Ok, I'm thinking of turning an old TV/Computer screen, CRT, into an aquarium. If so would anyone be interested in me making an instructable about it? Please tell me if there is already an instructable about this. Thanks.

TV antenna

Is it possible to make a tv antenna from an old router? I have an old router and a tv antenna. I am trying to do this because my stupid cable provider won't pick up a second CBS. Then my TV tower fell about 5 years ago. Last month I found this station. It's 79.2 miles away. My little indoor TV antenna pick it up at NIGHT, on CLEAR skies only. (Not in the day) and I have to hold the antenna. I know routers would be didgital (if that has anything to do with it). My tv does have the digital tuner. On digital I can't pick it up, but i do somewhat on analog.

How to connect a PS2 to an old tv

I'm new to Instructables and not sure if i'm posting in the right area. So,i do not mean to irritate anyone. Anyway, i have an old tv with only an antenna jack in the back and wish to connect my PS2 to it. I have tried already using a tv adapter used for the atari and a rca splitter. I connected the video and left sound to one end of the splitter, and plugged the other end into the coaxial plug for the atari. I then screwed the atari adapter to the antenna jack on the tv. I get a distorted image on my tv in bright colors, but no sound. Any ideas or tips on building a converter or adapter would be great.

Fixing a old tv that shorts out?

So i have this old Magnavox projection tv, hasent been run in a long time due to a shorting issue between a heatsink and something (its been so long that i dont even remember) I can plug it in and find excatly where its shorting but i dont want to fry the tv... I do remember that it is one of the heatsinks by the flyback that it arced from. I also have the basic wiring diagram for the tv, but it only shows how to adjust the picture, what connects to what and, what wire is what. Should i try and turn it on again and find where its shorting and possably fix it, or just call some tv repair guy who knows more of what hes doing.

Portable Homemade TV Answered

I built a TV from an old laptop screen and one of those LCD control boards you can get from eBay but I’m curious how to go about adding a battery to it to make it portable. So, my question is, how do I go about battery safety and how do I control charging and isolation? For example, if I plug the TV in because the battery is dead, do I just have a charging board between the input and battery and let the charging board take care of the rest? And the same question is applied to when the battery is at peak charge but I don’t want to use the battery just simply plugged in. The battery is a 12v 2A lipo and I don’t want any fires. I’ve thought about adding a switch to simplify things but that’s inconvenient and armature I could make a circuit that would cut off the flow when the battery is at peak I suppose but I’m not sure of the schematics or if that is the right approach. I’m good at building just not figuring this stuff out….

Old flyback transformers

I really want a old flyback transformer for my high voltage projects, but I don't know where to get one. I tried to get one from my local TV repair shop, but they did not have any, only new modern flyback transformers and I don't want that kind of transformer. So if you have any old functional flyback transformers that you don't want anymore, I would really want to buy them from you, and I will pay for the postage price. I will buy modern flyback transformers if you are trying to give it away for a very cheap price or for free (I will still pay for the postage price). Please respond to me if you live in UK, if you don't live in UK, please don't respond to me because I cannot afford such high postage (shipping) bill.

Old big-screen TV -- What to do with the dang thing?

My big-screen TV is 18 years-old and is forcing me to buy a bigger house. What can I do with it? It works but the picture is just plain bad. I hate to trash it because the wood structure looks so much nicer than its reception. Aquarium? No, I don't care to clean the tank. Bookshelf? No, I don't need that. Gun cabinet? Nah. Anybody have an interesting idea or know where to direct me for creative advice? This dinosaur is huge but looks great when closed. Thanks, RebelwoaCloo.

Old analogue TV with set top box problems

Hello everyone. This is the first time I have asked a question on Instructables, so please bare with me. Ok, so I have an old tv (one with only a RF coaxial input port) and a set top box. At the moment, I have the cable from the antenna plugged into the back of the set top box, then I have the component cables from the set top box plugged into the back of an old VCR player which has an RF coaxial output which goes to the TV itself. Now, this is all fine and dandy, the picture quaulity is good and it all worked forst go, the problem I am having is the sound. The sound is really very quiet which doesn't matter too much as the TV is pretty close to where I sit, but there is a static fuzzy sound that sort of drowns out the sound I am hearing. So I am thinking that the VCR player is causing this interference and quiet sound, would I be right? Is there some sort of adapter I can get that converts a component input into a coaxial RF output so I can bypass the VCR player? Any other tips/Ideas? Thankyou very much.

Has anybody attempted this project before?

I got a 1952 RCA console TV I have Gutted the old CRT and chasis. I am going to replace the CRT [ TV TUBE] with a computor monitor and a cable box. I'll drill a front door peep hole viewer in front of the cable box IR sensor for remote control. I make a new custom trim plate for the new " picture tube" and I would like to use the old 8" speaker. Monitors have a more square shape than LCD TV's which is closer to the round tubes of the fiftys. Using a cable box would allow me to place the Peep site where I want it with relation to the cabinet.

One mans garbage...

Really is another mans gold! I'm the type of person who, when seeing something internesting, picks it up. For instance, I have found: @ A working VCR (and I use it) @ A small TV (not broken, just REALLY old) @ Microwave ovens (several, not a single one broken) @ Old computers (the joys of Harddrive magnets) @ A 27 inch Panasonic TV (it's working perfectly, i use it daily) UPDATE 10 July 2010 @ A working DVD player (slot jammed, fixed it) @ A PlayStation 1 (not tested, I'll report back) (tested it with the AV cable I also found, it works!) There's no shame in taking "trash" off the streets! I got some funny looks having a small TV strapped to my bike, I take them as compliments! What I'm trying to say here is basically Save the planet, finders keepers!

I need help remembering an old commercial. Free Pro membership to the first answer!

I cannot remember what kind of product the commercial was for.  (So I guess it failed as a long term advertisement.) What I do remember is detailed below: There was a guy waiting in traffic and a school bus pulled up next to him.  Then all the kids were making faces at him and stuff.  After a while he gets annoyed and makes some ridiculous face in retaliation.  Then all the kids get scared and sit back down. I remember it was a Super Bowl commercial.  I think it was in the late 90s. This has been bugging me for a long time.  Like the title says, the first person to answer this will get a free year of Pro Membership!
