HUD help!

Alright so I need some help. I have a pair of dragon snowboard goggles that I would like to make a HUD for. Id like to keep it (relatively) cheap. I would love a transparent display but have not been able to find any. It wouldn't be a huge deal to have a small screen in the lower right hand corner. I would like it to tell my speed and the temperature outside. and possibly keep my gps coordinates so I can map out where I've been when I get home. Any idea how I could do this? I have a very basic grasp of code so I will have to find someone to help with that, but what materials would I need? Thanks so much!

OLED HUD

Hi I have no knowledge of electronics, so I am willing to pay someone to put together a device that incorporates a high resolution oled display coupled to an arduino and obd scanning module. Basically, I'm after a car Heads Up Display unit. The optics i can build myself - it's the electronics I am unsure about. Please get in touch with build time and likely cost for the project. Thanks d

Screen to use for HUD in goggles?

I'm using a GPS module and Arduino to make a Heads Up Display for a pair of old ski goggles I have. What kind of display can I use to show my speed? I just need two digits (but 2 7-Segment LEDs would probably be too thick). Any suggestions are welcome!

HUD (Heads Up Display) with Arduino

Hey,I'm looking to build a HUD (Heads Up Display) for my Arduino project. I was wondering if you could advice me some parts that I should use. For the reflection I'm looking to use black coated plexiglass. I'm wondering if I would need a mirror in order to reflect and enlarge the reflection on the plexiglass. Is there anyone who could advice me some parts? Regards,Jim

i am looking for a way to create a fps-like head mounted display.

I have read looked at alot of the hmd's on this site, but none of them do anything more than show what you can already see without them. i want to build/buy (preferably build) a hmd with a compass, gps guiding system, battery life, ect. i know its alot, but i think it would be cool and useful in alot of cases.

Can I make a remote HUD from my PowerShots AV out to a small LCD?

I have a PowerShot A720 IS, and want to use its AV out to a small LCD to make like a HUD.  Say to shoot pics or vids from different heights, where I can see what it is shooting with this LCD HUD.  I was looking to get a replacement LCD screen for a cell phone & somehow get that hooked up to the AV out of the camera. Attached is a crude drawing of what I'd like to do.

How do I enlarge an image that's been projected onto a screen? Answered

Hey, I made this device that shines light through an LCD screen to project the image onto a window, which then reflects back to me, forming a sort of heads-up display. The LCD screen is about the size of a credit card, and I can't move it any further than ~40cm from the window. Another restriction is, any lens I use can't make the device any more than another 5cm thicker. (that includes distance between the lens and the screen) Is it possible to make the image appear any larger using any lenses? I've tried those plastic magnifying sheets and a lens from a projector tv, but they don't seem to make much difference. Thanks

HMD for biking?

Oh I'm looking into building an HMD for biking. I have the idea of using a miniature lcd from one of those video glasses to project an image onto a piece of one way mirrored acrylic and mounting all of this on a pair of safety glasses. an app displaying current, max and avg.speed and direction on my iphone would provide the information for the display. I'd likely have to add blinders on each side to block out light from the side. but because it is so bright on the other side of the mirrored acrylic i would be able to see through it making into a hud/hmd. any way i have a couple of questions. 1.) do the glasses display whats on the iphone at all times or only during videos? 2.) is this even feasible? below are images of what the iphone displays as well as a rough 2D solid edge drwaing

HDMI from LCD connector

Hi, At work I have an ultrasonic testing instrument that displays the signal on an LCD (640x480). I also have a HUD (head mounted display) that requires a HDMI input. The only way I can think of getting the 2 working is to put a camera over the display and send that to the HUD. Would anyone know of a way to connect something to the LCD ribbon directly and convert it to HDMI? Many thanks for any help provided.

Immersive HMD Discussion

Some of you may have already read my Instructable for the Immersive HMD (Head Mounted Display,) for those who haven't, it is here. I want to share more information about the build, and also get peoples ideas and opinions so lets see what people come up with! I am also happy to answer any questions about how it works, or what I am planning on doing with it. Currently in the works: I have a friend who is "flash savvy" helping me make the HUD interface. We will be streaming the feed from the webcam as the bottom layer of a flash file. We can then overlay well animated and styled objects over top of the feed. This allows the user to access whatever applications they find useful without having to change perspectives. The camera that I am waiting on has a far higher resolution that the screens are capable of outputting, so by selecting areas of the screen to "zoom in on" (expanding the selected area to fit the screen) you essentially have digital zoom. I will upload sketches of the adjustable screen mounts soon. ... and remember kids, the future is now! (for real! look around you)

How can I reuse a USB webcam board?

I scavenged a no-name brand cheap webcam. This means I have a lil' board with four wires coming out to USB, and a tactile switch that sits on top of the board. How can I interface with it in the crudest way possible? I want to get a signal out of it that I can use for a robot, or a HUD, or even out to a TV. Is this possible?

Help: First project - Bluetooth HUD/Router (i don't know what it would classify as)

OK Here's what i'm trying to make you guys. Essentially id like to make a device that will connect to a smart device via Bluetooth and also can connect and transmit to up to 5 Bluetooth speakers (of any brand). i know some Bluetooth speakers now have duo casting or whatever its called but i would like to go a step further. honestly i have no idea where to start, currently what im thinking is using some model of raspberry pi as the backbone of this unit. i would imagine id have to wire 5 bluetooth transmitters and one bluetooth receiver to the pi but i have no idea how i would program the pi or wire it up. as said before this will be my first project so i am rather new to this whole concept of diy but i love the idea of making my own gadgets. i want the pi to recieve bluetooth audio from a smart device and then redirect the audio to the 1-5 other bluetoooth speakers that could be connected to it. i also think it would be really cool to 3D print a body for the pi unit that can house a decent sized rechargeable lithium ion battery, that could be recharged via micro usb or maybe type C. Another cool feature i thought of was if i could wire 6 usb ports to the rechargable battery that could be used to charge 5 bluetooth speakers and you phone in one go. i also suppose id need to put some kind of screen on the pi unit and program some kind of user interface so i could make pairing to the bluetooth speakers and smart devices easier. all in all i guess what im going for is a power bank with the ability to redirect bluetooth audio from a smartphone to multiple bluetooth speakers. is there anyone out there that could maybe help and suggest how to make such a device? constructive critism is welcome as are any ideas for extra features. also maybe point me in the right direction as to where i could purchase the parts for this?Parts i know i'll need5 bluetooth transmitters1 bluetooth receiver6 usb ports1 micro or type C port1 rechargeable lithium ion battery (preferably at least 10000 mah or more, more is always better)

Does anyone know how to make a Halo helmet?

I have been trying to find an Instructable on how to make a Master Chief helmet using things like a bike helmet and some paper mache or something simple. I don't have access to carbon fiber or anything. It would be grate if it could have some features that the actual Halo helmet has like a walkie-talkie, torch, HUD. I have been thinking of ideas for it but still have to work out the rest.  Thanks

How do I understand what the heck a cyborg is?

I'm not a cyborg myself... and I'm making an article about them. Can someone point me in the right direction (DIY bone conduction implants might work, or IR HUD) and I'm talking mostly about a mental fusion of man and machine, which I am sure I and most of Western society are. But  on a more fundamental level. Also, I wrote a few shorts on deaf people, some of whom were cyborgs, so I'd be glad to publish them on t'Internet somehow.

What can i make out of a old but working video camera, It is a JVC GR-AX280?

It is a JVC GR-AX280, it is old, the batteries arent discharged yet, however it uses small VHS tapes and those are expensive and old, and tend to not work as well as they should. The other thing is it still woks perfectly fine its just i want a DSLR and i thought mabey making a temporary one out of the lense and etc from it. It also has a almost microscopic LCD type screen where they eye peice is and i thought about making like a hud or somthing. But i am at your mercy people of instructables, do your worst :D

Advanced Helmet

Advanced Helmet By: Arseny Ratnikov I want to create a helmet that looks like a sci fi helmet (mass effect, titanfall, halo, etc.) and that; **Want to make cool helmet, need help with having multiple camera feed output to multiple screens** * Protects my head (able to decrease force from impact by significant degree) * Can filter the air I breath (does not need to be super extreme filter, just filter out general junk, the better the filter the more pleased I am, but if it becomes too bulky/expensive then it is unnecessary)(Optional/Most Likely) * Has a HUD with my vitals on it. I would wear some sensors, such as HR monitor to have some cool biofeedback, maybe also include other information.(option) * Maybe even have it be a digital display where there are cameras on the front and maye back of the helmet that then are displayed on the interior screen, where I have voice commands setup for some different things. * Have the helmet be as sound proof as possible and have microphones where my ears would be, then inside the helmet speakers, so that I can modify the noise around me to be how I want it to be. I understand this would be rather difficult (at least including all of the bullets) and that it could even be a touch silly. Yet, I find this a rather intriguing pursuit and think it will help contribute to becoming a cyborg. Any tips would be greatly appreciated as I don't really know where to start for this. I can imagine a lot of the work might be done on an arduino, but I simply don't know the feasibility of modifying noises of the world around you and having the cameras on the helmet. So here's a little prioritization sheet I worked out, it is not exactly in order, and maybe you all have some suggestions on what might be more critical to design and functionality. Prioritization 1. Functionality a. Head protection a1. Padding/Inertia dampener a2. Sturdy/solid b. Control of phone through bluetooth b1. In helmet speakers b2. In helmet microphone b3. Voice control c. Control of other systems such as screens c1. Voice control of screens c2. Screen modification c3. Screen HUD and other functions (maybe GPS map, time, etc.) d. Camera view d1. Camera live to screen with little to no latency d1a. 360 degree view compressed to 180 degree screen (maybe) d2. Computer control of camera feed d2a. Visuals, different HUDs e. Sound modulation e1. Sound cancelling e2. Sound reproduction at low to no latency e3. Sound modification e3a. Changing pitch e3b. Change decibel levels e3c. Change relative level of external sounds f. The HUD f1. Display of vitals f1a. Heart rate, oxygenation, etc. (Requires some monitor) f2. Display of time and other running interests f3. Display of current location on google maps/GPS system g. Air Filtration g1. Filtration of air, relatively high quality g2. Seal on head or seal over mouth and nose or full body suit that connects to helmet h. Extra Features 2. Style a. Look good b. Look like popular sci-fi media c. Does not interfere with functionality and accents functionality How should I do this? I am planning on using some old phone screens if I can for the screen part and multiple cameras. I plan on using a raspberry computing system (might need multiple) to modulate the output from the cameras. How could I make multiple camera outputs lay onto multiple screens that looks good at three to five inches from the eyes? Also how can I make the raspberry pi control my phone and computer via voice, or at least change a screens properties? Thanks

The massivly long details for Chromehounds: Tribute Edition

Unless you've seen my original post, go to https://www.instructables.com/community/Chromehounds-shall-rise-again-at-least-I-hope-/ These are my basic ( and many ideas about the game) IDEA 1 : Rebuild::: ---------------------------------------------     I will probably start with this then move to idea 2, or I could base the project on the original and release the beta, then I'll add an expansion to include the original tutorial missions in the final. --------------------------------------------- IDEA 2: Sequeal::: ---------------------------------------------    This would be based 20 years after the Neroimus Wars, about 2040 (something like that, still working on it). Rafzakael has stopped operations leaving mercenaries scattered throughout the region. The peace that lasted after the wars was short lived, due to imperialistic moves by all three nations. The second Neroimus War starts after Morskovian forces attack a Sal Kar Village and a Tarakian patrol receives an incorrect order and destroys a Morskovian patrol. New advances in technology allows hounds to be stronger, take more damage, but these changes are countered by even more powerful weapons. Features: - Unidentified Weapons (M99, MSK-X0, Ghalib) can end up on the same battlefield and are a tad more common. (still once per war) - Experimental weapons will actually work - In ranked matches it's possible to lose parts (up for debate) - That stupid news feature it shows at the beginning will be accessible only through a menu. - Some current day weapons (Railguns, guided missiles, etc. But these will be limited by extreme weight, power, and cool-down time). - Some requested parts (TBD (to be determined)) - "Modded" parts (trade offs on certain parts; higher power for more heat, or more damage for less range and such) - Preserves tactical feel and maybe some HUD modifications - PC only for the time being. It's a major pain to get stuff on the Xbox. - A website where people can share their hound set ups and download them to the game. - New stat system for hounds and parts. - Multiplayer (can't give many details yet, probably LAN at first, but I'll see what I can do with UDK) - Variable weather on some maps - Also some new multiplayer maps. - Maps will still be basic to help out lower powered computers - Low spec mode will be able to be used. - A Java based utility app will be included(includes squad rankings, scores, parts that you have, also includes a builder so you can build hounds while the battle is finishing). - Online sync for parts so cheaters can't get free parts. - Possibly some kind of tournament that's run (maybe ever 2-3 months, to be voted) - "Death Cam" lets you watch your allies while your dead, rather than running around with a useless assault rifle. - Other ideas/ concepts can be requested and voted on, and any of these ideas can be voted on also. --------------------------------------------- That's about all I have for now, it will be about march when I release the final (sooner if I can get community help). --------------------------------------------- Help wanted:: --------------------------------------------- - Screenshots - 3-d models - Voices - Sounds - Maps (made in UDK please) - Ideas/ concepts - Storyline - Practically anything else attributed to the game. --------------------------------------------- Websites:: --------------------------------------------- - http://chromehounds.addicted-gamer.com/ (great for part/ game info) - http://chromehoundste.blogspot.com/ The main site for now. - http://www.indiedb.com/members/nerdman234 Secondary site for updates - http://www.westwindpmc.net/forums/viewforum.php?f=5 Yet another site I post on. ------------------------------------------- Whew.... /rant  -Nerdman234 Chromehounds is not my original idea, Sega and From Software created it. I am merely recreating it.
