Honda Rebels....

Hey, my Instructables friends I have been really looking into getting an 09 Honda rebel and I was wondering what I could do to improve efficiency, comfort, etc. There were no Instructables on this matter. Any and all ideas are appreciated, including solar power, led lights, whatever.

Is it possible to fit a charging coil to a pull start honda engine to charge a 12v battery?

Is it possible to fit only a charging coil to a pull start honda engine to charge a 12v battery without having to fit the whole electric start kit. I am wondering if this is the only thing needed to make it charge a 12v battery or are there other things in the kit that must be installed to charge a battery.

How do I replace worn out front struts on a 98 Honda Accord; and how much would it cost me? Answered

How do I replace worn out front MacPherson struts on a 98 Honda Accord; and how much would it cost me?Note; it seems I can use pre-assembled Monroe "Quick Struts"; would I still need the spring clamps if I us a quick-strut? I've heard this could be potentially dangerous; how would I minimize danger? Other things; would I need to bleed the brakes after? ( I assume yes) What's the basic idea behind that? I would need an alignment I'm going to assume, from what I hear, I can't do that at home - but can I get it "semi-right" to drive it to the shop? I have most of the tools available aside from a torque wrench. If I get a Monroe quick-strut, what other things would I replace? Any bushings/bearings/stuff that would be good to change at the same time? Personal experience, Changing oil/fixing radiator leaks/doing basic maintenance on cars (brake pads/rotors, spark plugs/ distributor cap etc) The easy stuff basically. Honda quoted me at 800, and independent quoted me at 600. I can buy those quick-struts for 180 a pop.

Ok a question for you science ponderers: The Honda Clarity; it is a hydrogen car, what do you think the impact will be to the envrionment?

Sure, it burns hydrogen and expels water (vapor).   IF this became the "car of the future" could we be possibly creating an over abundance of water on the planet (not that WE would notice, but our grandchildren might)?  What are your thoughts on this?  Honda Clarity

The real gas guzzler: Car that turns hydrogen into electricity hits the road

Car that turns hydrogen into electricity hits the roadIntroducing the family car that runs on hydrogen and pumps out only pure water from its exhaust pipe.Honda's FCX Clarity is the world's first production hydrogen-powered 'fuel cell' car - with its own onboard power station which creates electricity to drive its motor. It has a range of 280 miles and a top speed of 100mph, yet emits no harmful pollution. And it is about to become the latest 'must-have' accessory for the Hollywood set wanting to show off their green credentials.Just the thing at a time when oil prices are rocketing to record highs. The only drawback? Finding somewhere to fill it up.The FCX is the result of nearly 20 years of research and many prototypes by the Japanese firm.It is being launched first in California where Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has spearheaded the creation of a chain of hydrogen filling stations - as part of his environmental drive for cleaner cars. The first five customers include movie actress Jamie Lee Curtis. Honda claims the FCX offers three times better fuel efficiency than a traditional, petrol-powered car.The highly explosive lighter-than-air gas - which once kept the ill-fated Hindenburg airship in the air before its fiery end in the 1930s - is kept safely in a pressurised tank in the boot.Honda plans initially to produce about 70 of the eco-cars a year. They are initially available only to lease for around £300 a month including insurance - equivalent to a purchase price of £24,000.But Honda admits that the billions it has spent on research means that the true cost would be more like £1million per car.British motorists will have their first glimpse next month at the British International Motor Show in London's Docklands. Although there are price issues, its great to see there's development of this idea. I hope this sort of car is available for the "common man" at a "common price" soon.......

2002 Honda Odyssey power door mechanism in 1997 Chrysler Town&Country?

There's this 2002 Odyssey that's broken down, and once it's fixed, it'll face life as a work van. However, once it's fixed, then the power doors will be disconnected. However, I want to save those power doors for a 1997 T&C but i want to know how to install it to work like they did on the Honda. There's similar Chryslers that have power doors but since power doors didn't show up till late 1998 then those ones are aftermarket OR from other vans. HOW TO DO THIS INSTALLATION?

GY6 Questions?

I bought a 150cc go kart a while back, and want to take it sand duning. Problem is, it doesnt have enough power on sand. The model is the KM-2150R.  I found out that the engine is a clone of the 150cc Honda GY6. I recently got offered to buy a 250cc honda scooter with a genuine Honda GY6 that is 250cc. Could I put the engine from the scooter in my kart? They use the same transmission, and look very similar, if not the same from the outside.

Building a motorcycle seat from scratch

Being an insatiable tinkerer, I an planning an exensive remodel on a '92 Honda 100. It's one of those all-plastic dirtbikes, and frankly, I'm too big for it in its current configuration. Not a problem I have often, but man is it annoying! The price was right, and I needed a functional sled, so here we are. I'm in the midst of designing/modifying and buiding a tank for it that is bigger and metal. As such, the current seat has to go. I don't want to hack up the seat because I'd like to have the option to return to stock. I would like to put a seat on it that is reminiscent of 70s Hondas, just new and on the cheap. Does anyone have any experience/ideas with building a seat like this? I've got a lot of foam (but probably not the "right" sort), and a masters degree in duct tape upholstery. I've made all-metal seatpans before, but these were aways solo saddles. Any tips/tricks/technquies that might make my life easier in this endeavor?

Ran Honda with E brake on (new driver)? Answered

Oops! Just got home today from school and realized that I drove home with the E brake on (around 10 miles). Should I be worried about this? Its mostly 35mph the way home, with 55 for around 3 miles. I noticed no burning rubber smell or anything that would indicate burning (but the windows were closed). I have done this occasionally on the driveway, but usually notice. The car is a Handa Civic, 2003 I think.

1970 Honda CT70 LED Headlight & USB charger idea

Hi guys, New here but not to projects and tinkering in general. Mostly im a mechanical type guy and not to electrically inclined. I have a 1970 Honda CT70H Trail bike, I would like to replace the current headlight with a single or multipul LED set, also id like to split it and run a USB charger when the headlight is not runnning. My plan to acomplish this (my very simple in a perfect world plan) is to take the LED set from a small cheap flashlight that uses 4 batteries in order to get the proper voltage, and use the same leads the go to the headlight. Currently the Honda has a dimmer switch which I was planning on using for my switch between light and usb power. For the usb I was going to use a car cig-lighter type charger and but i know a car is a 12 volt system however i assume because usb chargers use 5volts that a car charger has a 5volt regulator in place? Included is a ct70 wiring diagram link, help would be great http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/dratv_2197_243290703 Thanks all

BBC runs Instructable-powered car?

Some of you will have seen the Honda that runs on trash. Jimmason built a gasification plant into the back end of the Honda, and ran the car on the gas produced. A classic Make, which the BBC have recreated, in the form of a car that runs on used coffee grounds. The video is here (click and scroll down to the second video) - it won't embed from the BBC. No sign of a credit for the source, but I do know that the chap in the video knows this site exists, since I tried to persuade him to join. What do you reckon - coincidence or plagiarism?

Can someone suggest a solar panel? Answered

I will be charging a 12v 14.5AH motorcycle battery. The reason is that my charging system died and parts are more than 2 weeks out. I live in a state where a headlight is a requirement any time of the day and it really takes a toll on my usable range. So my short-term solution is to attach a temporary solar panel on it and leave the bike in the sun. I would plug it in and attach it when I was not riding so mounting it is not a problem. The panel needs to fit into a backpack and be fairly light (under 10 lbs).

Does a 2-stroke Honda CB 100 NE engine need a battery to run? Answered

I have a Honda 2-stroke CB100NE (1018034) engine which I am trying to get working. This is the first time Ive worked with an engine so my knowledge is quite fragmented. So far the engine will turn over using the kickstart but I've been unable to get a spark. Documentation for this specific engine seems to be quite limited but I found a service manual claiming that the generator goes into the battery which then drives the spark plug via the coil, points etc. However, a friend told me that the spark plug can be run directly off the generator/magneto, and since the engine isn't in a motorbike which would require lights and a horn the battery isn't necessary. I'm also not sure how the rectifier plays into this if I'm not having a battery - is the rectifier only there to facilitate charging of the battery? So my question is, does my engine need a battery to power the spark plugs and if so, do I need to use the rectifier? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
