"Most Popular" ... ?

I was curious how the "Most Popular" section on the front page works, it's great and shows some wonderful Instructables, but I'm curious as to how an Instructable with just 67 views gets #1 on the list. Is it views / time? Comments / time? Thanks!

Most Useful

I was just curious what tools or techniques folks found most useful in their projects. For me it is the Dremel and epoxy.

Home page most pop? Answered

What are the criteria to get into the most popukllar box on the home page - my post - geodesic green house rated 4.3 and over 100 views the top of the mort pop box no rating and 311 views ??  Don't get it.

Question by rickharris 7 years ago  |  last reply 7 years ago

It has come to my notice that the title of this box, (Most Popular), is at best misleading - It appears that to get in it you only need to be featured and may indeed have a VERY low view count  - 2 views -  Hardly most popular. see this question thread A bug or intentional?? Richard Harris

As in indestructible I mean indestructible to impact, like it can stop a speeding bullet and it wont make a dent, and it's strong enough to block a jack hammer, basically very strong.

Your Most Painful Moments.

I was wondering with all the home crafted weapons what you would classify as the MOST painful moment in you life so far. When were you in the most pain of your life time, was it after being shot with a paint ball gun or when you stubbed you toe against that stupid door. Ohh and once you have remembered remember to give it a pain rating from 1 to 10, 1 being not too painful and 10 extremely painful. I'm sorry if it brings back bad memories but i was just interested. My most painful moment was when i was playing cricket we used to whittle out points to make the stumps then flick them in to the ground, one time i over judged it and it hit me hard on the shin I sat with an ice pack on it for about 2 hours and had a lump the size of an egg!

Your most prized possessions

Well, I just wanna make a forum topic for the heck of it, and to inform people that I'm not dead. So, what are your most prized possessions? Mine would have to be: - My many weapons (If I have to choose, then my heirloom Katana sword and my oh-so-very-handy 26 inch extendable ASP Baton) - My Nintendo DS, PSP, PS2, PS3, Wii - My 'school sucks like a b****' T-shirts So, what are your prized possessions?

They included a search box, so you can find your favorite sites. Just make sure you put in a "www." and a ".com", otherwise the search won't work. Enjoy! Via Engadget Source NMAP

most recent should be on the home page

I recently posted an instructable but I don't think anyone saw it. I didn't even see it appear. The problem is that the home page for instructables.com shows Featured and Popular. I thought the most recent used to appear on the home page. Am I wrong about this? To get to the most recent ones, i have to create the following link: https://www.instructables.com/tag/type:id/?sort=RECENTIt seems like new instructables don't get noticed easily. If I am wrong, tell me what I need to do.

Most Powerful Laser Built in Texas

Over in Texas, a new laser has been built that can zap with a full petawatt of power. That's a quadrillion watts (that's 15 zeros) of power that gets blasted in 150 pemtoseconds. While this is not the most powerful laser ever made (that was a 1.25 petawatt laser) it is the most powerful laser currently operational. All for the cost of $7 million. So what's the point of it all?"We can put materials into states that you can't access here on earth," said Mikael Martinez, the laser project's manager. "You'd have to go out into space and hang out with an exploding star to observe what we plan to observe here in Texas."Check out the full article at Wired to see how they pull off this trick.

Log in screws up most of the time.

I have a service that records all my passwords, usernames and logins, etc. as I type them in. It works perfectly everywhere and all the time except on your site. How come your site can't reliably find the information I typed in to open the account and that was simultaneously recorded by the top rated password service on the net?  Sometimes it opens, mostly it doesn't. Can you help?

Most awesome number of total downloads

I created an add on for Firefox back in December, to allow me to control Azureus (running on my server) from any of the computers on my network. I put it on addons.mozilla.org and promptly forgot about it... last week I got an email regarding support for FF3, so I banged out a fix and went to upload it... just for fun I checked the stats page, and found awesomeness.note, Iwouldn't normally be so amazed by this, but 171 daily users is pretty cool for absolutely no advertisement and a tiny niche target audience.

Which ible is most highly rated?

Browsing the instructables, you can't sort by favorite.   If there was a battle royale between the most favorited instructables, which one do you think would win? I realize it's hard to say:  Some ibles have been here a long time, so their favorite stats are higher.  Some ibles deal with less popular topics, but are super popular for the people who are interested in it.  So go ahead and make some allowances, and tell me about them. My two picks from what I've been able to search: 3031 fav, 3.9 million views, 2011 https://www.instructables.com/id/Led-Cube-8x8x8/ 3732 fav, 3.6 milion views, 2007 https://www.instructables.com/id/Paracord-bracelet-with-a-side-release-buckle/ Not sure which one I would pick.  The bracelet one is really old, but has about as many views as the LED one, so the ratio of fav/view, it wins.  But from a fav/age standpoint, the paracord bracelet wins.
