So what do those of us with old surround sound receivers with no HDMI inputs that we either don't want to part with because in every other way they are just awesome pieces of equipment or we simply can't afford to replace them do? It seems that no one sells an affordable, quality HDMI to RCA converter that can easily go between modern components like Blu-ray players and older receivers.  So what can we pirate one from and what would be the best way to do it? Ideally it would split out all the surround channels or convert to a single digital RCA cable.  I'm more concerned about sound, because TVs wear out and get replaced faster than receivers, so odds are we have an HDMI ready TV.  I don't object to video as part of the project, it just isn't necessary (for me).

Hi, At work I have an ultrasonic testing instrument that displays the signal on an LCD (640x480). I also have a HUD (head mounted display) that requires a HDMI input. The only way I can think of getting the 2 working is to put a camera over the display and send that to the HUD. Would anyone know of a way to connect something to the LCD ribbon directly and convert it to HDMI? Many thanks for any help provided.

I've kept my HDMI cable plugged into my AMD Radeon 7750 with updated graphics drives and it does display video. I have checked and it is enabled I have the software but it simply says that it is not plugged in. Everything is tight, and ready as it was before (Working too) so any problem you could think of? I think it might be hardware problems, my PC is from 2009 and I am afraid my system32 folder is messed up :[. The cable isn't damaged except it could be the small end that converts the cable into mini HDMI for my GPU. Please reply! :)

My dad bought this VGA to HDMI cable online, but I can't get it to work.  Does anybody have any suggestions?  I already tried searching for an extra display, and adding it as a projector on multiple tvs, but I don't know if we got ripped off or what.  

I have a dead newer laptop with a perfect 15.4" widescreen that would be a great second monitor. I just don't know if its possible to convert it over to a stand alone. Even HDMI would work I have the converter cables and what not.

Not sure how many people are away that some 3D TV's support Dual Play (converts the 2 player splitscreen from games to a Top Bottom 3D Image and has the option for the 3d glasses to only display the left or right eye images (player 1 or player 2) however many games i like to play are not splitscreen so i want to be able to input 2 consoles, and do the same so that input one plays for left eye and input 2 plays for right eye so far after looking around for ages, i havn't found anything that does this best idea i found it using 2 Hdmi input card on a PC and combineing them then output to TV but this is very annoying hopfully someone here knows of an easyer way, or a way i can work around this basicly i would think there would be something out there for this, for example to be used with displaying 2 cameras on a 3d display in realtime (thats kinda what i'm wanting to do just with games) Thanks

I have a HD touch screen AIO and a touch screen laptop and I want to turn the lcds into monitors, how can I add a dvi/hdmi/vga/display port to the lcd and link the touch screen too? specifics which may help Gateway ZX4300  LifeBook T4210 both computers are dead, new pc and want to get rid of these old ones but don't want to waste LCDs.

Hello, I am trying to connect the LCD from a Toshiba 4020 to a raspberry pi but i cannot find the pinouts of the video connector, and I cant find anything online about this laptop, does anybody know how to convert this connector to HDMI or would i need a converter? 

I picked up an Acer LCD monitor that has a fault in the panel. I've stripped the panel off and want to use the remaining LED-lit screen and diffusers as an illumination panel. The panel turns on fine, but when the control board senses that there is no video source attached, it shuts the backlight down. Is there a way of 'spoofing' an input (it has VGA and HDMI ports) so that the control board thinks a monitor is connected and keeps the backlight on?

I'm making something using the raspberry pi and I needed a small display.  So, I took the screen out of an old, broken 11" laptop, but the screen still works.  But I cant just plug the screen into the pi because there are different wires needed.  The laptop screen was connected with a video lcd cable and to connect to the pi you need hdmi, a video wire, or if possible a usb connection.  So is there such a cable that could convert a lcd video cable to either hdmi or just a video input? I searched for one but found nothing.  Thanks

Hi, I have just bought LG 47GA6400 TV but I damaged LCD screen (CRD31092201) when I was assembling it.  I couldn't find low cost LCD to replace and I started wondering how I can reuse any remaining parts of this TV. Actually there are many people like me wondering what to do with dead Smart TV. Few years ago you would receive a standard advice – throw it away. But today Smart TV parts are powerful and with your help might be re-used again... Here is an example: My LG TV has mainboard with dual core CPU,  Google TV inside and cool remote controller with QWERTY keyboard and tons of applications.... I wish I could reuse it with other, not so smart LCD TV I have.  The only problem, how to connect Smart TV mainboard to a HDMI.  It doesn't have HDMI out, it has only input ports and one LCD interface cable.... Is it a crazy idea to convert LCD interface back to HDMI or VGA ? Can you create an instructables to show how to do that ?

I'm in school, and I'm a bit of a geek.  Let me first tell you the existing setup, and the problem, so you don't suggest a non-viable answer.  I am running windows 8, with a 23" multitouch monitor on the hdmi output, and a 19" non touch widescreen on the vga.  This VGA, however, is not straight-thru.  It connects to a belkin KVM switch, to connect to both tower and laptop when its in there.  The 19" has only vga and dvi options for input.  The 23" touchscreen will take HDMI, VGA, or DVI.  The 32" monitor is a crt and only has coax and rca inputs.  When I am working on a project, I have my screens quartered and layered and still do not have enough space on the screens to see everything I need to.  I am using them as extended monitors rather than as duplicate or single-display only. I need to be able top take a USB output and bring it (through any necessary converters or cables) to the RCA input of the TV.  Any ideas anyone?  I don't have the money to buy a new monitor or tv or I wouldn't be asking.

I have broken Samsung plasma TV 50".  I don't want to trough it out, but use the inside circuit as video out put device. Use the FFC cable that goes to TV screen and convert it to round wire with HDMI/ S-video/ VGA outlet. So I can see that outlet in my projector and see the all TV cable channels and take a benefit of 2D to 3D conversion facilities of TV. I think that could be possible but I have not any experience of that.

Hi everybody, recently I hired a new ISP company (italy) with a SO AWESOME VOD TV service, like netflix and also live tv, , the app works very great and with a good quality, the problem it's only available for LG and SAMSUNG smartTV, no way to watch it on PC; mobile, chromcast.... So... i have 2 more Sony TV and a 4k Projector and i don't find a dam solution to watch this app on rather than buy another 2 LG/SAM tvs and throw the projector (which is not an option hehe) So I wonder if I  can just buy a broken LG/SAM TV (even a new one) and use the smart TV board as player, I think, it's pretty easy to just unattach the board and put a power supply, but i wonder what kind of video interface this board uses, I will need any kind of magical WHATEVER to HDMI converter, and also it need to have audio aswell  I read most of the TV use proprietary interface / connector to send image to the panel, the app it's compatible with more than 200 models from LG and Samsung, maybe you guys know the exact model i shloud find to "hack" the board in most easy way Thanks! 

I've got an old HTC EVO 4G, otherwise known as the PC36100.  I'm attempting to create a 1 to 1 display to connect directly to my computer for a cheap Head Mounted Disply.  I've attempted to use various wireless RDPs.  However, the lag while attempting to do ANYTHING is horrible.  So I attempted to find an app that would connect directly to the phone via USB.  I found two.  Neither of which I feel comfortable dropping money on with such poor reviews and trials that don't work. So finally, I decided why not just use the LCD directly.  No messing with the hardware limitations of the phone at all.  So I took the phone apart.  I got right down to the LCD itself and found that it has a 17-pin input.  But, I don't really know much about it beyond that.  I can tell you that the cable reads: Career 06 94V-0 <->2 C36_FPC REV A I even have a picture of it.  I think it's attached.  If not, I'll fix that. Essentially what I want to know is, what do I need to make it be a fully working LCD monitor for my computer.  I know I'll need a module to convert the signal from what it is now to HDMI or VGA whatever the case may be.  I also know I need power to the screen.  But, beyond that, I don't know where to look.  I've tried looking up the cable information, but I'm not getting great results.  Any help in the matter, would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

I could test the whole set up but would have run 1 usb cable, but that's a deal breaker for full wireless... If I had a old bluetooth mouse and knew how take its transmitter out, that work but a bluetooth usb adapter the would plug in the ar1100 board would be the thing I need.If someone would know how to remove the mouse transmitter and wire it to male usb plug I would be happy to buy it.
