Who plays guitar?

Well all of you welcome to my little group, heres our first topic, Should there be an instructible about how to create an amplifier? I think so because they are always expensive to buy, to build one though would be fun as well as useful, now you tell me and everyone else your opinion.

Phone apps are creeping more into the musical space. Famous musicians have been seen using cell phones with apps to play in their shows. Steffest has combined multiple phones into a guitar and can be seen here playing the results. Now I want to see him add an iPad for the guitar body and make the entire thing touchscreen. via Make

My son is building a guitar and has done a great job building the body an old teacher gave him a neck from an old guitar and we ordered a bunch of parts from a web site.Is there a specific distance there should be between the pick ups and bridge and neck? I have searched all over the net but have been unable to find any specifics. he has bought a set of dual humbuckers. any help would be appreciated I will send photo's as it progresses

Im in need of help. My friend has a bass guitar but no amp. And instead of buying one he asked me to figure out a way to let him just plug in his headphones. After glancing around at all the instructables for portable guitar amps I hadnt seen one for just plugging in headphones. SO, I'm asking here in hopes of someone else knowing where an instructable is for this, because I can't find one.

About five minutes ago one of my friends brother told me my friend was annoying him by playing his electric guitar at 7:30PM as loud as he can so it got me to thinking, to make headphones that work on a guitar it couldn't be as simple a swapping the jack right? if i made the cassete player amp instructable and just plugged normal headphones into that, the headphones would work so only the guitar player could hear it right? my music teacher told me that plugging headphones into an amp was a bad idea for some reason so im just using that to try and make headphones for an amp another way

My well-meaning parents bought me a half-size acoustic guitar as I was adding to my collection. Bad news is, it's useless. It not only has no adjustable truss rod but, as far as I can tell, no neck reinforcement whatsoever, so it's slowly turning itself into a slide guitar. The intonation is so far out that, despite all the useful guides, I despair of bringing it anywhere near something playable, even if I knew what key it was intended to be tuned to (it feels close at a G or an A, but it's still so far out it's crazy). Even if I could fix all of the above, the keys are so loose that three seconds of playing loosens the string anyway. Help! What can I use an unplayable guitar for? :D Should I strip it for parts? Should I turn that lovely sound box into a drum? Turn it into a table? I need inspiration! I'm the kinda gal whose favourite guitar was rescued from a sidewalk, so I don't want it to die; but despite its shape, it's not a guitar. :(

I am hoping to buy decent guitar as soon as I have the money. There are a few that I have looked at alot, but I am having a tough time deciding between them. The guitars? An Epiphone Wilshire ($400), a Fender Squier Jaguar ($300), and a Gretsch Resenator ($360) I would love to have any of the three, and Im interested in many types of music. The White Stripes, Primus, Jack White, Cage the Elephant, Nirvana, Cake, The Black Keys, Linkin Park, Pearl Jam, Tesla, Guns and Roses, and many more. I play both acoustic and electric and I am decent using a slide. Which would you choose? I hope to go to Guitar Center within a couple months to try them out. http://www.guitarcenter.com/Epiphone-Worn-1966-Wilshire-with-Tremotone-Electric-Guitar-106526072-i1819085.gc http://www.guitarcenter.com/Squier-Vintage-Modified-Jaguar-Electric-Guitar-107920662-i2518197.gc http://www.guitarcenter.com/Gretsch-Root-Series-G9200-Boxcar-Round-Neck-Resonator-107623480-i2370633.gc

Hello, I am finishing my electric guitar, and i wet sanded and everything, and i heard rumors that you use rubbing compound on the last bit to get it to look good. In the instructable by Gmoon, applying a mirror finish (by hand), it says that he used Rubbing compound, but people keep saying, "I think you mean POLISHING compound....", and i don't know which one to use. I have the guitar all dull looking from wet sanding, and i just need it shiny. What is your outlook on this? Thank you

Apologies to Wario, we've hijacked your original topic...So here's a new one that (might) stay on topic... Wario's OP: Well all of you welcome to my little group, heres our first topic, Should there be an instructible about how to create an amplifier? Hey, I thought if it's possible to add the electronics from a guitar pedal to the guitar itself. It would obviously take some space, but it didn't seem impossible to me. Any ideas, is this even a realistic idea? I must do some more research on how much place it would take and how to wire etc. Any help or thoughts are welcome!

Hi Folks, Measure from the fret side of the nut to the middle of the top of the 12th fret whatever distance that is, double it and thats the scale, for instance my tele is 12 3/4" so double it and my scale is 25.5 Also use this to set intonation from the middle of the top of the 12th fret in my case with the tele I would measure 12 3/4" to the top middle of the bridge....This is where you start you intonation from. Picture me playing lead with apache' 1979 Hendra 2000 in attendance

I am suggesting tutorials on the following. All passive components and prefereably vacuum tubes can be used to build the following circuits. Analog computers that are programmable and hopefully intellegent. with these you should process many signals at the same time. and instead of displaying results on an oscillscope, make a monitor and a gui. I have a theory for a power supply. I think it works im not technically able to build the entire circuit yet. It's all passive. its a passive AM radio that sends a 60 hz sine wave. then on the other end you have many many antennas attatched to a passive receiver circuit. because each antenna will induce an electric field from the air, you should be able to get lots more power out of the circuit than you put in. and because its antennas, its compact and light weight. And if you can figure it out, you can build plasma rockets too. I need some more information on how plasmas travel through an electric field. but you know if you want to, you can build cars, boats planes, houses, cookware, sensors, surveilance, recording studios, 3d printers etcetera in passive electronics and post tutorials on it. I am getting somewhat close to growing carbon based electronic components on a tree. I have some(a few) molecules in mind and I am starting to research and make progress on sequencing DNA. If you want this information it is simply yours. but I need analog flight simulators, spaceflight simulators, weather simulators that use chemistry and math to predict the weather, ocean simulators that simulate all of the bathymetry of the ocean to predict surf and erosion. aircraft designers. I have a motor that i am designing like the following. It only uses permanent magnets at the moment and it works similar to an alternator. If you can figure it out, you can build it too. I have an alternate way to make bearings by using cylindrical magnets(the kind with the hole in the middle) and one is attracting and one is repelling. this should be able to make it so that the magnets levitate and spin freely. Again if you want this information it is yours. YOu can also make analog computers compatable with software that exists today like linux. it is possible. it just takes some time and some thought. ANyhow anything you want make it wireless make it programmable and make it and post tutorials on it. I want EVERYTHING to be wireless from the computers to the recording studios to the rockets. ANyhow thanks and have fun and stuff and it might be fun and it would help everyone and would help your compnay to produce these tutorial but you know wireless guitars, wireless amps, wireless record players wireless cnc machines, wireless laser cutters wireless induction cooktops etcetera. you can even make a record player that instead of using that metal thing to vibrate, you can use like sonar. You know this is just some cool stuff to consider developing. The radio based power supply will work, it just needs some fine tuning and same with the motor, but yeah have fun and be easy with this stuff itll take a while. but you know if you build rockets, spin the rockets to create a strong electric field, but you know i could use tutorials on how plasmas move and accellerate through an electric field etcetera. and for god sake, build EVERYTHING!

So I really like this GH/RB Guitar case that looks like a coffin... but its super expensive, plus I don't care about me Rock Band controller as much as my real guitar. Its a really nice acoustic, but the case kinda sucks and definitely needs replacing... soo... I thought I would make one, after seeing the coffin guitar case I decided thet that looked pretty easy. So if anyone has any suggestions on how to do this fast and on a low budget that would be great... So I will try and get too it soon (but no promises) and I will keep you posted.

Does anyone know of a guide, or is making a guide, to make your guitar hero controller more like the rock band controller in the way it doesn't click when you "pluck" (?) it. you know flap the lil' tab. that would be so nice . it bugs the crap out of me.
