Spupgun problems and help

I love to build spudguns and air cannons. But like everything you encounter a couple problems. So I decided to make a topic for everyone to post their questions and problems with spudguns and air cannons and for other people to post answers to them. Enjoy

Chemistry equipment list?

Hello Fellow Instructablers!       Its been a while since I have made a post but I am back with a burning question!  I have a great interest in science and chemistry and always wanted to preform experiments seen on page of authors like Nurdrage for example. But I have never had the required equipment or chemicals to do these. I have taken a high school chemistry class and gotten my stuff down and now am prepared to take on the challenge of the lab. I have a birthday coming on on the 24th and my parents said if I wanted to get into chemistry I should ask for equipment and chemicals or what I need for my birthday.      So I will, but I need help. From an experienced chemist or someone who has done this before. Can anyone give me a list of basic-intermediate lab equipment that is needed for most experiments? I don't want to get one of those chemistry kits for kids since those are so restricted and only let you do the experiments given to you, not very fun So I want to get free use equipment and chemicals for any procedure. But I have no idea what is needed most or least and would really appreciate it if someone were able to do this for me. Just in the comments or PM, have a list of stuff I should ask for if I wanted to kick start my chemistry, what that item is used for, the price and its frequency of use to determine what I should decide on if there were to be a conflict. I would really appreciate any help I can get from you guys cause my birthday is coming up soon! Thanks everyone! ~Ostomesto

Do any big makers or instuctablers live near me?

Hey I was wondering if any big makers or instructablers on this site live near me. By big I mean professionsal makers and stuff, the famous instructable members who everyone has seen their ible's and knows about. I recently saw someone's ible' with an enormus air cannon using a piston valve and some of the pics in the ible' looked like they were from around here. but they weren't.             I need someone who knows alot about airguns, valves(homemade or bought), patatoe guns, compressed air ect. That type of thing because my "career"(not a career cause im a minor but you get it) in making air guns has come to a hault when I encountered two big problems that prevented me from making my guns any  bigger or my valves faster so I'm stuck Anyone who has knowledge in that feild or who lives around me please PM me and comment I live in rochester hills michigan

Winter weapons of snowy destruction

It's winter and snow is everywhere (well where I live there is) People are sledding and making snow angels. And of course my favorite part- Snowball fights. Snow in ball form whizzing thru the air towards people. Me loving to build stuff and loving to improve it to, I wanted to make something that could throw snowballs better than any person. I have an idea for a couple launchers and cannons but I want to see other people's ideas. So post anything, a launcher, a cannon, a catapult, a chucker. Anything that can accompany someone in a snowball fight. So people POST.

could I turn one of those old barbie cars for kids that only go 5 mph into a mini offroad beast? Answered

Do you remember those old barbie cars for kids that only go about 5 mph, a barbie radio, pedals for brakes and going forward. Those old things. I am not good with motars engines elctronics thta stuff i am more of a machanicle(i know thats misspelled) builder so I am no good at that type of thing. But I was wondering if someone could tell me how to turn the barbie car into a mini off-raod beast and the parts I need to do it. Im not going to make an ible' on it since it would suck so anyone can use the idea. I want it to go about 10mph+. Try to keep it low price too. I dont have the car right now cause if i got one and no one commented then it would be a waste. So can someone help me?

Can someone help me with my fatal flaw in my spudgun design?

So i have built spudguns in the past and with every new gun i make it gets bigger and better. So i just found pressure rated 3" pvc and im going to use it for a new air chamber. Its a simple end around gun with a piloted sprinkler valve so yea the design is good. Except for one thing. I am enthusiastic enough of a spudgunner to use an air compressor to power it when im at home. but when im at a park or some open feild i bring along a bike pump to pump it up. But with each size up for the air chamber it takes longer and longer and longer to pump. Im not enthusiastic enough to buy a compressed air tank for $60. so what should i do to power it up. i dont have enough room at my house for a distance or height shot and it will take forever to use a bike pump so what should i do. PLESE HELP ME  i will try to post pics of it soon  HELP ME

how to extract from rust form rust rich soil? Answered

OK, so I have this big water treatment plant around me and there is a huge pit where the soil is deep orange and filled with rust. I know its rust because the people who work there told me its rust. If you just touch it your fingers are orange. So I went down there with a plastic bag and gathered up some chunks of soil that were dry and orange. I was wondering how i could extract the iron oxide(rust)  from it so there is no dirt in it and I have a pile of rust. I want to use it for thermite. Thanks alot!

Periodic Table of FAILURES

Hello everyone!! It has been a while since I have posted anything but I am back. So, I am currently a freshmen in high school, taking block science. I just started chemistry and was very excited having prior knowledge and love for it. The teacher give  us a paper with the Periodic Table of Elements on it. It was made by the Navy with a bunch of pictures of ships and what-not. So it seems legit. BUT, after closer inspection I discover this is as accurate as a un-modded Nerf gun. Many errors, ranging from spelling of elements to incorrect symbols and more.          So I issue a challenge. Since I have only knowledge of Chemistry I hope that here on Instructable's there are people who know it from the back of their head and can and will find the errors in this catastrophic table. I am posting a picture of it for you to investigate, if you need it to be clearer or anything else just ask. I am very curious to see what else on this is wrong. I have already marked and fixed a few errors with a pen, but I want to see if there are more!

Maker Fair Detroit Vacation

Well, I'm back from my vacation. It was awesome. First, I hit Maker Fair Detroit. I saw some pretty cool things. They include (in no particular order): Life Size Mouse Trap, Diet Coke and Mentos, a bunch of people riding wacky bikes, Iron Pour, races with a whole bunch of different vehicles, all-around crazy people, and the instructables booth. The instructables booth was the best, of course. Taking several trips there, I met frenzy, zazenergy, wilgubeast, and ostomesto (he was working a shift at the booth). Everyone was so nice (they gave me sugru, a patch, and stickers), and it was awesome to see them and meet them. At the instructables booth they had the most useless machine, the mohawk helmet, and the robot-pirate flag. Also, at the first day of Maker Fair, I wore my robot shirt with a camera in the robot's eye (instructable hopefully coming soon). It was funny seeing Frenzy so worried. Right away he asked, "What happened to his eye?!?". It's o.k. frenzy and robot lovers, I was careful when I did the procedure. I was hoping to get some good shots of the Fair, but alas, I had never used the camera shirt before so most of the pictures were of the sky (but I guess clouds are pretty too). I also got an arduino starter kit, so expect some cool arduino instructables coming in a couple of months (I say months because as of right now, it makes no sense). The rest of my vacation was fun: I stopped by Bad Axe (say it a couple of times quickly and you'll realize how cool this town name is) to get a hat, went fishing, and found out I won in the Fitness Challenge while on my iPod in an ice cream shop. Well, that's about it.
