I was looking atthis and a while back i had a dream about stealing a four wheel bike and riding it down a hill, but the one in my dream had hydrolics and when i would go around corners i'd hit a switch and a front wheel would kick up and i'd hit 3 wheels around it. think they can make one with airbags or hydrolics?

Hi all, I am not sure this is the right place to pist this but couldnt find any better place. so as the topic mentions im looking for an idea... you are probably asking idea for what? so here it goes im volunteering as a high school mentor for the FIRST robotics competition. this competition is awesome for kids - building a robot from nothing in 6 weeks to do a changing task... this is difficult even for experienced engineers. anyway, we want to teach the kids some useful things before the competition starts, such as working with power tools, sensors, some basic electric circuits and mechanical elements (bearings, sprockets, gears etc.) we tried lectures and classes but it doesnt quite do it, so i thought a good idea would be a nice project that might combine all of the topics mentioned above. so where do i go when i need a good DIY project? instructables! i browsed around but couldnt find something that was exactly what i was looking for... so can anyone help with an idea?

I am looking for ideas here from all you "experts" (where an expert is described as - Ex (a has been) spurt 9 a drip under pressure)) Nothing like insulting the unpaid help! before they start :-) happy New year everyone. OK A friend has a model of a fair ground ride, this is a steam yacht, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zp76RTbqqLk he wants to animate this and would like the motion to be realistic at the scale size. He had tried a number of mechanical solutions, cranks etc but they all give a jerky motion and the real thing is very smooth. Any suggestions. I am inclined to think this is a micro processor solution with either a suitable servo motor or similar driven to mimic the inertia of the real thing. ideas folks?

I am currently trying to complete a project but cant seem to find anything that would work for it. I am trying to make a system that connects to a wire and on the end of the wire is a resistor of some size then it comes back to the box im trying to make and displays a light saying 1. for wire 1. Then move to the next wire and check it and it would display a 6 for resistor system 6(different size resistor for each number) . Check picture for better understanding... http://img.skitch.com/20101031-fhnufcw7axk1kesj7g4yq1qfrd.jpg

I am a science teacher and need help finding a thermostat to fix the department's water distiller. It looks very similar to the "Waterwise 9000 contemporary distiller" but is slightly different in appearance. The basic operation is you fill the reservoir and turn it on, the water boils and is then condensed and drips into the bottle that slides into the front of the device. When the heater reaches a certain temperature a thermostat turns on the cooling fan, when the device cools to below that temperature the cooling fan turns off. There are lots of warnings about running it without the fan because it will burn out the heater. I have tested the heater and it works fine, I can bypass the thermostat and the fan works fine, but the thermostat no longer switches on the fan. If I can find a replacement thermostat that should fix the entire distiller but it seems to be a custom order only for the manufacturer who wants you to buy a whole new distiller. Can anyone suggest an appropriate substitute? The code on the side of the thermostat is: 36tme02 22471 f150-15f p185-97 a0615 I found a similar image on the emerson site for a 36T thermodisc thermostat http://www.thermodisc.com/en-US/Products/Bimetal/Pages/36T.aspx Does anyone know how to figure out the switching temperature from the code from the side of the thermostat? Any suggestions are appreciated!

My PC wnt a bit wonky this morning. Mouse pointer moved around just fine but the system wouldn't recognize any clicks. Well at first i could click on the web browser and open a new tab but that was it. I restarted the system and had the same problem. So i wasn't able to lick to log in. So i tried another mouse and got the same result. Then i tried both mice on different USB connection both on the front and rear of the system. No change. Out of frustration i slammed the mouse down on the keyboard tray a couple of time and then everything started working fine again. Any thoughts on what happened? I suspect it's an issue with the keyboard. Being a wireless keyboard that came with a wireless mouse i think the keyboard had something to do with it. I've had an occasion where the keys stopped working on the keyboard till i moved the receiver around a bit. oh well.

Hello, I am a high school student from Boston, MA looking for a bell jar and corresponding stand/vacuum connection to conduct my experiments. I'm not looking for anything in particular, so long as it's not plastic (it will need to withstand some moderate electron bombardment). If you have anything, even if it's only something you can only lend to me, I am interested! Thanks! Xellers

I'm looking for an instructable that showed how to build a curvy style shelf like that in Alice in Wonderland. It is similar to the one in the link below but had much more detail. I have a friend wanting something similar for their daughter and thought that shelf would be perfect but now can't find it. https://www.instructables.com/id/Curved-Cabinet/

I'm curious about the judging process for contests. Most contests seem to have pretty loose rules and are judged without clear criteria. I put a lot of time and effort into my entries, and many of my instructables get featured, but I've only been a finalist once. If I knew better what judges were looking for, I could target my efforts better. Any suggestions, or could judging criteria be posted somewhere? Like are they looking for the most off-the-wall ideas, best photos, clearest explanations, etc.?

Hey, I'm hoping people here will be able to help me. I'm writing my final year design dissertation about making, hacking and modding culture and I'm looking for some really interesting, dynamic images to use. I'm looking for images that you think sum up the culture of making and hacking. I'm really interested in seeing what people think the essence of the culture is all about. Preferably I'd like them to be your own images and high resolution as I'd love to put them into my dissertation. thank you very much for any suggestions.

Today we started mfr for our new HPV!Due to a miscalculation... We have 15 EXTRA sheets of foam. That's about $210 worth of EXTRA foam! No one ever thought to take in to account that more than one cross section could fit on one piece of foam....The section below was the most funny - my immediate reaction to putting it on was a Squid! And look at all that foam in/on the truck! Here's More Info

I recently did a big edit to an existing project*, and during the edit I set the instructable as "private" (I was spending a couple of evenings on it, and didn't want it seen in the mid-edit mess). Yesterday, I tried the same with another project**, but when I hit the button to make it private, I got a pop-up telling "You're not allowed to look at that". Any chance of a fix? *https://www.instructables.com/id/Cuboid-Globe/ **https://www.instructables.com/id/FidgetCube/
