I have an HP Jornada 720 handheld PC. It is about ten years old but it is in brand new condition and I would like to be able to do more with it. I would like to be able to add some more software to it. Primarily I would like a piece of software that lets me view PDF files. I would also like to add some simple games to it 9all I have right now is solitare which gets real boring real quick). I would also be interesed in any other aplications that will work with it. Hello, i recently received a new HP notebook laptop and it keeps making these strange beeping noises. it has also started crashing when i turn it on and only sometimes, hates the tabs and internet. I've looked for any viruses by scanning the computer fully but nothing appeared? what should i do?

I have an HP keyboard, the CTRL key I used to use to be able to clk mouse on web page drop down box of multiple items , hold CTRL key and select multiple items from box. Hello, I have a HP Smart AC/Auto/Air Combo Adapter, and today it began to fail. To get it to work I have to shake the adapter itself mulitple times, and then it starts to work, and works without a problem. It has only begun to do this occasionally, but it is getting really annoying. Does anyone know what could be wrong with it? Thanks!

Hi all, I have an old HP tc1100 whose motherboard/graphics has pretty much given up the ghost, but it seems like there must be something better to do with it out than toss it in the trash. I was thinking about pulling it apart and mounting my iPad where the current screen is, and trying to replace the keypad with with a bluetooth keyboard, then maybe steampunk it a bit.. Do you have any other ideas that may be a bit more interesting? Bear in mind, I am not wanting to salvage the computer for working bits (unless it would be feasible, but from people I have spoken to, I would say that fixing it is beyond the question), so any creative ideas most welcome. Will do something similar to this i-ble if I can't think of anything else.. I haven't posted an instructable on here before (despite being a member for two years), so this may well be my first :)

I have just got this little pocket computer, and I am not satisfied with the old windows mobile system on it. That's why I want to install Linux on it, but I haven't been able to find an instruction that would be possible for a software newbie like me.  It's a HP iPAQ rx3700 and I don't care about which Linux edition that is installed on it. All I know is that I have to put some files on the SD card I have - put it in the device - and boot Linux on the device. I hope that it isn't an impossible task :-) PS. After removing all visible case screws I still can't gain access to the inside of my laptop. The DC power socket is intermittent and I need to replace it. The top and the bottom sections will partially separate but still held somewhere. Don't want to force it open. Can any one help please.

The screen on my hp ze4900 lap top is very dark. I can still see it a little but not very much. Is my bulb or is my inverter going out or is it something else. I did not hear a hum and I am not sure about a red glow. I can still see the screen a little but it is very difficult to see. If I shine a light on it I can see it or if it is very dark I can kind of see it. I know there is a "how to take the bulb out and fix it in instructables" but I just wondering if it might be another thing? Also, how do you take the screen apart on this model? Thanks, Carmitsu

Hello everybody , i am facing a problem that my laptop hp pavilion dv7 cannot access internet through my wifi about a week ago  it's connected to my wifi router but no internet , the strange that the wifi is working on my mobile and another laptop and my laptop also connect internet to any other wifi router except this one :( .. i tried reconfiguartion my router and removing it from networks and re login and it's all doesn't work .. else tried to removed the driver and reinstall and no thing happen ,, hope any one help me and thanks in advance 

Hello boys and girls, this weekend my trusty laptop had failed on me.  After cursing up a storm and mashing every button possible i finally found the "restore" CDs of my laptop hd partion.  I got it restored to factory fresh and was ready to rock and roll when i get an error yesterday stating that "SMART" has detected iminate drive failure or some crap like that.  After searching i uploaded new firmware for the hd hopeing it would go away.  It didn't.  I ran a self test and it said bad Hard drive. My question is as follows.  How hard is it to replace a laptop hard drive (other than switching out drives), if I burn a copy of the restore CDs will it install windows on the new hard drive or do i have to send it to HP/ buy windows At this point i am not worried about loosing any data (done did that twice already) just want a computer that doesnt pop that error message everytime i reboot. My laptop is a Compaq Presario F700 and i had it for almost 3 yrs to the day

I am on an older computer, older CPU, older processor, etc., but it's run perfectly for about 10 years now. Suddenly, it shut itself down and started up again. Now, my computer is incapable of starting basic programs (all of which on Steam) that ran perfectly before. The computer will display the hourglass and the app shadow, like it's soon going to open, for about 1/5 of a second, then it reverts back to nothing. I waited 40 minutes -- not seconds, forty full MINUTES -- for Fallout Shelter (one of the most basic Steam games in existence) to load before I gave up. My sister's friend decided to hit a bunch of buttons, and I'm pretty sure that it screwed SOME stuff up, but it seems unlike such a trusty computer to suddenly give up on me. I have, like, 40 anti-virus, anti-malware, etc. apps on this computer, so I doubt anything will get through all of the sieves undetected. Also, the computer-saur that I'm using is an HP Pavilion Elite HPE-400f PC with a single-core, 3.0 GHz processor, and a relatively new graphics card. So, give it to me straight, doc; is she gonna make it? What can I do?

The plug for my HP laptop's AC/DC adapter has a loose connection, so I am using my old Compaq adapter.  All the specs are the same; 65w, 18.5v, and 3.5a, except for the input amps, 1.7 on one and 1.6 on the other (probably just because of efficiency).   The plugs are the same.  I just wanted to double check.  Is it okay to use the Compaq(actually says HP on it) instead of the HP one? The keybord on my laptop suddenly started to type wrong characters and combinations of them. For example the first line of characters (qwertyuiop[]) on my keyboard does not to type the right characters but other ones

This  is an older scanner, but there was nothing wrong with it when my old computer broke down, and I used it a lot.  HP does not provide updates for older scanners. I have heard that it can be updated without HP's help, but I'm not that experienced. I have installed the scanner program--still have the program CD-- but when I try to use it, it tells me that the scanner is being accessed by another program.  It also tells me that it has stopped working. I'm trying to find out how much i can safely overclock my computer because it runs at 1.5GHz and for games such as Portal, DDO, and BF3 it requires just a little more to run games smoothly. I have an HP WebOS TouchPad and the Power adapter has died. I do not want to buy the same changer since it's the 3rd one that has stopped working. Would anyone design the power adapter electronic circuit for me? Also note that if I try any other changer that might have a lower amperage it will not change. So, I have this new HP Sprout that I totally wasn't expecting. It's got a large touchscreen and this cool projector-scanner-touchmat combo that should be really useful for... something. The first thing I actively want is to be able to create files for my laser cutter (running Lasercut5.3), just by drawing with fingertips or stylus.  In my head, I see a version of Inkscape that works on the touchmat, but only responds to the stylus (to save weird lines from knuckles, elbows...).  I have Inkscape downloaded, but it won't work with the touchmat. Second, it would be nice to start learning how to create are actually 3d already, that could then become lasercut-able or 3d printable. Again, it would be nice to use the full potential of the machine, so what software would you recommend? Third... what?  have you got any cool ideas? On top of all this is the consideration of cost.  Free would be nice - if you are a software developer, I don't mind having a go with Beta products (I'm known for breaking code, so if it can survive me...).

I am going to update this in about another day. To all the people out there, and there are literally millions, I have the very best fix for broken hinges on a lap top. My lap top is an HP Pavilion zv6000, but I understand this is very similar to many other models or makes. I have read many frustrating concerns about this INFERIOR hinge design and I agree the manufacturers should foot the bill to repair them. Of course they wont because it would cost them millions of dollars. I just wanted to let everyone know I will submit a full text explanation and some good pictures. The method requires the normal care as you are handling delicate electronics. The time to do the repair is no longer than 24 hours and most of this is to let things setup. The cost for me was $9 and if you do not have the little extras, I know it would never cost more than about $20. The thing I like about this repair, which I painstakingly studied, is that it preserves all of the components, you do not loose the screen or damage anything. I would even suggest you do this fix even if your hinges are good because it will prevent them from ever breaking. I promise you. So please stand by for the update. I installed Stardock Mycolor for my Windows 7 Starter, and it's worked fine for the last 6 months. One day I turn my computer on and find my theme back to the classic windows theme. I have tried uninstalling and installing Mycolor several times with success, but when I attempt to apply a theme my computer won't react. It's like it applys it halfway then reverses the whole thing. what could be the problem? - Henni

I have had one of these for the longest time and I really know very little of what it is used for.  It seems to work, but it does not appear to measure like a normal voltmeter, you can't just set it to the 30v range and hold the leads against a 9v battery, you seem to have to pulse it.  Does anyone know about them?  How much are they work because I was thinking of selling it and I have everything for it, the unit, the power cord, test leads, a manual etc. Any info on it or how it works would be appreciated! I just got a Got a 1/2 HP motor for free from my school (there were 2 old vacuum pumps that were covered in dirt and have been in a shed for like a year. One of my friend got one and is turning it into a lathe. They are really nice and quiet GE motors. Their bearing just needed some lube and then they are all fixed!). All it needs is a capacitor (can get from ebay for like 15 bucks including shipping) What should I make with it? So far I'm thinking rotary spark gap for my tesla coil (take THAT plamana!) but i'd like to utilize the power more (don't really need 1/2 HP for a spark gap!). Any other ideas? BTW I'm not making a gokart. lol. But it would be cool.... BUT NO
