Is it just me, or does kipkay (and a lot of the maker community in general, but I noticed it most with kipkay) have a suspiciously creepy amount of spying makes. For example:http://blog.makezine.com/archive/2009/01/weekend_project_portable_spy_scope_1.htmlhttp://blog.makezine.com/archive/2008/08/weekend_project_aircraft.htmlhttp://blog.makezine.com/archive/2008/06/weekend_project_parabolic_1.htmlthere's others, but I can't find them

I am getting a little annoyed by how the layouts are always changing. And I bet a lot of other people are too. ...so I got an idea that there should be a poll, showing all of the previous layouts, and maybe a few new ones, where the Instructables community could vote and pick their favorite one. Leave a comment on what you think about this, or give some other suggestions...

Which interpretation of quantum physics do you prefer? Personally I favour the Many Worlds interpretation as it better explains how the particle 'chooses' what state it collapses into, whereas when I consider the Copenhagen interpretation, it makes me think that the particle is deciding, which bothers me, obviously. However, the Many Worlds interpretation throws up many issues, such as the problem of probability (if a universe is created for every possible outcome, the probability of anything is 1, including say, your computer randomly exploding now). Which is quite ridiculous. But still, to me, a better explanation. So your thoughts?

I have an LED that is supposed to take about 2.8 to 3.4 volts. A single 3v coin cell works great. However, if I use two or three of those batteries, it gets ULTRA bright. My question is, what harm is this doing? Risk of burning out the light, causing heat, other bad things??? What exactly would happen over prolonged use?

Instructables just got in a brand new shipment of t-shirts today. Being that I get to count and stock them, I decided to take a little bit of extra time and write up a forum topic about it. Why you ask? Well let me tell you. We have a whole lot of extra t-shirts right now, and I think it would be fun to give one away. So here's the deal: Take a couple of glances at the pictures posted, and let me know how many t-shirts you think we have here at headquarters. The person who is closest gets a t-shirt (and possibly a couple of other goodies). Now here's a little fine print. I know there are a lot of people out there who already have t-shirts and have no desire to have another one. So for those of you who already have a t-shirt, try to win one for someone else. Upon wining this little grab bag, I'll pm the user and ask who they want their t-shirt to go to. The winner is by all means welcome to keep it, but if they already have one, I would hope they will donate it to a user in need, who has always wanted one, but never had the means to get one. One last thing: I'll give everyone two guesses. Any more then two and you disqualify yourself from winning. If anyone manages to get the number spot on, you'll get (what I consider) and awesome grab bag (that I've not yet devised), as well as two additional t-shirts that you can give to whomever. This package is going to be shipped out Monday afternoon, so all entries need to be in by Monday, 1000 PDT! Good Luck. UPDATE 1: The answer to this query, is 493. Now it's time to search through the results and see where people are. Give me a half hour and I'll publish the results. UPDATE 2: FINAL RESULTS! Surprisingly, no one guessed the exact answer. TNEN guessed 495, which just beat out KevinMatchstick by 1. Which makes TNEN our t-shirt champion! -I will be contacting TNEN to see if he wants the t-shirt, or if he is going to be giving it to someone else. For making my laugh, both 9VoltWiseMan and caitlinsdad will get to donate a shirt to someone in need (fine print: it can't be for them, and who they give it to can't already have one). So I will be contacting them as well. Thank you everyone for guessing! Hopefully I have time during the next shipment to take pictures again!

I am trying to make a learning guitar that has an LED at every fret (so around 120 individual LED outputs), and after lots of research I am finding it difficult to find a way to control that many LEDs individually. I want to be able to turn on multiple LEDs at once for a chord so using a matrix array will cause unintentional LEDs to come on.

Big movie companies have these server type things (rendering clusters?) for processing their 3D and graphics renderings. I found this on makezine as an example of someone who did a linux home version, but there is no description of how it works. I would like to make a windows render cluster but I need some help. There are two reasons I want to do this: 1- I will be able to run my PC uber-fast, and 2- I can create some big time giant renderings of 3d models. I would really appreciate some help. Thanks.

I was bored. Yeah. Whoever guesses closest to the real number of Oodammo's gets..... A sub, and 5's+faves on all 'ibles. I'd give out a patch, but..... No pro yet. Also, if you see the anomaly, and tell me where, and what it is, you get the same thing. EDIT: Guesses will be invalid after Dec. 5th. EDIT2: I just realized, people might think I cheated when I tell, as in, to give the win to someone who was wrong. So I'll PM the answer to someone who already guessed. They will not tell you. BIGDYLAN91 SPOTTED THE ANOMALY, HE GETS THE PRIZE, BUT EVERYONE CAN STILL GUESS FOR AMOUNT. ============================================================================= THERE ARE 125 PIECES OF OODAMMO IN THE BUCKET. Hey! I was wondering I want to 1 pin on my ATtiny2313 to turn on 10 LEDs at once, but I know that I should have that many LEDs hooked up to the same pin. Can I use a simple transistor (3904, 2N222A) as a switch? Sorry I am very ignorant about transistors and capacitors :D

I'm just curious i assume there is at least one terabytes of music in the world, so how many terabytes of music or even petabytes of music are there in the world? don't make it too complex, don't worry about the resolution of the recording just keep it simple. if you could cite a source that would be great, or explain yourself. thanks!
