Live video for night vision goggles? Answered

Hi, I want to get live video streaming from this camera (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WSJIQH0?psc=1&redirect;=true&ref;_=ox_sc_act_title_3∣=AOEPEY6PZCP7F) to stream to this screen (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0045IIZKU?psc=1&redirect;=true&ref;_=ox_sc_act_title_2∣=A1DBCKGXGABBQV) What do I need to connect them? the connecting cables on the two look to be the same so they won't connect. I would prefer to keep this all wired together (no tx/rx) Also, I don't see power inputs on either, what would I need to power them. I will use ir leds for illumination but that's all figured out (night vision goggles using something similar to fpv goggles with a camera on the front)

Sponsored Video Playing Automatically

Why do the 'sponsored videos' (READ: advertisements) at the top of most pages start playing automatically? I can only hope this is a mistake, because it is wrong on many levels. 1. Loud 2. Obnoxious 3. Unwanted 4. Makes me want to avoid Instructables (NOOOOO!) Sorry if those are redundant, but on top of the recent site layout fiasco, Instructables seems to have become a huge, messy commercial. I could live with that if only those videos didn't play automatically.

How to stream live video from a webcam using raspberry pi?

Hi, I have had my raspberry pi for about 3 months now and I purchased it with the intention of mounting it on an RC car so I can have live video. The problem is that the pi doen't support flash so I cannot simpley run my webcam through a program like skype. I have bought a wifi usb dongle with the rtl8188cus chip and want to be able to drive it within range of my modem. I also a have a proper tx and rx for an rc plane because I prefer the joystick control. So the olny thing the raspberry pi needs to do is stream live video at a high fps. Can anyone provide me with instructions on how I can stream live video at high fps on my raspberry pi? Thanks, David.

It is not advisable to copy the activities shown in this video.

The Modified Toy Orchestra have a philosophy of performing everything live with a collection of re-purposed children’s toys.., converting abandoned playthings into exotic new musical instruments, and then exploring the latent potential and surplus value inherent in these liberated circuits. Guided by this hidden world they seek to make a form of music devoid of personal narrative or autobiography, instead they ask bigger questions about our relationship with “the next new gadget” the desire for the constant upgrade, and the possibilities for problem solutions hidden from our gaze by perceptual habit. The result of this on going investigation has been called cinematic, dark, joyful and life affirming. It is rare to hear an electronic live performance that has no midi, no sampling, no synthesizers, no laptops, in fact no conventional instruments of any kind. MTO have live dates coming up: 8th September at Birmingham Town Hall 10th September at Manchester Bridgewater Hall Hey, what about the title of the topic? Oh, that's from the band's appearance on the BBC website.  After all, these AA batteries are dangerous... Freeno & Olaf from Modified Toy Orchestra on Vimeo.

Help make a video game

This is for all of you who want to (or already do) make video games for a living. Right now me and some other people are in the process of making a video game. We don't really know much about what it's gonna be. I don't even know if my coworkers know what they're gonna do to help make the game. All i know is that we need more people to help us. If you're interested, then just email me at benyamin135@gmail.com. Include in your email what you can do, previous work ( you don't really need to be experienced), and for 3D modellers, i'll need to see some of your work. I'm in charge of the 3D modelling so make sure you know how to make models because i'm not just gonna take someone who can't do the job in. we're only excepting people who have a good understanding of how to do what you want to do. You can also email me if you have any game ideas. We will include you in the credits and such.

Anyone interested in making a Video Game?

Hi. I'm looking for a group of people to help me make a Video Game. I have lots of ideas, but the big problem: I have absolutely NO coding, drawing, or music composing skills. I'm looking for people who have those skills, and would like to help out. I live in Canada, but you don't have to live there. I'm good with Skype, or something else. I'm fine with any software. I don't have any money, but I was going to put the games on Kickstarter, and I could pay people off that profit. I have ideas about most genres, like RPG, or action, or even a simulation. One idea is this war game where you command a small army, and attack other people. I can't really explain much, other than you can upgrade your troops, and unlock special troops, like Motherships. Or maybe a tycoon game. I don't really know, I mostly come up with ideas on the spot... So that's all I think i should say. If you need more questions answered about me, just ask. PLEASE HELP A GUY OUT!

Anyone Interested In Creating A Video Game?

Hello there, I am currently creating a video game with a really good game engine and I need as much support as I can get! I need a story, characters, settings and someone who is willing to learn how to program and code in the basic level. I'm really just looking for people who are passionate about video games and who want to create one. I will later on open up my own video game company here in London (Yes I have the money for that). I also have publishers who will help in making our game get attention. But of course all this happens after the game is created. Any ideas? Anyone that lives in London? Or anyone who wants to join me online to create an amazing game? Thanks! Send me an email to JamesDuFont@programmer.net

I need video game ideas!

I am currently starting to design an Xbox 360 game using Microsoft XNA Game Studio (a library for rmaking X360, Zune and PC games in the C# language), but I am stumped at thinking of ideas. I have thought of many that seem good at the time, but while starting to plan, program, or make graphics for them, i realize it wasn't that good of an idea and give up on them. If it is good enough, it will be sold on the Xbox LIVE marketplace (under Community Games) and can win a contest. If you do help me and give a suggestion, please know this will be a 2D game (i can do all the work for a small game, but I can't do 3d modelling). Also, I can use an advanced physics engine and there aren't really any limits to ideas I could use. If you do give me an idea, I can even give you credit in the game. Also, it should be something original and innovative, think outside the box! Thanks in advance if you do help me out, this is probably the hardest part of game making!

AAA batteries for a digital video camera?

Hi folks. We were recently given a digital video camera that takes three AAA batteries. It's not the worlds greatest camera as you can imagine but it would be fun for our grandchildren to use in the summertime in the garden or possibly for the odd project. The problem is that as I'm not yet a millionaire I prefer to use rechargeable batteries, the ones we have are quite adequate for the jobs we have needed them for up to now but this camera eats them for breakfast taking them from a full charge to flat as a pancake in a matter of ten minutes or so. I'm the first to admit that when it comes to all things electronic I'm a complete dunce so without getting into the technical ins & outs of power drainage & how many amps live in an ohm or however it goes can anyone suggest a supplier in the UK where I can get batteries that are up to the job? I don't expect them to last all day long but rather longer than ten minutes would be good. Alternatively if anyone could suggest a suitable battery pack and charger to replace three AAA's that would be great. If it's any help the camera in question is a Mustek DV5300SE, as I said not exactly super hi-tech but could be fun for the kids. Thanks in advance for your help. NG.

Time-Lapse shows the beauty of the galaxy we live in.

I recently purchased a Canon EOS DSLR.This video made it painfully obvious what I need to be doing with it!This gorgeous video is a compilation of shots taken with a Canon EOS-5D every 20 seconds over about nine hours at a star party in Fort Davis, Texas. It's a humbling sight. The Canon was equipped with a fisheye lens (an EF 15mm f/2.8 lens) and powered with an external battery to capture all that goodness. The more interesting part is the replacement anti-alias filter the photographer, William Castleman, used: The Canon's stock AA filter blocks out certain red wavelengths to achieve a "more desirable" skin tone, but if it's replaced with a filter that lets those wavelengths in, you've got yourself a camera capable of shooting a galaxy, as seen here, even if we can't see it with the naked eye.Its also great to know about the filter, I am off to google more into that now!Check it out on VimeoVia Gizmodo

wired video connection from an FPV camera

Could FPV cameras such as the Foxeer Predator Mini or Micro (intended for wireless use on drones) be set up to send a live wired video feed to an android phone or tablet via a micro usb cable of some description? for context, i intend to build a bulky costume which effectively blocks my view out so after googling a bit i found some mentions of people using these (surprisingly cheap) cameras with (very expensive) FPV goggles so i figure i could potentially use a tablet/phone i already have with a long cable connection instead but i don't know if it's possible...

Can you help write a video game?

Do you want to get involved in moving an internet sensation to the next level? Webcomic Questionable Content are looking for a video game developer to push forward the creative vision of the comic's author. J Jaques says; Today, I had an idea. An idea for a video game. A video game about WEBCOMICS. I passed this idea around to a number of my colleagues, and they were very interested! It then began to dawn on me that this was possibly something I could actually make happen. But obviously I don't know anything about actually making video games, so I would have to talk to a developer about it. And while I'm sure there is nothing video game developers hate more than a Normal Person Who Thinks They Have A Great Idea For A Game, I am pretty sure this idea has legs, both in terms of potential audience and potential funding. So if you make video games for a living, shoot me an email. I would love to discuss my ideas with a professional. If you don't know QC, you should.  If you have a couple of days spare, start reading at number one, otherwise pick up here.

Your thoughts on "UFO's", strange things and the unknown

Don't take what comes below too serious please ;) I thought for the start of the new year it would be fun to talk about things we take for granted or that we would call nonsense. You know topis like those provided by Erich Däniken and other that think outside the conventional archiological range. Modern science has provided us with new insights into very old stuff but also a new look on things we thought to know better anyway. Here is some food for thought: 1. India... In this beautiful and old country it was discovered that hundreds if not over 2000 years ago people used lathe technology on stones. For example to make pillars with a weight over a few tons... Chains were created from molten rock and in many areas you find polished stone that even after hundreds of years still has a mirror finnish. Some of these creations are claimed to be made with hammer and chisel but how do you get a displayed accuracy that even modern technology struggles to provide? I don't want to clutter everything with video links but check Youtube and you will find temples in India showing musical granite pillars and chambers carved into solid rock with a precision that seems impossible! If that long ago human knd already knew about gear systems and lathe technology, then what else have we lost over time that we now claim as new technologies? How could anyone polish an entire granite hall and a big one that is to a mirror finnish? 2. Peru... Apart from being full of archeological wonders there is also the impossible to be found. The Nazca region shows, in aerial views, kilometer long and perfectly straight lines. In other regions, also in other continents, we can see images of strange people or artwork - again only from high above ground level. Some of the artwork is only in correct proportions and with proper contours if watched from a very specific angle to the mountain in question. The kilometer long lines are not simply on standard mountain faces but instead on top of mountain that have the top removed to be perfectly flat. And even with a lot of posible options to interpret the lines they look like any other huge, modern airport landing strips - including runways and tracks to areas we would call terminals or service bays. You can ignore all possible ways to interpret the design and possible use, what you can't ignore is the missing mountain top and level of accuracy on such a massive scale! 3. Pyramids... On all continents except Australia we find pyramid structures with very similar features in terms of proportions, angles and the way the face in a certain direction. In Egypt they just recently found another hidden chamber... Tunnels, too small for a human to fit point to stars and star signs. Some of the tools used to create were found with the help of small robots but also that some seem to be quite modern in age. Did grave robbers use them at a time were it is beleived that such tools were impossible to create? Or could they be as old as the pyramids itself? In south america we find pyramid structures looking quite similar to those in Egypt - why so similar in features and appearance if there was no contact between the two civilisations? To make things worse some of the Inca structures show tunnel and channel systems "leading" to the pyramid in question. Classic thought is that they were like tunnels to direct water or provide access in the beleive the jungle was not removed to hide the complex. Makes no sense if you see the city like areas that are now exposed and studied. I mean: how would created a city in the jungle without removing the trees?? What could make you wonder is a simulation that was performed several years ago. Based on a computer model in 3D different theories were tested. Irrigation was ruled out quickly, same for access routes or secret tunnels for the priests. One funny student got bored and decided to play god. Assuming the Inca priests would call their gods in the sky temple to provide rain he let a monsoon go down on the pyramid. The result was unexpected so he showed the results to his companions and they did the same test agin but simulated a massive airflow going down directly on the pyramid. Turned out the flow would be directed away under ground with more efficiency than systems Nasa uses today for rockets and space shuttles... Mind you the tunnels are far from straight and without this simulation it was trusted that they could not do this stuff... We now have rocket technology that uses surface direction and vector control. The square and flat designs leave a void insight that pretty much perferctly match the angles of those inca pyramids? Apart from pure coincidence, what could be the reason for this match in shape and angle with a tunnel system perfect to remove hot engine gasses? Ok, I admit, not all continents, the pyramids in Bosnia are just a hoax, so Europe is out of the race ;) Sorry Semir :) 4. Artwork... Be it here in Australia, the African desert or America - we find images of mystical people or rulers that could make you wonder. Again modern tech in the form color filtering, desitity readings and 3D scanning provided us details unseen before. If you think of gods in very ancient times and try to imagine you would be a native: What do think how many different images of their god could 100 people imagine? Let's agree it would be plenty... But if we study artwork in caves and rocks from around the world we find similarities that IMHO can't be explained. Many show features that, compared with modern technology, could be mistaken for helmets, gloves or even manual control systems. Others show things thought to be as simple as pine cones to resemble modern milling or finnishing tools. Again only possible by enhancing details the naked eye won't see. With no contact to each other and often thausand of years apart: What could the reason for having images of their gods show very similar and sometimes identical "features" ? 5. UFO technology and sightings... Some people love to post videos of secret weapons and UFO's that are simple rocket launches at a perfect time and with perfect weather conditions to attract attention. But what about the things we don't get to see? Just recently the US finally admitted to have a program to investigate what we might call "UFO activity", quite costly one too... This means a lot of leaked videos from fighter planes or spy planes you find on the net are actually the real deal. Often "enhanced" with editing tools but authentic ones have been released by the military and other organisations now too. If it happens over US ground and no US organisations admits to be flying the things we see than what it is? Right, it is a UFO - An Unidentified Flying Object! Does not mean it is alien, despite far too many people thinking an UFO must be alien :( UFO means just that! At the time of seeing it the ones seeing it can not identify the craft or "thing". And, no you are not alone! ;) Happens in all parts of the world and even commercial pilots upload what they can't explain. Oh, you are still a sceptic? Does that mean you think some of these sightings must be alien or do think someone down here uses technology we are not supposed to know of? If you are like me you might like to relax watching the live feed from the ISS. In case you are not try it anyway! Every noticed that that despite the stations own speed "forgeign" objects appear to come towards the station or even to grow in size very quickly? If so you also noticed another very strange thing... No matter what happens up there the stream keeps playing, even at times when the station is moved around a bit to avoid a possible hit with debris. But every single time something appears to move around the ISS or come close to it the feed cuts out. Ok, not every time, for well known stuff orbiting around like satellites, other stations, rocket lauchnes or supply flights they stay on. So, what are those flying objects changing course and direction or even circling the station? Why does the live feed cut out once an object is identified to be unidentified? 6. Roswell technology boom... Some think the US did take ownership of an alien craft, you know the stories and movies I mean... So called eye witness reports and some leaked documents all claim certain unknown technology in great detail. Anything from fibre optics and microchips, over "intelligent metals" to light enhancing glass lenses and seemingly indestructable fibres... Some say that if we would had the option to copy and understand the technology to copy it (without knowing anything about it of course) then the tech boom of the 60' would have been instantly. Imagine flat screen TV's and smartphones with GPS 50 years ago for everyone... ;) 7. Great land in the south - Antartica... The mysteries originating from Antartica range from Atlantis over hidden civilisations and living dinosaurs to the often claimed secret Nazi base with submarines and lost technologies. We all know that life as we know it can't really exists down there, so no strange animals, ancient creatures or a possibility to sustain a secret military base some 60 years ago. Or it there more to it?? Warm lakes containing fresh water with signs of life in them have already been discovered. Same for caves under the ice with temperatures far above freezing - constantly and again with signs of life. Ages ago the continent was still joint with other and in a warmer region so no wonder to find fossils. If we already found places that sustained life for thausands of years then what living things might be down there? Maybe even a place like the Galapagos Islands but for life thought be extinct - imagine Jurassic Park for real under the ice ;) With thriving life, vulcanos, rivers, lakes and all long before the dinosaurs it is not hard to imagine the remains under the ice and carved into the mountains. In todays times it all covered by ice and the sea level is much much higher, so again not hard to imagine that there might be rivers running off under the ice and into the ocean. Some maybe even connected to lakes in a hot spot sustaining life. A secret base from some secret part of the Nazi regime over 60 years ago?? Well, with all we know today about Antartica and is also known about the technological options available at that time it is possible. A submarine could have operated for days or even a few weeks under the ice with support ships available. Not just with so called secret tech but simply with a big sub on a minimum crew and the support of crude ways to reclaim and produce oxygen. If an entrance to a river leading to a suistainable area exists or existed at that time it would have been just a matter of time and endurance to find it. Of course we can't know if it was already found and removed or used since those with capable submarines and technology these days would not talk about it ;) But private or non government explorations map and drill more than ever, so once they hit "restricted areas" or create their own base and research station under the ice we will know ;) What to do if you actually see (or think you do) a real UFO?? Grab the oldest and dirtiest camera aou can find, mount it on the end of your longest fishing pole and create the shakiest video possible. And please make no references at all that would allow to get on the loctation, time or date. Jokes aside there is a good option these days, your modern smartphone, telescope, GoPro or favourite drone. A fake is often uploaded in very bad resolution often so low you might think an old webcam was used. Good fakes are often just a rocket launch, so check for this before you claim it is of unknown origins. Modern tech allows us to record a video in 4K at 60 or even 120FPS , so no excuse for a 320x240 AVI video LOL Optical zoom causes bad results so try to avoid it if possible. Image stabilisation can do wonders for free hand shots of moving objects, so crank it to the max even if the resulting video is a bit smaller in resolution. Geotagging is also a good thing as it allows an easy reference. You might see much more with you eye than what the video show, or in the best case the other way around. That means before you upload take a step back and try too see the video like someone who was not there when it happened! Are the movements reall that impossible? Is it really not just a plane, rocket flares? What sounds did you hear at the time or shortly after that might not be audible in the video? Sometimes a plane in the distance still is in the sunlight while you already stand in the dark - keep elevation in mind ;) Compare with other videos online that claim to be taken around the same time and area - sure you did not film a rocket launch? But if your video is crystal clear and shows the impossible in great detail you might want to check for the usual markings on military aircrafts or flashing lights in green and red. Still all good and impossible to explain? Then what are you waiting for? Tell us where, when and with what type of gear and upload the video so we get evidence of unknown technologies in the use/testing or an actual UFO - Unidentified flying object, until we know better. ;) Again don't take me too serious today but enjoy some of the thoughts and let your imagination wander off a bit. Lost technologies and knowlege exists, existed, is found again - whatever you want to call it. If humans could move stone blocks the size of a small house and create them with an accuracy down to the mm then they might have known more than we think they did. If we could melt granite to form new things, manipulate its sound or carve hollow heads of just a few mm in size then again we lost something well worth knowing. If in ancient times people had no way of seeing really distant and dim stars then how were they able to accurately map them and predict their movement? If milling and lathe technology was known and used when in other parts of the world we were happy to create simple and weak tools: How was it possible to create gears and know about planetary gear systems? If the evidence of the work clearly shows advance technologies used then where are the tools used and why can we find any written records or images of it being used? If even the all mighty US military, secret agencies and space programs fail to explain what they encounter quite often since we fly around: What is really that seems to try to hide from us while appearing to watch how we evolve, explore and fight wars? Since you still bother to read all this nonsense: If it appears we have "evidence" of the existance of beings capable of flying or even space travel since the dawn of time and add all the modern evidence: Is it possible someone or something has been watching us since humans came to be? Did "they" guide some cultures at some stage during their evolution to show us modern ways of creating alloys, machine stuff or understand what was magic or the gods at that time? And if they did help our evolution in some parts then why did this greatly improved society disappear with no more trace than their stone remains? How would we react if they dare to help us again? Is there a reason that even after countless encounters noone tried to shoot one of the UFO's down? I mean, not even a claim for trying since Rosswell..... Not any evidence of a recent landing either..... Or are we just watched so closely because they want something back we too from them??? ;) I blame all spelling mistakes on my annoyingly unresponsive keyboard. But if you still find some then feel free to keep them! I still demand a fee if use them to make money from them ;)

Is there a way to create your own CCTV video cameras from used digital cameras with the capability to take video?

Essentially I want to create a little army of my own CCTV cameras to install around the perimeter of my house as my own security system without relying on the expensive systems available for purchase at a security services store. my Idea is to have the camera wired to a central computer system where all the other cameras are hooked up to. the cameras would also be connected to my houses electrical supply versus powered on rechargeable batteries. the cameras would in effect be set onto the video taking setting for live streaming to the central computer where everything is stored. would this necessitate the creation of a program to accommodate multiple feeds ? Any tips/help/input/complete solution would be awesome thanks

How can I create a two-way internet video connection with remote control of an arduino controlled single servo motor?

Hi! I'm trying to develop a project idea that will enable me to connect to my home while I'm away to feed my saltwater fish. I want to be able to establish a two way live video connection and also be able to control a remote device using an arduino controlled servo motor that will deliver the food with a push of a button or click of a mouse. I'd like to be able to use my smart phone or PC to view and control the device. I have a Nexus 7 tablet at home that I plan to use to connect to the arduino to deliver the food and to see the fish tank. Any detailed input on how I can pursue this would be really appreciated. I am a newbie and need some expert advice. :-) Thanks for your help!

Using a webcam to do digital video from a microscope.

I don't have windows set up for the net so it was nice to buy a cheap webcam that works right away in linux  and skype with my sister and brothers in different parts of the world.  It has a focus ring and I tried it with my microscope and prepared slide.  And then later with greeny water from plant pots in the back garden. It is actually pretty good.  I had to use 2 software programs. I used cheese to open the webcam but it misses frames when it records its own video!  I found that opening recordmydesktop and recording the cheese window or cheese area of the desktop solves the problem. I got the microscope second hand in a thrift store. Next step will be to find a pond and grab some really nice samples. I will grab pics of how I set it up in a while, but for now here is a video of a prepared slide, and focusing through it. <br> I did some other videos too with live specimens from the back garden but nothing really exciting. I still have to work on lighting and making the mount a bit more rigid but for a first attempt it is pretty good. Brian

Robo-Goat Lives - At least I hope he Will

OK here goes. I work at zoo and I am a self taught geek, (mainly old school). I recently volunteered for a project mainly because I'm too stupid to know that it's not possible :~) Purpose of the program/project To - Engineer, Design and Build an Animatronic Robot Goat for: a Cheetah Conservation Fund in Kenya, Africa. This device will replicate a live goat in: size; appearance; movement; sound and smell (smell supplied by others), that can withstand the sever conditions of the desert, durable, possibly solar powered and easy to transport, setup and operate. Note: Up until this point real goats have been tried but they have not been too successful. They were either too stressed or they were stolen for by locals their meat. Objective(s): To lure Cheetahs into an area and enticement them into a cage trap with a simulated live goat (Robo-Goat), to provide a safe humane and ethical capture of wild cheetahs so that recently acquired state of the art GPS/Cellular tracking collars can be placed on them to help gather information to preserve this endangered animal. Analog Radio Tracking Collars have provided the only way to gather much of the information for many different wild animals. Radio Tracking style of the past has always been a difficult and time consuming endeavor, with old style tracking, large heavy radio collars that broadcast a ”beep” continuously, must be tracked with specialized hand-held radios and yagi antennas. All this to locate an animal being studied. Many times you would have to get close enough to disturb the animal just to find out where it is and then try to track it. Obviously not good “normal behavior” data gathering. The new GPS/Cellular systems track the animal in real time and send back data coordinates on the animals location, elevation, speed and direction as it travels. This GPS information is sent via cell towers, (yes they have them in Africa), to a computer that logs and graphs the movements. The research gathered through these efforts may provide the answers to saving these endangered animals. Project design/methods: #1. Establish parameters Record video & audio movements and sounds of normal & panicked goats Research and study movements and demonstrate what mechanical requirements will be necessary to replicate the minimum needed movements - [DONE]. {Raise and lower head; Look left and right; open/close mouth} Determine movement engine {I'm not sure here} {All of the movements are really axial in nature} {At first I was thinking motors but then there are end stops, control systems, ect. To deal with} {next I'm considering solenoids for the low energy requirements and simple full scale movements, except you cant control the speed} {But now I am becoming fixated on model airplane actuators for low weight, low noise and appendage like joints and accessories} {then I ran across "pager motors" and how they are small powerful and inexpensive some how I don't know where to begin} {can you tell this is all still up in the air?} Throw distance & Speed of movement - [DONE]. {Raise and lower head = 90 degrees of arc from base of neck = 5 seconds max} { Look left and right = 90 degrees of arc from left to right with return to normal center point half way = full movement l-r = 2 seconds max i hope} {open/close mouth = 45 degrees of arc from lower jaw = 1 second max} Repetition rate & pattern {random if possible} Determine audio requirements - [DONE]. {this is easy but requires playback trigger synchronized with mouth} The Cosmetics: Determine body and outer skin requirements – [Engineering]. {aluminum wire frame mesh} {foam sculpted head for low mass} {foam wrap suit for body & legs for low mass} {tyvek skin, airbrushed or penned for low mass} {stainless steel / nylon joints for low mass} DB level of normal and panicked goats - [DONE] {I have determined audio system requirements} Determine control system requirements {clueless at this point} Determine power requirements {I'm thinking deep cell marine battery and solar panels to retain charge autonomously} {amp hour rating for battery and solar charging circuit TBD after R&D; tests} {if solar is not feasible them battery exchange schedule TBD} #2 Acquire all electronic and mechanical parts #3 Create mechanicals Fabricate lightweight frame and skeleton structure. Assemble motion joints and motion engine Assemble and test motor functions Determine estimate of MTBF for spare parts, if any #4 Create & install sound system Edit custom audio media for both normal & panicked goats Utilize 12v Solid State Audio Playback Unit # 5 Create Control System #6 R&D; Testing Test charging and power circuit Final assembly #7 Final test Any help to provide suggestions to get me started on the type of engines would be great. tia

Games for LAN play?

So, I live in a dorm now with a few other students. We'd like to play a game together on our personal laptops, but we don't know which ones would be good to play. Requirements: 1. No internet access required. 2. 2-16 players or more. Multiplayer-only games are OK, but single player would be nice too. 3. Mainstream games are fine, but if you know of any indie games, that would be even better. 4. It doesn't have to be new. In fact, from 1990-2008 would be just fine. 5. Most of all, it has to be fun to play. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Remote Control UAV help?

I want to build a small UAV system with a limited budget, ~$350. I like it o transmit live video feed to a ground station with ~2 mile range if possible, and to record the video as it is being taken. A plane recommendation would be nice, but I figured i would buy a rather cheap one and upgrade the transmitter / receiver. This might be possible, or it might just be out of this world, any info will help, thanks.

How can I make a cheap, basic video surveillance system?

I just moved into a two-story house with a lot of poorly-placed windows. I plan on spending most of my time upstairs (as both my bedroom and my workspace are upstairs), and even if I'm downstairs it's hard to see if someone's at the door. I was thinking that I could get a wireless camera set up outside my front door with a live video feed running on my computer, and possibly having it somehow visible downstairs as well. However, I have absolutely no idea how to do that, and other tutorials I've found only take photos, or require an extremely expensive camera. I don't need anything too secure, just a digital peep-hole, essentially. Any ideas and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Gaming is Changing

I used to like console gaming because systems rarely/never costed more than $300, it was simple, and everybody had the same stuff. There were no expensive HDTVs, broadband-requiring/expensive online play, the fanciest peripheral was the rumble pack, and your console didn't do anything except light up a power light if there was no game in it.I'm not rich, my parents have never owned a house, and with all the fancy crap that consoles require and do today, I can't afford even a Wii (not that I'd want one, the novelty has worn off). I'm not saying all these improvements in gaming are bad, but for someone like me, I just don't have the money for a shiny new 360, or even high-speed internet (I live on an acerage and there's no cable in the country) for online muiltiplayer/communication.For now, I'll just have to fondly remember having home tournaments playing Star Wars Episode 1 Pod-Racer on N64 with my friends. What do YOU think about gaming today?

How do I hook up a USB video cam in my truck? Answered

I have a IBM ThinkPad Ultra Port 2 Cam 2 "02K5152" That I want to hook up in my truck but my problem is getting the right power to and at the same time record straight into a video camera so I can keep a live feed going when I need it to. I guess it would be a lot like in a cop car where I can turn it on and off with a switch. I was thinking about getting a USB hub but I still need a way to get the power to it. Is there anyone who could draw up a scamatic so a novice can read it please. It would be of great great help to me to get this going. I have a lot of xtra USB ports from old pc's that I thought about putting together a USB hub my self but I don't know  where and what resisters to use because I havent gotten up to speed on them as fast as I wanted to so im still in the R&R; stage area on that. I took some pic's of the cam so you can see it and im wanting to put it in a 1995 Chevy truck. Also it will need to be removeable quick and easy because of the cold temps of winter and thiefs if you know what I mean. Thanks for any help in advance. I really love this site. D

WImeo is censored in Indonesia

Hi I live in Indonesia and am a great fan of instructables, I recently signed up for Arduino class and robotics class. But turns out Wimeo that you use to show videos is blocked in Indonesia ( to stop people watching porn)  This makes it harder to follow the classes and see results of experiments and so on. Could you also make the videos available on youtube and just put a link in under the videos as that is not blocked here. ? thank you for your attention

How can I rewire the ZOOM on a camcorder to operate it from another location? AKA upgrading a video periscope

I am re-making a "periscope" that I made previously with a CCTV camera at the top and a pair of virtual video glasses (with a tiny lcd screen in front of each eye) at the bottom, and a live video feed in-between. This time I want a zoom control built in, where I can operate the zoom with a little rocker switch at the bottom of the periscope. I found a CCTV camera that will zoom, but I think it needs a whole controller console just to operate the zoom... I think an easier way is to use a camcorder instead of a CCTV camera, because the zoom function works in real time and it's already right there on board. The problem is that I think the zoom switch on camcorders is kind of complicated - rewiring it is likely more difficult than just running two wires from two solder points and sticking my own rocker switch at the end. Any ideas? There are "wired camcorder remotes" which seem like they might be easier to open up and modify, but the zoom switch is the same style as on the camcorder body, so I might run into the same problem.
