Every link I click on signs me out. On the pdf page no link will download with out signing me out. I sign back in and click on the link only to be signed back out and told that I cant download till I sign in. Its a cycle. In both safari and firefox. If you cant provide me with what I paid for then end my contract. From reading the forums you are not providing service or fixing the issue. This was a great site when it was a resource and functional. Ever since it became a paid site it's gone down hill. I have screen shots of the issues if needed. thank you -Aaron Koscielniak

*I don't know if this is a function of the forums on this site, but I can't enter hard returns into this post; so, I'm sorry if it's difficult to read! PROBLEM: I can't write a new Instructable. SYMPTOM 1: After adding text and a title; when I click "Add Step" everything I've typed disappears and a "blank" Instructable is added to the "Drafts" folder. (As a result, I currently have 52 EMPTY Instructables in my "Drafts" when I'm only working on 1 project.) SYMPTOM 2: When I try to add images from my library to a step and click on "add image," the image is not added, any text I have typed so far is deleted, and a new blank Instructable appears in my "Drafts" folder. SYMPTOM 3: When I click on "Preview" to see if the text I've entered is even taking hold, all text is deleted. OS: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit. BROWSER: Internet Explorer 10.0.9. *Since the symptoms of my problem are just everything disappearing, there is really no screenshot I can provide that would help further explain the issue. *The Instructable (itself) I'm trying to write is a part of a wedding gift and I only have a few days left. Any help that can be rendered would be well appreciated! Thank you! -etymike

A few years ago I started celebrating International Buy Nothing Day, which falls on the Friday after Thanksgiving in the United States (and the following Saturday everywhere else). I typically celebrate by going for a walk on the beach in the morning, and then spending the rest of the day eating leftovers and working on projects. I find it's a pleasant way to start the holiday season, and helps put the season in perspective. Using one of the busiest shopping days of the year to take pause and go out of my way not to spend money made me very conscientious of many of the absurdities of the holiday season. It also helped me become aware of all of the small transactions that I typically made throughout the day, and the importance (or frivolity) of each one. Another unexpected consequence was that it limited travel, and forced me to stay local to my neighborhood. This made me engage with my neighbors in a way that did not require spending money. Not to mention, there were no pushy crowds elbowing for deals, no parking spots to fight for, and no unbearable register lines created by poorly trained seasonal staff. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that all transactions are bad. If no one ever spent money, our economy would probably collapse pretty quickly. We can't all avoid spending money every day, but we can choose where and how we spend our money. After a few years of celebrating International Buy Nothing Day, I am much more likely to spend money with local businesses, and support local artisans and craftspeople. This decision was arrived at while I was strolling about aimlessly a few years ago, and noticed how empty some of the local stores were on one of the busiest shopping days of the year. It was my conclusion that local businesses needed my money much more than the ubiquitous large retailers I typically purchased from. After all, these stores are more likely to sell the wares of local makers, and are an important part of the DIY community. I highly encourage everyone to celebrate this holiday to the best of their ability. I understand that you may need to go get some food, or put gas in your car, but, if you can, try avoiding the magnetic pull of shopping malls and Amazon deals. Instead, I would encourage everyone to try spending International Buy Nothing Day crafting thoughtful gifts for people, reading a good book, playing board games with friends, or simply going for a walk. Have you ever celebrated this holiday? Do you think you might like to try? Do you have any plans to make your own gifts this year? What are your thoughts on this phenomenon?

NASA wants to find some special people to pay to lie in a bed for 90 days straight. No moving about, no getting up, just lying there awake for 16 hours and sleeping for 8 hours a day. If you can handle it and this even sounds somehow appealing to you, NASA will pay you $17,000 for it. That's $1,000 a week since there are periods for tests and recovery. The goal is to see what effect microgravity has on the human body. It also sounds like some new form of torture.Don't have 17 weeks to spare? Then maybe the 41 day study is for you. Then again, that study requires you to be on a human centrifuge for an hour a day for 21 days. Yikes! Bed Rest Study Artificial Gravity Project

Ibles should create a way like if youur inavtive for 2 months, you get a warning e-mail, then boom! good-bye, or they change your username to something like dead_account 1 dead_account 2 dead_account 3 Etc. Etc. Authors of ibles, please reply as to WHY you have not done this, thank you Bartboy ( I would be Bartman, but SOMEBODY took that, and they are one of the people I am talking about! )

Yesterday was my 53rd trip around the sun as a functioning human entity. I hope to make a few more trips before my expiration date however; in the event that I misread that particular portion of my "owner's manual", I would like to once again express my great appreciation to the Original Instructables Gang, and all those I have known over the last several years. I have grown VERY fond of many of you, I have learned a lot & I hope I have taught something to someone (I like to give back for what I have gained). I hope you ALL have a grand holiday season coming up, whether you celebrate Turkey Day, X-mas, the winter Solstice, Saturnalia, Hanukkah, Brumalia, Kwanza, Yule (added after being reminded by Lemonie), or Dies Natalis Solis Invicti.

If you're interested in Yerba Buena Center for the Arts' TechnoCRAFT exhibition, you might also want to know about the design film series we're hosting this summer. See below for more information. SOMETHING FROM NOTHING: FILMS ON DESIGN & ARCHITECTURE Sundays, Jul 11 thru Sep 5, 2 pm In conjunction with our TechnoCRAFT gallery exhibition, we present these eight matinee screenings, covering not only design, but architecture, motion graphics and craft. Sun, Jul 11, 2 pm Refrigerator Fetish: Vintage Industrial Design Films We kick off the series with a selection of funny, bizarre, and maybe even educational vintage product design films, from the 1920s forward. Examining the sensuality of the fridge, the rhapsody of the pencil and the mysterious polishing of unknowable objects, this promises to be a one-of-a-kind day at the movies. Presented live by film archivist Dennis Nyback. Sun, Jul 18, 2 pm Citizen Architect: Samuel Mockbee and the Spirit of the Rural Studio By Sam Wainwright Douglas Citizen Architect chronicles the work of the late activist architect Samuel Mockbee, and his radical educational program known as the Rural Studio. The program teaches students about the social responsibilities of architecture and charges them to provide original and inspirational homes and buildings (mostly from salvaged materials) in rural west Alabama, one of the poorest communities in the country (2010, 60 min, digital video). Preceded by the short Robin Hood Gardens (Or Every Brutalist Structure For Itself) by Martin Ginestie (2010, 17 min, digital video) Sun, Jul 25, 2 pm wow+flutter Assembled by onedotzero, the London-based cutting-edge new media group, this compilation program showcases the most progressive and unpredictable work in motion graphics and short-form media. Fresh talent and celebrated masters alike strive to expand, blur and explode traditional notions of what future moving images could be as a playground for creative expression. (2009, 70 min, digital video) Sun, Aug 1, 2 pm The Greening of Southie By Ian Cheney This incisive new documentary is set in the traditionally Irish-American working-class neighborhood of South Boston, where a new kind of building is taking shape. From wheatboard cabinetry to recycled steel, bamboo flooring to dual-flush toilets, the Macallen building is a leader in the emerging field of environmentally friendly design. But Boston's steel-toed union workers aren't sure they like it. And when things start to go wrong, the young development team gets a little more than they bargained for. A film about building the city of tomorrow…today. (2008, 72 min, digital video) Sun, Aug 15, 2 pm Infinite Space: The Architecture of John Lautner By Murray Grigor John Lautner was the Southern California architect. Even if his name isn’t familiar, you have likely seen pictures of some of his most famous works, such as the space-age “Chemosphere,” the octagonal house on a hill, which has become a Los Angeles landmark. Lautner believed that the purpose of architecture is to create timeless, free, joyous spaces for all activities in life. Infinite Space traces the lifelong quest of a man to create “architecture that has no beginning and no end.” (2009, 90 min, digital video) Sun, Aug 22, 2 pm Rem Koolhaas: A Kind of Architect By Markus Heidingsfelder and Min Tesch Rarely has an architect caused as much sensation outside of the architecture community as Rem Koolhaas. His outstanding creations such as the Dutch Embassy in Berlin, the Seattle Library, and the Casa da Musica concert hall in Porto are working examples of his visionary theories about architecture and urban society. An engaging portrait of the man and his work, the film takes us to the heart of his ideas. Koolhaas has stated "it's the only film about me that I have liked." (2008, 97 min, digital video) Sun, Aug 29, 2 pm The Visual Language of Herbert Matter By Reto Caduff SPECIAL SNEAK PREVIEW! A revealing look at the life story of a highly influential mid-century modern design master. Known as a quintessential designer's designer, Swiss-born Herbert Matter is largely credited with expanding the use of photography as a design tool and bringing the semantics of fine art into the realm of applied arts. Through never-before-seen footage, personal photography and stunning graphic design, the film explores the social and cultural impact of his personal visual language that influenced a generation of designers and artists. (2010, digital video) Sun, Sep 5, 2 pm Handmade Nation By Faythe Levine This charmingly low-fi film documents the contemporary crafting community. The button disables. 6) wait ... wait ... wait ... nothing ever happens Chrome Version 45.0.2454.85 Curiously, the new uploader dialog for this bug report form doesn't allow me to even browse to an image, but the old uploader seems to work, but after uploading, the screen shot of the bug doesn't show up below, either.

I'm building a handheld geiger counter using an ATMega168 microcontroller with the arduino bootloader. I was planning on using a 9v battery with a 7805 to power the circuit since the geiger counter power supply only draws 3ma and I did not think an arduino would draw much current. however, after building it on protoboard I found that the total current draw on the battery was in the neighborhood of 170ma and drained a fresh 9v in a few minutes flat. The rest of the circuit continues to work without the arduino, and draws only 20ma when the micro has been removed. is it normal for an ATMega168 or 328 to draw 150ma when loaded with a minimal program and none of its I/O pins are sinking/sourcing any current? It is possible this chip has been mistreated somewhat, would it being slightly damaged cause it to use more power than usual? maybe using sleep mode aggressively in my code to save power would work? also, does anyone know of a 5v regulator chip like the 7805 that does not use so much current? the 7805 burns up about 10ma by itself which is not so great when the geiger counter itself uses only a few ma.

I am removing old vinyl flooring to put down ceramic tile. The vinyl is 17 years old and I have tried a heat gun, glue remover, an iron and foil, a heated trowel and nothing works quickly. A job that should take a week is taking months. Can ceramic tile be put down on top of the vinyl without the grout cracking when you walk on it?
Hello, I have a rewound MOT (230V input and 9-50V output, different custom windings) and I'm wondering why the transformer gets so hot when no load is even connected? Is it normal that MOT's get so hot quickly because the primary impedance is just so low? and how do they fix this problem when the MOT is still inside the microwave oven? Because there, it does need to be able to run for hours. I've read about ballasting the MOT, but I thought that was only for current limiting, when you Are attaching loads on the secondary?
