I have a flickr account, which I use rarely, but it just got snotty at me for going over 200 images - they want me to pay to make them all visible. 200 images? Strikes me as a tad stingy. After all, my image library here has nearly 1300 shots in it. So, can anybody recommend a half-decent image-hosting site that will let you store a lot more images, for free, and is easy to use?

Ok, well, I was interested in creating my own little website (not sure what it should contain), but I need a web host. Im 13, so I dont feel like paying for a host, the instructables on how to create a website have not been helpful in this topic, so, i was wondering if any of you know of any reliable free web hosts. Also, i wonder if the domain "www.djradio.org" is taken or something... the .com and .net ones are already taken, although djradio.net is for sale..............

And it needs to allow illegal software like warez and such and please don't ask why.
I've somewhat successfully created a virtual domain in xampp. But for that I had to edit the hosts file in my client pc. So is it possible to create a virtual domain without editing the hosts file? Maybe by adding the list of ips and domains in the xampp server and adding its ip in the client dns? I searched a lot finding nothing helpful, so I'm asking here.

Hi! I'm looking into starting a website to distribute some freeware that I've been developing. Does anyone know a place I can get a free domain name and hosting? It doesn't have to be very large, just big enough for a site. I can manage the downloads from other places. I've looked into a bit, but so far I've turned up nothing. Can anyone help? Thanks!

So, I've been trying to upload my video instructable for a good half hour now. I've checked other youtube topics and I have tried using the new AND the old embed code. Neither work. Whenever I go to save the site just completely stops working and I get the "null" url. I then have to go back to the main instructables site manually where a "unsupported video host" sign pops up. Any ideas? Help would be much appreciated.

I have a Nook Color that I've installed cm7 onto and I saw that with the Nook Tweaks app usb host mode was possible. So I immediately ordered a micro usb to female usb adapter which recently arrived upon its arrival i tried a few things and they worked fine but as I read on xda (forums where the nook development started) it could only supply 100mA current which is barely enough for a mouse and keyboard. What I was wondering was would a cable (possibly with a diode to stop a short circuit) that had a 5v 500mA power supply attached work to supplement the lack of power? I do know that I could just use a powered hub but I was looking for something that could (theoretically) be battery powered. Thanks, fusorx

Hello there, I am trying to put together a mesh topology of arduinos. I have never used them interconnected and now I am hoping to be able to put them together in a way that they may power up and communicate when plugged to one another. so I need them to receive both power and data connection from the one previously connected. for that, i think i need each one of them to be able to act as both host and client. am I correct? would anyone know more, and willing to help? I very much appreciate any feedback. Thank you, Karim.

Hi,So this year I joined a non-profit organization called The Student Free Press Group. It distributes a newspaper called The Independent about once every 2 months or so. Here is a little blurb about them. The Independent is a student-run, student-owned, student newspaper and non-profit organization. It is important for us to emphasize "student" because we are in no way affiliated with the school district or Memorial High School.Philosophically, The Independent strives to be an open forum for students to express their views without oversight from school or governmental authorities. While news articles are required to be objective, editorial opinions are not censored; inclusion in the paper is based upon the quality of the writing rather than the nature of the opinion. The Independent serves the community not only by providing a forum for expression but also by giving students an opportunity to develop skills in writing, reporting, leadership, and independent initiative by becoming writers or editors of the paper. The Independent was born during the 1990-1991 school year after a censorship dispute between the administration and the student-edited school newspaper, The Sword and Shield. The administration, once a staunch supporter of student journalism, began to exercise the powers granted to it by recent Supreme Court decisions and sought to review each issue prior to printing. After encountering fierce opposition to publishing a news article revealing sub-par minority grade point averages at the school, all but one member of the editorial staff of the official school newspaper resigned in protest and, the following year, began publishing The Independent. Since that time, The Independent has gained the readership and the respect of students, faculty, and administrators. So here is my task. I need to create a professional looking website for the newspaper. I'm already have a domain but I am looking for a good, free hosting provider. So I am looking for a free web host that will give us a lot of space and a decent amount of bandwidth. In return I will allow them to put ads on the site and in the newspaper which is distributed to about 1,300 people. So I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in sponsoring the site/newspaper. If anyone knows anyone who would be interested please give a link or there email. Thanks for your time,Joe Rowley

Hi everyone, I am a long-time knex gun user and Instructable maker, you probably don't remember me because I am using this new account and my old one has been inactive for years. More to the point, i am going to hold a knex gun instructable contest not run by the site administrators. Because of this, the only reward is fame and glory among the knexers' What you need to do to be in this contest is make an instructable of a knex gun and give the link to it on this forum. You will have to design a gun that you do not cock, has no block trigger, and has a very easy instructable. A few suggestions for this design are listed below. Technical requirements: ~ The gun must have no block trigger ~ The gun must shoot any rod ranging from the smallest size to the second largest - red suggestions for making a far better gun than anyone else: ~ make as many extra / removable components as possible ~ make a hopper or way to have multiple shots at one time in the gun ~ use as few and as simple foreign objects as you can get your hands on ~ Make the gun with less than 250 pieces ~ Make the instructable as good as you can, after all, even if you get the gun, you have to show it here!

Hello everyone, As the title suggests I am trying to host my own website by using the device combo mentioned in the title. So far I managed to create a DNS hostname free from www.dyndns.com mostly because of my Dynamic IP address. I also managed to get the router to update the IP in dynds' database. The problem is that whenever I type in the hostname in the addressbar the router's login page shows up instead of the website (and I do understand why this is). The website itself is stored on the flash drive connected to the router via USB. I think that by typing ftp://my-hostname.dyndns.org/path-to-the-html-file-on-the-flashdrive I can view the website but this is not very easy to remember so I doubt any person wanting to visit my site is going to remember the path. Is there a way to make my website show up when typing the hostname instead of the router's login page? And if not can I atleast, in some way, redirect people to the html file?

I am going to make a website over winter break with videos steamed from youtube. I have been looking at this web host http://www.fatcow.com. I am on a budget and I can get a year from them for $44. In prior website experiences, cheap hosts I have went with made my site incredibly slow to load. I hadn't looked for these stats before and they weren't made visible. Since I want to stream videos and I don't want to deter potential viewers, I wanted to make sure the next host I went with was fast. I went to their live chat and they told me: "We have 2gbps network connection with our ISP. The RAM speed of our servers is 667 MHz." I want to know if this will be sufficiently fast to stream youtube videos, and how it compares to other web hosts. Additionally, I would like to know if the web host is any good, or if you have personal recommendations that are affordable and have high speed.

I was just wondering. For people who are not able to make it to the Instructables events like the one in San Francisco, could one of us here host our own event or a sort of get together of people here at Instructables. For example I live in Kansas and would it be ok if I organized that for people in this area. I'm not saying I will but I'm asking this for if others want to host one in their area as well. If thats alright of course.

A group I'm in has set goals for this year, and one of them is to host a fashion show. We know where to host it, how to get a store to lend us clothes, how to set up the room, music etc., but we are puzzled as to what happens in a fashion show- what happens first, last etc. Any brochures from the store? Does an employee have to come out and comment? If you've ever been to one, please describe it as best as possible.

The US Army recently held a mad scientist conference. I couldn't make this up if I tried. I wasn't invited, so I will share my predictions here. I predict that in the future, warfare will involve holiday specific pneumatic cannons and victory will be determined based on the amount of holiday spirit and cheer you can forcefully spread to your adversary. Seriously, were any of you invited to this?

I would love this site to have a login-sign up system, and maybe ftp upload as well.
