I recently ordered a new mp3 player, to be exact it was the (Ematic 1.5" Color 4GB MP3 Video Player) and the store info said that the 4 gig memory could hold up to 40 hrs of  music or videos. Now I'm open minded but that seems like a strech to me. So does anybody know if a 4 gig memory could hold that much?

What was the very first comment you ever posted on this site. The comment that made you part of this great community. For me it was this:"Um... *spits out Good N Plenty and stairs in horror*If You want to eat fewer bugs, Try inspecting each rasberry before putting in mouth. ATtiny85 memory and ATtiny2313 memory?

Ok I just looked at the datasheets for my ATtiny85 and my recently bought ATtiny2313. The 2313 has 20 pins, and the 85 has 8. What I don't get is the ATtiny85 has 8000 bytes of memory and the ATtiny2313 only as 2000 bytes of memory!!? Why does the ATtiny85 have significantly more memory and it's only 1/3 the size of the ATtiny2313? I know this sounds silly but why? How can I find other chips like ATtiny2313 but with more memory? Thanks!

Why less memory usage with more memory??

So.... seandogue uses a circa 1995 2005  (doh!) computer as his main desktop workstation (he also has a nearly brand spankin new superduperree laptop, but it's just not gertrude, if you know what i mean...) Anyway... My computer is old, yes, but relatively solid. A bit sketchy since it's XP but whatever. The issue is memory and memory usage. I just added a pair of 2G modules to boost it's effective memory from 2 to 3 G. )XP old and only acknowledge s the first 3 even though my machine can accept up to 8G Prior to the upgrade, my initial memory usage upon completion of windows load (desk is up and no more hourglass backgroundy stuff) usage was about 800M, prior to loading any "actionable" software (Ie, ignoring the sundry processes and applications that run automatically after on at boot...I mean programming IDEs, notepads, calculators, email, browsers, photoshop, cad progs, winamp, labview, music comp, etc.)  And now? darn if my baseline  memory load hasn't dropped over 60%, down to ~490M So. what gives, ibles-sages? Me, I'm stumped (seriously) .At first, I thought to myself, 'hrrrrm... maybe it has something to do with swapping...', but then almost immediately I discounted that, since I hadn't reached threshold for swap to engage. Then I thought,  "Is it possible there was damage on the 1G chips that would go unrecognized  but would cause memory load to be higher than it should have been? Are newer modules more efficient or something?" To add to the confusion, it *seems (I haven't done any serious forensics and really don't want to have to) . applications of various sorts seem to take less memory as well. Then I came here. kinda tired of hashing out every single solution all by my lonesome and I'm hoping someone will be able to clear that confusion up with an authoritative response. Just doesn't make sense to me why my load would drop by such a significant amount, and I'm really and truly tired as hell of speculating and of speculation.. Speculation eats time like dime store candy surrounded by a hundred hungry children. and it more often than not produces erroneous output.. (no, not looking to debate the efficacy of speculation either, My best feature is the ability to speculate, and it pays to know how, but even I get tired of living in a nebula of "there is no like right like answer" 100% of the time.) So heps a mind-worn joe, aye?  Someone please tells me in no uncertain terms why this is? >>>>  More memory added, less memory used? I really don't want to launch another google search that may or may not  yield the answer after reading a few hundred erroneous or misleading posts. To be very clear, the system is behaving BETTER, not WORSE, with the new modules, even when operating at quiescence, where max memory overruns (and the subsequent swapping that such overruns spur) aren't an issue.  thanks gracias danka...

PC 133 Memory

This is just a quick forrum post telling anybody who is interested where they can find old PC 133 memory. I don't know if any other nerds are still running old old old computers that use PC 133 memory but I sure am. I know from experience that sometimes it can be very hard to find memory sticks for upgrade/replacement. But here is a great place to get 256mb modules of old PC 133 memory: The memory modules are new and are pretty cheap. Goldmine Electronics also has lots of other cool stuff. Hope this helps some of you.

Resin + a memory stick?

I'm trying to make a memory stick out of a cast of a wedge of lime. I will fill the cast with clear resin and place the memory stick in, and wait for it to harden. When the lime wedge is hard, with the memory stick inside,i plan to cut off the end of the wedge for a lid, so that the male part prodtrudes out when the lid is taken off. Does anyone know how i could cover the end bit of the memory stick so the resin doen't affect it? Also, looking at the lego block instructions, I plan to remove the plastic cover of my memory stick. Will the bare electrics be affected by the resin? If this makes any sense i'd be glad of any ideas! Thank you!

P2P service found to make connection between LSIS devices and other devices. This service requires inter the read and write memory address for ESP8266 with condition that the address must has 5 digit. Knowing that I use simple diode connection on GPIO pin-14. The problem is when I search for ESP8266 memory map addresses, I find it (0x60000360) 8 digit and this return error from PLC side. Please can any one help me?

Things to do with Old Memory

Hey Guys, I work as a Tech for a hospital that is constantly replacing and upgrading equipment. We get old junk all the time---hard drives, cd rom drives, motherboard, etc. We take them apart and play with the motors or whatever we can salvage, but one thing we've never found a use for is Memory, and we have a LOT of it. We have hundreds of modules laying around collecting dust, all mostly 128mb sticks ranging from pc100 to pc2700. My question is this: Are there any cool things we can do with it other than just throw it away? I haven't been able to think of a single thing other than making some kind of sculpture )which I'm not really in to. I'm looking forward to your responses.

Adding a motor to a USB Memory Stick

Hi there, I've got this idea for adding a small motor to a USB thumb drive, for decorative purposes, but I have some concerns.  I'm considering adding a very small motor such as this one:  but I'm weary about the effects of having a motor drawing from the same power as the memory stick.  Might this cause problems during read/write sessions?  Also, I'm not the most electrically savvy person, so I just wanted a second opinion on whether the 5V from the USB (and 100mA?) should be enough to run the motor. (In my case, torque and speed are not huge issues) I've also noticed that the motor is listed as requiring 3V, and I'm sure since this is such a small and delicate motor, it would probably be damaged by the 5V supply.  Could anybody help me with the circuit elements that would allow for safely operating the motor?

(PS: This is me :-) )I might be older than dirt but those memories are the best part of my life.'Senility Prayer'...God grant me...The senility to forget the people I never liked; The good fortune to run into the ones that I do,And the eyesight to tell the difference.''Hey Dad,' one of my kids asked the other day, 'What was your favorite fast food when you were growing up ? ' 'We didn't have fast food when I was growing up,' I informed him. 'All the food was slow.''C'mon, seriously. Where did you eat ?''It was a place called 'at home, I explained. 'Grandma cooked every day and when Grandpa got home from work, we sat down together at the dining room table, and if I didn't like what she put on my plate I was allowed to sit there until I did like it.'By this time, the kid was laughing so hard I was afraid he was going to suffer serious internal damage, so I didn't tell him the part about how I had to have permission to leave the table. But here are some other things I would have told him about my childhood if I figured his system could have handled it:Some parents NEVER owned their own house (my Dad did, it cost him $14,000 for a 3 bedroom rancher), wore Levis , set foot on a golf course, traveled out of the country or had a credit card. In their later years they had something called a revolving charge card. The card was good only at Sears Roebuck. Or maybe it was Sears AND Roebuck. Either way, there is no Roebuck anymore. Maybe he died.My parents never drove me to soccer practice. I had a bicycle that weighed probably 50 pounds, and only had one speed, (slow). We didn't have a television in our house until I was 8. It was, of course, black and white, but they bought a piece of colored plastic to cover the screen. The top third was blue, like the sky, and the bottom third was green, like grass. The middle third was red. It was perfect for programs that had scenes of fire trucks riding across someone's lawn on a sunny day. Some people had a lens taped to the front of the TV to make the picture look larger. I was 14 before I tasted my first pizza, it was called 'pizza pie.' When I bit into it, I burned the roof of my mouth and the cheese slid off, swung down, plastered itself against my chin and burned that, too. It's still the best pizza I ever had.We didn't have a car until I was 9. Before that, the only car in our family was my grandfather's Ford. He called it a 'machine.' It started by pushing a button on the dashboard. I never had a telephone in my room. The only phone in the house was in the living room and it was on a party line. Before you could dial, you had to listen and make sure some people you didn't know weren't already using the line.Pizzas were not delivered to our home. But milk was.All newspapers were delivered by boys and all boys delivered newspapers. I delivered a newspaper, six days a week. It cost 7 cents a paper, of which I got to keep 2 cents. I had to get up at 4 AM every morning.. On Saturday, I had to collect the 42 cents from my customers. My favorite customers were the ones who gave me 50 cents and told me to keep the change. My least favorite customers were the ones who seemed to never be home on collection day.Movie stars kissed with their mouths shut. At least, they did in the movies. Touching someone else's tongue with yours was called French kissing and they didn't do that in movies. I don't know what they did in French movies. French movies were dirty and we weren't allowed to see them.Growing up isn't what it used to be, is it ?MEMORIES from a friend:My Dad is cleaning out my grandmother's house (she died in December) and he brought me an old Royal Crown Cola bottle. In the bottle top was a stopper with a bunch of holes in it. I knew immediately what it was, but my daughter had no idea. She thought they had tried to make it a salt shaker or something. I knew it as the bottle that sat on the end of the ironing board to 'sprinkle' clothes with because we didn't have steam irons. Man, I am old.

Ardunio Uno Keypad Pin Memory

Hello everyone, I am having trouble making an Arduino code using an Ardunio Uno, and a 4x4 keypad. Quick background, I just started working at a school to help them out with CAD drawings, and they are working on a project.  The students have to make a "cabinet" that has doors or drawers or whatever they wanted.  the door has to lock with a solenoid, and be opened with a pin from a keypad.  The reason is the students will store Ipads in there to charge and so that nothing gets taken. They want the students to put their Ipad into one part of the cabinet, then close the door, lock the door, and put in a pin for that door.  then they want the student to be ale to put in their pin and their door opens.  This would allow each student to put in their own pin, They don't want pre programmed pins as the students that use the room changes over a lot. The biggest trouble so far is none of the teachers know how to make the Ardunio save a pin to memory, and then check the memory when a pin is put in.  So if anyone could help point me in the direction of how to do that, or help with the code hat would be great. Thanks, P.S. I'm a mechanical engineering tech student helping with CAD simply because I know it well enough.  and I don't know much programming.

Comment going down the memory hole....

As has been reported by other users, I occasionally end up posting "invisible" comments, either at the top level, or as replies to someone else.  These comments are visible to me when I view the forum topic, Question, or Instructable (and the comment count includes them in that view!).  However, the forum browsing page doesn't show them (neither as "last post" nor in the count), and they are not visible to any other users. My most recent example is in BIGHAIRYDUDE's bug report. I posted one comment at 4:18 pm (CAGESVXGGMMFD6M), and another at 5:08 pm (CTRYNTKGGMMFDBI). Those strings are the commentId values, which I can see on the page when I do "view source"! I constructed the URLs by hand. If I use those links in another session where I'm not logged in, they don't work. But if I log in there (on Safari, so there's no chance of cookie or cache confusion), then my comments appear! This behaviour is unpredictable. It seems to happen once or twice a week. When it does, the particular forum topic or whatever is affected permanently (i.e., any comment I try to post is invisible), but other topics are not affected at all. I know that's going to make it hard to isolate and fix, but I'm hoping that the IDs might be of some help...

Will an older motherboard which, according to specs, can run DIMM memory of 400 or less, still work with DIMM 800 or so?

DIMM 400 is obsolete, so it not easily available in strips of 1G or higher. But 512 MB of DIMM 400 is almost the same price as a more modern memory strip of 2G! Since the pin-out is the same, I was wandering if the more recent kind, like DIMM 800 would still work, but perhaps at a slower rate. If I would try, would it just not work, or would it fry (or fry the motherboard)?
