At my school they have a program called launcher.exe on all of the shortcuts in the start menu. so if I wanted to open SketchUp for example it goes "do you want to run sketchUp (licenced to SCHOOL NAME) yes or no?" I looked at the shortcut and the target is "//admin/programs/launcher.exe sketchup.exe" Any ideas what the code is behind this. I want a program that will do something simmilar but let me change the app it opens using the commnad line.

I was watching the military channel, and I saw the M32 grenade launcher. I really want to build something like it with knex. But here's the problem: I have yet to find a grenade that can fit in some sort of barrel. I'd use Carlz's grenade, but the rubberbands on the outside of it would GREATLY decrease the range. We need to make a smooth grenade, any ideas?

Concept - A hybrid-launcher (combustion and pneumatics) with interchangeable barrels for various projectile types So the design is pretty simple, in the back of the gun launcher thing (we’ll call it ‘the weapon’ for now) will be a propellant chamber measuring 2.5” wide and 1.5’ long. On one end of the propellant chamber will be an unscrewable coupler. On the other end, a 2.5” ball valve. Attached to the ball valve will be the female end of a 2.5” coupler (without cap) From here will be the interchangeable barrels, which are simple. The barrels would consist of the male end of the 2.5” coupler and a 2.5” width converter, converting the width from 2.5" to various different sizes for the different projectile sizes (this would have to be one piece for durability, idk if such a piece exists, I hope it does, if not, i can make one) the barrel itself would measure 3’ in length A Shrater valve (bike tire valve) will be installed on the propellant chamber (for pneumatic power). A bike pump would be mounted on the weapon (like a shotgun kinda) An ignitor will be installed on the back of the chamber, mounted on the unscrewable coupler.

I heard from sscoasters.net that someone made a Magnet brake. Now I wonder if you can make a LIM launcher and some people said that you need electronic magnets that turn on and off the launching machine. I was hoping to find some information for a simple thing like this. Maybe someone can make a Electric Magnet from house materials.

Hello my name is Aaron! I am a high school senior from northeastern Kentucky designing a pneumatic system of sorts for a science competition and need some help. I will be building a device that converts gravitational potential energy, from a falling mass, into air pressure (or possibly the movement of air depending on the design) to launch a projectile a specific distance (max distance needed is 8.25 m). What I am thinking about doing is using one double action pneumatic cylinder (DAPC) as a bellow in which a falling mass (max 3.500 kg at a max 90 cm) would strike its piston shaft, creating positive pressure within the system. With that positive pressure another DAPC’s piston would simultaneously strike our projectile sending it airborne in theory. Below there is an illustration of my idea, sorry about the poor quality. So what I need help determining is would this design work before I start buying parts? If so what approximate sizes should the two cylinders be and should they be different sizes to maximize the force exerted on the projectile? If you have any other ideas concerning the design or any questions about the project PLEASE feel free to share!!! Below are some of the design rules that pertain to this project along with some notes in italics about them. Thank you very much for your time in advance! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Description: -Prior to competition, teams will design, construct, and calibrate a single device capable of launching projectiles into a target and collect data regarding device parameters and performance. Design Constraints: -The launching force must be entirely supplied by the gravitational potential energy from a falling mass less than or equal to 3.500 kg. Any device part whose potential energy decreases and provides launch energy is considered part of the mass. The mass may consist of multiple discrete parts, which together count as the total mass. -During each launch, the gravitational potential energy must be converted to air pressure or air movement, which is then used to launch the projectile, either directly (e.g., pop gun style, etc.) or indirectly (e.g., using a pneumatic cylinder to swing an arm, etc.) All device air chambers must start at ambient air pressure and must automatically return to ambient air pressure. -The launching device (would look similar to this with the adjustable angle to accommodate different ranges), including the projectile and all components, must fit within a 75.0 cm x 75.0 cm x 1.00 m box in ready-to-launch configuration, in any orientation chosen by the team. Weights used to stabilize the device must be within the box. -The triggering device (would look something like this except elevated with a mass suspended ready to be released) in not considered part of the device and must not contribute energy to the launch. It must extend out of the launch area, allow for the competitors to remain at least 1.00 m away from the launch area, and does not need to return to the launch area after launch. The triggering device must not pose a danger to anyone due to flying parts or excessive movement outside the launch area. -Teams must provide unmodified tennis, racquet, ping pong, and/or plastic practice golf balls to be used as projectiles. Teams may change projectiles for each launch. -The launching device must be designed and operated in such a way to not damage or alter the floor. -Electrical components are not allowed as part of the device or triggering device. The Competition: -Two targets, designated by small marks on tape on the floor or panels lying on the floor, must be placed in front of and centered on an imaginary line parallel to the launch direction that bisects the launch are. Supervisors are encouraged to place sand, cat litter, or similar substance in the area around the targets to help indicate landing spots. -The targets must be placed in front of the launch area at distances between 2.00 m and 8.00 m (in intervals of 10 cm). A distance of at least 2.00 m must separate the targets. Target distances must not be announced until after impound is over and must be the same for all teams. Room ceiling height should be considered when setting the distances.

I'm interested in making a pneumatic potato launcher, I've found plenty information on that but I want to hit a target 255 meters away at an angle of 45 degrees. I calculated that I would need an initial velocity of approximately 50 m/s without wind resistance. The object being launched is an average sized potato under normal weather conditions. With wind resistance, what initial velocity will be required to hit the target? Please explain the process by which you came to the answer so that I may use the same method in future endeavors with different angles and distances. Also, just how much pressure would be required to launch a potato and achieve that speed, and to what specifications would the launcher need to be built i.e. how large the gas chamber will need to be, length of barrel, etc...

So i was listening to the news yesterday so orlando had this shoes for guns thing. so you give your gun for a pair of shoes or $50. so then this one guys gives a 4 foot surface to air missle launcher for a pair of shoes but of coarse it was no questions asked. well i was just wow!

Problem-i am building a large knex bazooka that needs a customized firing system. it needs to hold on to the projectile with some sort of fingers, which are to release when triggered from the rear of the holder, and the holder needs to ride in the rails of the gun, and it needs to be able to attach to a length of string. operation is-latch projectile in claws, pull both claw and projectile into barrel, pull to rear of barrel, stop motor, pull trigger, which through a series of levers will push to release on the back of the claw, launching the projectile. can anyone create such a claw as im stuck. ive got the gun, motor, gears, and projectiles, but i need some claw befor i build the trigger so they'll be compatible.

Hello everyone this is an idea i had and i am going to try and do. The idea is to take one of the Wireless USB Missile launchers(seen here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16800997039) and connected it in some way to one of the trip bells(often seen at stores). Instead of setting the bell/alarm off i want it to send the singal to the USB Launcher and have it shoot at a set location.If anyone can help direct me as to what i need to buy and do to make this work all help would be appreciated.

Using the picture as a base. What do you think about this design for a smoke/whatever else launcher. The barrel will be made of pvp and have a hinge connecting the two pieces. On the non-detachable side will be a hook, and the detachable side will have a "hook grabber". The hook is some sort of bendable material that will lock around the grabber. The gun part of the pvc will have a slit cut into, like the one in the picture. A spring will be glued down in the butt end, and the opposite end of the spring will have some small object attached to it. This object will also have a very small hook coming off of it. To load the gun you will detach the hook and push in the smoke grenade as far as possible. When you can no longer, you you attach a wire that is coming off of the little black box detailed in the picture to a mechanism that is attached to the trigger. You then close the front part to allow for better travel. When the trigger is pulled, it will detach from the blackbox on the spring, causing the spring to release all of its tension. The smoke grenade will, obviously, be propelled through. So, my questions. Would this seem like it would work viably? How much distance would you say it could get? The smoke grenades would weigh around 11oz . Is there any major flaws? I believe that some sort of spring guide will be needed. Are these possible to construct yourself? I haven't done any projects with springs before, most of my projectiles have been launched via combustion, so this is new for me. Should there be an additions? Also, the way in which the smoke grenade is going to ignite is a striker on the side of it, along with the inner edges of the end of the barrel having a striker on it. When they scrape up at the speed they will be at, they would ignite, and a fuse would catch the flame and ignite the smoke grenade. I have done this on other smaller designs. It doesn't have near a 100% success rate, but it still works the majority of the time. Any suggestions for changing this?

I was interested in building a tennis ball cannon, and have seen breech-loading ones in videos. Does anyone know of free plans for one? I was also wondering if there is a disadvantage to ABS other than the slight cost difference. I'm looking for safety and an efficent barrel-to-tank ratio. How would one make a resettable pressure release in the case of some sort of accidental over pressure?

i was thinking i could make a pvc pipe launcher that could fire those film canister vinegar and baking soda. you could put them in the barrel with the cap facing you and the body would fly out of the launcher. if you think this is a good instructable im happy to make it.

It looks like a short sholder mounted rocket launcher only it takes the big co2 canisters, fires those nerf footballs that have tails, and loads from the top by cocking the front barrel forward and loading the round into the barrel before snapping it back. It was in a video on youtube.

Ok what do you guys think its a airsoft bb shower at 20-30 psi it 20 bbs goes around 200fps and100feet (rough estimations) can you rate it 1-10 if its a decent avg ill make a instructables (you probibly know how to make one but the shells are kinda hard)

I am trying to design a t-shirt cannon that can shoot at least twice with one pump of the tank. I have a two tank design with ball valves for each tank, but the system is too complicated to explain to school officials. Is there a better design?
