GeForce GT 425M (1GB)) I am running Windows 7 home premium 64-bit EDIT: This problem got weirder...Now it happens less frequently, but the problem goes away if I open Revo Uninstaller (maybe because the UAC message refreshes the explorer process?). Does anyone know if that is the reason?

So I was tinkering with the rear suspension of my new GT LTS bike, where I'm going to fit a monster 8.5x2.5 Fox RP shock in place of the standard 5.25x1 shock. When tightening it back up, I learned the meaning of "the right tool for the right job" I used a torx driver instead of a hex key, and it snapped inside. At this point, I don't know how to handle it. I've tried all unobtrusive methods that I know of. Melted hot glue, magnet, banging on the opposite side with a center punch and hammer.. nothing freed it. Problem is it's twisted, and that's holding it in. I figured i'd ask the pros for advice. Picture attached. I'm thinking I may have to drill it out, tap it with a left hand thread, screw that in, and screw the messed up bolt out. Then my only problem is finding a replacement.

In a thread in the Green group, AnarchistAsian and I were discussing his coil guns. I posed the question of what range he could get, and he asked me to go through the physics derivation. Here it is, simplified to require just algebra and trig. The kinetic energy of the projectile E = ½mv2, gives v = sqrt(2E/m) as the speed at launch. Let θ be the angle at which you launch (θ=0° is horizontal, θ=90° is straight up). Then you can decompose the speed into two components: vh = v cos(θ) is the horizontal speed,vv = v sin(θ) is the vertical speed.Gravity only pulls vertically, so the projectile's vertical speed will be slowed down until it reaches its maximum altitude, then it will fall back until it hits the ground. The horizontal speed will remain constant until it hits the ground and stops. To figure out the range, you need to know the time t that the projectile flies before it hits the ground; then the range is just R = vhtEnergy conservation guarantees that it's downward speed at the end is equal to its original upward speed, just with a change of sign. That also means that the total flight time of the projectile will be half going up and half going down. Once you determine how long it takes to reach the top of its flight, you're done; just double that answer :-)In the vertical direction, the maximum heightH = vvt - ½gt2(you need calculus to derive this result). From energy conservation, the initial kinetic energy in the vertical direction, Ev = ½mvv2 must equal the potential energy at the top of the flight, Pv = mgH:mgH = ½mvv2H = ½vv2/gSubstitute this on the left hand side of the trajectory expression,½vv2/g = vvt - ½gt2vv2 = 2gvvt - g2t2vv2 - 2gvvt + g2t2 = 0(vv - gt)2 = 0vv = gtSo, t = vv/g = v sin(θ)/g is the time to reach maximum height. Double that as discussed above, and you get the range R = 2 sin(θ) cos(θ) v/g.Work out the angle that gets you maximum range by just plugging in different angle values and finding the one that is biggest.

Hi Guys, Just new here... don't know if i posted this in the right forum topic so i'm open to any corrections and guidance if you can give me ... I'm in my last year in Computer Engineering and one of my project proposals is the Smartphone controlled Electric Fan. The idea is basically that i have control over the movement of the electric fan, if I want it to face left or if I want it to face right and so forth. I have a Samsung GT-15530 phone. This is what i plan to use for this project. I plan on making a program that can be installed into the phone, for Android of course.] The program displays the controls to the fan. Another function i want to put into this is that the electric fan will be able to track where the phone is (and the owner of the phone is as well) and automatically face itself towards the direction of where the phone(owner) is. So basically: The program displays - Left Button, Right Button, and Automatic Follow Button Wireless medium - Bluetooth so the question: Can I do this on a Arduino?

Having just rescued my nice GT from my parents' place, my old junker bike is now surplus to requirements. (I like to have a "spare" bike, but now I have three bikes it's literally a fifth wheel. And sixth.)I've wanted to build an electric bike or a recumbent for a long time, but despite fiddling with bikes for a while I'm still just a competent novice. A competent novice with very limited tools, in fact. Therefore I'm looking for a project like this uber-simple electric-assist (incomplete) or the no-weld recumbent. If anyone knows of any other projects like these, I'd like to see them.Pictures of the bike to follow- it's a fairly generic short-frame mountain bike, probably intended for dirt jumping as it's got a short geometry, thick downtube and a low seat/short seat tube. The front fork is a "suspension" fork with about 1" of travel and too much preload to be any use on roads, everything else is standard.
