Mp3 Player Mod?

I'm not really sure if this is the right forum to talk about this. I did go to Tech, but I saw a topic about MP3 player Skin Mods here, so I thought if I could ask for some help. I have an Mp3 Player, it's cute, runs on AAA batteries and an SD Card. Here is the problem though. It lacks any sort of Display.  Like it's one of those screen less ones you find.  I do have a spare screen lying over from a cellphone, so I was wondering if it could be possible to modify the inner workings of my MP3 Player so that I can finally see the name of the song I'm listening to. xP

Explosive music player

There was much fear and freak out [when the box was opened]. But cooler heads prevailed and a phone call was made. “Hey Matt, did you order metal objects of a dubious nature?” Find out what they did, and how, here. Button Activated MP3 Player

I need to buy or build a device to play a single song in MP3 format on the push of a button, similar to one of those used in stuffed animals or greeting cards. I need to be able to hook it up to a small external speaker to make it a little louder. I a building a Nickelodeon Guts trophy for a friend of mine and would like to put this device in the base with a button on the top or front to play the theme song. Any ideas how I can go about buying or building something like this? I'm on a shoestring budget here, and not terribly handy with electronics, so I really need some advice.

speaker connection for an MP3 player

My friend has asked me to make something so he can connect his stereo speakers into his MP3 player. They are speakers that have the black and red wires that you put into the back of the stereo, no plugs or anything and i already know what im going to make but im just not sure on the soldering points. I'm going to get a hobby box cut a hole in the front of it and put in a board of four speaker plugs then solder all of those to a cable that can plug into his MP3 player. Should i just solder all the black cables together and all he red cables together inside the box then connect them to the red and black cable to the MP3 player? The photos are the speaker plugs in going to use and a crappy MS paint picture of what im talking about

push button mp3 player?

Hey. I was hoping somebody could help me with an idea i have for a costume. I'm making a costume for Tony Stark from Iron Man 3, with the headset. I can make the headset, but I wanted to add something to it. I want to be able to put a small device that will play sounds (JARVIS quotes) when you push a button. What I'm envisioning is something like you see in some toys. It has multiple sounds, but one button. It plays through one sound effect when you push the button, the next one the next time you push it, and so on. I've seen ones that will do a sound for each button with multiple buttons, but that's not really what I want. One button, multiple sounds, and it cycles through them. Thanks.

Broken audio on mp3 player with vid screen - can anything be done with the unit?

Hi! A while ago, my mp3 player broke:  the audio doesn't work, yet the video part works.  I hate to throw the unit out so I was wondering if anyone has had a similar situation, and what they might have done to make the unit useful again. I could use it for storage (it's 2 gig) but it seems like a waste since it would have a screen that wasn't being put to good use.  Then again, without audio, any video would be as good as it cold be. Any ideas would be appreciated.  (I'm a novice at electronics - I'm hoping that an idea for its use will b e figured out - that doesn't require me removing the screen (since i am not that advanced in electronics) Thanks and have a great day! :)

Advice required for audio playback from an IC

Hi All, I'm new here so go easy on me :) I need to throw together a circuit to play an MP3 when a switch is closed (Think musical greeting card rather than iPod).  The fundamental issue is a lack of knowledge re: mp3 playback on ICs. Is there a handy light-weight MP3 playback chip kicking around? Presumably I'll need to provide memory, an amp and various other bits. Does anyone know of an SoC that does something this already? I've seen the SOMO-14D (http://www.sparkfun.com/products/9534) but it seems to be very low quality and temperamental. Does anyone have any experience with this? If so, any recommendations? > Quality is important-ish - I know it's never going to sound like my Technics sound system but I'd like it good enough that a non-audiophile wouldn't complain. I'm guessing I'll need at least 128Kb/s for semi-decent audio. > Format doesn't have to be MP3 as long as the quality isn't _too_ low and there's an easy way to convert. > Small size (form factor) would be nice but isn't required. > If needs be, I can get PCBs etched _relatively_ inexpensively so that's not a major consideration. > Any suggestions for a good quality, small speaker would also be appreciated. Skills: I've got a degree in Electrical & Electronic engineering (but haven't touched a circuit since Uni) Budget: ~£300 tops (I'm hoping for considerably less) Time: Within a month or so. Many thanks in advance Basic

What is the best MP3 player? NOT iPod

I'm looking for an MP3 player, but i don't want to get an iPod. I was thinking the Creative Zen. I was looking around and I saw the 8 gig at Walmart for about $150. Old mp3-player, what to do with?

Hi everybody! I was going through some old boxes and found my old Creative Zen Vision:M. It's a bit beat up and the buttons are a bit dodgy but apart from that it's still working. It would be a waste to just throw it out but I don't really know what I could do with it, so now I'm asking for some suggestions. Just shout out if you have an idea, nothing is too silly or useless!

MP3 player - Car Unit Help?

OK, here's the deal. My truck's stereo finally kicked the bucket and now I have no way to play tunes. The old unit had an aux input, which was the only thing I really used (to play my MP3 player). I'd like to make a small, simple unit that just has a jack, power switch, and volume control I could mount in my truck that would run off of 12V and power 4 existing speakers (8 ohm). After looking around at other Instructables, I realized that I don't really know much about amps. I think I could wire one up, however, if I had a diagram. I have a couple of LM386N's laying around I could use, if I knew how... So, could someone please help me out on how to make an amp for this? And any other helpful info? Thanks a lot!

MP3 unit for car

Hi everyone, I was wondering if I could get some help with a project I'd like to make. My truck's stereo died, and instead of getting another stereo, I'd like to make a unit that just uses my MP3 player. Junkyard stereos are of dubious condition, and usually overpriced, and I'm too cheap to pay for a new stereo. I never really used the radio or CD player on the old unit; I just want basically a jack for a MP3 player/laptop, volume control, and power switch, powered by 12V and able to be hooked up to 4 speakers. I have some basic electronic knowledge, but not enough to make something like this. Could someone maybe, possibly, provide me with a diagram or ideas to get this started? Thanks a lot!

Custom MP3 player advise. Both code and construction?

Going to take an old 60's portable radio, remove guts (except batter supply and speaker) and then incorporate an inexpensive mp3 player to play out of the speaker. I don't see too much trouble with this, but not sure if someone has done this before (seen similar, but not exactly like this, i.e. bigger radios, or ones that plug into walls) Also, seeing if anyone has written a psuedo random algorithm that will play 4 random songs from one list, then a random from another, and then repeat the whole process again. The idea is to play 4 ransom songs, then an old radio ad, then back to songs, etc. Anyone have advise (other than the "don't do it", or "it's too hard")

Gameboy Color MP3 Player!!!!Ga

I have a request. I have attempted to make a "Gameboy SP" with a gameboy color and an altoids tin. Accidentally snapping the thing in half, i have given up on the project after hours of trying to make my own bit that'll fit those darned screws (i've succeeded and plan on making an instructable about it sometime in the future) and i finally got it opened. then i destroyed it. I noticed that the thing has the potential of becoming an awesome mp3 player because it has the headphone hole, a button for select, and whatever you need! Maybe someone could use an old ipod mini for the project because i've got one that i broke too. Anyway. To summarize, i would like someone to make a Gameboy Color Mp3 player becuase that would be extremely awesome and would make me happy becuase i have a broken gameboy with nothing to do now. Below is a picture of how i feel.
