Hi does anyone know how to make something similar to this electroprobe - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fmfrtAJEr9U - (@ 0.24 seconds in) In order to listen to the 'sound of electricity'. What kind of microphones would I need? (surface, telephone etc.) Thanks for any help.

Hey guys, I have been contemplating this forum topic for quite some time. I have debated with myself as to whether I should post a topic like it, or just ignore the problem(s). I have decided to go with the former, as it seems to me that there are things that need to be addressed. Not everybody is going to like/agree with what I have to say, but, I have always though that the best way to get people to think is to displease them. I have noticed that for some time now that people will spend more time talking about their own guns than the gun that they are posting the comment on. In other words, imagine that you have posted a new gun, and some person leaves a comment that looks somewhat like this: "Nice gun! I an currently working on a new crossbow that I think you will really like. It gets 100 ft. of range, it looks awesome, and it has a great 're-load time.' I hope that you check it out when it is posted, and give it a vote in the contest that it is posted in." I would humbly submit to you that that entire message is spam. If you are going to leave a comment on somebody else's 'ible, please do. BUT, don't make 95% of the message about how awesome your new gun is/whatever. The message is supposed to be a comment about/on the 'ible you are posting that particular comment on. It's kinda annoying to look at my own (and other people's) 'ibes just to find that they are full of "my new gun is posted here" type comments. Secondly, I want to talk a little about the classics. No, not classic music, but about the classic K'NEX guns. I will make this as clear as possible. The TR8/18 and the NAR are (in my opinion) outdated. Yes, they may get good range. Yes, they may only use a few amount of pieces, but this is NO excuse to bombard every 'ible with "well, this gun is good, but it is not as good as the TR8/NAR." I mean no offense, but nobody cares. I really don't think that anyone is trying to rival those guns, but there are guns that do so. The TR8 and the NAR may have been good guns, but they are from 2009, the K'NEX community has moved on. You may want to argue with me, but I will probably end up ignoring you. Sorry for making this comment so long, but those problems really do need to be addressed. I did not mean to offend anyone, and if I did, I am sorry, but you must understand how I, and multiple others, might feel. Peace. - The Red Book of Westmarch

Would appreciate some advice on this project. I'm putting together a proposal for a series of outdoor sound installations in a nature park. a couple of the installations will be places where you can plug in headphones to listen to certain sounds captured live from a microphone in an interesting place- for example a hydrophone in a pond. The plan is that the mic will be hooked up to 3.5 jack sockets and listerners will be able to plug in their own headphones. Now obviously there needs to be some amplification because the mic signal level will be far too quiet to hear on headphones. I need a power amp that will be powered through a solar panel. My question is, shall I just use a headphone amp, like the Behringer ha400 or make my own power amp circuit? I need to be able to make everything sturdy and fit into a weather proof junction box to protect it from the elements. I have done some experiments with an LM386 power amp module but there was so much background noise and it didn't pick up the mic level at all (may have been a problem with the mic I was using,it was a crappy little lapel mic.- I did get a signal from a piezo disc but it was again really crackly and noisy.) If it is best to build a circuit with a power amp module, could people make suggestions of ones that will sound good and clean, and work with stereo headphones. Thanks a lot Ash

My panasonic tv does not have bluetooth. I have new Marley headphones. Theywork well but not when the channel says Dolby or no good with Netflix as they appear to all transmit in Dolby. I purchased both a digital to analogue converter and bluetooth transmitter as advised but still cannot get Netflix audio or those channels using Dolby. Is it because bluetooth will not transmit analogue??

My idea is to attach a contact microphone to the wrist to listen to finger-taps and determine which fingers produce the taps. Assumptions: - The tap sound propagates along the bones like in tubes, - Each finger produces a characteristic sound signal. - Pattern recognition of sound signals identifies the sound and the finger that produces it. Any help? Thanks

I'm writing a zombie apocalypse fiction story and in one scene, one of the militia has to eavesdrop on a survivor gathering through a padded window using a stethoscope modified to fit onto a walkie-talkie earpiece microphone (the type that's along the same wire as the earpiece). The stethoscope would be placed against the glass window. The eavesdropped survivor leader is using a loud announcement voice with no acoustic assistance, in the middle of, say, a 20m x 10m x 3m lobby. The sound would (theoretically) reverberate through the glass window and into the stethoscope, which would focus all that sound down into the mic, which is transmitted by the connected walkie-talkie to our actual listener that hears it several kilometers away through the second, receiving radio. Notwithstanding the padded window (since the character finds a hole) and assuming the transmitted signal isn't distorted at all, how bad would the audio fidelity be for the listener? Would you still be able to understand audible speech? Would listening with stethoscopes through glass windows even work?

Hallo friends, Please show me a schematic diagram of a highly sensative amplifier, or hearing aid that I can use as a telescopic remote spy hearing instrument. Something as sensitive as the EVP paranormal audio recorder. I tried this circuit but doesnt work :( http://www.extremecircuits.net/2009/07/hearing-aid.html Please guide me to a circuit that actually worked for you. see you thanks

I would like to mod a handheld radio (or even a analogue tv but radio would be better) to get to listen to higher frequencies than normally available. I'd Like to hit the 1420Mhz mark approximately but with little electrical engineering or architecture experience, I'm not certain how? Which might make a TV easier to get there as UHF covers that right? (still safer to play with a battery powered radio than a 240V powered one) I figured there is someone out there with the ability to figure out what components need changing? The variable resistor that tunes it perhaps? If you'd rather post an instructable I'll follow that or just tell me what needs replacing with what? Any Ideas?? Thanks

I have a friend who is going through a rough divorce and we think it is quite likely that he has bugged her house. He has used electronic bugs in the past, his daughter is mentally and physically handicapped and he put it on her wheel chair to hear what happened during her first day of middle school. I am looking for cheap instructions on how to build a device to detect it and/or instructions on a device like you read about in espionage books that produces noise that makes anything a bug picks up unintelligible.

A friend by complete accident picked up the phone in her bedroom and realized she could hear everything that was going on downstairs in the living room . Thinking she had left the phone off the hook down stairs she went down to replace it back in it's cradle only to find that it was already in it's cradle. She has now found that by picking up the phone in her bedroom she can hear any conversation that goes on down stairs without anyone being aware. However the draw back is her phone is very often engaged even if both phones are in their cradles. She has phoned and had the line checked and was told there is a fault with socket. We are both baffled by this and how it is possible , I would love any feed back on this , the biggest in my mind is... has this been done deliberately by someone or is it just a fluke? Does anyone have the answer . Many thanks if you have taken the time to read this .

Well the other day I was at home and my parents were at work. I was hearing some weird noises from around our circut breaker. So I called my dad and told him I was hearing noises and it sound electrical. He didn't believe me until last night until I told him there were more noises comeing from it. So he opened the little door and flipped one of the switch thingies back and forth and it was arcing! So we replaced it and there was this weird blue purpley powder on it. So if your children hear noises around your circut breaker, you might want to check it. My mom said she heard something coming from over there but she thought it was a mouse or rat outside or in the wall. (Our neighbor has rats and they come over to our house all the time)

I have learned to hit the snooze button in my sleep, so I am making a math alarm clock. It makes you do math to turn it off. But since this alarm clock could be on for 30+ seconds, I'm looking for a way to make it not annoy my roommate. I was thinking of a parabolic speaker, but they cost $400+. Anyone know how to make one, or another solution to this problem?

Okay, so I have a speaker box that I made myself with a kitted 7w audio amp. I put that in a box with a decent 4 inch speaker, and that was working great. Then I decided that I really need to add some sound reactive lights, so I got a TIP31 transistor and hooked that up along with a 7805 5v regulator to a USB port so I can charge my devices with it. So, the USB port works great, and so does the speakers and lights. But *not* when I plug in my device to charge while it playing music through the 3.5mm audio jack. It gives off this weird fuzzy sound, but still charges. On my multi meter it shows continuity between the USB port and the audio input and speaker, so I first thought that maybe I didn't have something grounded quite right, but it all appears to be set up right. Is there some sort of filter I can set up so that I can charge one device and play music at the same time on the same device? Or would need to set up the two circuits on different power sources? I would really rather not do that for the simple fact of trying to keep it simple... Here's my schematic of it (sorry about it being sloppy, I did it rather quickly but everything on there should be right). Here's a better quality picture of the schematic
