How much should I sell 30 kgs of knex for?

I want to sell my knex in time for christmas to put it towards a Christmas present (GTX 590) and I have pretty much dead on 30 kgs. I was looking on ebay and the average price seemed to be about £10 per kilo. I think £300 seems a bit too much so I was thinking in the region of somewhere around £250. This is just my opinion but I want yours.

New computer freezing problem

So I just built myself a new computer with the following specs gigabyte motherboard model: GA-MA770T-UD3P (rev. 1.0) phenom 2 tri core processor 4gb ddr3 mushkin ram radeon 4670 tp link wireless card 2 LCD's hooked up to the 4670 Windows 7 64-bit/ XP 64-bit (not at the same time) +tons of cooling so nothing is over heating I installed windows 7 and it kept freezing up every once in a while and I tried just about everything to fix it. Updating bios, cleaning the registry, making sure all the drivers are up to date, all sorts of things. So I thought it was Windows 7 giving me the problem. I uninstall windows 7 and installed windows xp. I loaded up everything got the drivers up to date and after a couple of hours it froze up. Then I rebooted and bam another freeze 3 minutes into being on the computer. And again the next time 15 minutes into being on the computer. Now Im not sure if the freezing is happening on windows 7 for the same reason as on Windows xp and it is driving me crazy not being able to use my new computer Any ideas on what I can do to fix the problem? Thanks for any help. Got some more details. 1) I noticed when I move a window around I my cp usage spikes from 1% to close to 30%. Not sure if this is normal but with tri core 2.8ghz doesnt seem like this is good. 2) When I have 3+ windows open and I drag them over each other it leaves a trail or shadow of its edge so it looks like I am dragging many windows. Sometimes this shadow is just white. 3) Also when I try to install a game the computer will always freeze before it finishes and most of the time right at the beginning. 4) When I press the button to force it to go off and then turn it back on it often just comes up with a black screen and I have to repeat. it always turns on the second time. How can I tell if it is my hardware? Just did a video stress test and benchmark. Everything was normal. Ran "cpu stability test 6.0". Watched it for 20 minutes then I left the computer and came back to see it frozen in screen saver. Speedfan temps- Temp 1- 26c temp2- 25c HD0- 26C core- 15c It is pretty cold in my room. I also found something that makes it freeze every single time I have done it so far. When trying to install world of warcraft as soon as I click agree in the install setup it freezes. 6 out of 6 times. My power supply is 500w "stable power"

How to get this bell to work? Answered

I picked up this bell today at my local junk store for 50 cents. I hooked up a 9 volt to it and it rang once. Is there a simple way to make it ring a lot when i flip the switch? Thanks

PC Internet connection trouble? Answered

Hi, So recently my PC started getting connection trouble at first it said after about 10 mins. Internet connection lost, then I fixed it and it was okay again for about 10 mins etc. But now I have no Internet at all. A few useful facts - It's a very old PC but everything else works perfectly fine. - I have tried the difference between Firefox, Chrome and Internet explorer. - I have Windows XP professional I don't know the bits i'l check and update soon. - I am using an Internet plug (as shown in the picture.) - That internet plug works fine when I use it on a laptop (currently using that) even when it is in exactly the same spot/plug. - For those who are familiar with these plugs: all the three lights are on, and glow steadily. - The trouble has only started for about a month or two. before that it was perfectly fine. - The PC nor the router has recently been moved or something. - Even though my Internet connection is crappy all the other things in our home work perectly fine at the same time (other PC's and the Xbox etc.) Is there a cheap way to solve this? remember it is an old one so I don't want to spent much money on it. If you feel like there's some info missed out please tell me and i'll try and update that ASAP. Thanks, AUG-5OM3.

how to test LOTS and LOTS of batteries?

We have 420 panasonic 2800mAH 3.7V 18650 batteries, which we plan to use in a solar car. I was wondering if anyone is aware of how to many of these at a time. Many of the commercial "capacity tester 18650" online appear to only test a cell at a time. This would take way too long. We need to ensure the cells we are connecting together are well-matched in terms of ESR, capacity, leakage, etc. So is there any solution that exists to accomplish this task?

Any tips on memorizing a lot of information?

I'm going to be doing a really important test soon, but I have to essentially remember a lot of information, mostly geographical in the province that I live in and multiple choice. So far, I've been creating flash cards, but wondered if anyone could offer up some other good tips in keeping track of large amount of information, (as its important that I do well on this). I appreciate any and all suggestions, but I'll pick the most helpful answer as the best answer. ~ canucksgirl

Projects that use up LOTS of LEDs?

I recently bought a pack of 1000 LEDs off of eBay. I thought they were going to be white, but they ended up being blue. I made some underbody lights for my RC car, but I still have around 900 of them. Does anyone have any ideas of projects that would use up a bunch of them?

Annoyed a lots by Pro Membership renewal

OK, so I was a PRO member for 24 months and during that time my little projects got over 30K views... maybe that is nothing, maybe it something... due to the nature of the material I write about, I personally think it is a lots. However, surely 30K eyes viewing the articles and the adverts posted all about the pages generate some ad revenue for Instructables.  To think that I'm going to pay again for a renewal ... well, folks, it will NOT happen.  Instructables give away PRO memberships for all manner of things, from new groups to 90 days for a Featured Author. I am seriously thinking about dumping this whole Instructables thing... It is my opinion that as long as an author is active and publishing regularly and generating reasonable interest, then the PRO tools should be available to her.  I did not mind paying my way into the PRO club the first time, but renewal is simply not going to happen at my expense.  If I dump Instructables, I will unpublish everything. Your move Instructables... you are a neat way to share information, but I really do not need you.  I can just hop over to Arduino.cc and forum myself to death... I'm there often anyway. Powering a lot of individually addressable LEDs

I have been toying with an idea for a while of making permanent holiday light fixtures with individually addressable LEDs. The problem I continually run up against is that these types of LEDs all run on 5v power, I believe because of the driver that controls them. They have high voltage AC strips, but they aren't addressable.  If I take Adafruit's "Dotstars" as an example, they require 60ma of power per led at full brightness. A typical holiday display may require up to 250 feet of lights. If those lights are spaced at a typical 2.75 in apart that's 1091 lights. This becomes 65455ma or 65.5 amps of power. That's a stupid amount of power required for some holiday lights. Are there any high voltage individually addressable leds on the market? Is such a thing even possible? If not, is there some type of wallwart that might help me solve this problem in a safe less power hungry way?

HELP with P channel MOSFET.?

I've got a P MOSFET to connect some LEDs to 5v, regardless of where I connect the gate, the MOSFET (and the LEDs) always stay ON. Iv'e tried connecting the gate to 5 volts (on the source), to the drain, even to a higher voltage (13v) and nothing, current keeps passing through. I have checked my connections and pinout diagrams and they are all correct, but i thought that the MOSFET would let current pass when the gate was connected to Gnd and block it when it was connected to 5v (same as source), am I wrong? please help, i'm lost and i have found nothing useful on the web. PD i'm trying to control it with an arduino, and I have had no luck whatsoever.

New to LEDs, need to wire lots of them

I've never worked with LED lights before.  I'm putting on a show and I want to have lots of little points of light in space in a dark theater.  I'm talking hundreds of them.  I considered fiber optics, but that started looking way too expensive.  Is it possible with LEDs?  Is it expensive?  How to I learn how to do it?

I am wanting to be able to line up the dvds something like a carousel but would rather have them in a row so that i can make more rows to add more disc.  I was thinking of using those clear plastic discs that are packed in spinals of discs but i cant even figure out what to call them so i can order bulk of them. If I cut each one in half (the clear plastic disc) then they would be good spacers. and help would be Great. Thank You In Advance.   A robot arm will be doing the retrieval.

Huge knex lot. 30 lbs. appraise?

Aight, so im back. for a short period of time, that is.   I've realized that over the past few months i haven't touched my knex. Its become a childish past obsession to me. So, yeah, i've decided to sell the knex. Its 30 pounds of good pieces. Not the crappy pieces that no one uses. All the good stuff. Im talkin 250+ yellow 5ways. 1000+ green rods. Every piece imaginable. This was enough to make the Knexsayer, the tr18, and some oodaammo pistol at the same time. I've had a good time here, but , time to move on. So, how much for it? i was hoping to get above 150. i'll probably put it on ebay....

How can I melt a lot of snow quickly? Answered

At work, I've got a mound of snow piled up about eight feet high and it's right over a staff member's parking spot.  The sun is helping to melt it and I began to shovel a little bit out each day, but I was wondering if there were any other handy tricks to melt it quickly. I can't use fire and I don't have enough salt. Any ideas?

Solar tracker and concentrator: lots of things getting finished.

I'm kind of entering the home stretch on my year long (so far) solar energy prototype, getting the various components finished off and thought yall might be interested. Automatic save feature wasting a lot of time and energy

While I was writing a lengthy instructable my parts list step was somehow pasted to every other step erasing what I had previously written.  I had already saved my work before this so I thought I could just go back to my previous save.  Too bad my work was automatically saved.  This feature is terrible.  Please get rid of it, we all know how to use a save button. I suppose the actual bug was in my one step being copied over every other step wasting a ton of my time.

Is is risky to move lots of files around on a flash drive?

I have a large solid-state external drive and a 128G flash drive I use as backups for my computer, and I need to do some organizing with the files on them.  When I started storing data on them I was using Windows 7, but I've been using Linux Mint for over a year now and would like to reorganize my backups around the Mint Home folder rather than My Documents.  The drives contain a mountain of old files from the Windows machine (60+ gigs), and I'm worried that if I start rearranging massive groups of files that I could lose some of the old data. The machine I'm using now is Linux Mint.  The drives are setup as NTFS and Fat32.  Is there any risk on moving so much around, or does the computer simply change the address path and leave the data sitting where it is?  Is there some kind of best-practice for this kind of procedure to minimize any risk of loss? Thanks.

RF Development Kit-Advanced, but could be a lot of fun

Micrel SemiconductorEbay{{{ I have noticed that some people are concerned that due to surface mount technology you can't make electronic stuff anymore. It is not true. A search will quickly find forums discussing how homebuilt electronics experimenters are getting around this. I have a nifty RF development kit for sale on ebay. See ebay link below. These development kits are used by new product developers to quickly get their RF prototypes up and running to develop software, hardware and firmware without the steep learning curve associated with starting development with discrete components. These boards allow you to build custom devices that can comunicate with each other up to a mile apart. Although this is not quite ham worthy distance someone might be able to have some fun with the kit. I have just one, but more (and the actual rf chip) could be acquired through Micrel Semiconductors. Anyway, I have this listed as an industrial item, so I am not sure the right people will see the ad. For those interested in playing with current technology RF.}}}

Two Hands Two Legs and lots of walking in SF

And we're off! The documentary tour of hacker spaces in America starts off in Boston with an early breakfast:At 3:30 on September 8 I began making the WOD's [waffles of departure] and gathered my friends. This was it, I was having my goodbye breakfast. We sat around a giant LED display that was playing tetris on autopilot like we were at a sports bar and called the AI engine out on it's bad plays. Choice is the name of the game in AI, how do you make the optimal choices with limited knowledge about the present and doubt about the future?I drank my cocoa considering the choices I've made to hit the skies and shoot a documentary on hackerspaces, and it filled me with exhilaration. What could be more critical than doing something that gives you the energy to do the thing you want to be doing? There has to be this ignition point to push the chooser into action, creating this snowball of awesome gathering steam as it goes downhill. Rather than chilling with Sysiphus on his uphill downhill journey. Feeling energized, feeling pumped, I called my friends around me and we ate to good health and poured generous libations of yogurt smoothie [Spilled the contents of the blender on the floor]. **************Later that very evening I found myself SSFed :: Suddenly in San Francisco:Walking down 17th street passing bodega after fruit market after bodega and suddenly we intersected. The assembly of the Two Hands Project was complete as we fortuitously intersected directly at the gates to NoiseBridge nouveau. An odd bunch from Chicago/Alaska, Michigan/Boston, and Florida/notsureyet we were meeting for the first time since the inception of the project, and we were ready to rock. Having almost no equipment after meeting up with Mitch and experiencing excellence and consensus in action we go to Sadies house (what a great lady), stay up late, and work all night. Starting the tradition that will continue to this day. Hopping on Paul's tiny folding bike I run across town gathering Mic's, video cameras and miracle fruit. Meeting up with the crew dazed and confused walking around town with tons of gear on their back we were glad to have a brief breakfast with SkyT, Mitch and FBZ before checking out the reMakeLounge. At the reMakeLounge we met up with Inna who saved our lives, 300 times. With her help we were able to talk with the folks at the Internet Archive where we met up with Mang. She drove us over to Oakland, back to SF, and finally back to the Airport. If there's one lady that made the SF leg of this trip possible it was Inna.Mang and his roommate Mike have an awesome Hacker Space appended to their home. We were given a rare peek into Radish Research which they opened up to us. It's been amazing how much people have opened up to us this trip! I'd like to take this moment to thank you all for your kindness, generosity and ability to withstand the rush that is The Two Hands Project. Hee!Posting would happen more frequently if it weren't for the emergency nature of this trip. But keep an eye out, I'll be posting shorter things more regularly I hope._Bilal GhalibAnd now, a brief video of the first leg of our trip:
